This isn't the story for you.
Hope everyone is enjoying. Here is part 6 entitled
"Thanksgiving"
"Thanksgiving"
Randal was over at Marcus's house, the two were
talking about everything that has happened.
"So you sure you're okay?" Randal asked concerned
"Yea, I'm fine. It's just weird, you think you know
someone, then they turn out to be someone you don't
even know anymore." Marcus replied
"Well, Thomas had problems, you heard what the police
told you. He's had a history of strange behavior. He
just got obsessed with you." Randal said
"I know, but why me? What was it that made him want
me so much?" Marcus asked
"You're kidding right?" Randal asked, "Look at you,
you're successful, good looking, nice. I don't find
it suprising that someone got obsessed with you."
Marcus smiled, thankful for having such a great friend
in Randal.
"Thanks." Marcus said
"It's true, don't worry, a great guy will come along
for you. Just try and erase last week from your
mind." Randal said encouragingly
"I've had enough of guys for a little while." Marcus
said, "I'm going to take a break from them."
"You, Kyle and me should start a club, the Three
Bachelors." Randal quiped
"I don't know, sounds like Kyle and David were almost
headed somewhere before Thomas attacked me." Marcus
said
"Really?" Randal asked curious.
"Yea, David was telling me that him and Kyle had their
first kiss." Marcus replied
"You're kidding, really?" Randal asked very interested
now.
"Yup, but I then Kyle just freaked out after my attack
and told David he doesn't want a relationship and he
just left." Marcus replied
"Have you talked to him since?" Randal asked
"I saw him the next day at the police station when he
was giving a statement to the cops, but he was just
asking me how I was, when I tried asking him about him
and David he quickly changed the subject back to me."
Marcus answered
"Well, maybe I'll go over and see him today." Randal
said
"I think he's really upset over everything, he just
flipped out on Thomas. I've never seen him like that
before." Marcus said
"I'm suprised he got so out of control. He's ussually
the most sensible one, it seems like he'd try to calm
down Thomas instead of kicking his ass." Randal said
"That's why I thought it was so weird too." Marcus
replied, "It wasn't like him at all."
"Well one of his best friends was in danger, so I
guess his normal judgement went out the window when he
saw you were in danger." Randal suggested
"You know, if you're going to see him I'll go with
you." Marcus said
"Want to go now?" Randal asked
"Yea, let's go." Marcus replied as the two headed out
the door.
As they drove in the car they started discussing what
they should do for Thanksgiving.
"I almost forgot that Thanksgiving was this week."
Marcus said, "Things got so out of hand lately."
"That's why I think it would be best if all of us
spent it together." Randal suggested, "It'll be good
for us."
"You're right." Marcus agreed, "We'll have it at my
place."
"Sounds like a plan." Randal answered as they drove.
Over at David's apartment, David was still trying to
make sense of what happened at Marcus's place. He's
glad and grateful Marcus is okay, but is confused as
to what happened between him and Kyle. He thought him
and Kyle were finally getting somewhere, but the all
of the sudden it was gone. He tried calling Kyle, but
Kyle wouldn't take his calls and when he tried to go
see him Kyle wouldn't answer the door. As David was
thinking of all of this Tyler and Jake came over.
"Hey guys." David said as they came in.
"How you doing?" Jake asked
"I'm all right." David replied
"Are you really?" Tyler asked, "I mean you almost got
Kyle and then it just got taken away from you."
"I just don't know what's going on with him." David
said, "I really need to talk to him, but he won't let
me. He's been avoiding me ever since that night."
"Keep trying." Jake said, "He'll let you in sooner or
later, you're his best friend."
"If you guys only saw what happened." David said,
"Kyle was just full of anger and he just lost it."
"Why is that?" Jake asked
"Yea, it doesn't seem like him at all." Tyler added
"I think it has to do with his old boyfriend." David
replied
"His old boyfriend?" Jake asked
"I never knew he had a boyfriend before." Tyler said
"Yea, and it didn't end well." David said, "It's why
he won't go into relationships."
