A slightly different chapter. Let me know.

Tuesday Evening, early March, 8:40 pm.

Jerome's turn.

I am not a fan of certain holidays. Fortunately, the holidays I dislike
are the ones Denys dislikes as well.

Since we're in the "holiday" business at Something Beautiful Flowers and
Gifts, we know much too much about Administrative Personnel Week
(Secretaries's Day,) and more than we'd like to know about Grandparent's
Day.

However, there is a newer holiday I can fully endorse. Denys told me
about it, and I love it. No, I LOVE it. And, amazingly enough, we
don't make an extra dime on the day.

Denys spends a lot of time on line. He participates to greater or
lesser extents at three websites. One for comedy writers, and one for
antique technology, and a fetish site that shall remain anonymous.

One of the other contributors to the comedy site mentioned March 20th a
few years ago.

March 20th is now considered (by some, at least,) to be the "male"
counterpart of St. Valentine's Day.

No, it is not called St. Butkus's Day, or Lord LeBron Day. Nor is it
Titan Trump Day.

March 20th is called "Steak and Blow Job Day."

I am not making that up, although to some of us, "S & BJ D" is sort of a
non-event.
(What the hell? We're gay men, living in a stable partnership.)

I love many things about Denys, and the fact that he can pan-broil a
steak very well is merely one of the things I love.

Since we're both trying to keep our cholesterol counts below ten
zillion, we don't have steak very often. Hell, we don't even have
hamburgers that often.

There are times, however, when I may start clucking if I see another
boneless, skinless (flavorless) chicken breast.

Denys finds Steak and Blow Job Day almost as amusing as I do. He does
not make a huge effort at it, but there is steak for dinner that
evening, and he uses the green and white Fiesta dishes on a candlelit
table. Green Fiesta, and white Fiesta. On a light blue tablecloth,
the effect is startlingly pleasant.

In years past, we would talk about St Patrick's Day, and the minor trade
in Oxalis (shamrock) plants, and how we kept careful track of the male
customers who ordered green carnations.

Denys really dislikes green carnations. They make him sad, because
Oscar Wilde, one of Denys's literary heroes was known to wear a green
carnation in his lapel. Of course, a green carnation is not really
found in nature.

Understand, I love flowers, or else I'd probably be selling lawn mowers
at a big box store, or shuffling paper in a tower office. I don't
consider spraying green dye on a carnation to be a crime. Denys feels
otherwise. That's ok. He's allowed.

Denys knows not to mess with a classic menu, too. Steak, baked potato,
steamed broccoli, tossed salad. Maybe a small bite of something
chocolate for dessert,
but just a small bite.

Some years, Denys makes sure the table cloth goes to the floor, and he
disappears very soon after dinner.

Yes, Denys also gives the best blow jobs I have ever had.

Damm, I am one very lucky bear.
