This isn't the story for you.
Here's part 9 entitled "The Gift". This is going to
be my last post until the new year, and then I'll come
back and continue it, I'm going to be taking a
vacation. Hope you all like it!
"THE GIFT"
Over at Randal's apartment Marcus got there and the
two were talking. As they talked the phone rang.
"Hello?" Randal asked answering
"Hello, is this Randal Brody?"
"Yes." Randal replied
"This is Dr. Callaway."
"Oh, hi doctor." Randal said
"Yes, we got the results back." the doctor said
"All right." Randal said preparing himself to hear the
news.....
"You are HIV negative." the doctor said
Randal sighed with relief.
"Thank you doctor." Randal said
"No problem." The doctor replied as Randal hung up.
"Well?" Marcus asked
"It was negative!" Randal replied smiling
"I knew it!" Marcus said giving Randal a hug,
"Congratulations bud."
"Thank you." Randal said, "I never would have gotten
through all this with out you."
"Anytime." Marcus said
"Come on." Randal said getting up, "I was stressing
over all of this that I haven't even started my
Christmas shopping."
"Randal, it's the December 20, you haven't done any
shopping?" Marcus asked
"No, I was so consumed with that damn test." Randal
replied
"The mall's going to be packed." Marcus said
"I know, but it'll be fun." Randal said, "Come on."
Marcus and Randal got up and headed to the mall.
At David's apartment he was sitting on his bed as
Brett finished hanging up some clothes.
"So, was that Kyle who was down there talking to you?"
Brett asked
"Yea." David replied
"He all right?" Brett asked
"He's fine, he's just going through some stuff right
now." David replied
"Is it because of his watch?" Brett asked
"No, it's not that." David answered, "It's just some
personal stuff."
"Oh, I see." Brett said
David then laid back on the bed thinking about Kyle's
situation. He can't believe that Kyle has a brother.
"Sorry, but I have to ask." Brett said, "Is there some
sort of past between you two?"
"What do you mean?" David asked
"Did you two ever date or anything in the past?" Brett
asked
"No." David replied simply
"I don't know, it just seems like you two have some
sort of history together." Brett said
"Him and I are best friends." David said, "That's
all."
"I'm not trying to sound like the jealous boyfriend or
anything, but I was just curious." Brett said
"It's fine." David said getting up and giving Brett a
kiss.
"Well." Brett said changing the subject, "It's going
to be Christmas soon."
"Yes it is." David replied
"Our first Christmas together." Brett said
"You are correct." David said, "Anything special you
want to do?"
"As long as I'm with you it'll be perfect." Brett
replied kissing David some more.
"What do you want for Christmas?" David asked
"I've got it." Brett replied, "A place to live and a
guy I care about."
David smiled at Brett's sweetness.
"Well, I have to do some Christmas shopping still."
David said
"Want me to come?" Brett asked
"No, I'm going shopping for the guys and you. So you
can't see what I'm buying." David answered
"David, really, you don't have to get me anything."
Brett said
"Yes I do." David said kissing Brett goodbye, "I'll
see you in a few hours."
"All right." Brett replied as David left. Brett then
walked into the living room area of the apartment and
looked at the different pictures around the place.
The first thing he noticed was that there were a lot
of pictures of David and Kyle together. One picture
that he noticed right away was one of David and Kyle
lying on a couch and cuddling with each other. It
made Brett wonder exactly what feelings David has for
Kyle, because Brett doesn't want to be the middle man
who gets in the way.
Later that day, at Kyle's apartment he had finished
dwelling over his mother's visit and was wrapping up
some Christmas presents. As he was finishing up David
knocked on the door.
"Hey." Kyle said answering the door.
"Hi." David replied
"What's going on?" Kyle asked
"I was just on my way to the mall and decided to stop
by and see how you were doing." David replied
"I'm fine." Kyle lied
David looked at Kyle's eyes and saw they were still a
little red.
"You've been crying." David said concerned
"No, I haven't." Kyle said
"Yes, you have." David insisted, "What's wrong?"
Kyle walked back into his living room sitting down,
David came in and sat next to him.
