The Conclusion of Book One

intended for people mature enough to appreciate it, but legally that means

consensual sex between male siblings and other family and non-family
members.

Earthquake facts were from Wikipedia and various other online news stories
of the time. I also altered the name of the real mayor (James D. Phelan) to
Seth to fit the stories' need.

It's the early spring of 1906 and Alex and Brave Eagle have returned to the
reservation instead of staying in San Francisco after their visit with his
brothers. Civilization proved to be too much for Brave Eagle, so Alex took
him back to his people.

By the 1890s, San Francisco was the crown jewel of California and referred
to as the Paris of the west. But San Francisco was suffering from machine
politics and corruption once again, and was ripe for political reform.
Adolph Sutro ran for mayor in 1894 under the auspices of the Populist Party
and won handily without campaigning. Unfortunately, except for the Sutro
Baths, a large, privately owned swimming pool complex, Mayor Sutro
substantially failed in his efforts to improve the city.

The next mayor, was Seth MacDaniels, elected in 1896, was more successful,
pushing through a new city charter that allowed for the ability to raise
funds through bond issues. He was able to get bonds passed to construct a
new sewer system, seventeen new schools, two parks, a hospital, and a main
library.

After leaving office in 1901, Seth became interested in remaking San
Francisco into a grand and modern Paris of the West. When the San Francisco
Art Association asked him to draft a plan for the beautification of the
city, he hired famed architect Daniel Burnham. Burnham and Seth's plan was
ambitious, envisioning a fifty year effort to transform the city with wide
diagonal boulevards creating open spaces and squares as they crossed the
orthogonal grid of existing streets. Some parts of the plan were eventually
implemented, including an Opera house to the north of City Hall, a subway
under Market Street, and a waterfront boulevard, The Embarcadero, circling
the city.

Jacob and Seth Jr. were busy running the Palace Hotel while Seth busied
himself with the politics of the city.

"Jacob, Mr. Caruso wants the roses removed from his room," Seth Jr. said as
he hung up the telephone. "He claims it unhealthy for his voice," he added.

"Send Marie to his room and have them removed immediately," he ordered.

"I just remembered Jacob, father called and he said that he's unable to
meet you for lunch," Seth Jr. told him.

"What, he and I were to discuss the plans for the hotel's renovations," he
angrily said. "It seems that he is always way to busy lately."

"Yes Jacob, I am finding him to be the same way with me. And what about
your dinner date later with Caleb, are you still on with that?"

"Yes I am, would you call him please and see if he might be persuaded to
leave the boys home,"

he asked. "They are far to wild for Tapestry Room and will only upset our
guests while dining with their antics," he added.

The building shook mildly, and Jacob and Seth looked up at the chandeliers
that wavered briefly.

"Just a minor one," Seth Jr. said returning to his current conversation.

"Well minor or not, one of these days this city is going to see a big one
and thank God we are built to withstand it," Jacob said and then walked
away.

Seth Jr. watched his brother as he slowly walked away, and he loved how
proudly he carried himself. He watched him as he would stop and chat
briefly with the various guests, and it marveled him how he could be at
ease with it all. It didn't matter what station in life the guests were
from, Jacob could make that guest feel like he or she were the hotel's most
valued of guests. Seth Jr. had been in love with Jacob for some time, but
because of Jacob's relationship with their father, he had remained quiet
about his feelings for him.

"Ah Mr. Caruso, I have handled the rose situation," Jacob said as he
greeted the great opera singer as he entered the grand lobby.

"I appreciate your special touches sir, but the rose's scent aggravates my
sinuses which upset my voice," he said in his snobbish of tones.

"I am most sorry sir and roses shall not be placed in your room again
during your stay," he assured him and the man dismissed Jacob as if he were
but a commoner.

*** Across town in city hall, Seth and his personal secretary Daniel Dunlop
kissed heatedly. The two men are naked and lying on the settee in Seth's
office.

"Relax and let me take care of this for you," Daniel said as he lowers his
mouth down to Seth's cock.

Daniel slowly ran his tongue around the sensitive head of Seth's cock which
caused Seth to moan as he laid there enjoying the attention on his cock.
Daniel wrapped his lips tightly around his cock and slowly moved down his
shaft until his nose was buried in his pubes. He gently squeezed his balls
as he moved up and down his cock, giving special attention to the head each
time he reached the top.

"I can't hold it back Daniel," Seth said as his cock erupted with his cum.

He shot his cum into Daniel's mouth, as he held his mouth fully down on his
cock. He released his grip and Daniel moved feverishly up and down his
cock, milking the sweet nectar from his balls until Seth had none left to
give him.

"God I needed that," Seth said once Daniel dropped his cock.

Seth pulled him up to him and they kiss, letting Seth taste his cum that
still lingered in Daniel's mouth. Seth ran his tongue around the inside of
Daniel's mouth tasting his cum, savoring its sweetness.

