Maria told Steve she made a complete Thanksgiving meal for all the ranch

more was no big deal.  Steve said he would call Maria back the following
day and take her up on the offer and make sure it was fine to bring my kids
along as well.

Before we knew it Thanksgiving was upon us.  Steve and I had talked about
what we were going to tell my kids about our relationship.  They knew that
he and the boys were living with me but they did not know that Steve and I
were living as a couple.  Since we really didn't have room in the house for
them I got them both a hotel room near the house.  Steve and I decided we
would take everyone out for dinner Wednesday evening after they got settled
in their hotel room.  I made arrangements to meet with them alone before we
left for dinner.  I wanted to tell them about Steve and I before we met up
for dinner.

I met them at the hotel bar.  I asked Kelly and Kate to meet me in the bar

were in the same unit together.  Not sure if you remember or not but he
came to the house a couple of times when you two were younger.  Anyway I
hope that you two know that I love you and would never intentionally hurt
you."

I was having a hard time coming up with the words.  I had practiced this
speech over and over again but I was at a loss for words.  I knew that I
was just going to have to say it all at once and get it over with.  "I
realized something about myself when I first met Steve several years ago.
I realized that I have always been attracted to guys.  Even during the time
I was married to your mother.  I never acted on these feelings while your
mom and I were together.  After your mom passed away I was very lonely and

Both Kelly and Kate sat there for a moment and then looked at each other.
Kelly spoke first saying, "Dad, I'm not sure about mom or Kate but I have

you look at some of my friends.  I'm not sure I understand it all but if
you are happy and being with Steve makes you happy then I can deal with
it."

Kate said pretty much the same thing.  I was so relieved that they both
were ok with mine and Steve's relationship.  After our talk we went back to
Kelly' room to get Lori and then we left to meet with Steve and the boys at
the restaurant.  Steve and the boys were already there when we got there
and were waiting for us just inside.  I introduced Steve and the boys to
Kelly, Lori, and Kate in the lobby before we were seated at our table.  At
first the conversation seamed to be a little to polite but as our dinner
went on Kelly and Kate seamed to open up and before long we were all

have kept to themselves but the boys seamed to like them.

Towards the end of our dinner I told them both about our Thanksgiving plans
to go to the ranch instead having it at my place.  They all thought that it

rest of the weekend and that they would need to bring all their stuff with
them.  We arranged for them to meet us at our house the next morning.

Everyone came back to the house after we finished dinner so we could spend
more time together.  Of course the boys ended up in Sean and Colby's room

The next morning Kelly, Lori and Kate arrived at our house right on time.

finished up in the kitchen.

We got the truck and car loaded up and took off for San Antonio and about
ninety minutes later we were pulling up in front of Jose and Maria's place.
Maria and Jose came out of the mess hall building to greet us.  I
introduced Kyle, Kate and Lori.  Maria told Jose to help up get our things
into the bunk house because Thanksgiving dinner was about ready.

We all grabbed our bags and walked with Jose to the same bunk house we used
the last time we were at the Ranch.  Jose took Kyle, Lori and Kate to the

Kelly's wife Lori.  Please make sure you introduce yourself to them
sometime to day and make them feel welcome here at our ranch.  Now lets all

Steve and I helped Kelly, Kate and Lori get there plates.  Maria had out
done herself and had an amazing Thanksgiving spread with all the fixings.

Everyone got there fill of a great Thanksgiving dinner and several of the

started at the local community college.  Mr. Smith said his parents kicked
