			Angel in black, Chapter 11
			      Faded Memories

Alex could hear the thoughts of everyone in the van; Jackson had no idea
who Marcos really was, but he did know the Jameson family. He had been
ordered to kill them when Matthew's father threatened to go to the Shadow
Council and expose those on the Thylacine Council for the vicious killers
they really were. Alex saw the countless murders Jackson was involved with
before and after he became a councillor, and the affect they had on his
sanity.

'Matthew, there are eight total, two thylacines one of them being
Jackson, two humans and four vampires. Be carful,' Alex thought, sending
Matthew a warning.

'Thank you, Alex. I love you,' Matthew replied.

"Right, it's eight on five; take whoever you want. I'm sure Jackson will
come straight for me, so don't get in his way," Matthew said to his friends
and family. "Now I'm going to meet our guests," he added, then walked into
the house.

---

"You two go in first," Jackson ordered, and the two large, well muscled
men charged the door, breaking it off its hinges.

Matthew stood in his full length coat, without his hat, at the opposite
end of the hallway, waiting. "What's wrong Jackson? AFRAID to come in here
YOURSELF?" Matthew yelled, taunting.

Quickly getting angry, Jackson yelled, "Don't just stand there, morons,
GET HIM!"

"Boss, there's no one here!" both men called back.

"You lot," Jackson said, pointing to the vampires. "Get in there, and
BRING ME MARCOS!" he demanded.

They ran into the house with their swords drawn, pushing their two human
comrades aside. They had seen Marcos stepping out the back door and
followed after him, only to find what appeared to be a vampire, two humans
and a wizard instead.

"Hello boys!" Calvin said as he and Tommy charged two of the vampires,
Bill and Tyson taking the other two.

Jackson heard the sounds of metal striking metal, and a few screams. He
called out, "What the HELL is going on?" but no one answered him. "GET IN
THERE!" he screamed at the last of his team still with him.

As the man ran to the front door, he started transforming into the
massive form of the were-thylacine; then he disappeared into the house.

The ground shook slightly as a loud explosion sounded from inside the
house, breaking several windows. Everyone in the back yard stopped and
looked at the house and Calvin said, "Surprise!" with a chuckle, before
returning to attacking the vampire in front of him.

Jackson couldn't believe it; his men were apparently being taken apart by
one vampire. He cautiously walked up to the house holding a shotgun in one
hand and a silver-bladed combat knife in the other. As he stepped into the
hallway, he was met by the sight of his aide, headless with quite a large
part of his upper torso missing. "Damn, that's a mess," he said at the
state of the blood-covered wall behind the dead man.

"Hello Jackson, nice to finally meet you," Matthew said, smiling evilly
and aiming his pistol at Jackson's head.

---

Calvin and the vampire he was fighting were going blow for blow. Calvin
charged and struck with his katana, hitting the blade of his opponent. "Not
bad," Calvin said as he dodged a punch intended for his jaw.

Tommy was treating his fight too much like his sparing sessions with
Matthew and Calvin; he was playing with the vampire, easily brushing off
his attacks and dodging blows. 'Tommy this isn't a game!' Calvin thought to
Tommy, causing the boy to stop and look at Calvin while still dodging
attacks from his opponent.

Seeing Tommy watching, Calvin yelled out, "DON'T WATCH ME, ATTACK HIM!"
Calvin's opponent took that moment of distraction to strike. Aiming for
Calvin's neck, his blade met its mark, and Calvin screamed and dropped to
the ground, losing a lot of blood from the wound.

Tommy roared, "NOOOOO!" launching himself at Calvin's attacker. The
vampire blocked with his sword, but Tommy moved so fast and had so much
force behind his strike that his blade sliced through not only the
vampire's sword but the top half of his body as well, and he fell to the
ground lifeless. "Calvin, I'm sorry, please be alright, please?" Tommy
pleaded as he knelt down beside Calvin.