"Kyle, I know you better than anyone, I know you're
upset. Talk to me." David said
Kyle sat there silently for a minute, then confessed.
"My mom came over." Kyle finally said
"Your mom?" David asked, "What was she doing here?"
"She...came to tell me that I'm not to see my little
brother." Kyle replied
"What? That's crazy. You told her no right?" David
asked
Kyle shook his head.
"No." Kyle answered, "I agreed with her."
"But he's your brother." David said
"I know that!" Kyle snapped
"Then, why?" David asked
"Because she's right." Kyle answered, "He shouldn't
grow up with me there to influence him."
"Kyle, don't talk like that." David said
"No, it's true." Kyle, "Look at the way I live David.
I'm 22 years old, I've worked at a stupid toy store
for over a year now, I'm only going to college part
time, I spend a lot of my nights in a gay, I can't
even remember the last time I had sex, and I'm alone."
"You're not alone." David said taking Kyle's hand,
"I'm here."
"You have Brett now." Kyle said wishing that David
still had feelings for him.
"So?" David asked, "That doesn't mean I don't have
time for you. You are always my number one priority."
"Thanks." Kyle said, "But that still doesn't change
anything. I'm still not the person I hoped to be."
"What kind of person did you hope to be?" David asked
"I wanted to have graduated college by now, have a
real job, and be with the person I love." Kyle said
almost ready to confess his love to David.
"You can still have all that." David replied, "Just
give it a little more time."
"I don't know. I think I may have pushed away the
person I'm supossed to be with." Kyle said
David and Kyle both shared a look with each other,
David not quite sure if Kyle was talking about him,
Kyle at the same time was worried he may have given
away too much. Just then the phone rang.
"Hello?" Kyle asked answering the phone
"Hey Kyle it's Brett."
"Oh, hey." Kyle said
"Hi, how are you?" Brett asked
"Fine, you?" Kyle asked
"I'm good are you busy now?" Brett asked
"No, I'm just talking to David." Kyle answered
"David's there?" Brett asked
"Yea." Kyle replied, "You want to talk to him?"
"No, actually I have to go." Brett said quickly
"Wait, was there a reason you called?" Kyle asked
"It's not important, I was just going to ask what you
think I should get David for Christmas, but I'll
figure it out." Brett answered
"All right." Kyle said
"Yea, bye." Brett said
"Bye." Kyle replied hanging up.
"Who was that?" David asked
"It was Brett." Kyle replied
"Uh oh." David said
"What?" Kyle asked
"I didn't tell him I'd be over here." David replied
"So, does he need to know where you are all the time?"
Kyle asked
"No, it's just that he thinks that we have a history
with each other." David replied, "I think he's a
little jealous."
"I see." Kyle said
"Yea." David said, "I should get going anyway. Have
some shopping to do."
David got up and headed for the door.
"David." Kyle said, "Thank you for checking up on me."
"Of course." David replied giving Kyle a hug. As they
were ending their hug David pulled away slowly and got
very close to Kyle's face, he looked into Kyle's eyes
for a beat and began to lean in a little further, but
before their lips could meet Kyle moved away.
"You should go get your shopping done." Kyle said
breaking the moment between them.
"Yea." David agreed, "I'll see you."
"Bye." Kyle said as David left.
Kyle closed the door and thought about the kiss the
two almost shared, he wanted to, but at the same time
couldn't come between David and Brett like that.
At Tyler and Randal's apartment the two of them were
discussing the trip they are planning out for the
group and trying to find days they all could go.
"Weekdays are bad because David has the store, Marcus
is always going in and out of court for cases, Randal
works at the club, and Kyle works at the toy store
three days a week." Tyler mentioned
"Yea, but David is having the manager at the store
take care of things for two weeks." Jake said, "And
Kyle and Randal can both take off of work if they
wanted to. It's only Marcus who might have trouble
getting off."
"So you think we should do a quick trip?" Tyler asked
"Sounds good to me." Jake said
"All right. We'll call the guys later." Tyler said
"Cool." Jake replied, "This will be fun."
"Yea, it will be." Tyler agreed
"Hey I still have to get the guys Christmas gifts,
want to come with me to the mall?" Jake asked
"Yea sure." Tyler replied getting up.
