Chapter 14

As Steve and I lye in bed, with Steve's head on my chest, we talked about
today's events, wondering how our lives would change having another boy
living with us.  As we talked I discovered that Steve and I both would love
to spend the rest of our lives helping kids.  I told Steve of my dream of
finding a bunch of land so I could build a place where I could take in kids
that needed help.  Steve said, "That would be great; to have a place where
we could help under privileged kids and maybe disabled kids.  Maybe someday

make this dream come true.

It was back to work for both Steve and I the next morning.  I stopped in to

that he could call his parents any time he wanted to, but not to let them

control before he said, "I would just like to say that Angela's mother and
I both support your decision judge, and we hope and pray that our daughter
will someday find the help she needs and that someday she can become the
mother that her two boys deserve.  Until that time, we support Steve whole
heartedly and hope that he will continue to allow us to be a part of Sean
and Connor's lives, and Steve, we want to reassure you that even if Angela
returns, you have my word as a man that we will support any decision you
make as to whether you want the boys to see Angela or not.  And Mike, I
just wanted to thank you for being there for Steve and our grand boys in
this troubled time and, even though I personally don't agree with your
relationship with Steve, I promise I will keep my personal opinions to
myself.  I am sure that with some time I will be able to understand and
accept it.  That is all I wanted to say.  Thank you, sir."  Jose sat down
next to his wife, who gave him a kiss on the cheek.

The judge said, "Sir, I thank you for your comments and Mr. Crispin, you
have two grandparents that I believe will be good and positive examples for
your young sons, and I hope that you will allow them to be a part of your
boy's lives."

Steve was shaking Jose's hand as the judge spoke and when he turned around
he said, "I know that sir and I intend to make them both a big part of our
lives."

The judge smiled as he said, "If there are no more comments then I will
declare these proceedings closed.  Congratulations Mr. Crispin and take
care of those boys."  And with that I stood from where I was sitting behind
Steve and gave him a hug and then turned to Jose and shook his hand.  We
had to wait for a few minutes for the clerk to bring out all the signed
copies of all the paperwork before we could leave.  As we reached our cars
Jose said to Steve and me, "If it would be all right, I would like to take
you two and the boys out for lunch."

Steve said, "That would be nice, let's go pick up the boys and then we can
figure out where we would like to go."

Since the boys knew about the court date, they were already showered and
dressed nicely.  I guess they figured that we would go out to eat when we
finished.  Jose and Maria both came in and gave hugs to Sean and Connor and
Jose shook Colby's hand.  Jose asked the boys where they would like to go

then asked Jose and Maria if he could speak with them for a moment.

After the boys went running out the front door calling for seats, Steve

joined us for lunch.  Maria said, "We certainly understand and we would
love to have him join us and I think it is wonderful that you two opened
