Subject: Waiting for the Music Chapter 2 (of many) [gay/highschool]

Hi Everyone! Sorry about the HUUGE delay in writing chapters, but I got
tied down with important commitments :(

There will be more frequent updates (longer chapters, too) in future, so
stay tuned!

DISCLAIMER

This story involves relationships between males aged 15-19. If you do not
approve of this, why the hell are you even reading it now? If you are a
parent reading through the Internet logs of your young child, do not
punish your child for reading these stories. He/she clearly has some
questions about his development, and it is YOUR responsibility to answer
those questions truthfully and honestly. If this material is illegal in
your area, leave now. Blah blah blah blah blah blah. You know the drill.
If you aren't supposed to be reading this, Don't (although some flames
would be lovely to publicly dissect :)).

This story and setting are based on events in my life when I was 17 years
old. Names and places have been changed to protect the privacy of
individuals. Obviously most (but not all) of the relationships are made
up. All of the ones involving me are. The real relationship I had when I
was 17 is too painful for me to want to recollect, as it ended in a
horrible tragedy due to Pancreatic Cancer. Hence most of my writing here
is based on post-Leo time frame, where I was single and looking. I have
also removed sections of my life that I have felt would have made the
story too multitracked and confusing. I am trying to keep the number of
characters to a minimum. I am also avoiding all cliches.

Finally this is set in the Australian High School System so if you don't
know how it works go look it up. I'm sick of reading about sophomores and
freshmen. We don't have that here.

Enjoy!

Note: This is my first story! So, please write to me and let me know what
you think, email:

Of course, remove the NOSPAM there

letters in praise of my work: Bobby, Jon, Mark, Adrian and Kalup.

Waiting for the Music: Chapter 2

I picked a random store and bought a meal for $10, trying to find
something that looked mildly palatable. Centrepoint (AMP Tower) is the
most prominent building in the Sydney cityscape, owing to it's unique
architecture, but what alot of the tourists don't realise is that it is
actually a little more than a revolving restaurant and an observation
deck. Below it, a large mall is situated, and, within that, is the
obligatory food court.

Like most large areas for eating in the city, the variety of food
available was immense, but the quality of all of it was terrible. The
food was probably more than 50% oil, and throughout the entire year I
never actually dared to ask what it was that I was buying. I looked
around for Andy and Michael, but they weren't in sight, so I assumed they
had already gone, and began to head back to Hyde Park, where we we
actually ate the food we purchased. I always found the name "Hyde Park"
to be amusing, seeing as it pales into insignificance when compared to
the English version that it was designed to imitate. But it was pretty
enough, and there was actually room for us to sit, unlike in the shopping
centre.

I noticed Andy had gotten himself some form of Mexican food that actually
looked like it might taste good. I made a mental note of it for next
time. While we were eating, we noticed Mr. Quentin coming back with some
food as well. He was a tall, balding guy who had a passion for foreign
films. He was the Year 7 co-ordinator, so he was the first high school
teacher we had - everyone in the form group thought he was awesome. We
called him over, and he chuckled and sat opposite us on a ledge.

"Hello boys. I hope Larry.. I mean, Mr. Richardson, didn't give you too
much trouble on the way over", He said.
"Actually, he didn't even say anything", Michael replied; "Kind of
unusual really." Andy added.

He murmured his suprise and began to eat his meal. It was some greasy
pasta - the same thing I was having.

 "This is disgusting." he said.
"Tell me about it." I replied.

He changed the subject in is usual offcentre way and said to me, "So I
heard you're looking for a boyfriend again."

I blinked in surprise. It just wasn't the sort of thing I would have
expected him to start talking about. Particularly seeing as it would have
begun ringing duty-of-care alarm bells in my classmates' heads. I had
told him I was gay. In fact, he was one of the few teachers that knew,
although most of the students did. Being a Catholic school, I had to be
careful about which teachers found out. Conservatives like Mr. Richardson
probably would not react very well. I shuddered at the thought.

Mr. Quentin continued suggestively, "... because you know, my nephew is
still single and interested...?"

I groaned. His nephew's name was Dale Williams, and he was in Year 10 at
my school, two years younger than me. I wasn't interested, but he was.
Ever since I turned him down, Mr. Quentin has been trying to fob him off
on me.

"For the last time, No! I have my sights set on someone else." I lied.
"Really? Who?" (Damn! There was no getting past him)
"Umm... Roland Mason." I said, rapidly and randomly thinking of a guy I
knew from Choir.
"Oh? From the choir? He's a cute one, good luck!" He smiled as he threw
the final half of his meal into the bin and began walking up to the
cathedral.

What the..? "He's a cute one"!? But Mr. Quentin is married! Surely he's
not... naah, he has to just be kidding around. Andy and Michael seemed
undisturbed by the comments, so I assumed it was just a passing remark.

I looked at my phone (which I technically was not allowed to have on) and
realised that we had about 30 seconds to get back to school, so I too
threw the rest of my lunch in the bin and joined Andy and Michael in the
sprint down the footpath, and rushed back into the school gate directly
before that terrible single-tone sounded over the P.A again. I pulled out
my timetable and looked at my final two subjects for the day: Maths with
Mr. Richardson (again! That's the second for the day!) and then a
relaxing Catholic Studies with Mr. Edwards. That was sure to be
interesting.

Mr. Edwards will turn out to be even more interesting than Mr. Quentin.
Stay tuned! I love you all!