At the mall Marcus and Randal were looking around in a
few stores, so far Randal only found a gift for Kyle,
but hasn't found anything yet to give the rest of the
guys.
"You're right, the mall is packed." Randal said
"Yea, and there is not a lot of stuff left to buy."
Marcus said
"I never know what to get David." Randal said, "He
owns a music store so I can't give him cd's, he has
pretty much all the clothes a person could have, I've
already given him shot glasses and stuff like that.
He's impossible."
"He likes sports." Marcus said
"Yea both him and Kyle like basketball. Gay men
liking sports, that's not something we see everyday."
Randal joked
"Stereotyping." Marcus pointed out
"It's true, I mean out of all of us they're the only
two who know what ESPN is." Randal said
"You should get David a jersey." Marcus suggested
"That's a good idea, but I have no idea what team he
likes. Do you?" Randal asked
"No." Marcus replied
"Damn." Randal said frustrated, "If I don't find
something then I'm just going to get him a gift
certificate."
"Wow, talk about impersonal." Marcus said
"I know, but what else am I going to do?" Randal asked
as they walked around looking for another store to
look at. As they were walking around they ran into
Kyle.
"Hey." Kyle said walking up to them.
"Hey, what are you doing here?" Marcus asked, "I
thought you were done with all your Christmas
shopping."
"I am, I just needed to get out of my apartment for a
little bit. I like being here around this time of
year. It's nice." Kyle said
"Come with us to the sports store, I'm going to get
David a jersey, but I don't know what team he likes."
Randal said
"You don't know?" Kyle asked suprised, "You never how
often him and I talked about the Lakers?"
"No, any sports related conversations I lose
interest." Randal replied laughing
"Well, he likes the Lakers." Kyle said
"Cool." Randal replied as they walked together.
"So why did you need to get out of your apartment?"
Marcus asked
"My emotions went on over drive today." Kyle replied
"How come?" Marcus asked
"A lot of things." Kyle replied, "But I just want to
let that go and focus on the holidays and my friends."
"All right." Marcus said understanding
"How much Christmas shopping do you guys have left?"
Kyle asked
"The only gift I've gotten yet is yours." Randal
replied
"Really?" Kyle asked smiling, "What is it?"
"You're like a little kid." Randal said laughing,
"You've been working at that toy store too long."
"Tell me about it." Kyle said
"I thank you for being easy to shop for. The other
guys are a pain in my ass." Randal said
"David will like the jersey." Kyle began, "Tyler likes
old movies, Jake has a collection of super hero action
figures that he doesn't show many people, so you might
want to get him something he can add to that."
"Wow." Randal said impressed, "You're really
insightful. I didn't know that about them."
"Well, over the years of us knowing each other I pick
up on what you guys like and don't like." Kyle replied
"How about Marcus?" Randal asked, "He won't tell me
what he wants."
"I told you, I don't need anything." Marcus chimed in
"Liar." Kyle said smiling, "I know what he wants."
"What?" Randal asked
"Yea, what?" Marcus asked seeing if Kyle really knew
"Come here Randal." Kyle said whispering into Randal's
ear.
"Really?" Randal asked
"Yup." Kyle replied
"That's perfect." Randal said
"I know." Kyle agreed
"What?" Marcus asked
"Nothing, you'll find out in a few days." Randal
replied
"Should we just have Christmas eve at my place?" Kyle
asked, "I mean, it's easier with Marcus staying with
me and all."
"Yea, that sounds good." Randal replied
"Cool." Kyle said as they walked into a sports store
to buy David a Laker jersey. After they got the
jersey the three of them sat down to get dinner. As
they were eating at the food court they saw Tyler and
Jake walking by.
"Hey losers!" Randal called out jokingly
The two of them turned around at the shout out.
"Funny how they turned around when Randal shouted out
'losers'." Kyle pointed out laughing
"Hey guys." Jake said as him and Tyler sat down at the
table with them.
"What's up?" Marcus asked eating a french fry.
