Chapter One

William woke up Monday morning to the sound of his alarm clock
playing "Just Like A Pill" by Pink. As he got up from his bed, he thought
"Damn, she's right about that". As he walked to the bathroom, he wondered
what the day ahead would be like now that he has graduated Junior High
School and he starts his first day of High School at Adlai E. Stevenson
High School in the Bronx New York. He wondered what kind of teachers are
going to be there and who will be sitting or meeting or talking to in the
Lunch room.

"William, its 7:30AM, don't forget to get ready for school", yelled
his mother from the kitchen.
"Would you like some breakfast, honey?", she asked.

"Yeah, mom. Bacon and eggs would be fine", he yelled back so his
mother could hear him.

"Okay, sweety. Just don't be late for school, this is your first
day, you know".

"I won't be late, mom", he said.

He thought, "Why do I have to go to school when I know I am going to get
picked on or some stupid idiot will play a trick on me since I am a
Freshman in High School". He got in the shower and let the hot water run
for a while, then put some cold water to make it warm enough to shower in.
He walked to his bedroom and turn on the TV while he looked for some
clothes in his closet. He was listening to the News on NY1, he heard the
forecaster say, "Today will be a pleasant day since it will be 65 degress
with a little wind during the afternoon". He thought, "Yeah, right. A
pleasant day maybe for you, but not me, lady". He chose to wear a black
shirt with his used to be favorite WWE wrestler Kane, and a some black
jeans and nike sneakers. "God, I hope today isn't that bad I am expecting
it to be", he thought. He walked to the kitchen to find his mother putting
the bacon and eggs on a plate and handing it to him.

	"Thanks, mom", he said.

	"You're welcome, honey", she replied.

He walked to the table and saw that it was 8:00AM, and still has time to
finish his breakfast and get to school. He ate the bacon and eggs and grab
a soda from the fridge, went to his bedroom and got his bookbag, his watch
and his car keys.

"I'll see you later, mom", he said as he gave a kiss to his mom on
her cheek.

"Be good in school, okay?", she said.

"No problem, mom", he said as he walked out the door and to his
car. He drove a blue 1998 Expedition that his mom had bought for him on
his 17th birthday. He unlocked the driver side and got in placing his
bookbag in the back. Before starting the ignition, he slipped in his CD and
music by Pink was starting to play in the car.

"I'm lying here, on the floor where you left, I think I took to
much, I thought it would be fun", he sang along with the music as it played
on the car stereo. He drove out of the parking lot into Havemeyer Ave.,
made a left turn on Randall Ave. and drove up to Castle Hill Ave. He
stopped at the red light and saw that his friend was approaching the car.

"Hey, William", his friend said as he walked to the passenger side.

"Hey, Justin", he said as he unlocked the passenger side to let
Justin in the car.

"Today is going to be some kind of day, isn't it?", he asked
William.

"Yeah, it sure is", he answered back.

William and Justin have know each other since Junior High School, they both
met for the first time in the Lunch room, luckily, Justin wasn't like the
other kids who started trouble. He and Justin started hanging after that,
getting each other's found number a few days later so they can chat on the
phone, and probably make plans to hang out.

As the green light hit, William made a right turn on Castle Hill, then
making a left on Seward Avenue. He drove up to the school, as he made a
right turn on Pugsley Ave.

"Damn, there are a lot of kids in this school", said Justin as
William looked for a parking space.

"Yeah, I heard there are about 2,000 to 4,000 students in this
school", William replied.

William found a parking spot.

"What time do we have to go into the school?"

"I think at 8:48AM", William said.

"I guess we should go in"

"Yeah, lets go", William said as he turn off the car and got out of
the driver side. He and Justin walked to the school to find that there are
a lot of people outside of the school rather than in the school.

"It seems like people don't go in until it's late", Justin said as
they walked to the entrance.

"Yeah, but let's not become them, we don't want to get into
trouble, especially on the first day of school".

They both walked in and was told to go to a lady at the desk so they can
get their pictures taken for their ID cards. They went to the lady to find
her looking through some papers.

"Excuse me, Miss", Justin said as they approached her.

"Yes, how can I help you?", she said as he looked up from the
papers.

"The guy at the door told us to come to you for a picture ID card".

	"Okay, what is your name?"

"My name is Justin Rodriguez", he said as the lady type it into the
computer.

