Subject: unexpected love (high school section) chapter 1

Joey woke up on Friday morning well rested and ready to start the day.
Joey was your average teenager but a little on the scrawny side. He had
dark brown hair that was sun bleached from marching band practice ( Ever
since fourth grade Joey had played clarinet).

School had been going well so far since it was only about four weeks into
the first semester of his sophomore year.

When he got up out of bed in his black shorts and band tee shirt he went
and looked in the mirror that was at his dresser. The room he had was
fairly large with his bed being up against the wall  and  a window in the
back to the right of his bed. As he looked around the room, Joey saw his
medium sized T.V. caddy corner to his bed. A dresser was located in the
corner opposite to the television.

He took out a nice polo shirt and some American Eagle jeans from his
dresser. The polo shirt was blue, and the jeans were what was in style.

Joey has  good clothes now, because his mother is a nurse. However, there
was a time when all of his clothing came from sales at small, low price
retail stores. That was  while she was a poor student putting herself
through school.

His mother called up to his room " Joey get you butt down here Mister or
else your going to be late for school!"

Joey's mother, Joan, is a big set woman. She has medium length brown hair
surrounding a very beautiful face.

Joey's father had left about four years previously and remarried. He had
a kid  and  also adopted his new wife's children.

"OK,... Mom I'm going!"

Joey walked downstairs and turned right entering the kitchen.

"Morning Mom!

"Morning honey! Your breakfast is on the table, and you need to hurry.
You only have about forty five minutes until you must be at school."

"OK!"

After he had eaten his breakfast and kissed his mother good bye he went
to get his book bag and keys from the seldom used dining room.

The drive to school was short since they only lived about three minutes
away. He parked in  his car in the lot assigned to student, and then went
in through the back entrance ( The high school that Joey attends is
huge.)

"Hey Joey!... What's up?!" asked Cody.

Cody is a clarinet player like Joey. He is good looking and has green
eyes and black hair. Cody isn't scrawny but is rather athletic. In fact,
he is a cross country sprinter, and he is really tan from running without
a shirt.

"Oh nothing much just going to first period."

"Yeah same here! Well,... talk to you latter."

Cody walked down one of the side halls to the history wing, as Joey went
to the choir room for first period.

Joey really likes to sing. Being a first tenor Joey always comes in early
to warm up so that he can hit the high notes in full voice.

After warming up first period began. It  went by smoothly and then he
went to his second period biology class.

Joey hates his biology class, because it's usually boring.  Also, today,
Joey isn't looking forward to turning in his insect project. He doesn't
like how he had completed his assignment. Joey is a straight A student in
school, and even though his report is sure to get an A he thinks that he
could have done it better.

The class is boring as usual. He just sits there half  listening and
 half day dreaming.

Joey thinks about what it would be like to have a boyfriend at school. He
has known that he is gay since the seventh grade. He's had a few
boyfriends but remains a virgin. Joey is lonely, however he accepts his
fate.

When the bell rings sounding the end of the period he is reluctantly
pulled out of his dream.  He walks down the hall towards his accelerated
geometry class.

Geometry is Joey's most boring class. However, it passes pretty quickly,
and then it's time for Spanish. He likes the class, because  he finds
Spanish interesting and easy to learn. After the class ends it's time for
lunch.

Joey goes to the cafeteria and sits down at the table with all of his
friends. Cody is beside him. Lauren is perched caddy corner from him,
with Mickey next to Cody. Kalli is located across from him and  Meredith
and Joy in front of each other at the opposite end of the table.

They all ate there cheeseburgers and fries together.  Lauren is the most
perverted of them all. The group laughs and jokes until the end of lunch.

When lunch is over they make their way to their different classes.

Joey goes to English Two.

English  is fun today (a Friday), because Joey's teacher, Mr. Bender,
allows his students to play Madlibs every Friday.

Madlibs is a game where you substitute nouns, verbs, adjectives and other
parts of a sentence without knowing where they are going. The results
sound  hilarious.

Joey's sixth period is American History. The class is always interesting
and by far his favorite class. The period itself goes by rapidly, and
before he knows it, it is time for band.

