The next morning when Connor woke up Aaron's mornings wood was wedged

Once the boys finished in the bathroom the came running out of the cabin
with just enough time to make it to breakfast.  Steve and I had already
walked over to the dinning hall chatting with Jose and Maria when the boys

the prayer we all enjoyed another amazing breakfast made by Maria.

After breakfast was over the boys went off to help with the morning chores.
Again TJ didn't leave Aarons side.  As the boys were helping with the
chores Steve and I cleaned up our ranch cabin since we would be heading
home before lunch and then went over to chat with Jose and Maria who were
sitting on the dinning hall porch waiting for all the ranch hands to finish
the morning chores and get cleaned up for church.

While we waited with them Jose asked, "Have you two given anymore thought
into opening some kind of youth ranch up there in Killeen?  I remember the
last time you all were down here Mike mentioned he would like to have a
place similar to this for kids up there."

Steve and I looked at each other and smiled.  I was a little weird that we
had just been talking about this last night and now Jose was mentioning the
exact same thing.  I looked over at Jose and said, "Yeah, in fact we talked
a bit more about it last night and agreed that we want to start looking
into what all it would take to open some kind ranch to give kids that need
a second chance some place that they can go and get that second chance.
I'm not sure what it will all take but I figured we would have a talk with
my lawyer as soon as I can get an appointment with him.  Why do you ask?"

Jose looked over at Maria with just a little smile on his face and then
looked back out towards the barn and said, "No particular reason.  Just
remembered you mentioning it the last time you were here."  Jose looked
down at his watch as he continued, "Those boy's better hurry with those
chores or we are going to be late for church."  With that he got up and
walked off towards the barn.

I looked back at Steve with a questioning look on my face when he walked
away.  We both looked back at Maria who was getting up and heading back
into the dinning hall and both noticed a funny little smile on her face
also.

I looked back and Steve, "What was that all about?"

Steve just said, "I have no idea, no idea at all."

Just about that time we saw the all the boys walking from the horse barn
walking back towards the cabins.  Everyone was walking a little faster than
normal.  I guess that Jose had told them to get a move on so they wouldn't
be late for work.

After the boys had showered and changed clothes so the didn't smell up the
truck on our drive back home they walked towards the dinning hall stopping
at the truck to throw their bags in the back.  Once they were all at the
dinning hall we all said our goodbyes to Joe and Maria.  Maria had tears
running down her face as she gave each boy a smothering hug.  Colby and
Aaron included.  I was a little surprised when Jose gave each one a big hug
as well before giving Steve and I a firm hand shake and a pat on the back.
Jose said, "We will see all of you back here for Christmas right?"

Steve smiled and said, "We couldn't think of a better place to spend
Christmas than here with our family and friends."

Just as we were about to head out to our trucks, Eric, David and TJ came
running up all cleaned up and dressed in there best tight jeans and nice
shirts ready for church.  Eric and David grabbed each of our boy's one by
one shaking their hands and then pulling them into a hug.  I noticed when
TJ got to Aaron that they went straight for the hug skipping the hand
shake.  The boys all chatted back and forth as they all walked with us to
our trucks.  There were some last minute slaps on the back and hugs as we
got into our trucks for the drive back to Killeen.  Sean and Colby jumped
in the front seat of Aaron's truck while Connor got in the back of my
truck.  We told the boys they could ride with Aaron as long as they stayed
behind us on the drive back.  It wasn't that we didn't trust Aaron's
driving, I just figured we would all stop for a nice lunch someplace on the
way back.

After a stop for lunch and the holiday traffic we finally made it home just
after dark.  After the long weekend everyone was pretty tired after the
drive and getting all our stuff put away.  The boys just laid around the
house the rest of the evening watching movies or playing video games.  It
was a fend for yourself night for dinner as we all were in the living room
watching a movie.

home.

The weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas always seem to fly by.  Before

Also that week we got word that Colby's dad's trial would take place late

"I'm sure it will be ok with them.  Go ahead and ask your mom to join us if
you would like and then we will call Jose when we get home to let them

I could see on his face how much this meant to him.

That evening Steve and I were talking and I mentioned how Colby had
referred to Dennis as his mother's husband rather than his father when he
asked about inviting here to the ranch.  Steve said, "I guess it just shows
how much he wants to distant himself from Dennis after what finding out his
involvement in Sean's attach."

Colby came out of his room and asked if he could call Jose and ask about
his mom.  Steve found the number in his phone and handed it to Colby.
Colby walked into the kitchen so he could talk and came back with the big
smile on his face.  Colby handed the phone back to Steve and ran off back
to his room to tell Sean the good news I'm sure.  Steve talked with Jose
for a few minutes to confirm our plans.  We have planed to leave here on
the evening of the 23rd and stop in Austin to pick up my kids at the
airport and then drive on down and spend the entire weekend down there. Of
course Aaron would drive down on his own after spending part of the holiday
with his family.

Before we knew it Christmas was here.  Colby's mother was driving her car
down since she was coming back a few days early so Sean and Colby rode with

Kelly and Kate alone with Linda took another one.  Once everyone was
settled we all made our way back to the mess hall to relax in front of the

heading back to the mess hall for lunch.

After lunch Jose gave some instructions to Eric, David, and TJ.  Eric

pastures.  All the adults were sitting on the mess hall porch chatting as

after later that afternoon.  In fact since you guys will be driving back
the same day if you guys would like to join us I might need your help
finding the place.  It's just south of Killeen but I'm not too familiar
with that area."

several horses out in front of them.  They pushed them into the coral on

Before long it started getting dark and it was time for dinner.  It was a

preparing everything for Christmas dinner.  After saying grace Jose made
sure to announce that everyone that was going to church needed to be ready
by nine so they could make it into town early enough to get good seats."

After dinner everyone went to their cabins and started getting ready for
church, changing into their church jeans, dress shirts and polished cowboy
boots.  We all met up at nine and loaded up into a few trucks and then
headed into town.  It was a very nice service and Jose and Marie made sure
to show off there grandson's making sure to include Colby.  I think the
boys were hating it but Steve and I were enjoying watching them, smiling
and laughing.  It was late when we got back and everyone went off to bed as
soon as we got back to the ranch.
