Chapter 5 continued
"Hardwaremans Hardware"


    "But, Mom if dad is going to be coming down here in a couple of weeks
anyway, I do not see why I need to go to New York to visit him? After all he
has gone all this time without seeing me what makes now any different?" it is
pretty hard to convince my mother once her mind is made up, but with enough
whining on the phone, she relented and decided I did not have to accompany
her to New York.  This was good news, because that meant I could spend my
time having sex instead of playing loving son with my absentee father and his
snobby wife and stepson. I just hung up the phone with my mother when the
door bell rang. "I'll get it" I yelled down to my older brother. I raced down
stairs thinking it was Joey. I forgot Roger would be here at 9 :30, and he
was prompt. Roger was an attractive older man. He had to be in his early
40's. He has salt and pepper hair light blue eyes and a goatee mixed with
salt and pepper. He was not really a tall man, not overweight at all, he took
care of his body, as he was tight, not a sign of chub anywhere. Apparently he
had a thing for black women, and my mother even was close enough. I noticed
he was looking me up in down, I had taken a shower and just thrown on a pair

Roger winked at me and disappeared down stairs.

     What is it about guys, have I ignored most of my life, do they really
talk to each other this way, why am I feeling so different? I had little time
to ponder this, because bear, my brothers dog started barking like
crazy.......someone was in the back yard. It was Joey, he has a bad habit of
climbing our fence and often I'd find him waiting on my bed, my mom never
thought twice he was like another son to her. Joey was not used to there
being a huge German shepherd waiting on patio, so there he was hanging on the
fence half over and half off. I had to laugh he was terrified and he had not
met Bear!!!!!! "Well, well well......what do we have here Bear" I said amused
"Looks like we have a thief, coming to steal my family jewels" laughing now
as Joey fighting to keep from falling on to the ground. "OH come on thats not
funny Stephano,call him off" Joey never calls me by my full name unless he is
deadly serious.  "Oh he just wants to say hi Joey, this is bear he is a big
sweety, more bark than bite"  Joey looked uneasy as he climbed down the fence
"Sure thats what they all say, and the next thing you know you have a dog
eating your arm or leg off" Joey said eyeing Bear suspiciously.  "Oh come, he
is well trained, Paulo has him very well trained, he only attacks if given
the command, and only Paulo knows what that is." I said trying to put my best
friend and new sex buddy at ease. Still unsure Joey walked over and knelt
beside me Bear immediately began wagging his tale like a nutcase. "See you
have a new friend here!" I said smiling. Joey and I spend sometime
introducing him with Bear, I knew as long as Joey was afraid, bear would
sense that and it would make him unsure as well and he may bite. "Why are you
dressed like a $4 dollar tart" was Joeys reply once we were in the
garage/family room. "Lock the door" looking over my shoulder "I told you, my

tell Joey. He seemed unimpressed, then I told him Roger was downstairs now,
and to prove it I offered him to go with me while I offered Roger a drink or

the heat in the house. Plan in motion we headed down stairs. We passed
Darren on the way to feed Bear, he and Joey exchanged appraising glances. Hmm

    We found Roger squatting at the main housing unit to the air conditioner.
He had removed his shirt and was sweating. "Oh hey fellas" he greeted us in
his normal jovial manner.  " I thought you might like something cool to
drink" Joey stumbled, obviously impressed with Rogers physique. Roger smiled
thanking him and winked at me, I smiled back, deciding I did not have enough
with flirting with Roger (geez I thought in the back of my mind this is my

Roger was loving the attention, and why not, two teen boys, one a real jock,

how far have you come Roger, you've been at it for a while" Roger picking up

made a special trip out here for us, so as payment I would like to invite you
to dinner.....nothing fancy they guys and I are gonna split some pizzas, and
beer and I think Darren and Pauly are gonna play cards" I said.  "Well, I
dunno I am awfully messy from the work and it is kinda late" he replied, not
giving him a chance to go further " Well thats ok we can wash your clothes
you can borrow Paulys robe he won't mind after all you are doing him a favor
too, saving him from having to do the repair"  and Pauly had walked in by
then "Thats right Roger is if I heard correctly, you can't turn down an offer
like that" grabbing my face his hands" Pauly said "look at this face". Roger
laughed as I gave him my most pleading expression, "Ok OK you guys don't have
to twist my arm, this will be my first Guys night out, in a long time".  I
was excited "Great, lets go order the pizza and Pauly will give his robe, my
shower is upstairs you can use it, or moms its up to you" I was running up
the steps calling over my shoulder, Joey following.  "Wow, you work fast" he
said, amazed at how easy this was all coming to me. "What can I say I am a
natural at getting my way" we laughed and went to order the pizza. Roger went
back to fixing the air and  Paulo and Darren went out to pick up more beer.
Tony my sisters boyfriend had called inviting me to a picture with he and his
cousin, just as my sister said he would. I declined and told him we sort of
had company, it was sort of a guys night tonight. I then invited him over,
but he declinded. Apparently he mentioned it to his brother Todd, because
called me back not 20 minutes later asking to hang out with Joey and I.  I
had not talked to Todd in weeks since the night we were sharing more than a
kiss at the lake. I think I was avoiding him, or perhaps we were avoiding
each other, it was hard to say. Neither one of us sure what to make of our
making out. Joey on the other hand was excited by the thought of Todd coming
over. "Just think of what we could do when the others are occupied playing
cards" Joey whispered in my ear. "What, what was that, sure Todd I guess if
you want you can come over" I relented. Todd agreed he would bring chips and
dip. this was turning into quite an unexpected day. My brother and I were
getting along great.....this was a good day indeed, however freaky it may
have started out.
