as I work on the future chapters. This chapter is going to be from Chris's

how it goes over I will do this again as the story develops, but if it
flops I will just be writing from Brian's point of view. Please tell me
what you think after reading it, I really want to hear from everyone on
this chapter so I can start shaping up the rest of the story.

A True Love Chapter 4

Chris's Point of View

"You got up early this morning." I said, when Brian returned from running.

"I couldn't sleep; I was just lying in bed thinking about my decision to
try for a comeback. So, I decided to go for an early run to clear my
head. How did you sleep?" Brian asked.

I could tell from looking at him and the fact that he'd gone for a longer
run than usual that he had a lot on his mind.

"I slept ok, I woke up right after you got out of bed. Do you want anything
for breakfast?"

"I had some yogurt and a banana before I left." Brian said. He sat at the
table and read the sports section while I fixed something for myself.

We spent the rest of the morning cleaning the house from the night before,
and did some things around the house that was needed before his parents
arrived later in the week. I noticed that Brian was quiet most of the
morning and not his usual talkative self. But I didn't think much about it,
after all, he'd made a decision the night before that would have a big
affect on his life... and mine.

We worked outside until around lunch time and then I went in and fixed each
of us a salad for lunch, then went back outside onto the patio. Brain was
putting the lawn mower back in the storage shed when I yelled at him that
lunch was ready. He was quiet while we were eating, and at that point I
had to see what was going on.

"Want to talk about it?" I asked, while he poured himself more tea.

"I was just about to ask you the same question; you've been quiet all
morning. You are ok with everything still, aren't you?"

"Yes, I'm still ok with everything, I was quiet because you seemed like you
had a lot on your mind and I wanted to give you time to yourself."

"I've just been thinking about a lot of things today, trying to make a
mental `to do' list of things that need to be done before I start training
again."

"What all do you have to do before you start training again, aren't you
training when you're running and going to the gym?" I asked, trying to get
a better understanding of what his going back into training entailed.

"That is just a small part of it, I still have to get a trainer, find a
coach, and the most important part - I have to make a trip back to Texas
and get my doctor to release me, which is the one thing that is going to
decide if this comeback happens or not." Brain said, getting up to walk
inside. I followed him, taking the remaining dishes with me.

"When are you planning on going to Texas?" I asked, as I was putting the
dishes in the dishwasher.

"I was thinking about flying back with my parents on Monday and going to
the doctor on Tuesday, then flying home Tuesday night. I am just worried
that he is not going to clear me, and that I am getting my hopes up for
nothing." "If he doesn't clear you, you can always get a second opinion
from another doctor. You've said yourself that you are feeling better than
you ever have, and that your knee and ankle are doing great."

I spent the rest of the afternoon working on some marketing things that I
needed ready for a meeting the next morning, and looking at what my week
entailed work wise. I loved my new job with the marketing company, and my
bosses were very pleased at some of the advertising campaigns that I had
brought to the table. After I finished up work stuff, I realized that it
was going to be mine and Brian's anniversary in a few weeks, and I wanted
to plan something nice for us since I knew it was going to be hard for us
to do anything once he started training again. Since we hadn't lived in the
area very long, I decided to go next door and check to see if Lisa was
home, and see if she had any ideas for something we could do.

"Hey, Chris, how's it going?" Brice asked, when he answered the door.

"Hey, Brice, everything's great...is Lisa busy?"

"Nada, she's in the bedroom playing a game on her computer, go on back."

As I was walking back toward the bedroom I noticed that their house was set
up almost identical to ours. I glanced at some of the pictures on the wall
as I walked down the hall.

"Hey, Chris, what do I owe you for this surprise visit?" Lisa asked,
getting up and giving me a hug when she saw me at the door.

"Oh, nothing, I just needed a brain to pick concerning something I'm
planning."

"Ahhh, secretly planning something... do tell." Lisa was sitting cross
legged at the head of the bed facing me.

"Mine and Brian's anniversary is coming up and I want to plan something,
but I really don't know the area well enough to know what all there is to
do around here, yet."

"This is your first anniversary?" I could see that Lisa's mind was already
working.

"Yeah, I was thinking about taking Friday off work and going somewhere."

"Do y'all like Broadway shows?" Lisa asked. Brice walked up to the door
about that time to see if we wanted something to drink. He left and brought
back a bottle of water for each of us, then went back into the living room
to watch TV.

"Yeah, we do, we've wanted to go to New York and see Rent, but with the
move and everything we haven't had time."