Joey walks into the band room and looks on the board for instructions on
what to do. He sees that all the musical instruments were set out.

Joey walks out onto the field. Cody comes up to him.

"Hey Joey what's up?"

"Nothing much! I'm just doing the same thing that your doing!." he says
with a slight chuckle.

"Well yeah!... I know that! So what are you doing Saturday?" asks Cody
getting a little shy at the end of the question.

"Ummm,... I don't know!... I think that im just going to be staying at
home. Why?"

"Well,... I was wondering if you might want to go out to a movie or
something?" Cody asks even more shyly.

"Cody are you asking me on a date?!"

Cody's face turns beet red!

"Ummm... well... I- I ...ummm." he stammers out and then gulps.

"Yes Joey!... I'm asking you out!" he finally spits out.

"But,... wait!... I thought that you were straight! And, even more I
thought that you liked Lauren a lot!" Joey replies looking confused.

 "Well,... you see... last month,  I sorta realized that I was... you
know... Gay! Then,... I was looking at you about two weeks ago and
realized that I was attracted to you!"

"WOW!... No offense! But, this is so out of left field!!... OH, and by
the way YES!... I would love to go out with you Saturday!! So,... does
this make you my boyfriend then?!"

"Yeah!!... I guess it does!!" exclaims Cody with the biggest smile that
he'd ever had!

 They only have to go through the show about three times then it's  time
for school to end. Usually they go to three thirty, but today they have
an away game that is about three hours from  the school. Therefor, most
of the band doesn't leave. Nor does Joey and Cody.

For the little wait they have the boys go across the street to the
Speedway to get slush's. When the guys arrive back at the school the
couple just walk around and talk.

"So,... Joey what do you want to do when you get older?"

"Well,... I want to go to OSU, major in Meteorology and minor in Earth
Science, Then I want to go to Cleveland to work for the National Weather
Service's Severe Weather Department."

 "Oh my god!!... That's so strange!!... But, I want to do the same
exact thing!! However, I also want to get a degree in music!"

They both just keep walking and talking about life and such. Joey speaks
about his mom and his family. He relates how he didn't talk to his
father anymore and had no intention of ever speaking to him again.

Then Cody mentions his family. He complains how his mom and dad say
hateful things all the time about gay people to him and his two brothers.

Cody relates that he has two brothers. James is a freshman  in high
school and the youngest of the three. He is always scared. Cody's other
brother, Alex,  is a senior.

"I have heard that your brother Alex beats kids up all the time. That he
mistakenly thinks that they are gay even though most of them aren't. He
has also threatened me as well." explains Joey.

"I am sorry about him! He's such a big jack ass!"

After about an hour of walking around the school the boys male their way
back to the band room to get ready to board one of the buses. As the
couple got on their bus, Joey takes his regular place behind Lauren, and
Cody comes back and sits right beside Joey.

"Cody why are you sitting with Joey?" Kalli inquires.

Cody just looks at Joey and mouths,

"Are you ready to tell them?"

Joey nods.

"Well guys Joey and I are sorta a thing now!" Cody whispers.

"Are you serious?!" asks Lauren.

"I thought that you had a major crush on me!" she exclaims.

"Well I did, but then about a month ago I concluded that I was gay. Two
weeks ago I realized, as I was looking at Joey that I liked him. So I
asked him out earlier today, and then we just walked around the school
talking about life and things during the break."

"WOW!... Guys that's awesome!!  I'm happy for you!!" proclaims
Meredith.

"Yeah,... ditto!!" agrees Joy.

"What are you to going to do tomorrow?..." inquires Lauren.

"Fuck him?!"

Joey just looks at Lauren and declares,

"No Lauren!... I'm not going to have sex with him! We're just going to
go to a movie and hang out!"

Lauren grins and quips,

" With your wang out!"

At that point Cody hits her playfully on the arm.

"No Lauren!... Get your head out of the gutter!!"

Lauren just rolls her eyes and replies,

"Cody you should know that my head is stuck in the gutter!!"

The group had a good laugh. A little while later they all started playing
apples to apples.

No one noticed, but the boys secretly held hands.
