St. Moritz--Badrutt's Palace Hotel
Chapter Seven

Once dressed, we walked to the elevator. Our suite was on the sixth floor
and the restaurant was on the lobby level.

When the elevator doors opened, Jacques greeted us and held the doors while
we boarded.

At lobby level, Jacques escorted us to the restaurant and signaled the
maître d'hôtel to seat us. Our table was set and ready, and as we sat
down, the maître d'hôtel removed the small reserved sign from the
table. He greeted us and introduced himself as Maurice. He told us that
André would be providing service for us. Maurice looked to the bar, and
a barman immediately came over carrying a bottle of Champagne in an ice
bucket. He placed it next to me, and went immediately back to the bar,

As we sipped our drinks, André approached the table with the sommelier,

men left the table.

Günther had not said a word the entire time we were at the table, and I
asked him if everything was all right. He said that everything was fine;
the hotel and restaurant had just overwhelmed him. I enquired why he felt

a freshly baked baguette.  He served us, and made room for the sommelier to

André cleared all the other drinks from the table.

As we ate the foie gras and drank the sauterne, which though sweet, paired
well with the foie gras, we talked about the ski season and how nice it had
