This story was inspired by my friend Kyle. It's a bit far from what I
expected, but it serves as a good example of what can happen when you watch
Abbot and Costello meets Dracula and the Wolfman on cable.

All God's Creatures
chapter 1

Kyle slowly pulled him self up through the fog towards reality, fighting
the blurry mugginess that threatened to keep him asleep. His face stuck to
the pillow from saliva, and he groaned as the pillow pulled away.

"Oh, shit." He mumbled, shaking as he rolled to a sitting position. The
room swam in his eyes, and his stomach rolled. The afternoon sun shown
blindingly in the window, and he raised his hand weakly to shield himself.

Unsure of whether or not he needed to urinate or throw up, he rose
unsteadily to his feet and headed for the bathroom. Every muscle in his
body ached, and his head pounded.

Kyle was a gymnast, and possessed a body that looked like chiseled rock.
He stood 5' 10" and weighed 176 lbs., all of it power. His events were the
rings and the floor exercise, and he had medalled in several amateur events.

This morning, however, his athletic body was failing him miserably. He
stood over the toilet and tried to steady himself, holding one hand against
the wall. It took forever to piss, and he finally flushed and adjusted his
bikini briefs, moving to support himself on the sink.

In the mirror, a nightmare looked back at him. His hazel eyes were sunken
in, and his face was pale and drawn. His normally perfect medium length
blond hair was a rat's nest, matted from sleeping hard. He rubbed his right
shoulder near the collarbone and winced. There was a bruise there, and he
couldn't remember why.

He pulled a face, tasting a nasty copper-like flavor in his mouth, and took
out his toothbrush. The Crest helped, but not very much, and he spat into
the sink several times. He turned to the shower and hoisted his
seventeen-year-old legs over the side of the tub one at a time, still
bracing himself with the walls.

As the hot water began to wake him up, vague memories of the party at
Angie's house crept into his mind. It was hard to think, but the images
finally started to settle into a sort of order.

He'd gone to the party with Kirk and James, his two best friends, and the
only two people on earth that knew he was gay, or at least bi. He'd danced
with everybody, losing himself to the music like he always did, and then
couldn't remember much after that. There was a face in his mind, in a hat
of some kind, but it wouldn't focus.

The shower had helped a lot. He went back to his room wrapped in a towel
and rummaged for underwear and clothes, choosing a speedo (maybe some sun
would help), and a baggy tank top and board shorts. He remembered hearing
James mention surfing. Maybe he'd find them at the beach.

A note on the counter informed him that his mother was at work until 7pm,
and his sister had gone to their dad's house for the weekend. Kyle crumpled
the note and tossed it. He poured a coke and sat down, munching on some
crackers from the cupboard. They didn't sit well, so he left them on the
table and grabbed his wallet and keys.

"Damn, Buttler, we thought you were dead." Kirk said as he looked up from
waxing his board as Kyle made his way down the dune towards them. He
slapped James' arm to get his attention. "Check out the zombie, man.
Must've been a wild night."

"What're you talking about?" Kyle muttered irritably, pulling off his
shirt.

"Where's your friend?" James asked, wiggling his eyebrows above his
Oakley's.

	"What friend?"

"The one you left the party with." Kirk grinned. "You know, the one that
you were all over, and the one that was all over you?"

"What are you talking about?" Kyle hopped on one leg and pulled off his
board shorts. "I left with you didn't I?"

"Not fucking likely, sport." James sat down on a towel and took the wax
from Kirk. "Dude, you left with that guy. Don't you remember?"

Kyle sat down on a towel and crossed his legs. He tried to go back through
his foggy thoughts, but nothing was coming out. "I don't remember
anything."

"Jesus, must've been good." Kirk shook his head and reached behind Kyle to
get a soda out of the cooler. "Holy shit! Look at the hickey he's got!"
He pointed at Kyle's shoulder and laughed. James leaned forward and looked,
then whistles softly.

"Damn, Ky, looks like he bit you."