"Nothing, we were just going to get some gifts for you
guys." Tyler replied
"Same here." Randal said
"Wow, all you guys are here with out me?" David asked
smiling as he walked up to them.
"We just ran into each other." Jake replied
"I thought you were done with your shopping Kyle?"
David asked
"I am, I just needed to get out for a little bit."
Kyle replied
David nodded his hand understanding.
"Oh, I'm glad you guys are here." Tyler said, "Jake
and I were wondering if you guys wanted to go on a
trip with us."
"When?" Marcus asked
"Whenever you guys are all free." Jake replied, "It's
important that we all be together."
"I'm going to be busy for the next few weeks, big case
coming up." Marcus said
"Well, whenever your free." Tyler said
"Next month sound okay?" Marcus asked
"Yea, of course." Jake said, "It doesn't matter when,
I just really want us to go."
"Sounds good to me." Randal said
"Same here." Kyle and David said
"It's weird." Kyle said, "Every since we all started
hanging out we used to always do our Christmas
shopping together. We'd go to the mall together,
split up to do our individual shopping, and them meet
up again to have dinner. Now it was purely
coincidence that we all met up with each other today."
"I know." Jake said, "That's why I want us to go on
this trip, help us re-connect with each other."
"Sounds like a good idea to me." Randal said
They all sat quietly to comtemplate that, they all
realized that they have drifted.
"Well," David said "I should go back to shopping, I
need to get Brett something."
"Okay." Marcus said
"Before you go." Kyle said, "We're having Christmas
eve at my place this year."
"I'll see you guys then." David said
The guys said bye to David as he left.
"We should go to." Tyler said as him and Jake got up
"Bye guys." Jake said as him and Tyler went the
opposite way of were David walked off to.
Randal, Marcus and Kyle got up as well. Marcus and
Kyle left as Randal finished getting everyone's gifts.
After David finished getting a gift for Brett he
went home. When he got there Brett was sitting at the
table in the kitchen eating.
"Hey." David said walking in.
"Hi." Brett replied, "You were gone a while."
"Yea, you know the mall was crowded and all." David
said
"How long were you at Kyles?" Brett asked
"Just for a few minutes." David replied
"Why didn't you tell me you were going to see him?"
Brett asked suspiciously.
"I just decided to along the way to the mall." David
replied
"David, really what is it with you two?" Brett asked,
"Because I think I should know."
"It's nothing." David said getting annoyed with the
interrogation
"If it has a chance of affecting our relationship then
it's something." Brett said
"Do you not trust me?" David asked, "Is that it?"
"I can't trust you unless you tell me the truth."
Brett replied
David sighed realizing he's right.
"Fine." David said, "I'll tell you."
Brett sat down waitng for David to start talking.
"Truth is...for a long time, I was in love with Kyle."
David confessed
"So you two were a couple?" Brett asked
"No, he didn't want a relationship." David replied,
"So I gave up on that."
"I see." Brett said, "How long ago was this?"
"I was in love with him for a long time, but I told
him about a month ago." David said
"Are you still in love with him?" Brett asked,
"Because if you are then you and me will never work."
David sat there silently, not sure how to answer that
question.
"I honestly don't know." David finally said
"So then the only reason we're together now is because
Kyle turned you down?" Brett asked
"No, I care about you." David said, "That's why I'm
with you."
"I'm sorry David, but I just want to make sure where
we stand because if you are in love with Kyle then I
don't want to be the person standing in the way of
that or the person who your trying to use to get over
him." Brett said
"Brett, I'm with you. Not because I want to get over
Kyle, but because I want to be with you." David said
kissing Brett, "I'm sorry I didn't tell you."
"So you really want me? I'm not just a Kyle
substitute?" Brett asked
"No, you're not a Kyle substitute. You're the one I
want." David replied kissing Brett some more. He then
hugged Brett tightly, he likes Brett, but still can't
help but think of Kyle.
The next couple days past and the guys didn't see each
other much. On Christmas eve Kyle and Marcus were in
the kitchen cooking. Marcus was making a roast, and
Kyle was making potatoes, rolls, and a salad.
"I think I put too much pepper in the potatoes." Kyle
said tasting them.