"Feel better handsome," Daniel asked looking down at Seth.

"Yes Daniel thanks," he said. "But you didn't cum," he said spreading his
legs. "Fuck me Daniel, and call me cowboy," he said as he positioned
Daniel's cock to his pucker.

"Are you sure Seth, I only did that to relieve you," he asked and Seth
pulled him close causing Daniel's cock to slide into him.

Daniel slid all the way in until he bottomed, and he sighed as the
sensation of being in the man that he's loved since they met swept through
him. He began slowly fucking him and soon they were moving as one with
Seth rising to meet Daniel's thrusts.

"Oh God Daniel fuck me," Seth said with his eyes closed.

"You want it deeper and harder Cowboy," he whispered in Seth's ear, who
moaned his affirmation to Daniel.

"Mmmm yeah sweetheart," he moaned out as he thrusts harder upwards to meet
Daniel's thrusts.

Daniel picked up his rhythm and was now slamming Seth's ass deeper and
harder.

"Pinch my nipples Cowboy," he asked and Seth reached for them and twisted
them between his fingers. "Fuck yeah Cowboy," he yelled as he pounded his
ass, drawing his edge closer.

"Fuck me baby," Seth crowed, using the name he called Jacob. "More baby,
I'm cumming again," and he shot his second load out hitting his chest.

"Ride my cock Cowboy I'm cumming," Daniel shouts as he worked his cock
closer to his edge.

"Fuuuuck Cowboy I'm shooting," he howled as he shot his hot cum deep into
Seth's ass.

The two were fucking fast and furiously now as they shot their sperm,
gasping for air as they slowly come down, and Daniel collapsed on Seth.
They kissed just as hard and furious as they fucked, riding out their
lust's afterglow.

"Damn babe I needed that too," Daniel said struggling to regain normal
breathing.

"You are the best decision that I ever made baby, that day I hired you,"
Seth said and kissed his illicit lover again. "Now how about lunch, sex
always leaves me famished," Seth said and Daniel pulled his softened cock
from his lover's ass.

"Let's call it desert, because I just had the main course," he said and
gave Seth a kiss before getting up.

*** "Lone Wolf, your brother just called and asked if it would be possible
to leave Lone Eagle and Peace home tonight," Running Deer asked.

Lone Wolf and Running Deer lived on Nob Hill, which was one of San
Francisco's wealthiest neighborhoods. The area was settled in the rapid
urbanization happening in the city in the late 19th century. Because of the
views and its central position, it became an exclusive enclave of the rich
and famous on the west coast who built large mansions in the
neighborhood. This included prominent tycoons such as Leland Stanford,
founder of Stanford University and other members of The Big Four.

The Big Four was the name popularly given to the chief entrepreneurs in the
building of the Central Pacific Railroad, the western portion of the First
Transcontinental Railroad in the United States. However, the four of them
preferred to be known as "the Associates" and they were: Leland Stanford -
President, Collis P. Huntington - Vice President, Mark Hopkins - Treasurer
and Charles Crocker - Construction supervisor and president of Charles
Crocker & Company, a CP subsidiary.

So when Lone Wolf and Running Deer returned with their children to San
Francisco, Seth and Jacob had a spacious mansion built for them there on
Nob Hill. Although to each other, they remained Lone Wolf and Running Deer,
it was outside the home that they went by Caleb and Rhett, a name that
Caleb gave him because it was his grandfather's name.

"Why is it that they always insist on us leaving the boys home with the
nanny," Caleb asked, frustrated with his brother. "I have a good mind to
build my own damn hotel and be in competition with the snobby Palace of
theirs."

"Sweetheart, he's your brother and you were the one that insisted years ago
that we return here for the boys, so let's just leave them home and enjoy
an evening out together."

"Well I still liked life better when it was just you and me in our tipi
darling," Caleb said taking his lover into his arms and kissing him.

"Do you have to do that dad all the time," Lone Eagle said in disgust when
he stepped into the room.

"He's my lover and I can kiss him anytime I want to," Caleb said in defense
of his actions. "So what is it that you want son?"

"Peace and I want to know if we can go over to Brian Stanford's house for
the evening," he asked.

"Were you invited by the parents or just by Brian?" Caleb asked.

"Ah...I guess he would have to have gotten their permission to have us
over, wouldn't he dad?"

"Is Brian here," he asked and Lone Eagle nodded yes. "Let me talk to him
please before I give you my answer," Caleb said to a frustrated Lone Eagle
and he dashed off to get the boy.

"Why do they insist on using their Shoshoni names Rhett?" he asked, upset
that the boys refused to use the Christian names that they had been given.

"Well ever since you told them lover what their Indian names were, they
have used nothing but them since.

"Well I don't mind around the house, but outside is another matter," he
snapped and Lone Eagle returned with Brian beside him.

"Brian, do your parents know that my sons are coming over for the evening?"
Caleb asked because Leland didn't care for Caleb or Rhett at all.

