When I woke up Ian was still lying next to me with his head cradled in his
folded arms. I glanced over at the digital clock on my nightstand and
groaned when I saw that is was only 1 am. I wasn't sleepy and my stomach
was grumbling, so I got out of bed and made my way downstairs. Once I had
reached the living room, I noticed that the TV was on and still stationed
on MTV where I had left it yesterday. This was weird. Mom and dad hate MTV,
and they never leave the TV on when they go to bed. I walked to the window
in the living room and pulled the curtains back slightly so that I could
have a look at our driveway.

"Where are they?" I asked myself as I looked at the driveway and saw that
neither of my parents cars were parked by Ian's or mine as they usually
are.

I have to admit, I was a little worried when I realized that my parents
weren't home. I don't get along with them, but they are still my parents
and I care about them.

I checked the messages on our phone, and my heart slowed down when I heard
my mother saying, "Your dad and I won't be home tonight. We're at the
Marriott. Room 314. You can reach us at... honey, what's this number?
... Just call the front desk and they'll connect you to our room. Don't
burn the house down you two. And try to get along!"

In a hotel? Jesus mom, why? Why would you do that? She has to know he's
cheating on her. Dad is so lame when it comes to hiding things from her or
anyone. Well, I guess they are trying to repair their fucked up
marriage. Good luck with that.

I went to the kitchen and made myself a turkey sandwich with lettuce and
tomato on white bread. As I was smearing on the Mayonnaise, Ian emerged
from behind me looking half a wake and disoriented.

"Hey," I smiled at him then turned back to my sandwich.

"Hey," he responded drowsily, walking over to me

"Hungry?"

"I woke up right after you closed the door and left. Isn't that weird?" he
said, ignoring my question, "It was like I could feel you leaving."

"You're so dramatic."

"And then I heard this voice say, 'Get up. Go downstairs. Brian is
downstairs making a sandwich.' And my body rose up and I lazily got out of
bed to go downstairs like the voice said."

I laughed and shook my head

"No I'm not hungry," Ian said, when he saw me grabbing two slices of bread
for him from the Wonder Bread bag.

"You sure?"

"How can you be hungry at 1 in the morning?"

"Are you kidding?" I replied biting into my sandwich

"Your stomach is asleep, you're not really hungry."

"My stomach is never asleep," I said, pushing the food in my mouth against
my cheek so that I could say the words efficiently.

"True."

I leaned back against the counter and looked at my brother as I ate my
food.

"Did you put onions on that?"

"Yes," I lied

"Well don't expect me to kiss you then," he whispered

"No need to whisper. Mom and dad aren't home."

"Where are they?"

"The Marriott?" I said, chomping on my food

"The Marhebeyahot?" he said, mocking me

I laughed at him and swallowed before I said, "The Marriott."

"Why are they at the Marriott?"

"To fuck in peace I guess."

Ian made a face

"To rekindle their burning love for one another," I said in a British
accent

"Fabulous," he said dryly

"My thoughts exactly," I replied, walking to the refrigerator to get a can
of sprite.

"Well at least they aren't here," Ian said and left the kitchen.

After I had chugged down my sprite, I joined my brother in the living room
and sat down beside him on the couch, purposely bumping his shoulder with
mine as I rested back against the cushions. We didn't talk for awhile as I
flipped through the channels. Infomercials, infomercials, infomercials.

"Ugh, 1 in the morning. You know, I have a shit load of homework and two
tests tomorrow," Ian said, "I don't even know what they are over."

"Don't worry about it. You always do fine."

"If I study I do, but I haven't even glanced over the material."

"Well," I said, looking over at him, "Don't go. Stay home and study."

"Will you stay home with me?" he asked, looking back at me

"I have football practice."

"Aw come on. You can miss one practice."

"No, coach is hounding the hell out of us. You know we have that game
against Brookeside this weekend."

Ian looked at me with pleading eyes.

"I can't."

"You can but you won't."

"What's today?" I asked. Ian doesn't understand my passion for football or
sports in general, so to avoid a fight I tried to change the subject.

"Thursday. Well, Friday now. Come on, we can have sex all day," he pressed
on

"No I mean what's today? October the what?"

"Uhh, 17th... 18th. The 18th, why?"

"Your Birthday is this Sunday," I informed him, but of course he already
knew that

"Ach," was his only response before turning his attention back to the TV

"Stop being so moody," I said, bumping him with my shoulders again

"Are we going to watch this Porcelain Doll thing?" he asked, gesturing to
the TV

"Why are you mad at me?" I asked, changing the channel

"I'm not mad at you."

"Ian..."

"I'm not mad," he said shrugging his shoulders

I looked back at the TV and continued to change the channels. Fine, he can
sulk all he wants to.