Kyle put his hand on his shoulder. "Knock it off, guys. I don't want to
talk about it any more."

"You really don't remember that?" James raised his eyebrows. "I'd think
it'd stand out in you mind."

"Are you guys surfing or what?" Kyle flopped back and covered his face
with his arm. He heard them laughing as they headed for the water, and a
feeling of loneliness settled over him. His stomach knotted as fear crept
up his spine. Fear of what might have happened, fear of who he'd been with,
the sicknesses he could've gotten. Even in the heat of the sun, he
shivered.

Kyle was not out of the closet, nor did he want to be. He had gone to
great lengths to protect his secret, and so had Kirk and James. He hated
it, but that was the way it had to be. The last thing he wanted was to be a
public fag.

He'd fallen asleep. His tan was deep enough that he wasn't really afraid
of burning, but his skin tingled enough to let him know that he was close.
Groggily, Kyle sat up and reached for his tank top and pulled it on. He
blinked into the afternoon sun out over the water and spotted his friends
riding a medium wave.

A shadow drifted over him, startling him, and he looked up. A tall
muscular blond with a knock out tan stood beside him in a pair of black
board shorts and black sunglasses, smiling down. The face in his dream and
in his memories suddenly snapped into focus. It was him.

"Mind if I sit down?" The boy asked, not waiting for an answer. He folded
his legs in one graceful motion and sat next to Kyle. "Some party last
night, wasn't it?"

"It was you." Kyle whispered. "I remember now."

The boy looked at him and smiled. "You didn't remember me? I'm wounded."

"Uh, actually a lot of last night is a blur." Kyle said quietly, studying
the boy's ice gray eyes. "Don't think I'm an ass, but what's your name?"

"Kelly." Kelly looked out at the surf. "Those your friends?"

Kyle dragged his eyes away and looked, nodding. "Uh huh. James is the
tall one with blond hair, and Kirk is the dark haired one in the body
glove." He looked at his feet for a second, uneasy, and was about to speak
when Kelly chuckled.

"Thinking about last night?" Kelly chuckled. Kyle nodded. "Best time
I've had in a long, long time." He looked at Kyle and winked. "I rarely
come out in the sun, so you should feel honored that it was you that I made
the trip for."

"You've got a helluva tan for someone that hates the sun." Kyle offered.

"It's pretty much permanent by now."

Kyle ran his hand through his hair. "So what did happen last night?" He
glanced nervously at Kelly, then back at the water.

"Want a refresher?" Kelly leaned over and whispered in his ear. Kyle
whipped his head around and met Kelly's lips. With that simple touch, more
memories flooded into his mind. The kiss deepened, and Kyle felt an
electric tingle shoot through his system, causing him to curl his toes.
Images of Kelly's body entered his mind, and images of Kelly's movements
over his own body.

"Whoa." Kyle managed to gasp as they parted. "That was intense."

"Me, too." Kelly smiled, showing Kyle his perfect teeth again. "I have to
leave, but the reason I stopped was that I hoped you see me tonight."

"Where?" Kyle said automatically, not able or willing to pull his eyes
away from Kelly's.

"Right here?" Kelly suggested as he stood up. "I love to come to the
beach at night. You never know what will happen. About 10:30?"

	"10:30." Kyle smiled stupidly.

"See you then." Kelly bent down and whispered in Kyle's ear, then kissed
him again, lightly running his tongue over Kyle's lips. Then he was gone.
Kyle watched him leave, feeling butterflies in his stomach. With a sigh, he
dropped back on the towel, letting the sun soak into his skin.

"Are you gonna sleep all day?" Kirk's voice jarred him awake. Kyle
groaned softly and sat up, blinking into the sun. His chest was tender from
a mild sunburn, and he reached automatically for his tank top. He stopped,
inches short of grabbing it, and knew that he had already put it on once.
He didn't remember taking it off again.

"Kyle, are in there?" James asked, picking up his towel. "Do you want to
get a burger or something?"