In fact he detested Indians and resented the day that Seth built the house
across from his and Caleb moved in with his family. Even though they tried
to fit in by cutting their hair and dressing according to their station
now, he still resented them for being Native Americans.

"My parents are away on a business trip back east sir," Brian said. "I am
home with my nanny and the staff," he added. "My nanny said that it was
alright sir, call her if you need confirmation of it," he added.

"That won't be necessary Brian; I'll take your word for it. I suppose that
they may, as long as you both are home by nine," Caleb instructed.

"Can Brian stay overnight with us dad...pleeeeeeeease dad," Lone Eagle
begged.

"That's fine as long as his nanny is in agreement, but I want you boys in
this house by nine," he strictly said.

"You're the best dad, thanks and I love you," Lone Eagle said and he and
Brian were gone before Caleb had second thoughts.

"Now see darling, they would not have wanted to go anyway," Rhett said
kissing his lover, as Brian stepped back into the room.

"Ah...excuse me sir," he said, causing the two men to jump from his
intrusion. "I just wanted to say thank you also," he said blushing at
having caught them kissing.

"Brian...about what you just saw," Caleb said to the boy.

"There's no need to apologize sir, I think that was rather sweet seeing you
two kissing," he said standing there. "Don't worry, mum's the word about it
also," he said and turned, leaving them standing there dumb founded.

"You do know what today is Caleb," Rhett asked and Caleb gave it a thought
before answering.

"April seventeenth, why?" he asked.

"It's your father's birthday and that is why the big dinner at the hotel,"
Rhett reminded him.

"I remembered and I got him a new pocket watch for his birthday," he said.

*** Seth paced his room while Jacob dressed; he was upset that he had to
dine with the family for his birthday. Over the last few years, Seth had
been ignoring his birthdays, wishing to forget that he was getting
older. As Jacob donned his tuxedo and put the finishing touches to Seth's
tie, he asked about why he had skipped lunch today.

"I was very busy son with plans for our city's new buildings, why?" he
asked.

"You never seem to have time for me anymore dad, and it seems that Daniel
sees you more than I do," he remarked.

"Nonsense son, I see you every night at home," he told him, but none to
convincingly.

"That's also the problem, we never make love anymore. It seems that you are
either to tired or are asleep before I can come to bed."

"I promise you Jacob, that tonight we will make love baby," he said and
kissed his son briefly.

"You call that a kiss, now this is a kiss," he told Seth and kissed him
hard and long until they were both gasping for air.

"Excuse me sir, but reservations are for seven and it's already five of,"
Daniel said stepping into the room, and stared at the two men kissing.

"How many times must I tell you Daniel, this is our private room and I want
you to knock before entering," Jacob snapped at the young man.

"We are coming Daniel, that'll be all," Seth said with a warm smile, which
did not go unnoticed by Jacob. "Why must you yell at the boy, he is only
doing his job," Seth said in Daniel's defense.

"Whatever father...can we go then," Jacob asked sarcastically as he brushed
by Seth and Daniel.

"Seth...I'm sorry if..."

"Don't worry about him baby, he'll get over it," Seth said and gave his
lover a sweet kiss, which Jacob saw from the mirror that he was using to
straighten his tie.

"Shall we love," Seth asked stopping beside Jacob, who was fighting back
his tears.

"I am quite capable of finding my own way to dinner sir," he said
sarcastically and walked off leaving Seth standing there wondering.

*** They arrived right at seven, and Jacob walked a step behind Seth as
they entered the elaborately decorated Tapestry Room. The room rose as Seth
entered, applauding his entrance and shouting happy birthday. Seth waved to
his family and friends as he took his seat at the table. Just as Jacob and
Seth sat, Daniel arrived, and he too was dressed in a tuxedo. As he took a
seat beside Seth, Jacob leaned over to his father and whisper...

"What's the matter father, you couldn't get through the evening without
your whore beside you?"

Seth turned; he was livid at the remark and slapped Jacob's face hard, much
to the shock of the guests that were attending.

"I will not tolerate such a remark Jacob," Seth scolded. "Now apologize,"
he ordered.

Jacob stood and looked at Daniel before speaking. "I am sorry for calling
Daniel a whore, I am sure that the services that he gives you father, he
doesn't charge you for," he said irately, tossing his napkin on the table
and leaving. The room was deathly quiet as the guests watched Jacob walk
from the room, and Caleb quickly stood, running after his brother.

"Jacob please wait up," he called out before he stepped onto the
elevator. "What was that about,"

he asked, pulling his brother aside.

"Dad and Daniel are fucking around is what," he snapped at Caleb. "I had
heard as much but I didn't want to believe it Caleb. But tonight when they
thought my back was turned, I saw dad from the mirror kissing Daniel."

"There has got to be an explanation Jacob, dad loves you," Caleb told him.