"Hmmm, let me check something on the computer really quick and see... I
believe that I've heard that Rent was going to be in Charlotte on tour
soon, but I can't remember when." Lisa was busily checking things on the
computer. She looked up and smiled after a few minutes.

"Did you find something?"

"Rent is going to be in Charlotte and is actually opening two weeks from
Saturday, and there are tickets still available."

"Cool, a weekend in Charlotte would be fun." I said, thinking that it could
actually be a lot of fun exploring the city, especially since I had a few
clients that had home offices there.

"I think y'all should leave on Friday, go explore the city and then
Saturday night have a nice dinner, go see the show and then do whatever
y'all like to do afterwards." Lisa was smiling. "If you really want to go
all out, you could book a nice room at the Westin and everything would be
within walking distance for the most part."

"That sounds like a great idea. I think Brian would like that, actually I
think he would love it." We spent the next few minutes talking and seeing
what we each had going on for the week, and we decided to meet for lunch on
Thursday. After talking to Lisa and saying good bye to her and Brice, I
headed home. When I walked back into the house, Brian was on the phone
talking to someone. I sat on the couch next to him and tried to find
something on TV worth watching.

"Where did you disappear to?" Brian asked, when he hung up the phone.

"Went over to talk to Lisa about something and get her opinion on an idea
for a campaign that I have for a new restaurant that is opening." I knew
that I had to keep Brian's suspicions down, or he would figure out that I
was planning something, and start pestering me about it until I finally
gave up and told him.

"What type of restaurant is it?" Brian asked.

"A new Greek place that is opening in about a month downtown. Who was on
the phone?" I asked, trying to change the subject.

"Clay, he just wanted to call and catch up, and see how everything was
going. He said to tell you `hi' and that he wishes he could make the trip
out with mom and dad, but he's being left in charge of things at the
office."

After talking about a few more random things, we both realized that we
hadn't eaten anything since lunch and decided to order a pizza. While we
were waiting on the pizza to be delivered, Brian was on his computer
looking for a personal trainer and e-mailing his old coach. So while he
was working on that, I went into the spare bedroom where I had been working
on a project.

One of the things that I wanted to do for Brian since he told me
everything, was to give him a place in the house where he could have all
his stuff and be able to go and think; a trophy room/office like space.
When we moved in, I realized that I could do what I wanted with one of the
bedrooms that we had no plans for, so I had been spending time working on
it and was almost finished with it. I just needed to be able to find a way
to move his computer and a few things in without him knowing about it. I
went into the room, looked around, and saw all the photos and medals that
he had collected over the years. I was looking at the way I had the medals
hanging, and something made me move them around so that there was a space
in the middle of all of them for some more. After rearranging the medals
and a few other things, I finally decided on a way to get Brian out of the
house for a little while so I could finish the room and then show it to
him. I spent a few more minutes in the room, moving a few things around
and making sure that it was just how I wanted it. As I was finishing the
move of the desk, Brian yelled that the pizza was here.

"So, are you ever going to tell me what you're doing in the spare room?"
Brian asked, while he was grabbing a slice of pizza from the box.

"Maybe if you're good, one day I will think about it. I'm surprised that
you haven't already snooped to see what I'm doing in there." After a bit, I
stood and was taking my plate to the sink and washing my hands... since
he'd grabbed the last piece of pizza. One of the things that drove me
crazy about him was the fact that he could eat whatever he wanted and not
gain a pound.

"I figured that you wanted a home office, so I was just staying away. We've
both said that we needed our own space in the house." He threw the pizza
box away and was putting his plate in the dishwasher.

"That is true, we did say that. Do we have any ice cream left?" I knew we
didn't, I just needed to get him out of the house.

"No, I finished it all the other night. Do you want me to go get some?"

"Please, I have been craving it all day. Just whatever you want... as long
as it has chocolate in it."

"Yes, dear" He said, rolling his eyes and going to get his wallet. "Do you
need gas in your car since I'm going?"

"I have about a quarter of a tank, but since you are going out anyway?" I
handed him the gas card out of my wallet.

When he left, I knew I only had about thirty minutes to do what I needed to
do. So as soon as he turned onto the street, I started moving his computer
and hooking it up, I also moved a couple of pictures that he had sitting
around that I wanted to put in the room for him, also. Just as I finished
and was walking out of the room, he walked in the back door... talk about
cutting it close.

After he got back, we lounged on the couch, watched TV and talked about a
few things that we still needed to do before his parents came on
Thursday. After about an hour, he had to go to the bathroom – as he was
walking back toward our room, he paused for a second and then kept walking.