"Yeah, fine." Kyle stood up and pulled on his shorts. Something wasn't
right, and he stopped himself from asking the others if they'd seen Kelly.
He looked at the sand around his towel, and couldn't find any footprints. A
chill ran up his spine.

"You're acting like a flake, Ky. What's the matter?" Kirk asked, all
humor fading from his voice and features. "Are you sick?"

"No." Kyle shook his head. "Sorry. I'm just tired from last night.
Let's go, okay?"

James picked up the cooler after handing his board to Kyle to take to the
cars. "Man, that had to've been some fling. If you see him again, don't
let him bite your neck, okay? People will think we did it."

Kirk snickered and put his arm around Kyle's shoulders. "C'mon, man.
Don't let him fuck with you." They climbed the dune up to the vehicles, and
Kirk stopped at Kyle's car. He looked intently down at Kyle, deep concern
on his face. "Can I tell you something?"

Kyle shifted nervously. "Of course. What?"

Kirk looked over his shoulder at James and back to Kyle. "You know, we've
never had a problem with your choices, man. It was a shock, but we're your
buds, you know?"

"I know." Kyle smiled lopsidedly, warmed and embarrassed.

"We want you to be happy, dude, really, but be careful, okay?" Kirk
finished. Kyle nodded. "One more thing, man. If he hurts you, we'll kill
him."

"I'm not exactly a puss, Kirk." Kyle chuckled and hugged his friend
quickly. Surprisingly, Kirk's arms wound around him briefly. "Thanks,
though."

"You're the man, Ky. See you at IHOP?" IHOP was the restaurant of choice
for the three of them, their favorite hang. Kyle nodded heading for his car
and waved. Kirk smiled lopsidedly and waved back.

The rest of the day was almost normal, and Kyle but the strange happenings
out of his mind. At dinner, he listened to his sister, Jen, describe their
father's new squeeze of the month, and had a good laugh with his mother as
the girl described enormous breasts.

At nine pm, while sitting and watching TV with them, Kyle felt the hair on
the back of his neck stand up. It was nearly dark outside, and he looked at
his watch, suddenly remembering he was supposed to meet Kelly.

A shiver ran through him as the memories of the afternoon came back to him.
It scared him and thrilled him at the same time, and it was no surprise
that thinking about Kelly's lips made something happen in his lap.

"Mom, some of the gang are having a bon fire at the beach tonight. Can I
go? I won't be late." He asked, standing up after his little buddy had
gone limp again.

"You didn't get in until two this morning, Kyle. I don't think it's a good
idea." His mother looked up at him from her chair.

"I'm sorry. I lost track of time. I won't let it happen again."

"If it does," she said with complete sincerity, "You're done at the beach
for a month, got it?"

"Thanks." He bent to kiss her and raced up the stairs. His heart pounded
as he thought about the little white lie he'd just told, and he went into
his room to rummage for clothes. He showered and did his hair, feeling
almost panicky.

Nothing looked right, and he tossed several articles of clothing onto the
bed and floor. Finally, he settled on a pair of white board shorts and a
white Redsand t-shirt. As he started to dress, he pulled out a pair of
underwear and stopped, looking at them. A totally wicked thought went
through his mind, and he tossed them back in the drawer. He'd go without
underwear tonight, and if they ended up swimming or something, they could
skinny dip.

That brought a smile to his face. He pulled on the shorts, enjoying the
feel of his equipment hanging loose and the shiny fabric against his skin,
and pulled on his shirt. He was slightly red from the sun earlier, but the
white clothes really showed his tan off. He kicked on some sandals and ran
down the stairs.

"Remember your promise." His mother called as he passed by.

"I will!" He waved. It took almost twenty minutes to drive to the beach,
and as Kyle pulled up, he realized he hadn't brought a towel to sit on.
"Shit." He muttered, climbing out of the car. Oh, well, fuck it. They
could sit on the sand. He smiled to himself and climbed down the dune to
the beach.