"Let me taste." Marcus said eating a small bite,
"Taste fine. The spice is a nice touch to it."
"Cool." Kyle said putting the potatoes to the side and
started rinsing the vegetables off for the salad.
"All right, the roast is almost done." Marcus said
"Smells good." Kyle said
"Thank you. It's an old family recipe." Marcus said
proudly
As they were talking Randal walked in.
"Hey guys." Randal said holding his gifts.
"Merry Christmas." Marcus said giving Randal a hug
"How you doing?" Randal asked Kyle putting an arm
around him.
"I'm doing good. You?" Kyle asked
"I'm all right." Randal replied, "So where should I
put the gifts?"
"Under the tree." Marcus said pointing to the
Christmas tree in the living room. Randal went and
put the presents there and then went back to the
kitchen to help out.
Tyler, Jake, David and Brett arrived and they all ate
and and after words they sat in the living room
exchanging gifts.
"I can't believe you got me this." David said to
Randal holding up the Laker jersey.
"Yea, Kyle helped me pick it out." Randal said
"That explains it." David said laughing, "I knew you
didn't know my favorite basketball team."
"Here Brett." Kyle said handing Brett a gift.
"Thank you Kyle." Brett said gratefully, he opened it
up and took out a Christmas ornament with the year
2003 on it.
"We all have certain Christmas ornaments on the tree."
Kyle said pointing to the Christmas tree, "And since
this is your first one with us, I think you deserve
one too. You're a part of us now."
"Thank you." Brett said truely touched.
"No problem." Kyle replied
"Hey Kyle," David said getting Kyle's attention, "Can
I talk to you?"
"Yea sure." Kyle replied as him and David went into
the bedroom.
"Thank you." David said closing the door.
"For what?" Kyle asked
"For accepting Brett into the group. I mean I know at
first you were a little hesitent and with him breaking
your grandpa's watch I thought you would never like
him." David replied
"Oh, I know it wasn't his fault the watch broke." Kyle
answered
"Well, thank you." David said hugging Kyle.
"Anything to make you happy." Kyle said
"Oh, here's your gift." David said handing Kyle a
small box.
"Oh thank you." Kyle said beginning to open it.
"No wait." David said putting his hand over Kyle's,
"Wait and open it when it's officially Christmas, so
at midnight."
"Why?" Kyle asked
"I want this to be an official Christmas gift, not a
Christmas eve one." David said smiling
"All right." Kyle replied giving David a hug, "Thank
you."
"You're welcome." David said
"I'll give you my gift." Kyle said as he went to go
get it. When he got back he handed it to David.
David sat down on the bed and opened it up and took
out a stuffed animal of a bear. David looked at it
nostalgically.
"Remember how a few months ago that bear of yours got
all torn up by your cousin's dog who came to visit?"
Kyle asked, "Well, you thought it was destroyed, but I
took it and had it fixed for you. I know you've had
that since you were little so I thought you would want
it back to the way it was."
"I can't believe you did this." David said happily, "I
thought Buddy was long gone."
"So your happy?" Kyle asked
"I'm more than happy." David said giving Kyle a big
hug, "Thank you so much for doing this."
"You're welcome." Kyle replied
"You know, you're still the only one who knows about
this guy." David said holding up the teddy bear, "I
remember I got this for Christmas when I was three
years old."
"That's why it was important for me to make sure you
had it again." Kyle said
David looked at Kyle, he saw the guy who knew him
better than anyone, the guy who knows his secrets, who
knows that he secretly still has a teddy bear and
didn't laugh at him about it. He saw his soul mate.
"Kyle, earlier today when I was with you." David
began, "When I was about to leave, did you notice-"
Before David could finish Marcus knocked on the door.
"Hey you guys we're getting ready to have some
dessert." Marcus said
"We'll be right out." Kyle called back, he then turned
back to David, "I guess we should get back."
"Yea." David said nodding slowly
The two walked back out into the living room, the pie
had already been served and David and Kyle grabbed a
plate. As they were eating David and Kyle split up,
David sat next to Brett and Kyle sat next to Randal
and Marcus.