"Well then why haven't we made love but once in the last three months
brother dear, tell me that.

You know dad, he is always the first one in bed and waiting for sex," he
told his brother.

"I wouldn't know about that, you are the one he's been fucking Jacob. Maybe
he's having second thoughts about you and him," he suggested.

"After all these years, now he gets a case of guilty conscience? No it's
that little tramp Daniel; he's been throwing himself at dad ever since he
got hired. Besides, do you see dad out here trying to prove me wrong?" he
asked as Seth and Daniel walked from the room. "I rest my case Caleb,"
Jacob said and stepped onto the elevator, and as it descended, Jacob and
Seth's eyes met and you could see the pain between them.

"How handsome you look this evening Caleb," Daniel said trying to lighten
the situation.

"Stuff it slut," Caleb said and returned to the room, leaving Seth standing
there in shock.

*** Caleb and Rhett arrived home early, around eight, and Caleb was upset
about his father and brother. He not only was upset with them, but he
disliked how their own lives have evolved since coming back to California.

"Sweetheart, would it bother you if we were to go back to the life where we
were happy and free?" he asked his lover as the cuddled together in front
of a fire.

"I was always happy Caleb wherever you were," he responded cuddled tight in
his lover's arms.

"I miss that way of life and our people, but what will the boys think?"

"That you will have to ask them, but I think that they will welcome the
challenge. After all Caleb, they are teenagers and can adapt to most any
situation. Look at Lone Eagle; he has this hunger for adventure while Peace
has a calming effect on him."

"I'll talk to them tomorrow over breakfast and see what they think," he
said. "Now if I know my sons, they will not be home until almost ten. So
what say you and I make love right here in front of the fire," he said and
took the wine from his lover before crawling on top of him.

"I love you so much Lone Wolf, make love to me like we use to," he said and
kissed his mate passionately.

Lone Wolf gave a gentle but firm push and his cock went all the way, until
it bottomed.

"Fuck me lover, give me your love," Running Deer moaned out as the warm
sensation of fullness coursed through him.

It was not long before they found a rhythm to fuck by and Lone Wolf leaned
down to kiss his Indian lover. They kissed hard and long as they made
love, and Running Deer was cooing as a dove beneath Lone Wolf. Lone Wolf
fucked his husband as he gazed into his eyes, and could tell that Running
Deer's heart was full of love for him.

"Shhhh listen...our dads are making love in the other room," Lone Eagle
said to Peace and Brian.

"You are so lucky Lone Wolf, to have parents that can express their love
for each other without any of the inhibitions that others have," Brian said
as the three boys watched the two men from the shadows of the foyer.

"Let's go to our room and give them their privacy," Peace said and both
Lone Eagle and Brian took Peace by the hand as they walked to their
bedroom.

"Fuck me Lone Wolf, I need to feel that cock of yours as it explodes in
me," he said holding him by the hips.

Lone Wolf rose up, began to fuck him more aggressively and soon they find
that their rhythm had taken over. Running Deer was meeting Lone Wolf's
thrusts with pushes of his own, and howling out his pleasure.

"Yeah, fuck me harder and deeper," he crowed in native Comanche as Lone
Wolf began to pound his ass.

He is fucking his ass with every ounce of energy he had. They fucked for
nearly a half hour when Lone Wolf could feel Running Deer's ass tighten,
and he knew that he was ready to shoot.

He pushed his legs higher, and slammed his cock deeper, as Running Deer
shot his sweet load.

"Ooooooh fuck Lone Wolf, fuck me sweetheart," he screamed as he jerked his
cock to the same rhythm that Lone Wolf was aggressively fucking him with.

His hot cum was shooting everywhere as Lone Wolf plowed his ass, and it
shoved Lone Wolf over the edge also, as Running Deer's ass contracted
around Lone Wolf's member and he howled out in delight.

"I going to cum lover," and Running Deer began to pull him in faster and
deeper, thrusting up to give him more of his ass.

"Yeah sweetheart, ride my cock," he screamed as he felt his cum move up
from his balls. "Aaaah fuck...here it comes," and he shot his seed deep
into his ass.

"Oh fuck I can feel you shooting in me," Running Deer said as he thrusts
up, to get him deeper in him.

"Yeah fuck me lover," Lone Wolf moaned and Running Deer pulled Lone Wolf
down into a kiss, as he fucked him and filled his receptive ass with his
cum.

"I never came like this before, and I didn't want to stop," Lone Wolf said
as his cock softened and it fell from his ass as they kissed.

They held tight to each other, as they rode out their sweet afterglow, both
of them drained from their passion. They lay there, surrounded by silence
and Running Deer's hand brushed the hair from Lone Wolf's forehead. He
looked up at Lone Wolf and he could feel Lone Wolf's love for him in his
heart.

"I love it when you make love to me Lone Wolf," he said with a smile, and
they kissed. "I love you my lover," and they both cried as they clung to
each other, contented in their love's afterglow.