A half-mile off, he could see the fire of someone's party, and the warm
breeze blew in from the ocean, carrying a salty musty smell that was
familiar to him. He found the spot from this afternoon and sat down,
relaxing. Kyle loved the beach. He watched the waves come in and let his
mind drift.

	"Am I late?"

Kyle jumped as Kelly sat down next to him. "Hey. No, you're right on
time." He smiled, taking a second to look the tall blond over. Kelly wore
cargo shorts and an extremely red shirt. His crystal eyes locked with
Kyle's, and he felt himself almost falling into them.

"I'm glad you came." Kelly took Kyle's hand and stroked it. "Sometimes
nights like last night end up being a one time thing, you know?"

"Actually, it took me all day to remember last night, or parts of it, so I
guess I was curious." Kyle chuckled. "I still don't remember meeting you,
but I remember the, uh, good parts." He blushed.

"Thank God. I was afraid I wasn't very memorable." Kelly sighed and
kissed Kyle's hand, causing shivers. "I sort of wanted to have a romantic
night at my place. Interested?"

"Oh, yeah." Kyle mumbled intoxicated with Kelly's eyes. "Wait, though."
He sat back and shook his head. "Uh, my mother wasn't real happy with me
for being out all night last night. As much as I'd like too, I can't stay
as long."

Kelly smiled. "You'd be amazed how a short time can turn into forever.
Let's go." He stood up and pulled Kyle to his feet, wrapping his arms
around Kyle's waist. They kissed, much more deeply than they had during the
day, and Kyle felt himself give in with all his heart.

"Appetizer." Kelly whispered in his ear, and hand in hand they walked up
to Kyle's car. They drove a short distance, with Kelly pointing out turns,
and Kyle found himself looking at some enormous houses. Wrought iron fences
lined huge grounds, all carefully manicured.

"Is this where we came last night?" He asked, overwhelmed by the lavish
surroundings.

"Yes, that one there." Kelly pointed to a gated driveway. The gates
opened as the car approached, and Kyle looked at Kelly.

	"I don't remember this."

Kelly laughed. "You were more interested in me at the time." They pulled
up to the side of the house, a stone monument of a home, and Kyle shut off
the car.

He felt funny parking his '93 Cavalier near a place like this, and let his
eyes roam over the walls and patio as they got out. "Wow, your family must
do pretty well."

"Actually, the place belongs to my aunt. My parents are dead." Kelly
stated matter of factly. "They died a long time ago."

"I'm sorry." Kyle said automatically. He followed Kelly in through a set
of French doors that opened onto a huge modern media room, filled with
couches, an incredible stereo system, and a giant flat screen TV.

"Don't be. I was over it way back. Want something to drink?" Kelly led
the way into a bright white and stainless steel kitchen.

"Maybe a Sprite or something. My stomach has been weird all day." Kyle
leaned against the counter and looked around. "This is a beautiful house,
Kelly."

"My aunt has good taste. She's out tonight, but maybe we'll meet her
later." Kelly led them up a back set of stairs to the second floor, then
rounded up on to another set of stairs. They emerged into the third floor,
and Kyle whistled.

It was obviously Kelly's living area, with a sort of living room that
contained a conversation pit style couch group, another huge TV, and a
pretty decent music system. Several posters from current musical groups
were framed on the wall, many of them signed by the artists, and cool little
trinkets and sculptures were scattered through the room.

Two doors led off to the bathroom and bedroom, although Kyle didn't see
into them as they sat down. Kelly picked up a remote and aimed it at the
wall. A gas fireplace roared to life, and the lights dimmed automatically.
Kyle couldn't help but be impressed.

"Can I ask you something?" He leaned back into the couch and gazed at
Kelly. "Why aren't you dating someone more like yourself? I mean, I'm
pretty middle class, and you could get about anybody, right?"

"Because when I saw you at the party, I didn't want anybody else." Kelly
kicked his sandals off and put his feet up, sliding them so his toes were
touching the under side of Kyle's legs. "Why do you feel like you're a
consolation prize?"