"What were you two doing in there?" Tyler asked
"Just talking." Kyle replied, "David needed to ask me
something."
"Oh, I see." Jake said eating a bite of pie
"So have you guys decided on dates for the weekend
trip?" David asked changing the subject
"Yea, we decided for the end of January." Jake said
"And as our Christmas present to you guys we're going
to pay for it." Tyler added
"Wow, you guys that's really generous. Are you sure?"
Marcus asked
"Yea, that has to be expensive." Randal said
"Don't worry about it. It'll be great." Jake said
smiling
"Thanks guys." Kyle said, "This will be fun."
"Yea, it'll be nice." Brett said
While the guys were talking about the trip David
looked up at Kyle who was busy into the conversation
as well. He thought about how Kyle got his teddy bear
fixed for him, and he remembered when he told Kyle
about the bear...
***FLASHBACK****
It was three years ago, David and Kyle had been
friends for about a year, Kyle was 19 and David was
20. David was still living at his parents place.
Kyle and David were hanging out in David's room.
"You know, for the year we've known each other I think
I've told you more than I've told any of my other
friends." David said
"Really?" Kyle asked suprised
"Yea, I mean you're the only one who knows I'm gay."
David replied, "I've pretty much told you everything
about me."
"In the year we've been friends you've told me
everything?" Kyle asked
"Well, I haven't introduced you to my one friend."
David said reaching under his pillow.
"What are you talking about?" Kyle asked
David then pulled out his teddy bear.
"This is Buddy." David said holding his teddy bear
proudly
"Buddy?" Kyle asked smiling taking the bear.
"Yea, I've had him since I was three." David replied
"Wow, you've had him this long?" Kyle asked, "I don't
think I have any of my old toys."
"This one was my best friend. The one I always talked
to about my problems when I was younger, he always
made me feel better. He still does." David replied
"That's nice." Kyle said sincerely
"You don't think I'm a loser for still having a
stuffed animal?" David asked
"No, actually I think it's really great." Kyle replied
"Thanks for not laughing about it." David said
relieved
"It's sweet that you still have him." Kyle said
"Really?" David asked
"Yea, shows your soft side, and I like that." Kyle
replied
"You might like my 'hard' side better though." David
said smiling
"God, you're such a pervert." Kyle said taking a
pillow and smacking David with it.
"Hey!" David said laughing
"Just when you show your sentimental side you have to
bring back the sex talk." Kyle said jokingly
"That's me!" David said proudly
"You loser." Kyle said laughing then laying down with
his head on David's chest.
"What's going on in here?" David's mom asked looking
at the two of them laying together in bed.
David and Kyle both exchanged a worried look....
****END FLASHBACK****
"David." Brett said waking David up from his day
dream.
"What?" David asked
"Do you want cider or hot chocolate?" Jake asked
"Hot chocolate please." David replied
Jake and Kyle went into the kitchen to go get the
drinks.
"David." Brett said
"What?" David asked
"Why were you concentrating so hard on Kyle?" Brett
asked
"What do you mean?" David asked
"I noticed that for the past few minutes you weren't
taking your eyes off of him." Brett replied, "It was
like you were in a trance or something."
"It's nothing." David said averting his eyes from
Brett so he wouldn't see that he was lying. David
couldn't believe it himself, he thought he was over
him, but he realized how much he still loved Kyle.
In the kitchen Kyle and Jake were getting the hot
chocolate and cider ready.
"Oh my God." Jake said
"What?" Kyle asked
"David is so in love with you still." Jake replied
"What are you talking about?" Kyle asked
"Are you blind?" Jake asked, "When we were talking in
there he couldn't keep his eyes off of you."
"What?" Kyle asked not believening it.
"He looked exactly how he looked before when he was in
love with you. You have this affect on him and make
it look like he's hypnotized by you." Jake said
"Yea right." Kyle replied
"Kyle, you ignored the signs that he loved you before
you were in love with him. Don't make the same
mistake now, otherwise you will loose him for good."
Jake warned
Kyle stood there really absorbing the truth to Jake's
words.
When Kyle and Jake came back out they handed out
the cider and hot chocolate to everyone.
