Subject: Ancient Wolf / The Tournament - Chapter 21

Disclaimer / Warnings: If you are reading this, it means you simply choose
to and you won't care even if you are below 18. Laws in my country forbids
`mating' by the same-sex and yet I'm writing lol. I would appreciate of
course if you do not duplicate this story elsewhere nor use it for any
commercial purpose without my consent.

It's been almost a year since I last posted in Nifty. Many of you are still
writing to me hoping that I'll at least tie up the loose ends. The fact is,
the story plot I have in mind is huge! I will let you judge for yourself
when I'm done writing. I know how it feels like when you read something you
like online but the story is incomplete. So yes, I'm duty-bound to finish
what I started.

For those who are concerned, I'm fairly healthy still. The reason for the
lapse in update was due to the passing of my grandfather. I guess I just
needed some time for my emotions to settle down.

So guys, if you still want to read my stories in Nifty..., please donate to
Nifty to keep the server running!
(http://donate.nifty.org/donate.html)....hmmm maybe I should come up with
my own donate page. Will you donate to me to spur me to complete my
writing? Lol.

Seriously, I doubt most of you will read what I write at the beginning
though. For those who do, are you guys (and gals) interested to know about
my life? We all need an outlet, to be away from the harsh reality. That's
why we read, and that's why I write...

There are many series to my stories, so from chapter 1 till the end of the
tournament, it shall be known as "The Tournment". I know the title is kinda
no brainer, but it really sums up what these chapters were about.

Really appreciated the thoughts behind each and every single lovely emails
that was written to me in the past year. These emails never failed to bring
a smile to my face. I love you all!

Lastly, names of any characters &/or places are purely fictional. Any
resemblances you find are purely coincidental.

Ancient Wolf by Julius Chan (Unedited)

Previously in Ancient Wolf: All pack members discovered their basic
abilities and trained hard towards the tournament. Andy (aka Omega) is
awakened and the world shall hear from him soon enough...

The Tournament Chapter Twenty-One

Eight weeks had passed since the beginning of the tournament and only five
teams were left. They are the Sawtooth Pack (Idaho), Chippewa Pack
(Minnesota), Maple Hill Pack (New York), Rayburn Pack (Texas), and De Soto
Pack (Mississippi). It was a breeze for us ever since our pack developed
new found abilities. The semi-final was a walkover; the guys barely even
break a sweat. I guess it's not surprising to find that these were the only
five teams who had members with special abilities. The heat and stress of
the competition sored as the finals got nearer.

The pack was at the dining table having a last minute pack meeting before
finals the next day. As usual, I was the one who cooked and I love it when
everyone appreciated my cooking. Especially so, when the man of my life
loved the food I dished up.

"Ok, listen up. Tomorrow we will be facing our first fight against weres
with special abilities." Zac stated calmly as he started the meeting.

"For some unknown reasons, we are to fight two teams in a row. Back to
back, provided we don't lose the first fight." Zac continued.

"This is bullshit!" Jerome bellowed.

"Will you guys cool it? We know the reason. It's planned this way so that
the De Soto Pack gets an unfair advantage against us. Being a `Prime' has
its benefits, you know?" Rick said those words with an obvious look of
disgust.

"Regardless, we will have to fight our way through and win this
tournament. Cid, can you go through what you've found out for the teams
that we'll be fighting?" Zac replied as a matter of fact.

I'm not sure if Zac or any of the pack realised. But Zac has changed
greatly ever since the tournament. It was for the better though, the young
man I fell in love with had grown up to be the man I love even more. There
was a quote saying that adversity is the key for maturity. As I look into
those deep ocean eyes of Zac, I could not help myself but drown myself in
love. As if he read my thoughts, he turned to me and mouthed `I love you
too.' I almost melted like butter and would continue that way, had Cid not
interrupted.

"I'm sorry to break up the love birds, but here's my report." Cid said,
coldly. But I caught him snickering as he turned to power up the on-screen
projector.

"That's the good news. As you can see, it's not difficult even if we are to
face these two teams together. But..."

"Cut the suspense, Cid. Just get on to the main point." Kasmir interrupted.