"Uh, actually, I've never been the prize before. Last night was my first
time, you know, with anybody." Kyle's cheek's reddened. "That's why I
wanted to remember it so bad."

"Do you?" Kelly asked quietly, sliding his right foot inside of Kyle's
pant leg and using his toe to stroke what it found there.

"Most of it." Kyle grinned and slammed his knees together. "That
tickles."

"You say that like it's a bad thing." Kelly leaned forward and took Kyle's
glass, setting it on the coffee table. "Maybe I can help your memory."
Their eyes met, and Kyle couldn't look away even if he'd wanted to. "You're
to gorgeous to let go."

"I am?" Kyle mumbled, feeling Kelly's lips and tongue on his neck. Kelly
mumbled a reply, pulling Kyle's shirt up and off. Over the next several
minutes, Kelly licked and kissed his way across Kyle's chest and stomach.

"I couldn't help but notice something with my toe." He breathed into
Kyle's ear, unsnapping the button on his shorts. "Either your underwear is
sort of hairy, or you were looking forward to this as much as I was."

Kyle groaned and lifted his back away from the pillows. "I couldn't get
you out of my head all day. All I could see was your face and body." He
closed his eyes as Kelly's hand slid in to his pants. "Oh, God."

Kelly reached under and slid Kyle's pants off, revealing the obvious
reaction to their feelings. "You are magnificent." He whispered, reaching
down to give to long slow strokes. "You could've been a statue."

"Please," Kyle pleaded, "I want to see you." He leaned up and pulled
Kelly's shirt off, finding an unbelievably rock hard physique with no fat to
be found anywhere. He pushed Kelly onto his back and straddled him,
returning the attention he'd gotten himself.

Finally, having worked his way down, he untied the strings and loosened
Kelly's shorts. He looked up for a second, meeting the other's eyes, then
slid them down and off while Kelly raised his hips. "Oh." Kyle whispered,
staggered by the beauty of Kelly lying on the couch naked.

"Come to me." Kelly held out his arms and Kyle fell into them instantly.
They kissed long, touching their tongues and exploring, all the while
letting their hand roam. At some point, Kyle felt Kelly's hands on his
penis, and he was surprised to find it covered with something slick a few
seconds later.

He looked at Kelly, his eyebrows arched, and Kelly kissed the end of his
nose. "Do it." He whispered softly and licked Kyle's ear. He raised his
legs slightly, and Kyle slid between them. "Come to me." Kelly commanded
again, pulling Kyle's shoulders.

Kyle didn't even have to line up. It was perfect. As he leaned forward to
rest on Kelly's torso, he slid in with a bit of tight resistance and a sort
of pop at the end. Kelly grimaced slightly, and then relaxed as Kyle made
it in. "Perfect." He mumbled.

Kyle felt Kelly's legs on his ass, urging him to move, and he slid in and
out, slowly at first as he experimented, then more urgently in the minutes
that passed. Something built up inside him, like he'd never felt before,
and his stomach burned as he fought to contain his eruption.

Kelly groaned loudly, thrashing his head. He gasped sharply, arching his
back, and Kyle felt something warm hitting his stomach. He squeezed his
eyes shut and growled, reaching the end of his rope. He let loose, filling
Kelly with everything he had, and felt a sharp pain on his left shoulder.

He slid into the fog of his mind, glowing from their union. He could still
feel himself moving back and forth over Kelly, but at the same time he was
detached, drifting into a euphoric state. Kelly's mind was like quicksilver
around his, mentally kissing him and touching him. The embraced in their
minds, each showing their love for the other, and Kyle blissfully slid into
oblivion.

Darkness was his friend, of that he was certain, and he was not going to
give it up easily. He dreamed of flying, and of viciously tearing a little
girl apart and lapping at her blood. He ran through a forest, naked, and
fought a wolf, utterly destroying it.

As he stood over its corpse, a bright light suddenly shown down on him,
burning his eyes and skin. He screamed from the pain, cowering and trying
to get back to the darkness, but the light followed.