Holding a hand over the wound on his neck, Calvin managed a pained grin
for Tommy and said, "I'll be alright Tommy, it's not that bad."

"Are you sure? I'm sorry; it's my fault he cut you," Tommy cried.

  "I'll be FINE!" Calvin insisted.

Tommy couldn't understand why, but he felt he couldn't loose Calvin; he
felt that he needed him and needed to protect him. Just then Tommy noticed
that the vampire he had been fighting when Calvin went down had recovered
from seeing his accomplice sliced in two and was trying to sneak up on
him. Tommy turned and charged, growling at the vampire, "Play-time's over!"

"Remember the last time we did this Bill?" Tyson asked as he charged one
of the vampires.

"I think it was a nest of crypto-vamps just outside of Brisbane," Bill
replied, throwing a small fireball at the vampire charging him.

"Yeah, real nasty buggers they were," Tyson said, dodging the blade of
his opponent. "Remember those two that tried to sneak up on us?" Tyson
added as his blade met the blade of the vampire.

"Oh, you mean those two that we ahh," Bill replied, grinning, forcing his
attacker back with a kick to the chest.

Also pushing his attacker back Tyson replied. "Yeah, those
two.... Ready?" he asked with a smirk.

"Oh yeah!" Bill smiled. Then they both jumped back, mirroring each
others' move. Standing side-by-side, they each conjured up a decent sized
fireball and threw them at their opponents.

Both vampires tried to jump out of the way of the fireballs, but as soon
as they moved they were caught by a sword each. Both fireballs made contact
injuring the vampires slightly. "Still works, Wild!" Tyson said.

"Yeah, we're not finished yet, Ty!" Bill replied Again moving in unison,
they both quickly attacked their opponents, confusing them. "Remember that
finishing move against the two rogue vampires in Adelaide?" Bill asked as
he again moved next to Tyson.

"Nice idea, Wild! Still remember the moves?" Tyson asked, grinning at the
question from Bill.

"Wouldn't suggest it otherwise," Bill replied as he circled away from
Tyson, keeping the vampires back-to-back. When Tyson could see Bill over
the vampires' shoulders, he signalled him with a nod. Again they conjured
what appeared to be fireballs. These however were different; they were much
smaller but a lot more focused, and instead of being thrown as fireballs,
they fired a short, continuous burst of flame at the vampires, surprising
them both.

While the twin beams of fire were still blazing towards the pair of
vampires, Bill and Tyson charged at them with swords ready to
strike. Moving together, they aimed for the vampires' necks, looking to
remove their heads from their bodies. The tip of Bill's sword met the tip
of Tyson's briefly as they spun around, the headless pair of vampires
dropping to the ground.

Walking towards each other they exclaimed "Perfect!" in unison then
laughed. Bill then noticed Calvin lying on the ground with his hand at his
neck. "Ty, help Calvin!" he said, looking for Tommy and finding him staring
down the last vampire.

"You chose the wrong side, vampire!" Tommy said, charging the last
opponent; brushing aside the vampire's sword with his katana, he punched
the man as hard as he could in the centre of his chest. A resounding crack
could be heard across the yard as the vampire collapsed to the
ground. Tommy ran back to Calvin's side, falling to his knees beside him.

Tyson was using his power to help Calvin heal; as he wasn't trained in
advanced healing, it was slow and slightly painful for Calvin. "Stop moving
damn you! It will only take longer for me to heal you," Tyson said getting
slightly annoyed.

"I'm FINE! Just get off me wizard!" Calvin laughed.

Tyson huffed, moving back he mumbled, "Bloody vampires."

Calvin smirked at him and then turned to a teary eyed Tommy; placing his
free hand on Tommy's leg, he softly said, "First rule in a serious fight,
never play with your opponent," as he gently stroked Tommy's thigh
soothingly. "Second rule, always comfort your injured partner," he added,
staring into Tommy's sliver blue eyes.

