The only sound was the odd cicada drumming incessantly, interspersed by the chirrup of a grasshopper in a nearby thicket. The sound bored into the skull and set my teeth on edge. When their bodies were found, they had drunk the radiator dry and still died from dehydration all in one day in the desert. This phenomenon is common as most people tend to take a longer stride to one side or the other which depends upon which hand they favour. None the less it is a harsh unforgiving environment and the payment exacted for any error of judgement is final and invariably fatal.