"Kyle!" His mother's raised voice dragged him out of the fog and into
reality. He sat bolt upright and screamed, causing his mother to scream.
His chest heaved great breaths, and he squinted into the morning light,
terrified.

"Are you okay?" She asked, sitting on his bed. Kyle looked up at her, and
then hugged her.

"I had a bad nightmare." He gasped, trying to slow his heart down. The
light hurt his eyes, and he felt shaky and nauseous.

"No kidding. From that last scream, I think the know in Georgia, now."
She pushed his bangs back, studying his face. "You have a gym meet today,
but you look like you have the flu or something, and your running a high
fever."

"I just need a shower, I'm fine." He lied.

"Well, if you don't feel up to it, I think you should stay home." She got
up and headed for the door. "By the way, if you'd have been one minute
later last night, Buster, you'd be off the beach." She waggled a finger at
him and left.

Kyle groaned and leaned over as a cramp ran through his stomach. He
gritted his teeth and fought for a breath. When it passed, he fell out of
the bed onto his hands and knees, shaking. The room spun, and he grabbed
the bed.

Something was wrong, he knew that, and for a split second, he wondered if
Kelly had given him some kind of disease. He dismissed that, realizing that
they'd only done it twice, and even a cold took a few days to show up.

Why, then, did he feel this way? Slowly, with great effort, he pulled
himself to his feet. He made to his dresser, looking in the mirror. He was
shocked. His cheeks were sunken in, and dark circles surrounded his eyes.

As he turned to go to the bathroom, he noticed a back sitting on the
dresser. A note taped to it was hand written. He squinted at it. It said
'Drink this. You'll feel better. Love, Kelly'. He pulled a bottle out of
the bag and looked at it. It said it was fruit punch, but the contents were
dark and thick. He twisted the cap off and smelled it.

It was intoxicating. He sipped it, then drank it down in gulps, feeling
himself relax and strengthen. The taste was bitter and sweet at the same
time, and it warmed his stomach.

His mind seamed to clear, and he looked in the mirror again. The dark
circles were fading, and he looked more like himself. He dropped the bottle
in the garbage and went into the bathroom, perking up with each step.

As he went to undress, he noticed that he had on a pair of black board
shorts he didn't own, and a smile came to his lips. They were Kelly's. He
slid them off and held them up, sniffing deeply, and amazed to find that he
could clearly identify Kelly's smell on them, even after sleeping in them.

The shower helped a lot, and Kyle felt wonderful as he stepped out to brush
his teeth. His reflection revealed a large bruise on his right shoulder,
and the one on his left shoulder was entirely gone. He tilted his head,
trying to get a better look, and raised his hand to the bruise.

It was tender as all hell, and he winced when he touched it. This one was
almost identical to the other, only this time he could see the bite marks
himself. He wondered if He'd bitten Kelly, a funny thought. He put it
aside and finished brushing, then did his hair.

Since it was a competition day, he didn't eat breakfast. He didn't want
anything anyway. He felt full from the juice Kelly had left for him. He
gathered his leotard and a towel into a bag and headed downstairs.

The sun coming in the windows was nearly blinding, and he put on his
sunglasses. His mother was waiting at the gym when he pulled up. "You have
your work cut out for you, Kyle. That Korean boy is first in the line up.
Isn't he your competition?"

"Was." Kyle smirked and kissed his mother. They headed inside.

"Don't get arrogant, kiddo. Just give it what you've got, okay?"

"Don't worry, Mom. It's cool." He smiled confidently at her. He felt
marvelous, like absolutely nothing could go wrong. He went into the locker
room and changed, and made his way out to the floor.

The judges signed him in, and he waited for three others to go first. The
crowd was enthusiastic, and his heart pulsed hard. When it was finally his
turn, the assistant lifted Kyle to the rings and stepped back.

For a brief second, Kyle saw Kelly sitting a couple of rows above his
mother. His confidence exploded, and his arms were rock steady as he
started his routine. It was like gravity had been suspended. Every move
was perfect, each rotation nailed. He flipped into his dismount, adding an
extra spin at the last moment, and planting his feet perfectly. He realized
as the applause began that he had just given the best performance he ever
would.

