"I'm gonna be late. I'm gonna be late!"

Kevin had slept in again. But not as late this time thankfully. His
dad knew what happened and woke him up just before he snuck off to work.

"Arrrghh," he growled as he scrambled to get all his school supplies,
book and pencils together for school. His dad said he was going to give
him a ride there but he was hoping to get there early to see Aaron and
maybe have a little breakfast. His dad didn't make enough money working
in the office so Kevin got free breakfasts and lunches every day until
his dad got a higher income. Kevin was hoping to get a job next year
when he was 15 1/4. His birthday was in a few months and he would be
turning 15.

It was 3 days since he had met Aaron and his life was great so far.
He wasn't even worried about anyone to give him trouble at school
or otherwise. He was just content to have someone to share his life
with at this point.

So he got in his dads car and got to school 5 minutes before the bell
rang. With Aaron nowhere in sight.

He signed out loud. Maybe a little too loud. And his emotional
disappointment showed on his physical face.

"Hey Kevin!"

Kevin whirled around, expecting a fist or an insult, but didn't receive
one. It was his friend David. One of the only people who didn't tease
him, bully him or anything like that.

"Hey David," he replied in his best cheery tone, "what going on, buddy?"

"Ah, nothing much, just got here."

"That's cool. Have you seen Aaron around?"

"Yea, I saw him lurking by the bathroom about 10 minutes ago but never
saw him after that."

"OK, well at least he's here."

The two took a seat on a bench by the foreign language building and
just chatted about daily life. David was someone special to Kevin. Not
sexually though, he was a good friend that he could tell anything to.

"Hows life treating you these days," asked David.

"A lot better. It sent me an angel to keep me a live and through the
troubles," Kevin replied with a smile.

David chuckled, saying, "Are you and Aaron together, then?"

Kevin nodded.

"I gathered that. People have been talking about you two. Well not
really talking, insulting, really. They'll say stupid stuff like 'I
bet those two pillow-biting fags have already done each other.' Pisses
me off really. People have no sensitivity."

Kevin let out a sigh. He lowered his head. Society was so cruel.

The day wore on and two periods passed without seeing Aaron anywhere
around campus as Kevin moved about classes. But break finally came
and he saw Aaron in his usual place.

"Hey," yelled Kevin from about 10 feet away, when spotting him.

Aaron turned around and smiled broadly at his boyfriend.

"Where were you before school, Kevin?"

"Where were you, Aaron," he replied, using his friend's name on purpose.

Aaron's smile grew wider as he grabbed Kevin's hand and walked him
toward the grassy area separating the other buildings from the
preforming arts building.

When they got to the shade of a tree Aaron kissed Kevin on the lips
with such force that Kevin was shocked. They frenched for two minutes
before Aaron broke the kiss.

"Oh I've been wanting that all day," said Aaron with a whisper as he
took Kevin gently into his arms.

Kevin just stood there, letting Aaron hold him up. another two minutes
passed and they sat down on the still-wet grass.

They peered into each others eyes and it seemed like the rest of the
world turned into nothing. That they were the only things each other
cared about in that moment in time. But the moment quickly turned no
dust as they both heard feet approaching and someone yelling "fucking
fags," in their general direction.

They quickly got up and looked at the source of the insult. It was
a well known bully to Kevin. He'd dealt with this character times before.

His name was Josh and he stood 2 inches taller than Kevin. He had thick
brown hair and was Mexican, and spoke the accent and the language without
having to take the foreign language course.

The two just stood there as onlookers, apparently frozen in place.

Josh spoke again, but with more fury in his voice, "You fags are a
disgrace."

He ran forward and took a swing at Aaron. Kevin reached over and
smacked the fist away. He grabbed Josh's arm and tried to fling
him down but when that failed he felt a fist connect with his gut.
Kevin, though out of breath and holding his stomach, stayed conscious
and standing. He took the strength to look up and noticed he still
had a hand on Josh, who was trying to pull away. Kevin this time,
without hesitation, and with adrenaline running through his enraged
body, flung Josh to the ground and kicked him hard in the side.

Aaron, in all this time was just watching, with awe and pain in his
hearth for Kevin both. As Josh fell to the ground, and took the brutal
kick, he grabbed Kevin before he could throw another and the boy.

He softly, soothingly, whispered into Kevin's ear, "You did good, its
over, thank you. You really are a hero. I love you."

Kevin sighed and held his stomach again, with tears in his eyes. He
turned around and hugged Aaron, sobbing into his shirt. They walked
away as the bell rang, holding each other by the shoulder. Kevin
regained his strength as he said goodbye to Aaron and walked into his
next class. He couldn't believe what just happened.

"What am I becoming," he though to himself, "I've stood up to so
many people just for Aaron. I didn't even care about myself. Oh
Aaron, don't ever leave me."

Lunch approached and the two had not seen another bully or heard any
other insult. What they did hear though, were the rumors of what had
gone on during break.

The two met and got their lunch, sat and ate their lunch. They
talked little until they were both finished. They got up and walked
over to a bench on a car corned of campus by the science building.
There they collapsed into each others arms.

Kevin spoke first, "I love you, you know that right. And hopefully
you and fate knows that we will not be separated. I don't ever want
to leave you. You give me strength. You give my bravery. And you
give me what it takes to go through each day without being killed
by bullies or killed by my own handy from the suffering."

His eyes were filled with tears and he barely spat out the last few
words.

Aaron replied by raising a hand to stroke Kevin's hair and kiss his
neck softly. When he got to his ear he whispered, "You know I'll
never leave you. I love you, Kevin."

Kevin sniffed away the tears and broke the hug. He looked deep into
Aaron's eyes and smiled. They knew they both had each other. "We are
both bound to each others souls and it would be no surprise," Kevin
thought, "if Aaron just said that he felt that punch just the same
as I did."

The day went on without any more accidents or fights. They walked
home together hand-in-hand and kissed each other like always, at the
cross-roads.