"What happened?" Tyler asked
"It's pretty personal, I don't feel right talking
about it." David replied
"We understand." Jake said
"You guys don't have to worry about me, it's Marcus we
should be worrying about." David said
"Marcus is suprisingly fine." Tyler said
"Which makes me wonder if he's trying to supress his
feelings." David said, "I mean he almost got killed."
"But you know Marcus, he's always more concerned with
his friends than himself." Jake said
"Well, I feel bad. I've been more worried about
myself and Kyle than with Marcus. I should go see
him." David said picking up the phone and calling
Marcus's cell.
"Hello?" Marcus asked answering the phone
"Hey Marcus." David said
"Hi David. How are you?" Marcus asked
"I was going to ask you the same thing." David
replied, "Are you busy now?"
"Randal and I are actually on our way to go see Kyle."
Marcus said
"You are?" David asked
"Yea, we're about ten minutes away from his place."
Marcus said
"Wait until I get there. I want to go with you guys."
David replied
"All right." Marcus said
"Okay, bye." David said hanging up.
"What's going on?" Tyler asked
"They're going to go see Kyle." David said heading for
the door, "I'm got to hurry and get there so I can go
with them."
"Good luck." Jake said
"Thanks, can you guys lock up for me?" David asked
"Sure." Tyler replied as David left
David drove over to Kyle's and saw Marcus and Randal
waiting for him in the parking lot.
"Thanks for waiting guys." David said
"No problem." Randal said as they headed up to Kyle's
apartment. They knocked on the door.
"Who is it?" Kyle asked
"It's us." Marcus said
Kyle opened the door expecting to only see Marcus and
Randal, but was suprised to see David.
"David." Kyle said shocked, "I didn't know you were
coming."
"Kyle, I need to talk to you." David said coming in.
"David, now is not a good time." Kyle replied
"Lately there's never been a good time for me to talk
to you, but I need to." David said
"What is it?" Kyle asked feeling over whelmed
"We'll be right back guys." David said as him and Kyle
went into Kyle's bedroom.
"Kyle, I know what happened last week shook you up."
David said closing the door to Kyle's room.
"David I don't want to talk about it." Kyle replied
"You saw your old boyfriend in Thomas didn't you?"
David asked, "And that scarred you because you saw
that it can happen to you again."
"David-" Kyle began, but David cut him off.
"Just let me finish." David said, "Kyle, you're afraid
that what happened to you last time will happen to you
again. But this is me, I'm not going to do that to
you. All I want is just to make you happy."
"I'm sorry David." Kyle said, "I just can't."
"You felt something when we kissed. I know you did.
Are you willing to give up on that feeling?" David
asked
"If it will keep me from getting hurt than yes." Kyle
replied
"But you're hurting yourself by giving up." David said
"I can handle hurting myself, I can't handle someone
hurting me." Kyle said
"I would never hurt you." David said
"Like I said to you last week you can't make a promise
like that." Kyle said
"And like I said last week, I can." David replied
"David you deserve to be with someone who isn't afraid
to let you love him. Someone who can be as loving to
you as you are to him. I'm not that person." Kyle
said
David stood there, for the first time really accepting
the fact that he'll never get Kyle. He then headed
for the door and quietly left. Kyle watched David go,
part of him wanted to make it work out with him, but
the other part knew that he was too damaged for it.
He hated himself for what he's doing to David, but
honestly feels he's doing what's best for David.
Marcus and Randal walked into Kyle's room.
"You all right?" Randal asked
"No." Kyle answered quietly
David went to his car and drove to a gay bar. When he
went in he sat at the bar and got a drink. As he sat
there a guy sat next to him and started talking.
"You upset?" the guy said
"Am I that transparent?" David asked
"Maybe I can help you." the guy replied
"How so?" David asked
"Want to go to the back room?" he asked
David looked at him, the guy was 6'2, blonde, blue
eyes, good body.
"Sure." David said as they got up and headed to the
back.
When they got to the back David immediately started
kissing the guy. Their hands went all over each
other, David took off the guy's shirt and started
kissing his chest. In return the guy ran his hands
all over David, unbottoning David's shirt and taking
it off of him. Through all of this, the only thing
David wanted was to get Kyle out of his mind.
Later that day Randal went to go see Tyler and
Jake. When he got to their apartment Jake was at
class, but Tyler was there doing some paper work for
the resteraunt.