"Isn't it a bit hot for that jacket?" His mother asked as Kyle came out of
the gym an hour later. He'd found the denim jacket in his bag after he
changed, although he couldn't remember packing it.

"I got burned at the beach yesterday, and I've had a chill today." He
glanced at her and put on his sunglasses. Neither was a lie, but for some
reason it felt like one. For some reason the sun really burned on his skin.
  Even his scalp was irritated.

She treated him to ice cream, a tradition after a meet, but it tasted
nasty. While his mother went to the restroom, he dumped most of the ice
cream in the garbage. Outside, two boys caught his eye across the street.
They had their shirts off, and he rarely missed an opportunity to window
shop.

Their skin was glowing, their tans deep, just the way he liked them. One of
the boys laughed and turned towards him, and Kyle noticed his deep brown
eyes. Kyle's eyes widened, and he sat down heavily.

He didn't have his contacts in. In fact, he hadn't put them in for two
days, and he could see clearly every detail of the two boys as they walked
away. They had to be almost a hundred yards off already, and he could still
see every pore on their skin.

Kyle stifled a small squeak, putting his hands over his mouth. What was
happening to him? His heart raced, and he jumped as his mother came up
behind him. "Kyle, what's wrong?" She asked, putting her hand on his arm.
"You look like you've seen a ghost."

"I don't know." He almost cried out, and then looked around quickly.
"Mom, something isn't right." Cold sweat broke out on his forehead.

"That's it. You're seeing the doctor, right now." She stood up and led
him to the car. "I thought you had a cold or something, but you need to get
checked."

Kyle didn't resist at all, which was another reason for her to worry.
After waiting for almost two hours, most of which he spent drifting into
naps, the doctor ordered blood tests and sent him home to rest.

At three in the afternoon, Kyle fell heavily asleep. He took just enough
time to pull the curtains in his room and strip, and then fell into a
dreamless sleep. It was after nine when he woke up.

Not really feeling like getting up, he turned on the TV, scanning the
channels. Fright Night, one of his favorite movies. Chris Sarandon was one
of his favorite actors. Roddy McDowel held up a cross, and the vampire
laughed.

"You have to have faith for that to work!" The vampire said, showing his
fangs, and Kyle sat straight up in the bed and through the covers off.

"Shit!" He hissed, trying to remember everything he could about vampires.
He stumbled over the sheets to the mirror over his dresser, finding himself
staring back. He opened his mouth wide, pulling his lips back to see if he
had fangs. His canine teeth seemed longer, but it was hard to tell. He
pushed his tongue against the tip of the tooth, wincing as it broke through
the surface of his tongue.

A thought struck him, and he emptied the garbage on the floor, tossing
papers everywhere. He found the bottle Kelly had left him and sniffed it.
The aroma was sharp, and he was unprepared for the sudden craving that went
through his system.

	"Hungry?"

"Aaaaahh!" Kyle fell back as Kelly walked in through the door. "Jesus!
You scared the hell out of me!"

"So I see." Kelly surveyed the mess, then looked sidelong at Kyle. "Did
you loose something?"

Kyle swallowed hard. "Maybe you could tell me." He stood up, looked down
at his still naked form, and grabbed a pair of shorts off the floor and
pulled them on. They were Kelly's black board shorts.

"You look good in those." Kelly smiled. "Actually, you looked good out of
them, too." He sat on the end of the bed and patted the spot next to him.
"What can I tell you?"

Kyle sat down slowly, not sure what to do. "Can I ask you something?"

"What?" Kelly looked into his eyes, and Kyle felt himself relaxing a
little. Those eyes were always like calm pools, and he could loose himself
in them so easily. He looked away and shook his head.

"Stop that." Kyle said, rubbing his eyes.

"Stop what?" Kelly asked, leaning back on his elbows.

