On the few occasion I have discussed masturbation with someone I know
face to face, they have all had very clear recolections of thier first
time.

I cannot remember mine so clearly.  I do remember finding, when in the
last year of junior school (10/11 y.o.), that clasping my cock in my

not sure whether it was sexual excitement, or just that I din't
actually realise what I was doing, but when on several occasion my

loop several times always with the same result.  Eventually I
dismissed it as a false alarm, and, contuing to masturbate was

wasn't very much so I didn't worry about it, assuming it to be urine.
Sometime later (not sure how much), after the quantity had increased,
I became concerned that it may be creating an obvious patch on the
bedclothes and after masturbating one night, rolled over and looked at
the bedclothes with a torch.  It was then that I realised what was
actually happenning!  I had been armed with the information all along,
but the book I had read it in said that sexual development started at
about 13/14 so I hadn't made the connection.  Seems obvious now.

A few months later, when I joined the secondary shcool (11/12 y.o) we
had a sex-education course.  I remember thinking:

    "Well this is a bit late isn't it?", and
    "I bet nobody here knows I can already do that", and
    "I wonder if anybody else can?", and
    "Why didn't they mention masturbation? -- it's such good fun!"