"And you are?", she asked William.

"Oh, I'm William Serrano", he said to the lady as she type it into
the computer.

"Okay, Justin stand right over there", she said as she pointed to
the nearest wall.

"I'm going to take your picture", she said as she grabbed a camera
from her desk.

"Okay, now you stand where he was", she said to William.

"When do we get these ID cards?", Justin asked the lady as he
grabbed his bookbag from the floor.
"You'll get them later today during your lunch period", she said as
she took William's picture.
"All right, boys. We're done, now go to this class for your third
period class", she said to William and Justin as she handed them their
schedule.

"Okay, thanks", they both said as they walked to the screening
area.

William and Justion had to take off their bookbags to put into the machine,
and their belt. They walked into the walking metal detector. Neither of
them rang. They grab their bookbags and walked into the cafeteria to find
it half empty, and some Security guards walking saying for students who
have third periond classes to go inside to them.

"What class do you have now", asked Justin.

"I have Math now, then I have English", William answered.

"I have those two classes, too".

They walked to their class on the second floor, room 294 it read on the
roof on the door.

"Hello, gentleman. Are you both in this class", said the teacher.

	"Yes, Ms...", answered William.

"Mrs. Lawrence, and boys please do try to get here on time, Math is
not an easy subject if you are not here for the whole lesson. Now take your
seats and sign these Delaney cards", the teacher said as she handed them a
card.

They walked to a table where they both sat next to each other.

	"Hey, Justin", whispered William.

	"Yeah", answered Justin.

"What other classes do we have together besides Math and English?",
he whispered back.

"Here", Justin said as he passed his schedule to William.

Both of them had almost the same classes together except Science and
Computers. They looked at their watch and saw that it was 9:24AM, and they
looked at the class schedule and saw that class was going to end in about
10 minutes. They finished signing the Delaney card, took out their
notebooks and copied everything that the teacher had written on the board.

"RING!, RING!, RING!", rang the phone.

The teacher got up from her desk and walked to the phone. She picked it up
and was talking to some guy. They finished copying down everything from
the board. "Two minutes left", Justin thought. The bell soon rang, and all
the students headed out the class.

"Put the cards on my desk", the teacher said to William and Justin.

They put the cards on her desk and left the room with her still on the
phone.

They went to the classes they had during the morning, finally it was 6th
periond and they had lunch together. William went to the bathroom as
Justin waited for him outside. When William came out, they walked to the
cafeteria room 160. They showed their schedule to the Dean at the entrance
of the cafeteria and entered to find that it was full of students.

"Hey, want to grab some lunch", asked William as they walked to a
table where no one was at.

	"Yeah, in a minute".

	"What's wrong?", William asked.

	"Nothing, just tired", Justin answered.

"Don't worry, the day will rush by and we'll go to your place and
hang out, if you want".

"Yeah, but let's go to McDonalds first, I'd rather eat there".

	"Why not?", William asked curiously.

"Some of my friends said that school lunch at Stevenson is really
bad".

"Yeah, right! You know, you shouldn't believe everything people
say. They might be lying or something", William answered, laughing.

"Well either way, I'd rather not eat here".

Just then, a guy camp to their table and looked at them both, as if
checking them out or something. The guy didn't say anything for a while,
just ate chips which he bought from a vending machine. A few minutes later,
he finally spoke to them.

"Hey, you guys new to this school?", the guy asked.

"Yeah, we are", William answered for the both of them since Justin
seemed as if he wasn't in the mood to speak.

"Well, that's cool. This is my first year here, too. I don't know
anyone in this school."

"Neither do we, we started today".

"Oh, so where do you guys live?", he asked William.

"I live at 535 Havemeyer Ave., about three blocks from here".

"Were you the one who was driving the Expedition parked outside of
school".

"Yeah, why?", William asked wondering why would a guy ask him that
question.

"Nice, car. How old are you?", the guy asked.

"I'm 17yrs old, how old are you?".

"I'm 16yrs old, how about your friend there?" he asked, nodding
towards Justin.

Justin looked up at the guy and said, "I'm 17", then putting his head down
as if saying he didn't want to talk.

"So, uh, what's your name?", William asked the guy who was staring
at Justin.

"Oh, my name's Alex", he answered William, noticing he was caught
staring at Justin.