"That eye thing. Don't do that." Kyle sighed and looked at Kelly.
"What's happening to me?" He asked. His head hurt, and he could still
smell the bottle on the floor. His stomach growled.

"What do you mean?" Kelly asked, meeting Kyle's eyes again.

Kelly's indifferent attitude pissed him off, and Kyle stood up, balling up
his fists. "Don't pull that shit, Kelly. What's happening to me?" He
shouted, and then looked towards the door, hoping his mother was in the
family room.

Kelly smiled, patting the bed again. He waited for Kyle to sit down and
moved behind him to rub his shoulders. "Kyle, have you ever been so alone
that you felt like you were going insane?" He asked softly, working a
particular knot in Kyle's back. "You know, like solitary confinement, only
for years at a time?"

Kyle sighed, feeling his anger subside. Kelly's hands felt so good, and he
sagged back, listening. Kelly's voice was soothing but sad. Kyle couldn't
remember ever hearing him sound like that, not that he'd know after only two
days, but it seemed suddenly like they knew each other forever.

"Have you ever suddenly looked up and seen the perfect specimen moving
towards you, and know, at that moment, that you wanted to spend eternity
with that person?" Kelly's voice approached a whisper, and Kyle settled
into his lap. He ran his hands lightly over Kyle's muscular chest. "Did
you ever realize that there was one person that you would risk everything
for?"

"You feel like that about me?" Kyle asked, a smile tugging at the corner
of his mouth.

Kelly grinned and slapped Kyle's thigh. "Put on a shirt. I want you to
come with me." He pushed Kyle up and stood up. "Hurry. I want to make you
so happy, you'll never be the same."

"I don't know if my Mom will let me." Kyle pulled on a t-shirt.

"Your sister said she was asleep by the TV when I came in. Do you have to
ask?"

"No, I guess not." Kyle chuckled nervously, following Kelly out into the
hall. Actually, they were both asleep, and Kyle loved the thrill of
sneaking out. They giggled as they got in Kyle's car and let it roll out of
the driveway. He started it and pulled away, laughing.

The drive went fast, and Kyle found himself looking out the windshield at
the beach. Kelly jumped out and ran towards the waves, shedding clothes as
he went. Instantly, Kyle was very aroused, and he followed close behind,
tossing his shirt and shorts near the hood of the car.

"Isn't this perfect?" Kelly held out his arms. "If I could live right
here, in this moment, I'd do it forever!"

Kyle laughed and threw his arms around Kelly. "So would I."

"What if you could?" Kelly asked, looking intently into Kyle's eyes.
"What if there was a way for this to be forever?"

"I'd do it in a heartbeat." Kyle mashed his lips into Kelly's, realizing
that he was telling the truth.

	"Really?"

Kyle looked up at Kelly, their faces only inches apart, and slowly nodded
his head. It was not cold, but he shivered at Kelly's touch, feeling very
afraid, but also forming and idea of what was going to happen.

Kelly bent to kiss him, a lingering kiss this time, and goose flesh popped
out on Kyle's arms and legs. He felt the caress of Kelly's lips on his
cheeks and neck, and his eyes fluttered shut. It was like raw electricity
running through his nerves.

Kelly lifted his head away for just a moment, looking sadly at Kyle. Kyle
smiled slightly, barely masked fear on his features. Kelly touched his
cheek lightly, then lowered his head to Kyle's shoulder. For a split
second, he warred with himself, then sunk his teeth in.

No lack of memory this time. Kyle's eyes flew open as hot fire burned his
shoulder and arm. HE tried to pull away, but Kelly's hands were like stone
on his arms. As Kelly drew his blood off, Kyle tried to scream, but not
even a whimper came out. The fire traveled into his chest and down his
legs, and suddenly he knew that Kelly was holding him up.

His vision began to blur, and the pain intensified. Finally he screamed
out, but it was more of a gasp. Kelly released him and he crashed to the
sand. As his eyes failed, he looked up into the most beautiful face he'd
ever seen. Then he died.