"I love you more than life sweetheart, and I would lay down my life for
you," he said softly in Running Deer's ear, and then nibbled the tender
lobe.

Running Deer turned his lover unto his back and straddled him, looking down
with devious eyes at the brave.

"Now it's my turn to thrill my big brave warrior," he said to Lone Wolf,
who instantly pulled his legs up to surrender his rosebud to his captive.

"Take me you handsome warrior," he told him and Running Deer slid his cock
deep into his lover.

*** It is 5:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 18, 1906.

"Damn that alarm," Jacob said as he rolled over and shut it off. "Dad...dad
are you here," he called out and then he remembered the night before. "Well
I hope you and your whore are happy," he said as he got out of bed and
walked to the water closet for his morning duties.

Jacob had decided to get back in bed for just a few more minutes when the
shock came, and hurled Jacob's bed across the room to the opposite wall,
against the door. He sprung up and held firmly to the headboard, where he
managed to keep his feet against the door. The shock was constantly growing
heavier; rumbles, crackling noises, and falling objects already commenced
the din, and Jacob got off the bed, just as it hurled itself across the
room again, shattering apart.

The door refused to open; the earthquake had wedged it in the doorframe.
Seth Jr. was pushing on the opposite side as Jacob pulled with all his
strength from his side.

"It won't budge," Jacob yelled when again a sudden twist of the building
released it, and the door sprang open.

Jacob and Seth Jr. braced themselves in the doorway, clinging to the door
jams, for fear of the ceiling falling in on them.

"Where is father," Seth Jr. asked over the roar of the destruction.

"He never came home last night, so I reckon he slept with his whore," Jacob
said as a large part of the ceiling fell.

It grew constantly worse, the noise was deafening; the crash of dishes,
falling pictures, the rattle of the flat tin roof, bookcases being
overturned, the piano hurled across the parlor, the groaning and straining
of the building itself, broken glass and falling plaster, made such a roar
that no one noise could be distinguished.

They never knew when the chimney came tearing through the skylight, falling
to the grand court below. They never knew when a great marine picture
weighing over one hundred and twenty- five pounds crashed down to the
floor, not eight feet away from them; they were frequently shaken loose
from their hold on the door, and only kept their footing by mutual help and
their utmost efforts. The floor moved like short, choppy waves of the sea,
crisscrossed by a tide as mighty as them, and the ceiling responded to all
the angles of the floor.

"I hope that we come out of this alive," Jacob said as he and Seth
Jr. looked across to the parlor, their faces white with fear as the floors
gave way before them. "I told you that we were in for a real big one," he
reminded his brother of his earlier day's words.

"How a building can stand such motion and keep its frame intact is a
mystery to me," Seth Jr.

shouted above the horrendous noise.

"It was built structurally to withstand an event such as this," Jacob said
as the floor underneath Seth Jr gave way, and he grabbed his brother,
pulling the two of them and falling backwards into the disheveled bedroom.

"Thanks Jake, I would have died had it not been for you," he said lying on
top of Jacob, just as the rest of the ceiling came down, covering them both
with plaster, timber and tin.

*** Across town on Nob Hill, Lone Wolf and Running Deer were still
asleep. About 5:15 a.m. Lone Wolf was suddenly awakened by a small picture,
which usually hung on the wall above their bed, falling on his head. He
realized at once that an earthquake was occurring and waking Running Deer,
they made for the doorway of their bedroom in which they stood so as to
have the protection of the lintel if the chimney fell through the roof.

"Lone Eagle, Peace, Brian, get up and get into your doorway," Running Deer
screamed above the noise and suddenly the wall across from him
disappeared. "Lone Wolf, our sons," he cried when he saw that part of the
house gone.

"Father," they heard Peace calling out from the water closet. "We are in
the water closet in the bathtub," he told them, "but it's teetering on the
edge and about to fall."

"I'm coming son," Lone Wolf called out and along with Running Deer ran as
ably as they could to the water closet, only to find the room gone and the
tub about to go over the edge. "Don't move boys and for God's sake do not
try to get out," he ordered as he ran off.

He appeared several moments later with a rope and secured an end around his
waist. With Running Deer holding him, he tossed the other end to the boys,
all this while the house violently shook. The boys grabbed onto the rope
and Lone Eagle tied the end around his own waist. Just as the two men began
pulling, a violent upheaval shook the house, sending the tub and boys over
the edge.

Lone Wolf and Running Deer fell to the floor and slid towards the missing
room, stopping their movement at the door. Lone Wolf could tell that at
least one of his sons was at the other end of the rope, because the weight
on the rope was great.

"Dad pull us up," Lone Eagle screamed and Lone Wolf and Running Deer pulled
as best they could. The shaking and moving of the house refused to yield
them any ground in their efforts.

"Son, how far below is the ground," Lone Wolf called out.