"Did you move my computer out of the dining room?" He asked, when he came
back in.

"Yeah, the table is being delivered Tuesday so I wanted to make sure the
room was cleared out." I was trying not to laugh with the look he was
giving me.

"Ok, so where is my computer, dear?" He had leaned over me on the couch and
was looking at me upside down.

"What do I get if I tell you?" I smiled at him, trying to be cute, I was
ready to show him the room, but I wanted to have a little fun first.

"How about if you don't tell me... I start tickling you" He said, leaning
over and giving me a kiss.

"Unlike you, I am not ticklish" As soon as I said it, I regretted it. He
reached over and started tickling my sides and I couldn't help but laugh.

"Where is my computer, twink?" He kept tickling my sides.

"Ok, ok, I give" I yelled, I hated being tickled and Brian knew that it was
the easiest way to get whatever he wanted out of me.

"Good, now where is it?"

"It's a surprise, so close your eyes and follow me." I got up, reached
around him, put my hands over his eyes, and guided him down the hallway to
the room that I had been working on since we moved in.

"You know this is kind of hot, not being able to see and having you leading
me to an unknown place in the house."

"Is sex all you think about anymore?" I said, as I opened the door and
guided him into the room.

"Well, when you are at home alone all day, your mind does tend to wander."

"Ok, we're here... just remember that I love you." I said, as I took my
hands from his eyes. The look on his face was priceless when he saw the
room. He walked around and looked at all the pictures and medals that he
had collected. After a few minutes, he came back to where I was standing
and gave me a passionate kiss.

"You really are ok with everything, aren't you?"

"Yep, I hope you like what I did" I said, leaning against him.

"You have no idea how much this means to me, I only have one question."
Brian said, looking at the spot on the wall where I'd left a space for some
additional medals.

"If you're going to ask about that space... I figure that you are going to
make a comeback, and I might as well make the space for at least a couple
more now, so I don't have to rearrange everything later." I leaned back
against the wall and watched Brian look around the room. He was like a
little kid that had just been given a room full of all the toys that he
ever wanted. After a little while of looking over everything and touching
all the medals, he walked over to me and gave me a kiss with a lustful look
in his eyes.

"I love you." Brian said as kissed me again and pushed me up against the
wall.

"I love you, too."

After that, not much was said for the next couple hours. Brain was almost
animalistic in his assault on my body. I was taken aback by the way he was
taking control of everything, he was normally a very slow and sensual
lover, but right then he was like an animal possessed.

The next morning when I awoke, I leaned on my elbow and looked at Brian. I
didn't know what the future had in store for us, except I knew that his
making a comeback was going to be a trying time for both of us. And I did
know that I was more in love with him now than when we were in college. I
could have lain there and watched him sleep all day, but when I looked at
the clock I realized that I had actually over slept a little, and needed to
get up and get ready for work or I would be late. After I finished getting
ready, I came out of the bathroom and saw that Brian was awake, I leaned
down and kissed him good bye and told him that I would see him after work.

The next few days were spent getting ready for Brian's parents' visit. On
Wednesday I had to make a trip to Charlotte to meet with a client, and I
took the opportunity to take care of getting a hotel and finding a
restaurant for our anniversary. I also stopped by the box office at the
theater where Rent was going to play and bought tickets for opening night.

Brian had spent the week talking to his old coach and trying to find a
personal trainer to help him get back in shape. He ended up hiring a
trainer that Brice had recommended, and he started meeting with the trainer
in the mornings. Wednesday night his mom called to let us know what time
they would be flying in, and that they would be flying in privately since
they were going to be flying in from a meeting in Chicago. Brian was
nervous all week as he had not told his family about his final decision and
was going to tell his parents on Friday at lunch. He knew that they would
support him, he was just nervous and counted on their opinion and input.

The next day we went to the airport early and parked by the general
aviation area of the airport. We watched the plane come in and land, and we
were able to go out and meet them as soon as they opened the door. We
greeted his parents with a hug and put their luggage in the car and headed
back to the house.

Well, here is chapter four, as promised I did write it from Chris's point
of view and tried to develop him a little more. It is a shorter chapter
then what I have normally been writing as it is a test chapter to see what
the response is, so please send me comments and suggestions about this
chapter. I do want to apologize for the delay in this chapter also as I
have had several things going on that have pushed the story to the back
burner recently. I have started working on chapter five already and it
will be back to Brian's point of view.