"With all that's been going on with Marcus, Kyle and
David I didn't get a chance to ask you how the date
went." Randal said
"It started out a little weird." Tyler said
"What do you mean?" Randal asked
"Well, I mean we're such good friends that actually
going on a date was a little different." Tyler replied
"But sleeping with him felt fine?" Randal asked
sarcastically
"Shut up." Tyler said laughing, "No, it was just that
when he were having sex that's all it was, sex. But
actually going on a date meant that it could lead
somewhere."
"That's understandable." Randal replied, "So it was a
bad date?"
"Does a bad date end with two people having sex?"
Tyler asked
"Really?" Randal asked, "You guys had sex?"
"Yea, well the date started out weird, but it at least
it ended well." Tyler replied
"Does that mean you guys are going out again?" Randal
asked
"Maybe." Tyler replied
"Have you guys told the others yet?" Randal asked
"No." Tyler replied, "If this all ends up being just a
fling between us, then I don't want to make a big deal
out of it."
"I see." Randal said understandingly
"Anyway, I have to get to the resteraunt." Tyler said
putting his paper work in a folder.
"All right. Well, stop by the club tonight if you get
a chance." Randal said
"I will, thanks." Tyler replied
"Oh, before I forget, Thanksgiving is this week, we're
going to have it at Marcus's house. Sound good?"
Randal asked
"Yea, sure. What should I bring?" Tyler asked
"Marcus is doing the Turkey, I'm doing the potatoes,
want to bring yams?" Randal asked
"I have no idea how to make yams, but I'll probably be
able to get the chef at the resteraunt to do them for
me." Tyler replied
"All right cool." Randal said
Randal and Tyler headed out.
Kyle went to work and was shelving toys when Marcus
came in to talk.
"Hey." Marcus said walking up to Kyle.
"Hi." Kyle replied, "Sorry about David and me earlier,
things got out of hand."
"It's fine." Marcus said, "I just came here to see how
you were doing."
"Marcus, you're such a great guy." Kyle said, "You
almost got killed last weekend and it's me your
worried about?"
Marcus smiled.
"I'm sorry I haven't been by to see you this week."
Kyle continued, "It's just been weird lately. But I
feel really bad."
"No, it's fine. I'm okay, really." Marcus said, "I'm
moving past Thomas."
"Glad to hear it." Kyle replied, "You'll find
someone."
"Well, I'm going to take a little break from guys for
now." Marcus said
"Welcome to the club." Kyle said smiling
"Actually, I was thinking that you were getting ready
to journey into the couples' life with David." Marcus
said
"Things wouldn't work out between me and him." Kyle
replied
"Why?" Marcus asked, "You love him, he loves you."
"It's complicated." Kyle replied
"All right." Marcus said sighing
"So, is that why you came here?" Kyle asked
"No, actually I came to tell you that we are having
Thanksgiving at my place." Marcus replied
"Thanksgiving is this week?" Kyle asked
"Yea." Marcus answered
"Wow, I completely forgot." Kyle said
"So come by, and bring dessert." Marcus said
"All right." Kyle said smiling
"Well, I better let you get back to work." Marcus said
"Thank you." Kyle said, grateful for what Marcus said
to him.
"No problem." Marcus replied
"So, you sure you're all right?" Kyle asked, "I mean
after what happened, I know what it's like to have
someone change on you like that."
"What?" Marcus asked, "You've had something like that
happen to you?"
Kyle realized he gave away too much, "Oh, well...um,
not really."
Marcus knew Kyle wasn't telling him something.
"What's going on? You can tell me." Marcus said
Kyle sighed, "It was a while ago, I had a boyfriend
and he turned on me. It's a long story."
"Is that why you don't get into relationships
anymore?" Marcus asked
"Yea, kinda." Kyle replied
"Kyle, don't let a bad experience ruin your life."
Marcus said
"What about you? You're taking a break from guys
too." Kyle said
"Not forever. I just need to let this all get past
me, but I'm not going to let what happen keep me from
finding love." Marcus replied
"Marcus, you don't understand." Kyle said
"I don't? My boyfriend just tried to kill me." Marcus
replied
"Yea, but you were seeing him for a couple weeks. I
was seeing this guy for seven months, we were in love
with each other." Kyle explained, "And he's dead now."