"Maybe ten or so feet dad, but there is all kinds of debris below us. I
don't know if we could land safely dad," he shouted back.

"Then just hold on until this passes," he told him.

"Dad we lost Brian, I can see below and he not moving," Peace said, and
Lone Wolf's heart sank in pain for the boy.

"This can't last much longer son, so please hold tight until it does."

Just as he finished his words, it ended and an ominous quiet followed. The
building began to shake violently, and Lone Wolf feared an aftershock.

"Hold on boys...here comes another one," he yelled and the house began to
fall apart, throwing Running Deer and Lone Wolf over the edge along with
the boys.

*** The plaster, wood and tin began to give way and a bruised but alright
Jacob and Seth Jr.

emerged. They assessed their situation and crawled carefully towards the
stairwell, only to find that the stairs were missing.

"Mr. MacDaniels are you alright," Jacob's night manager yelled from two
floor below.

"Yes we are Dennis, have you seen or heard from my father," he asked
shouting down to the man.

"I'll get a ladder up to you sir," he said and disappeared.

"Did he see or hear from him Jake?"

"I don't know, he just said he'll get a ladder and left," he said to his
brother.

"Jake, I don't know if we are going to get out of this alive or not, so
there is something that I need to tell you," Seth Jr. said looking at his
brother.

"What are you talking about, if we get out of this alive? I for one intend
on getting out of this Seth and I intend on taking you with me," he
reassured his brother.

"Well, whether or not we do Jake, I want you to know that I am in love with
you," Seth said and turned from his brother.

"You're what...in love with me Seth?" he was shocked by his words. "Please
look at me Seth,"

he asked but his brother refused to look.

Jacob turned his face to his, Seth's tears were rolling down his cheeks and
the boy fell into Jacob's arms and cried.

"I'm sorry Jake, but I didn't want to die without telling you just how I
felt about you. I know that you and father are lovers, but I was hoping
that maybe someday you could love me like that," he said, still unable to
look at his brother.

"Well Seth that someday may come sooner than you think, because dad and I
are through. It seems that he and Daniel are involved and he's not had time
for me in months," he said as Dennis appeared with a ladder.

"I don't think that the ladder will reach sir, can you manage to lower
yourself down to the next floor," Dennis shouted up to Jacob.

"Dennis, what if you climb up the ladder and then pull the ladder up to
you. Once you have it on the floor below me it will reach," Jacob explained
to him.

"Oh yes...I should have thought of that." He said as he began to climb the
ladder up to the sixth floor.

"Have you seen or heard from my father yet Dennis," he asked again, but
still Dennis remained quiet. "Dennis I want an answer and I want it now,"
Jacob shouted.

"Ah sir...I had assumed that he was upstairs with you sir. The part of the
hotel that his secretary lived in collapsed and is buried under tons of
rubble sir," he added and Jacob's heart nearly stopped with the news.

"No, he went over there before the quake Dennis," he said as panic now
swept over him. "Hurry and get me down from here," he shouted and the
ladder came to rest against where he knelt.

Jacob and Seth Jr. climbed down the ladder to the sixth floor and then down
to the fifth, where they were able to take the remaining stairs down to the
ground level. As soon as they got to the street, the outside wall of the
building that housed Daniel's suite was in the street, exposing the rooms
like a doll house. A few people were in the street in their night clothes
and barefoot, crying, moaning and wringing their hands.

"Have you seen my father," Jacob asked Martin, the head of housekeeping for
the hotel, but he, like Dennis had not seen him.

"Jacob," yelled Seth from the edge of one of the exposed rooms.

Jacob looked up to see his father standing there alongside Daniel. Their
faces were covered in blood as well as were their clothing, and Jacob
gasped when he saw his father standing there. He was on the third floor and
apparently had no way down.

"Father, the stairwell is safe to use," Jacob called up to him.

"I can't get to it son, that part of the hotel is buried with debris. I am
going to climb down with this rope that I found," he shouted.

"No father, please wait until help arrives," Seth Jr. cried out as another
aftershock rocked the building.

Seth grabbed onto the exposed studs and hung on for dear life, while Daniel
rocked back and forth before falling head long down to the rubble below.

"Nooooo," Seth cried out as he watched his lover fall to his death and
Jacob turned his head because he was unable to watch.

The body of Daniel lay among the rubble and Seth stood above and cried, his
heart broken to see the man that he had fallen in love with die.

"I'm sorry father for what I said to you last night," he shouted up to
Seth, not caring who heard his words.

"I'm sorry son that I never told you about Daniel and me, he really was a
nice man," he said through his tears. "I really never wanted to hurt you
son, can you ever forgive me," he asked.

"There is nothing to forgive dad, I love you and that is all that matters,"
Jacob said as his own tears fell like rain. "Please wait until help arrives
dad...please...for Seth and me," he begged, when another, and more violent
tremor shock the area.