"Hey Kyle, turn on the radio to that Christmas
station." Tyler suggested
Kyle went over and turned the radio on. When he found
the station the first song that they heard was "The
Christmas Shoes"
"Oh no." Marcus said laughing
"What?" Brett asked
"When David and Kyle first heard this song they
started crying." Randal explained
"It's a sad song!" David said defensively, "It's a
little boy trying to buy his dying mom shoes. How can
you guys not find that song sad?"
"Yea." Kyle threw in, "I wish I loved my mom as much
as that kid does in this song."
"It's a sad song, but you guys got all emotional when
you heard this song." Marcus said
"They got all emotional everytime they heard this
song." Tyler said
"Shut up." Kyle said
"Okay everyone be quiet and lets listen to the song
then look back at David and Kyle." Jake said
Everyone got quiet and listened to the chorus:
'Sir, I want to buy these shoes for my Mama, please
It's Christmas Eve and these shoes are just her size
Could you hurry, sir, Daddy says there's not much time
You see she's been sick for quite a while
And I know these shoes would make her smile
And I want her to look beautiful if Mama meets Jesus
tonight'
The guys all looked back at David and Kyle.
"You guys suck." Kyle said wiping his eyes.
"It's sad." David said getting teary eyed also.
"You both are losers." Randal said jokingly
"See what an emotional guy your with Brett." Jake said
"Yea, I know." Brett replied
"The two have known each other so long they laugh, cry
and everything to the same things." Tyler pointed out
"Apparently." Brett said seeing how close Kyle and
David really are.
At around eleven the guys started leaving.
"Thanks, it was great." Jake said giving Marcus and
Kyle a hug as him and Tyler left.
"Come over tomorrow we'll hang out." Tyler said
"Okay." Kyle replied as they left
"Thanks for everything. The gifts you guys got me
were great." Randal said as he left
"Bye bud." Marcus said hugging Randal, then he
whispered in his ear, "I'm glad you got your Christmas
wish."
"Yea, me too." Randal replied still ecstatic that he
doesn't have HIV.
"Bye Randal." Kyle said
David and Brett came up and thanked them.
"Remember, open your gift at midnight." David said
giving Kyle a hug, "Merry Christmas. Love you."
"Love you too." Kyle replied
"Thanks Kyle." Brett said, "The gift meant a lot."
"No problem." Kyle replied smiling
David and Brett thanked and hugged Marcus before they
too left. Marcus and Kyle closed the door and went
back to the living room, they sat down and relaxed.
Kyle sat on the couch thinking about what Jake said to
him.
"Good Christmas?" Marcus asked
Kyle though didn't even hear Marcus, he was too deep
in thought.
"Kyle." Marcus said getting his attention
"Sorry, what?" Kyle asked
"You have a good Christmas?" Marcus asked
"Yea." Kyle replied, "It was nice."
"Well, I think we should save the mess and clean it up
tomorrow." Marcus said
"Sounds good." Kyle replied
"Okay, well I'm going to go to sleep." Marcus said
getting up
"Okay night." Kyle said as Marcus headed to his room.
Kyle then laid down on the couch for a little bit. He
ended up falling asleep...
When David and Brett got back to their apartment the
two went into the bedroom.
"I'm so tired." David said laying down.
"David, we need to talk." Brett said
"About what?" David asked
"About you and Kyle." Brett replied
David sat up wondering where this conversation was
going to lead...
At midnight Kyle suddenly woke up. He looked at his
watch and found it weird how he woke up exactly at
midnight, the time David wanted him to open his gift.
Kyle went to his bedroom and sat on his bed with the
present. He tore off the wrapping and saw a nice
black box, he opened it up and his eye lit up at what
he saw...
He pulled out his Grandpa's watch, the time read
exactly midnight, working and everything, he looked it
over and saw that it had been fixed, beautifully
fixed, it looked better than ever. At first Kyle
thought that it was another watch but he looked on the
back side and saw his Grandpa's name inscribed into
it, it was the real one. He couldn't believe that
David did that, it's the perfect present, the best
present he could ever recieve. Kyle was more in love
with Kyle than ever before...