"He's dead?" Marcus asked
"Yea, because of me." Kyle replied
Kyle and Marcus looked around and noticed a few
customers looking at them.
"I should get back to work." Kyle said
"All right, I'll call you." Marcus said
"Okay." Kyle replied
Marcus turned to give Kyle one last piece of advice.
"Kyle, take my advice. Don't run away from David,
because he's not going to leave you." Marcus said,
"You don't want to wake up one day and realize you
lost your chance at true love."
Marcus quietly left and Kyle quickly got back to work,
thinking about what Marcus said to him.
Back at the gay bar, David and the guy he was with
came out of the backroom. After everything was over,
David was still thinking about Kyle, so he went to the
bar and started drinking.
"You better take it easy." a guy said sitting next to
David.
"Why's that?" David asked taking another sip of his
drink
"Otherwise I won't get a chance to get to know you."
the guy replied
David looked over at the guy sitting next to him, he
was tall about 6'3 brown hair, blue eyes, nice body.
"And what is it you want to know about me?" David
asked
"Maybe your name?" the guy asked
"David."
"Nice, my name's Brett." the guy said holding out his
hand, David shook it.
"Good to meet you." David said
"So, what are you doing here so early in the day?"
Brett asked
"Is it ever to early to have a drink?" David asked
taking another sip of his drink
"I guess not." Brett replied smiling
"How about you?" David asked
"I just moved here, just getting familier with the
different gay bars and clubs. Seeing if I meet any
cool people." Brett replied
"So, have you met any?" David asked smiling
"Think I met one." Brett replied
"Well, maybe you can introduce me sometime." David
said leaning in towards Brett.
"Maybe I will." Brett replied
David then kissed Brett.
At the resteraunt Tyler works at, Tyler was busy
finishing up inventory when Jake came in.
"Hey you." Tyler said as Jake walked up
"Hey, what's up?" Jake asked
"Nothing. Don't you have class?" Tyler asked
"Yea, I went to my psychology class, but decided not
to go to my statistics class today." Jake replied
"Aren't you failing that class?" Tyler asked
"No, I have a D." Jake replied
"So, you're almost failing." Tyler pointed out
"I'll be fine." Jake replied
"Jake, you should go to class." Tyler said
"But I wanted to come here and see you." Jake answered
sweetly
"Don't suck up to me." Tyler said laughing
"I was wondering when we might be doing a second
date." Jake brought up
"So, you want a second date?" Tyler asked
"Yea, don't you?" Jake asked concerned, "I mean if you
don't want to-"
Tyler cut him off, "No, I do. I just wasn't sure if
you did."
"Oh, I do." Jake said smiling
"Okay." Tyler replied
"Should we go out Thursday?" Jake asked
"Sure." Tyler answered, but then remembered, "Oh wait,
we can't."
"Why not?" Jake asked
"We're going over to Marcus's house for Thanksgiving."
Tyler replied
"Oh, sounds good." Jake said
"Yea, so how about Friday?" Tyler asked
"It's a date." Jake replied sitting down at the bar as
Tyler finished inventory, "What do you want to do on
our second date?"
"Anything as long as it doesn't end with sex." Tyler
said cassually not even thinking about what he said.
"What?" Jake asked
"Did I say that out loud?" Tyler asked realizing he
slipped up.
"You don't like us having sex?" Jake asked confused
"No, it's not that." Tyler replied, "It's just that
sex is all we seem to do."
"Is that a bad thing?" Jake asked
"No, of course not, but I think we should spend more
time talking and getting to know each other more
instead of just getting in each others pants." Tyler
explained
"Getting to know each other more?" Jake asked, "Tyler,
we're friends, we know everything about each other."
"We don't know the more intimate things about each
other." Tyler replied, "I just think we should try and
spend less time sleeping together and more time
actually developing this relationship."
Jake nodded understandingly.
"You're right." Jake said, "We'll slow it down."