Seth grabbed on tight to the stud, but the wall gave out and he plummeted
down to the ground along with the remnants of the wall. Jacob and Seth
Jr. ran over to where he landed, and he was barely clinging to life.

"I'm sorry Jacob...really sorry that we ended this way son. I love you so
much and it was never my intention to hurt you with Daniel," he said and he
struggled to get a breath.

"Father please don't talk, save your strength until help arrives," Jacob
said.

"It'll be to late son and we both know it. I love you Jacob and you also
Seth. Now make me proud and carry on what we have built together sons. Go
find your brother and tell him that I love him also," he struggled to say
and pulled Jacob to him, kissing him.

Jacob kissed his father as his tears fell from his eyes onto his father's
face, and with a gasp of air he gave up his life.

"Nooooo dad don't go...please stay," he cried as he held his father's body
tightly to him, and Seth Jr. held him in his arms.

"Come on Jake...we need to find Caleb and Rhett," Seth Jr. said and Jacob
kissed his father once again before setting him down and getting up.

"I love you pa...take my love with you," he said as Seth Jr. helped him
from the rubble.

They took their time and walked towards Nob Hill, to see if Lone Wolf and
his family had survived the catastrophe. As they walked along, all they saw
on the faces of those that they encountered was despair, total despair. It
was near Nob Hill that Seth Jr. heard a baby crying, and he looked around
for where the crying was coming from. A large mansion had collapsed and was
on fire, and at what would have been the entrance laid the body of a nanny.
Seth ran over to see if he could assist her, but when he checked for a
pulse there was none. As he stood to leave, again he heard the baby's cry,
but it was coming from beneath the nanny.

"Jacob help me here," he called out and Jacob ran over to help his brother,
and together they rolled and removed the rubble from the nanny.

Once freed, they rolled her over and cradled in her arms was a baby
boy. "Oh Jacob look at the tyke, he can't be no more than two or three
months," Seth said as he picked up the baby.

"Well he won't see another day nor shall we if we don't get away from this
fire," Jacob warned.

Seth grabbed the baby and the three ran from the burning rubble, just as an
explosion tore through the place. Both men fell to the ground as the force
of the gas main's explosion rocked the immediate area. Seth sheltered the
baby with his body as ash and embers fell about them.

"Come on Seth, we really need to get out of here," Jacob said helping Seth
to his feet.

"Can we keep him Jacob, it's evident that his family didn't make it," Seth
asked.

"Seth, you know as well as I do that he's from a very prominent family,"
Jacob pointed out.

"Dressed like this, why he's dressed like a pauper Jacob," Seth pointed
out.

"Once the city returns to normalcy, if ever, we will have to determine if
he has family," Jacob said as they continued on to Lone Wolf's house.

*** On Nob Hill, the destruction was bad, but not nearly as bad as it was
downtown. Lone Wolf came too and he could feel a hand in his. His body was
pinned down by the rubble of the house and he felt the wrist of the hand in
his.

"Thank God you're alive Running Deer," he whispered.

"Lone Wolf...Peace...Lone Eagle, anyone," Lone Wolf heard and it was
Running Deer's voice.

"I'm here lover...can you move?" he asked.

"No, can you Lone Wolf," he asked back.

"No because something is holding me down," he told his lover.

"Dads...please answer me," it was the voice of Lone Eagle. "Peace and I are
ok but where are you two," he shouted.

"We are trapped under the rubble son...go get help," Running Deer shouted
as best he could.

"We are going to try and get you out dad, Peace and I," Lone Eagle said.

"No son, its way to dangerous, go and get help," Running Deer insisted.

He looked around and saw Jacob and Seth Jr. walking towards them carrying a
baby, and he limped over to meet them.

"It's my dads, they are trapped under the rubble Uncle Jacob," Lone Eagle
cried, as he fell into Jacob's arms.

"Calm down son, is your brother alright?" he asked.

"Yes but I think he's got a broken leg Uncle Jacob. Where is grandfather,
he is alright, isn't he,"

Lone Eagle asked and his answer was on Jacob's face.

"He didn't make it honey," Seth Jr. said, "but he said to tell you that he
loves you before he died." Lone Eagle fell to the ground in tears.

Jacob and Seth knelt beside the boy, comforting him the best that they
could as he cried.

"Come on sweetie, let's get your dads out of there before they join dad
also," Seth said, helping the boy to stand.

Peace was lying on the lawn away from the building, his right leg was badly
twisted and Jacob knew that it was broken. He looked around and saw the
body of Brian laying, protruding from the rubble, and it bothered
Jacob. Seth left the baby with Peace while he helped Jacob.

"Was he a friend of yours Lone Eagle?" he asked his nephew.

"He was our best friend Uncle Jacob," he confided.

"Caleb...Rhett can you hear me," Jacob yelled out.

"Jacob, we are pinned under the rubble," Running Deer shouted. "Just make
sure our sons are alright," he said, more concerned for their well being
than his.