"Well, I would've if you didn't cut me off earlier." Cid shot Kasmir a
`bitch' look before he continued.

"Now, the bad news. According to the intelligence report for Sawtooth Pack
(Idaho) and Chippewa Pack (Minnesota), which I'd received last week,
Sawtooth Pack was no longer in existence. The entire pack of 65 was wiped
off from earth overnight. Not a single trace of evidence could be
found. The council only knew about it 3 days ago when they couldn't get
hold of Sawtooth's Alpha.

The report doesn't end here. It's also unsettling to know that Chippewa
Pack was a small 15-member pack which kept fairly to themselves for the
centuries. Here's the best part, from the start of the tournament till
date, only 1 member of the team showed up. We don't even have the names of
the other 6 members. Two nights ago, I tried to sneak in to check up on
Chippewa myself, but was already stopped by an ordinary wolf outside the
border of the pack area. This really freaked me out. When I said ordinary,
it means this wolf has no special ability. Tried scanning his memory but a
mental block was put in place. Either they have a very powerful mind
reader, or they have a walking prophet among them. Since my intention was
already known, I can only retreat. That's the end of my report." Cid spoke
without any facial expression. But he twitched his eyebrow when he recalled
his failed attempt. It must have been a huge blow to Cid for him to display
even the slightest irritation in public.

Everyone in the room was stunned and speechless. It was Zac who broke the
awkward silence.

"Look. It's not the end of the world. Let's focus on what we do know and
work on it. We need to strategise ourselves to maximise our chances of
winning. Babe, why don't you rest early while we continue with the meeting
in the conference room."

"Alright. I shall wait for you in the room. Don't stay up too late." I
replied with a smile.

Before Zac left for the conference room, he hugged me in his strong arms
and gave me a passionate wet kiss. "Thank you for the wonderful dinner. It
won't take too long, I promise."

"Don't worry about me. I'll just lie down in bed... Naked and ready for
your return." I said, teasingly.

"Arrr... Oh I see. A carrot for the horse ya. Definitely looking forward to
claiming my reward later." Zac gave out a low growl beside my ear, which
made my dick jumped immediately.

The closing of the conference door snapped me out of the spell which Zac
had managed to cast over me. He always has this effect on me, always so
mesmerising. Not that I could be of any help by being present. In fact, I
had a feeling my presence would pose certain distraction. After all, I was
the reason they were in the tournament in the first place.

I put on a silky robe after the shower even though I told Zac I would be
naked. Nothing beats the excitement of unwrapping a present. What more
could I ask for when I have someone like Zac who loves and desires me so
much.

The moon shone brightly into the room through the balcony window. Which got
me thinking, it had been a while since mother spoke to me or gave any of us
further advices. Clearing my thoughts as I closed my eyes, I tried to reach
out to my mother.

"That's weird." I thought. I could feel her but it was all too silent. I
tried to probe with my mind but another voice came to me instead.

"Torin... Or should I call you Justin now?" the voice spoke, in a soothing
way.

"Who are you? And what have you done to my mother?" I replied.

"Don't worry my love. There's nothing much I can do to Queen Phoebe
anyway. I had merely sealed off the connection between her and this
world. That's to make sure that the tournament is proceeded on fair
grounds. Don't you think it's unfair advantage of the Maple Hill Pack to
have access to you and Queen Phoebe's knowledge? I know you are just as
anxious as I am. For we have waited far too long to be reunited. And this
time, I will not fail! Wahahahahaha..." the voice trailed off with a
haunting laughter.

For some unknown reasons, tears welled up against my will and began to
slide off my cheek.

"Oh my god! What happen?" Zac rushed to my side, cupping my face in his
hands.

"Huh?" I answered.

"You're crying! Tell me baby, what happened?" Zac asked, worriedly.

Like recovering from a state of shock, I tried to remember and recounted
the series of events that happened before Zac entered the room.

By then, all guardians were by my side. Cid was trying to do an area scan;
Jerome was checking out the balcony; Shamir and Kasmir shifted and scouted
the woods for intruders. Everyone was doing their part to ensure that the
perimeter was safe.