"I'm William, nice meeting you", William said.

"Yeah, you too, see you guys later", Alex said as he walked away
from them while staring at Justin.

Justin seemed tired and was really drifting off into sleep until William
woke him up and offered him something to eat and drink, which Justin had no
problem doing. After finishing eating and drinking, William told him what
had just happened.

"Hey, Justin", William whispered into his ear.

"Yeah", Justin said, lifting his head up from the table.

"You know that guy that was here a while ago?", William asked.

	"Yeah, what about him?"

"Well, his name is Alex and he was checking you out".

"Yeah, right", Justin answered now paying attention to William.

"No, really. He was checking you out. But, when I caught his eyes,
he just said he see us later".

"William, was he really checkng me out?", Justin asked really
wanting to know the answer.

"Yes, sweety, he was looking at you up and down", William said in a
femine voice, then chuckling.

	"Shut up!", Justin said giggling.

The bell rang which meant that Justin and William had Gym now, they headed
out of the lunch room along with the other students there. They went to the
boys locker room, and noticed that many guys were changing out of there
clothes and into shorts, or sweatpants. "Nice ass", William thought as he
passed a guy who was taking off his jeans. As Justin walked to the locker,
he noticed Alex the guy who was talking to William in the lunch was right
next to him, changing into shorts.

	"Hey, Justin", Alex said, nervously.

"Hey, Alex. You all right", Justin said noticing that Alex was
clearly nervous.

	"Yeah, I'm great."

"Okay, so what gym do you have", he asked hoping Alex had the same
as he did.

"Gym 1, Tennis", Alex answered while putting on his tank top shirt.

"Yeah, same here", Justin said as he opened the locker and threw in
his bookbag.

Justin started changing, taking off his black shirt and black jeans, and he
noticed that Alex was staring at him. He chuckled and thought, "Is he
gay?". William walked up to Justin as he finished getting changed for Gym
and said, "You ready man?", not noticing that Alex was there.

"Hey, William", Alex said, shifting his eyes off of Justin.

"Hey, man, you got tennis, too?".

"Yeah, I've had this class in Junior High before".

"Okay, so you guys ready to go to?", he asked both Justin and Alex.

The three walked from the Locker room to Gym1 which was a long hallway
towards the gym and back to the boys locker room. They saw that the class
had started but they were excused because they were new and didn't exactly
know when the class actually began. The teacher was really nice, she seemed
happy and let the students play, as if it was free time or something. Her
name was Ms. Bogash, she was about 5'9, blond hair, nice lady.

"All right, take your floor spots", Ms. Bogash said as she finished
blowing the whistle.

	"Justion you're H1, Alex you're H2, and William you are G1", she
said to the three.

They walked to their floor spots were the three spoke about Junior High
School and what it was like going there, and the kind of teachers were
there. It was fairly noticable that Alex was really interested in Justin by
the way he mostly looked at Justin than William. The teacher took the
attendence of the students and let them play Tennis, but rather than
playing Tennis, William, Justin and Alex walked to a corner wall of the gym
and sat there and continued talked unti Justin asked Alex a question.

So, Alex, you have a girlfriend", Justin asked, wondering if he was
gay or straight.

"I...well...I'm...", Alex stuttered nervously, not knowing how to
answer the question

"It's ok, we're gay, too", William said quickly rather than letting
Alex finish.

	"Oh, really?", Alex asked anxiously.

"Yeah, we are gay as gay can be", Justin answered laughing.

"You guys knew already I was gay, right?", Alex asked.

"Yeah, we knew, especially when you were staring at Justin in the
lunchroom", William said.

Alex didn't know what to say to what William just said, he just started
blushing and said nothing, only turning his attention to the students
playing Tennis. He thought that William and Justin would ask him more
questions or say something else about him staring at Justin during lunch,
but they didn't say anything else about it. The teacher blew the whistle
again, signaling that it was time to go to the locker rooms to change. The
three got up and walked to the boys locker room. Alex quickly changed into
his blue jeans and white shirt, and left without saying anything.

"What's wrong with him?", William asked Justin while changing.

"I think he left me a note in my locker", Justin answered as he
open the note which had Alex's name on it.

"Really? Well, what does it say?, William asked, looking at the
note as Justin read it.