Tommy leaned down to see Calvin's wound as it slowly mended. Unable to
speak, Tommy felt guilty for allowing Calvin to be injured. But when Tyson
placed a hand on Tommy's back to say, "He will be fine; it wasn't too deep
a cut, Calvin is a tough guy," Tommy started growling at him.

  "Tommy?" Bill asked, startled.

"He's mine, stay away from him!" Tommy growled protectively as he turned
glaring at Tyson, completely ignoring his dad.

The two men took a step back upon seeing the look on Tommy's face. His
pointed canines had extended slightly, and he looked like he was ready to
kill Tyson. "Tommy, calm down, Tyson isn't going to hurt me," Calvin said,
trying to reassure Tommy.

"He wants you! I can smell the attraction he has for you," Tommy said in
a low growling tone as he stood by Calvin's side.

"Yes, I am attracted to him, but I don't want him... He's not my type,"
Tyson said truthfully, attempting to diffuse the volatile situation. Tyson
saw as well as anyone what Tommy could do when he was trying to protect
Calvin, and it terrified him.

Grabbing Tommy's ankle, Calvin said, "See Tommy, he doesn't want me, and
I don't want him either... I want you Tommy; I want to be with you."

Tommy stopped and returned to kneeling next to Calvin, still glaring at
Tyson. "I still don't like him, Calvin," Tommy whispered into Calvin's ear,
calming slightly.

"What was all that about, Wild?" Tyson asked Bill.

"I honestly don't know, Ty; I've never seen Tommy do anything like that
before," Bill said, just as confused by what he had just seen as Tyson.

"I can answer that," James said as he came around the corner of the
house.

---

"MARCOS!" Jackson yelled, lifting his shotgun towards the vampire. "I've
been after for you for a long time! You're going to PAY for killing my
brother!" he roared, taking his shot at Matthew with the shotgun.

"I'm sorry Jackson, but YOU won't be able to defeat me!" Matthew said,
not even flinching when the shot from Jackson's shotgun passed right
through him.

Jackson fired a few more times, but still couldn't hit Matthew, despite
firing right at him. "What the HELL is going on?" he screamed in
frustration.

"You don't even know who I am, do you Jackson?" Matthew asked.

"You are Marcos, the ex head of intelligence and security for Consul
Larson, who was ordered to gather information on mine and the Thylacine
Council's private matters. You infiltrated our inner circle to attack us
and steal our secrets... Then you killed my brother!" Jackson said.

Matthew looked at Jackson with a cold, bone chilling stare then grinned,
letting his fangs show. "I really have to correct you Jackson! Marcos died
when you murdered him and his family ninety years ago; I wasn't home when
you killed my family," Matthew said, glaring at Jackson.

Remembering all those decades ago was a hard task for the insane old
were-thylacine, his memory having been so twisted by anger and thoughts of
revenge for so many years. "Having a hard time remembering there, old man?
Maybe this will help," Matthew said.

That was Alex's signal to start his assault on Jackson's memories. He
forced his way into Jackson's mind, searching for the right
memories. Speaking aloud he cried, "So many atrocities in this man's past!
He's ruthless!"

"It's alright, dear. I know you can do this; Matthew believes you can do
this. Just give it your best try," Marie said, putting her hands on Alex's
shoulders, massaging them softly.

Matthew watched as the look on Jackson's face went from pain to confusion
to anger then halted at sorrow. 'Bingo! Good job Alex,' Matthew thought as
Jackson started crying uncontrollably.

Jackson saw the memories from when he was a young man flood before his
eyes, all the death and destruction. "How a..are you doing t..this?"
Jackson sobbed as the memory of the day he murdered the Jameson family
replayed over in his mind, a little of the emotional overflow from Matthew
added to it.

"How does it feel to relive the worst day of MY life, you lowlife MUTT?"
Matthew screamed.

---

"Sir!" Tyson said, standing at attention.

"James, good to see you again," Bill said, nodding his head in greeting.