"They are fine brother, now just hold tight while I get some more help to
get you out," he said and ran off to see who he could get.

Refugees, having been driven up the hill by the fires, were walking by and
Jacob solicited some men for their help. Several refused to stop, not
wishing to help the wealthy, until finally he was able to gather seven or
eight that were willing.

It took several hours of slowly and carefully removing layers of roofing
and walls, before Jacob was able to remove Lone Wolf and Running Deer from
the rubble. He made a promise to those that helped to monetarily
compensate them once normalcy returned to the city, but they refused and
walked off without giving him their names.

"Where is father Jacob," Lone Wolf asked as he lay on the lawn beside
Peace.

"He died Caleb... he fell to his death along with Daniel," he said fighting
back his tears. "He told me to tell you and Rhett that he loves you and
that he's proud of you all," but he let go of his emotions and Seth Jr. had
to continue.

"He was in love, very in love with Daniel and he never wanted to hurt
Jacob. He apologized for not telling him and begged Jake's forgiveness,"
Seth Jr. said.

"There was nothing to forgive Caleb...after all, he was our father," he
said and he and Lone Wolf hugged as they cried.

Almost immediately after the quake, re-planning and reconstruction plans
were hatched to quickly rebuild the city. One of the more famous and
ambitious plans, proposed before the fire, came from famed urban planner,
Daniel Burnham. His bold plan called for Haussmann style avenues,
boulevards, and arterial thoroughfares that radiated across the city, a
massive civic center complex with classical structures, what would have
been the largest urban park in the world, stretching from Twin Peaks to
Lake Merced with a large athenaeum at its peak, and various other
proposals. This plan was dismissed by critics as impractical and
unrealistic to municipal supply and demand. Property owners and the Real
Estate industry were against the idea as well due to the amounts of their
land the city would have to purchase to realize such proposals. While the
original street grid was restored, many of Burnham's proposals eventually
saw the light of day such as a neo-classical civic center complex, wider
streets, a preference of arterial thoroughfares, a subway under Market
Street, a more people friendly Fisherman's Wharf, and a monument to the
city on Telegraph Hill, Coit Tower.

*** So several months later, with the city already working feverishly to
rebuild and the injured healed and the dead buried, Jacob sat together with
his brothers.

"So where shall you go now brother," he asked Lone Wolf as they sat and
looked at the new Palace Hotel that was rising from the ashes on the site
of the old one.

"I'm going to go find Alex and his mate," Lone Wolf said. "Monroe and
Stephen are going with us. Now that John is dead, Monroe and Stephen have
this need for family and that means Alex, so we are leaving tomorrow. So
what did you find out about the baby, does he have family?"

"He was the son of the nanny, and she and her husband both died in the
quake. According to the Brown's, that is the people they worked for, there
was no family to care for the baby. So we are keeping him and his name is
going to be David Clark after mother's father," he said. "I might as well
tell you Caleb, Seth and I are partners and lovers."

"I had already figured that one out brother dear, and I wish you both the
best of luck together,"

he said as he hugged his brothers and kissed them on the cheek before
saying goodbye.

"Take good care of him Running Deer, and I shall miss you also," Jacob
said, but when Running Deer went to kiss Jacob's cheek, Jacob gave him a
lip lock, tongue and all.

"Damn...no wonder my brother never wanted to leave you," Jacob said
smiling. "You are one hell of a kisser Running Deer," he told the blushing
brave.

"My turn," Seth said and gave a hot and heated kiss to Lone Wolf.

"Now if the differences between the white man and the Indians could have
been settled with a kiss, you two would have definitely been diplomats."
Seth said fanning himself.

"Goodbye brother and I love you both very much," Lone Wolf said climbing up
into the carriage that would take them to the train station.

"So do I brother, so do I. Now remember, your inheritance that dad left you
is here in the bank."

"I won't forget brother, but just manage it for me until we get settled,"
Lone Wolf said and then he gave the driver orders to go.

*** Fort Hall Indian Reservation in Idaho where Alex and Brave Eagle live.

"There telegraph said that they were coming is all Brave Eagle." Alex said.

"But who is they my love?" he asked as two young teens entered their house.

"Who is coming father," one asked.

"Your uncles from San Francisco and my friends, Bear Hunter," Alex told his
son.

"Have we ever seen them father?"

"No Coyote you have not, but they are family none the less," he said to his
other son.

"I just wish I knew how many Swift Bear, for our house is small and what if
they are many?"

Brave Eagle said to Alex calling him by his Indian name.

"We shall make due my love," Alex said and then kissed his lover.

"Ewww dad, you gotta do that with us around?" the two boys asked in unison.

"Then if you hate our kissing you are not going to like what I am about to
do with your dad,"

Alex told them as he knelt before Brave Eagle, groping his crotch.

"We are so out of here dad," the boys said and quickly disappeared out the
door.