The note read: "Dear Justin, I really think you're cute and are really a
nice guy, I've seen you around before, but I've never had the guts to tell
you that I've had a crush on you for a long time. I'd really like to get to
know you more. I hope to hear from you, please leave a note in my locker
with your answer". At the bottom of the note, it had his phone number and
his name.

"He likes me", Justin said blushing and putting the note in his
back jean pocket.

"He more than likes you Justin, he's crazy about you even", William
said, laughing.

"So, you're just jealous that he wrote a note to me and not to
you?".

"No, not really. He's all yours tiger.

William hid the truth from Justin but he really was a little jealous that
Justin had gotten a note from Alex, but not because he didn't get one, but
because he too, had a crush on Justin, he just never really told him that
in fear that he would get rejected or their friendship would end. William
finished changing as Justin locked his locker, then they both left the
locker room. They walked the walls wondering where Alex, might have gone
to, but they didn't see him nowhere in sight. They to their last class, but
they didn't have the same class together this time. William had Global
History, and Justin had a Math Skills class. Justin wasn't really good at
Math, so he was put to have Math two times each day. They agreed to meet at
William's car after class was over. William didn't like the idea that his
class of the day had to be without Justin. He thought about the note Justin
received, "He likes me", he remembered Justin saying about Alex after
reading the note. Man this really sucks, he thought to himself. Why isn't
it that I have never came out to Justin and told him that I like him?, he
asked himself. I mean, he knows I'm gay and I know he's gay, but, oh fuck,
why didn't I tell him before, he yelled in his mind and tears started
forming around his eyes.

"Uh, Mr.Rodriguez, will you be joining us this afternoon?", the
teacher asked.

"Um, yeah, I will be", William said, wiping the tears around his
eyes before entering the class, and having everyone laugh at him
because the teacher had asked him a question.

"All right students, welcome to Adali E. Stevenson High School, I
will be your teacher for this term. My name is Mr.Jackson. I will tell you
the rules about
this class, and what is expected from you students in my class in
order to pass this term, now..."

William had put his head down on the table and drifted to sleep. He had a
weird dream about Alex and Justin being together, making out and all in
front of him and he was crying because it was Alex, not him, who was with
Justin and was making out with him. He tried to walk towards Justin but he
couldn't move, he realized he was tied onto a chair. "What the fuck is
going?", he yelled at Justin but he didn't receive a repsonse from
Justin. "I thought you'd like to see your friend Justin and I making out in
front of you, since you aren't man enough to tell him you have a crush on
him!", he heard Alex yell.

"Excuse me, Mr.Rodriguez?", Mr.Jackson said while tapping on
William's hand and causing him to wake up.

	"Yes, sir?", William asked tiredly.

"Do you know that class is over, Mr.Rodriguez?"

"Uh, no I didn't know, sir?"

"Well, it is, I suggest you copy down the homework, then get home
and get some rest because sleeping is not allowed in my classroom".

"I'm sorry, sir, I..." he was cut off.

"No need to apologize, just make sure this doesn't happen again,
okay?"

	"Yeah, no problem".

William copied the homework, grabbed a textbook and left the school towards
his car where he found Justin waiting for him.

"Hey, what happened to you?", Justin asked.

"Nothing, just fell asleep in class", he answered.

"Well, want me to drive instead?", he asked William, sensing he was
still tired.

"Yeah, sure", he said, handing the car keys to Justin.

As Justin was going to pull away from the curb, he noticed Alex was a block
away. He didn't know whether to go to him, or just drive away. He looked
towards William who had fallen asleep, so he decided to just drive away and
talk to Alex later, or call him. Justin slip in William's CD in the car
stereo and started playing "In My Dreams" by Tina Ann.

"Love, when I find someone, I look for you to guide my cause I fill
you with my heart, even when you're not with me. Love is my sweet
penalty, takes the pain away from me...", Justin sang along with
the song.

He drove to McDonalds' drive thru window and ordered two double
cheeseburgers and two cokes. He drove up to the window, paid for the food,
then drove towards his apartment. He didn't live far from school or far
from William, he actually lived a block away from William. The only reason
they would drive is because they'd rather listen to music and maybe go to
the Village, but today was a Monday afternoon. Also, he and William were
tired so they wouldn't be able to go to the Village in Manhattan now.