"Consul, you received my message?" Calvin asked.

"That I did Calvin," James said as he looked around at the bodies in the
yard. "This is quite a mess guys," he said, taking his cell out of his
pocket and dialling a number. "I need a clean up crew... yes my current
location, bye," James said then hung up.

"James, you said you could explain what just happened with Tommy?" Bill
asked.

"I did... Well, it's the werewolf part of him. Seems Tommy feels he needs
to protect Calvin. It could have just been Tommy feeling guilty for Calvin
getting injured, or it could be a mating instinct... Personally I think
that's it; Calvin is his mate," James explained, earning shocked
expression's from everyone but Tommy. "You can feel it, can't you, Tommy?"
James asked.

Tommy stared at James for a moment, thinking about what the man said then
looked back to Calvin; he could feel it. "Yes sir," Tommy said nodding.

Bill thought a moment; he already knew that Calvin and Tommy were
starting to become close. "Is this going to be a problem... I mean, they
are good together, but what if it doesn't work out?" he asked.

"If that ever happens, I think it's going to be on Tommy's terms, but I
don't think that will be a problem. I can feel their emotions. Besides the
more animalistic nature of Tommy's they feel the same way towards each
other," James said as he watched Tommy gently lift Calvin off the ground,
cradling him in his arms.

Calvin, still covering the wound on his neck, put his free arm around
Tommy's back, gently leaning his head on Tommy's shoulder. Tommy just
smiled as he held his mate.

"What do you say we all go inside?" James asked, walking to the back
door.

---

"You can do it Alex, you're doing fine," Marie said soothingly to Alex,
who was actually starting to work up a sweat.

"He's... fighting me, I can't... keep this up!" Alex said, sounding
exhausted.

"Its ok sweetie, just do what you can," Marie said.

Matthew could see that Jackson was fighting against Alex's invasion of
his thoughts; he knew Alex wouldn't be able to fight much longer. "Now you
know how it feels to lose your whole life in one afternoon!" Matthew said,
adding a little of his own mental control to try and support Alex.

"I can't fight him, he's too strong. I...need to feed," Alex said falling
to his knees.

Marie looked at her son. Alex looked pale, more so then when he woke
up. "How much do you need dear?" She asked.

"Mum, NO! I can't..." Alex started but Marie cut him off.

"You can! Matthew needs you... We all need you! Now... how much?" she
asked.

Seeing the deadly serious look Marie was giving him, Alex knew she
wouldn't let him say no again. "Not much," Alex said softly as Marie
offered him her wrist.

"I trust you sweetie," Marie said as Alex gently bit into her wrist; she
was expecting pain but felt nothing.

Alex had to remind himself who it was that he was feeding on, as well as
borrowing a few of Matthew's memories of feeding to help him control
himself. Alex drank deeply once then quickly pulled away, using a simple
spell he found in Matthew's memories to mend his mothers wound. "Thanks
mum," Alex said.

"GET OUT OF MY FUCKING HEAD!" Jackson roared.

Matthew staggered back a step as the emotional connection between himself
and Jackson was broken; he hoped Alex was alright.

"I'm going to kill you and everyone here VAMPIRE!" Jackson said in a
gruff voice, throwing his shotgun to the ground. Bringing his combat knife
up to chest height, he readied himself to charge Matthew, who had been
standing across the room the whole time, combining his and Alex's mental
abilities to fool all of their attackers into thinking he was somewhere
else in the room.

"I seriously doubt that MUTT!" Matthew said as he took out his sword.

Jackson stormed at Matthew, swinging his massive knife wildly. Matthew
was fast enough to evade Jackson's wild attacks easily; it was the strength
behind the attacks that was the issue. Jackson was 7 foot tall and built
like a house; he could easily knock Matthew through a wall if he made
contact.