"Good." Tyler replied
"Are we bringing anything to Marcus's on
Thanksgiving?" Jake asked
"Yea, yams." Tyler answered
"Yams? Who the hell even eats yams?" Jake asked
"I don't know, but every Thanksgiving meal I've been
to has them." Tyler replied
"Do you like them?" Jake asked
"No." Tyler replied
"Okay, then let's bring something the guys will
actually eat." Jake said
"Any suggestions?" Tyler asked
"Yea, how about we bring a pie?" Jake replied
"Sounds like a plan." Tyler said
"Cool." Jake answered, "So how's Marcus?"
"I haven't talked to him, but Randal said he's all
right." Tyler said
"That's good." Jake said, "I can't believe Thomas went
all crazy on him."
"I know, thank God he wasn't hurt." Tyler added
"I feel kind of guilty. That night Marcus was in
danger and we were out on a date." Jake said
"We didn't know." Tyler said, "It wasn't something we
saw coming."
"Still, I need to make it up to Marcus." Jake said
"You're his friend, that's good enough for him." Tyler
said
"You think?" Jake asked
"I know." Tyler replied smiling, "You're a good
person, Marcus knows that if you could have prevented
it you would have."
"Thanks." Jake said
"That's kinda why I like you." Tyler said
"Oh is it?" Jake asked playfully
"It is." Tyler replied giving Jake a kiss.
That night at Kyles apartment, Kyle was sitting
looking at the picture of him and David together. He
thought about what Marcus said to him, he did love
David and David loved him. The only thing keeping him
from being happy was himself. Kyle then fell asleep.
****KYLE'S DREAM****
Kyle was walking a long the beach with David.
"You like it here?" David asked
"It's amazing." Kyle replied
"Everything can be like this you know." David said
"What are you talking about?" Kyle asked
"Just give us a chance, and you'll see that life can
be this beautiful." David replied
"David, I don't know." Kyle said
"Kyle, don't give up so easily on the possibility of
us." David said, "It could turn out to be everything
you ever wanted."
With that David leaned in and kissed Kyle.
****END DREAM****
Kyle woke up, it was still night, he then realized
that he could be happy with David, if he just put his
fears aside and let David in.
That night Randal was on the phone with David.
"Wait, you met a guy?" Randal asked confused
"Yea, his name's Brett." David replied, "He's so hot."
"Is that the only reason you're into him?" Randal
asked
"Well for now, I don't really know him too well yet."
David replied
"You moved on from Kyle really fast." Randal pointed
out, "I mean this morning you wanted to get with him
and now you're seeing someone else?"
"You guys were right. I needed to move on from him."
David said, "And I think Brett can help me do that."
"I guess." Randal said, "Just don't get into a
relationship just to get over Kyle. Do it because
it's what you want."
"I know, thanks." David said sincerely
"Well, you might as well bring him over Thanksgiving."
Randal said
"Oh yea, what do you want me to bring?" David asked
"I guess dessert." Randal replied
"Cool cool." David said
"But seriously David, are you seeing this guy because
you like him or is it because of Kyle?" Randal asked
"Honestly, I like him. He's the first guy I've met
who's actually gotten me to feel good, you know?"
David said
"Well, I'm glad to hear that." Randal said
"Thanks." David replied
Thanksgiving came and Randal, Marcus, Kyle, Tyler, and
Jake were getting everything set.
"So, Kyle and Tyler brought pies." Marcus said, "We
really didn't plan this out good enough did we?"
"Well, everyone likes pies right?" Jake asked
"Yea, but what are we doing for the main course?"
Marcus asked, "I made the turkey, and Randal brought
potatoes. That's not a lot."
"I thought you were bringing yams." Randal said to
Tyler
"Jake thought we should bring dessert because no one
likes yams." Tyler replied
"I like yams." Marcus said
"Me too." Randal added
"Same here." Kyle said
"Oh, I guess it's just me and Jake who don't." Tyler
said laughing a little.
"We'll improvise." Kyle said
"Improvise what?" Marcus asked
"What do you have in your refridgerator?" Kyle asked
opening it up, "You have brocoli."
"Good, we'll steam some of that." Randal said putting
an arm around Marcus, "See, it's all good."