Justin lived alone in a three bedroom apartment, William sometimes stayed
with him for a couple of weeks because he was an only child and his mom and
dad weren't home a lot, either. So, they kept each other company. As he
pulled into the parking lot, he woke up William and told him that they
should go upstairs and eat, then probably do homework.

"Hey, sweety?", Justin kissed William's cheek as he awoke.

"Yeah, Justin?", he asked still tired and wanting to go back to
sleep.

"Let's get upstairs and eat, okay?"

"All right", William said, not really wanting to get up.

Justin turned off the car, grab his and William's bookbag, and the
McDonald's bag and headed into the building. They went into the lobby and
entered the elevator as it open. William pressed the nine button since
Justin's hands were busy with everything they had. They walked out of the
elevator and to the hallway of the building.

"Grag the keys from my pocket", he said to William.

"Okay", he answered reaching into Justin's front jean pockets. He
opened the door and let himself and Justin inside. William walked directly
to the couch and threw himself on it as Justin walked to the table placing
their bookbags, and the McDonald's bag on it. He grabbed the bag and took
out the two cheeseburgers and two cokes, and walked to William who had
turned on the TV and handed him a cheeseburger and coke.

"Thanks", he said as he kissed Justin on the cheek.

"Anytime sweety", Justin said as he sat down next to William on the
couch.

"Are you going to call Alex anytime soon?", he asked Justin,
curiosity getting the best of him.

"I don't think so, he may be cute and nice, but I'd rather stick
with you than go with him", he answered.

"Oh, that's so sweet", he said as he gave Justin a big hug.

"Do you want to spend the night here tonight?", he asked William.

"Yeah, sure, its fun being here with you all the time, hanging out,
talking about guys, and well, you know.." he trailed off.

	Justin laughed, "I know what?".

"Snuggling up together on your bed with you every night is really
cool, too", he said.

"Well, I know that. It's warmer with you here, too", he said taking
a bit out of the cheeseburger and drinkng some coke.

"After this, let's get our homework done and we'll..." he stopped,
wondering what is there to do.

	"And we'll what?", William asked.

"We'll go to the movies", Justin answered him.

"On a Monday night?", he asked.

	"Yeah, sure, why not?"

"No problem with me, what do you want to watch?", he asked Justin.

"Not sure, I don't know what's out these days", Justin replied.

After they finished eating their cheeseburgers, they headed to Justin's
room to do some homework. His room was a big room, which had a big stereo
and some piles of CDs, a desk with a Dell computer on it, a big screen TV,
and he had a queen size bed, which he and William shared when he slept
over, or stayed for a couple of weeks. They both layed on Justin's bed
doing some homework and Justin remembered that Alex had given him a
note. He pulled it out of his back jean pocket and read it over
again. William noticed him looking at the note, and his smile was rather
big as he finished reading the note.

"Hey, do you think I should call him?", he asked William, snapping
out of his staring at Justin.

"Um, I don't know, if you want to", he answered back without a
second thought. He really hoped that he didn't call him because he didn't
want to have Alex and Justin together, like the dream he had in
school today.

"I think I'll just write him a note", Justin said.

"Yeah, that's cool, too, I guess", William said in almost a
whisper.

William and Justin finished doing their homework for the day and thought
talked about the note Justin had been given by Alex.

" You know, he really seems to like me", he said to William.

"I really seem to more than like you, too", William said to
himself.

"What did you say?", Justin asked.

	"Oh, nothing", William shrugged.

"Do you like me, William?", he asked.

"Of course I like you", he answered, as he kissed Justin on the
cheek and hoping to avoid the next question he thought
	 would come up.

"No, I mean really like me, as in boyfriends kind of like?", he
asked getting to the point.

"Well, I do, yeah, but, uh..", he was cut off as Justin layed on
top of him and kissed him passionately on the lips. William not knowing how
to react and shocked what was being done to him, did nothing except close
his eyes.

"Oh, I'm sorry, man I didn't mean to...", Justin said as he got off
of William. He felt that William was uncomfortable since the look on his
face sorta of showed it.

"No, it's ok, really,", William said, then he got up to face
Justin. He walked towards Justin and place his hands on Justin's neck and
kissed him the same way he had been kissed, adding tongue to the kissing.

"Are we now boyfriends?", Justin asked as they parted from kissing
looking into his eyes for the answer.