"I just don't understand you and football," Ian said finally after a long
while of pouting

"I know you don't, E, so lets drop it. We just feel differently about some
things."

"You're such a jock. That's part of your problem."

"Jesus! Why are you attacking me? What's happening here, Ian?"

"I am not attacking you!" he exclaimed, looking over at me, "I just wish
you'd realize that football is just a game. You act like it's your whole
life!"

"It's not my whole life, but I am passionate about it. It's like you and
your art. Why is this such a big deal? I enjoy playing football. I'm good
at it. Why are you so pissed about that?"

"Because it's just a game and you put it before everything and everyone."

I gave him a gimmie-a-break look

"You do, Brian! You're just like mom sometimes."

"Don't compare me to mom. I am nothing like mom. And don't say that
football is just a game. It more than a game to me. It's something I am
good at doing! I'll get a kick ass scholarship for playing football, so
it's not just a fucking game, Ian. I don't call your making art just a
petty hobby for Christ sakes!"

This silenced him.

"If you say that I am putting football before staying home with you today,
you would be right," I continued

Ian shook his head and looked away from me.

"But I'm not putting football before YOU. I'm simply choosing to go to
practice over staying home and fucking your brains out all day. We can do
that later."

I thought my saying this might make him laugh or at least smile, but he
didn't, so I added, "If you absolutely NEEDED me to stay home, I would
stay. I'd even miss the game against Brookeside this weekend if you needed
me."

Still no response. He was like a wall. Jesus, so much has changed between
Ian and I in such a short amount of time. If he had said, "Football is just
a game." to me a week ago, I would have simply said, "What the fuck do you
know?" and walked away.

"God, when did we become this mushy, bickering married couple?
Ian... Damnit, what's the matter with you? You're as sensitive as mom."

"Don't compare me to mom," he said, finally looking at me

"Well don't compare ME to mom," I shot back

He started to smile but before I could smile back and him and rejoice his
coming to terms with how childish he was being, he said, "You would not
miss the game on Saturday even if I was in the hospital clutching to life."

"YES I would dipshit. I wouldn't even consider playing!"

He studied my face to see if I was lying.

"I mean it. Ugh, you're so damn annoying," I laughed

He smiled

"And stubborn, damn."

"I'm sorry. I just know you put football before Megan and all your other
girlfriends..."

"True, but I wasn't infatuated with Megan or those other girls. Let alone
in love with them. AND youuu are not my girlfriend."

"Oh yeah, what am I?"

"My brother," I said, dodging the question.

Ian grinned

"I'm not putting anything before you."

"Good."

"This is flattering. You're so emotionally attached to me you were afraid a
sport might interfere with our relationship."

"Don't let it go to your head."

"Or maybe this whole argument was a desperate attempt on your part to get
me to stay home so that you could have my cock all day."

Ian laughed, "Whatever."

"You can have it now. You're getting me hard," I smiled

"I'm not in the mood."

"You sure? You don't want me to fuck you? You don't want my thick cock in
your asshole?" I whispered, placing my hand on his stomach and turning more
towards him

"Not right now..." Ian whispered back, looking away from me

"Mmm," I groaned and nuzzled my head in his neck

"...I'll fuck you though."

"Uhhh."

"You'll love it."

I pulled back from my brothers' neck and looked at him.

"It feels so good."

"Yeah... I've seen that," I grinned

"Do you want to feel it?"

I gave him a hesitant look.

"It feels so good, Bry. It's amazing," Ian said, turning so that he was
facing me

"No, I know it does. I just... eh, I dunno, E, I don't think I want to try
that just yet."

"So you're the fuckER and not the fuckEE huh?" Ian joked

"Riiiight," I nodded

"Pff, even if you'd possibly have the best orgasm you've ever had in your
entire life if you'd let me fuck you?"

I thought about this.

"What's the big deal?" he asked

"There is no big deal."

"So..." Ian grinned

"What do you want for your birthday?" I asked changing the subject

Ian moved closer to me and lightly pressed his lips to mine. He kissed me
delicately and sweetly, pecking at my lips as a little girl would when she
kissed her teddy bear good night. When he eventually pulled his lips from
mine, I slowly opened my eyes and gazed at my brother, feeling hypnotized
by him.

"I want... to make love to you... right now," he said gently, resting his
hand on my waist

"Right now?"

He nodded, studying my eyes and smiling just slightly.

"Ian, I-"

"Please, baby..."

Please baby, he said. Mmm. There was no way I could tear my eyes from his
gorgeous face and tell him no again. Not after he said that to me in that
tone, with that angelic look resting over his face.

"Alright... alright, E. If that's what you want," I said gently

He smiled, his eyes lighting up, then moved in to kiss me again. I closed
my eyes and cocked my head to the side, and my heart began to flutter as I
anxiously anticipated yet another passionate kiss with my brother.

To be continued...