"What's David bringing?" Marcus asked
"Um, dessert." Randal said sheepishly
"Seriously?" Marcus asked laughing
"Yea." Randal replied
"Where is he anyway?" Marcus asked
"He should be here soon." Randal said
Just as he said that there was a knock on the door.
"I'll get it." Kyle said, excited to talk to David.
Kyle went and opened the door and was suprised to see
David and another guy.
"Hey Kyle, this is Brett." David said
"Nice to meet you." Brett said shaking Kyle's hand.
"Hi." Kyle said confused
"The guys in the kitchen?" David asked walking in with
Brett.
"Yea." Kyle replied still confused
David and Brett walked in and the guys met Brett.
Kyle sat down in a chair and was still confused as to
who Brett was.
During dinner the guys were interested in getting to
know Brett.
"So where did you two meet?" Marcus asked
"At that bar near Melrose." David replied
"You two met at a bar?" Kyle asked
"Yea." Brett replied
"Okay." Kyle said
"Where did you move from?" Jake asked
"West Virginia." Brett answered
Kyle rolled his eyes as he at a piece of turkey.
"West Virginia? So you probably had that Rockwellian
upbringing with a big country house and all that
stuff." Kyle said
"No, actually I was an orphan." Brett answered
"Oh." Kyle replied
"I was too." Tyler said
"Really?" Brett asked
"Yea, I went from foster home to foster home until I
was 18, then I went out and some how was able to make
it." Tyler replied
"Same here." Brett said
"Cue the violins." Kyle said quietly to himself
"Are you okay?" David asked Kyle
"I'm fine." Kyle said putting a fake smile on
"Food all right?" Marcus asked trying to keep the mood
up beat.
"Yea, it's great." Brett answered
"Kiss ass." Kyle mumbled to himself
Randal kicked Kyle under the table.
After dinner the guys were sitting around in the
living room eating pie.
"We're going to go outside." David said as him and
Brett went into the backyard.
"So they're dating?" Tyler asked
"Well, he says they are, but he just met him so I
don't know how serious it is." Randal replied
"So he could be some psycho." Kyle floated
"I think I'm the only one who attracts the crazies."
Marcus joked
"Still he doesn't know him that well." Kyle said
"You okay?" Jake asked
"Yea, I'm fine." Kyle replied, "I just need to talk to
David."
Kyle went and headed to the backyard, when he got out
there he saw David and Brett kissing.
"Oh God." Kyle said shocked to see them going at it.
"Kyle!" David said suprised
"I am so sorry." Kyle said feeling embarrassed
"Do you mind?" David asked
"Oh sorry." Kyle said turning around and looking in
the sky
"Kyle." David began, "The door."
"The door?" Kyle asked confused, after a beat he
understood, "Oh! The door! Yea, I'm going to use it
now. Sorry."
Kyle turned around feeling like an idiot and walked
back inside.
"Everything all right?" Marcus asked
"Yea, fine." Kyle replied sitting down, "David's a
jerk."
"What?" Randal asked
"Okay, he sure knows how to get in someone's pants
quickly." Kyle said, "He was just kissing me last week
and now he's getting it on with that dude."
"Are you jealous?" Tyler asked
"No." Kyle said unconvincingly
"What is it?" Marcus asked
"It's nothing." Kyle replied
"Kyle, can I talk to you?" Marcus asked
"Fine." Kyle said as him and Marcus went to his room.
They sat down on Marcus' bed and talked.
"You're starting to like David. Is that what's
bugging you?" Marcus asked
Kyle sighed, "Yes."
Kyle laid down on the bed.
"Why didn't I realize this earlier?" Kyle asked
"Maybe it's not too late." Marcus said laying down
next to Kyle.
"I think it is." Kyle said, "Why did I have to wuss
out earlier when things were starting to come together
between me and him?"
"You were scarred, it's understandable." Marcus said
"No, I hurt David in the process of me running away
and now he's with someone." Kyle said
"I don't know how serious this thing is between him
and Brett." Marcus said, "They just met a few days
ago."
"Yea, and they seem to really like each other." Kyle
replied, "I think I really blew it."
"I wish I could tell you that everything will work out
in the end." Marcus said trying to comfort Kyle.
"Happy Thanksgiving." Kyle sighed as Marcus put an arm
around Kyle.