"But it still doesn't explain why you're crying." Zac shook his head, not
able to grasp the reason for my tears. I guess it was kind of sweet to know
that his main concern was how I felt rather than if there were any
intruders.

"I cannot explain it myself. Not in words, at least. It felt like a chest,
hidden and locked away in the deepest recess of my mind, was
unlocked. Hmmm... If you must place a tag to it, it's like an emotion
tsunami." I explained. "Well, this explains it. The person who spoke to
you must've been Omega. The connection triggered a response in your memory
linked to your past lives. You must have tried to erase those memories
previously. Else you could've seen your past lives replayed in your
mind. And sometimes, even when memories are erased, emotions
remained. Usually those strong emotions are related to extreme
sadness. Humans and Weres alike, tend to remember the unhappy events in
life rather than the happy ones. I've checked and there's nothing wrong
with Jus physically or mentally. Let's take our leave so that Jus can
settle down and rest." Cid analysed, after performing a mental scan on me.

Zac did not say much. He simply held me in arms and we went to sleep that
night spooning, relishing in the comfort of our body heat.

Andy's POV:

It was never a pleasant trip nor amusing to be the Lich King. A Lich King
is a difficult concept to grasp, since most people would have expected the
most powerful witch to be a female. Unlike a normal witch who leave the
transmutation of soul to chance, I took a very calculated and specific way
of rebirth. I feast on human souls and take control of their bodies like
puppets. And when I find a suitable host, the `puppet' will impregnate the
female thus sending my life force into her. The down-side of this would be
me being vulnerable for twenty-one years. (Why twenty-one years? Don't you
see seven multiply by three equals twenty-one? Three and Seven are the
mystic numbers and they are the keys. If I explain in detail, it will take
you a millennium to be able to grasp it. So let's just continue.)

I never go to a war unprepared. Before I was reborn, I had sent my
followers ahead of me. These followers were handpicked by me and they had
served me for many centuries. What can be more alluring than ever-lasting
life? However, it took me slightly more effort this time round. For I had
sent my followers into a pack of wolves. Ha! Those fools never see it
coming. They would be so surprised.

"My Lord. We humbly welcome your return." Liz bowed her head and did a
curtsy.

I moved to the back of the room, took my seat on a huge armchair with
beautiful serpent carvings and cushions wrapped in blood red velvet. Three
males sat to my right, and three females to my left. Liz was the nearest to
me. Next to her, Samantha. Thereafter, Julianne.

"Is everything proceeding as planned?" I asked.

"Yes, my Lord. Soon, the tournament will take place and we will be there to
claim the prize." Ash replied. Ash was seated to my immediate right,
followed by Bastian and Igor.

All of my followers had a bony outlook. It may have been a side effect of
the spell but they seemed happy about how they look.

"I only want Ash to be there before the finals. Samantha, you back him up
by cloaking and update me on the outcome. Once the final listing is out,
eliminate the pack that's against us. I'm sick of offering any
alternatives. Bastian and Igor, just go ahead and clean up that pack. Liz,
stay in the pack compound of Maple Hill. I'll need you to be there as my
`relay' station. Julianne, make sure the pack compound is secured at all
times. I'm expecting visitors especially when a pack gets wiped
out. Vampires can be such a pesky tribe. That's all for now. You'll know
when you're needed. I need to rest." All these were said in a concise, but
slow and unconcerned tone. With a wave of hand, the group disbanded and I
retired to my dungeon beneath the cabin.

There's only one thing in my mind... "Torin."

--------- End of Chapter ----------

Writer's note: I know this chapter is pretty short, given the fact that
this is my first posting after so many months. It took me a couple of hours
before I can even start to write though. For I've to re-read the past 20
chapters to make sure that what I write in future is coherent. It's a good
thing though, there was a character who was `trashed' away without me
realising. Can anyone guess who that person is? First to respond gets to
spend a night with me... nah, just kidding. lol

Requests and suggestions are welcome. I may not accede to all, but I will
definitely reply. My timezone is GMT+8. So write to me... I'm waiting. lol.

Till then. Cheers.