Matthew jumped up in front of Jackson after dodging a punch, then he
kicked Jackson with both feet in the centre of his massive chest, pushing
him back a few steps. "You want to know what the last words your brother
said were, Jackson?" Matthew asked the enraged were-thylacine. "He asked me
not to tell you how he cried as he begged me to end his life," Matthew
added, not waiting for Jackson to respond.

"YOU LIE! My brother would never beg for anything, let alone death by a
DAMN VAMPIRE!" Jackson yelled, readying himself to attack.

"Oh he did, and I gladly obliged him, removing that ugly head from his
abhorrent body!" Matthew taunted, purposely pissing Jackson off.

Jackson was angry, far beyond rage, and ready to tear apart anyone he
saw. Just at that moment, Consul James and the other men came inside from
the back yard, unprepared for the mad brute ready to charge. "NO, GO BACK!"
Matthew screamed just as Jackson charged the group.

Alex walked out of the bedroom as Jackson was about to slam into the
group coming in the back door; he was still looking pale and weak and was
dressed in only a pair of shorts. "STOP!" he yelled both aloud and
mentally, and Jackson froze, almost falling on his face. "This is
finished!" Alex said as he stared Jackson in the eye.

Jackson couldn't understand what was happening. He just heard someone
yell 'STOP!' and he did, totally against his will. 'Why the hell can't I
move?' he thought.

'That would be my fault, Jackson,' Alex thought as he raised his hand at
Jackson, lifting him about a foot off the ground then slamming him into the
wall near the front door. Jackson left a large dent in the wall as he fell
to the floor in a heap.

"Well that certainly was a show of force," James said as he took out his
cell and sent a message to Leon, telling him it was clear to enter the
house.

"Everyone alright?" Alex asked, to which they all responded yes.

"You can put me down now, Tommy," Calvin chuckled, his wound almost
healed.

"What happened to you Cal? I leave you alone for a few minutes and you
nearly lose your head," Matthew said upon seeing the already fading scar.

Calvin thought about telling Matthew the truth, that Tommy was the
reason, but he couldn't do that. Tommy already felt guilty enough without
his cousin lecturing him. "This?" he asked turning to show his scar, "It's
nothing, just a scratch!"

"Well, he must have been good to get that close, Cal," Matthew said, not
believing a word Calvin said.

"OH MY GOD!" Marie exclaimed as she exited the bedroom and saw the
destruction in the hallway.

"Don't worry, there's a clean up crew on the way, and they'll have this
all fixed up in no time," James said to Marie.

Leon walked in the front door and saw the mess, then he saw Jackson
heaped on the floor. Taking a few steps closer, he knelt down to check if
the thylacine councillor was still alive. Jackson jumped up, grabbing
Leon, holding him as a shield with his knife at the young vampire's
throat. "Help me!" Leon called out.

"Why don't they ever stay down?" Tyson asked, preparing to attack.

"That's a good question, Ty. You want to go ask him?" Bill said, grinning
at his old friend.

"ARE YOU NUTS? Have you seen the size of that guy?" Tyson said, giving
Bill a murderous look for suggesting that he ask.

"What? We've taken on bigger before!" Bill laughed.

Before Tyson could even answer Bill again Alex spoke, "NO! No one else is
going to get hurt because that man can't let go... No, I said this was
finished and I meant it!"

They all watched as Alex casually walked the short distance down the hall
to stand almost face to face with Jackson, Leon begging for help. "Alex
don't! You're not strong enough!" Matthew said, staring on in horror as
Alex stopped just out of arm's reach of Jackson.

"Please, help me," Leon again begged.

"Shut up, TRAITOR!" Alex screamed as he waved his arm at Leon, who flew
out of Jackson's grasp and through the wall. "As for you..." Alex started
but was cut off by Jackson swinging his knife at his head.

"There's NO WAY you are going to kill me, BOY!" Jackson roared, swinging
his blade at Alex again.

Just as Jackson's blade was about to make contact with Alex's neck,
Tommy's Katana flew to a stop beside Alex blocking the fatal blow. "Who
EVER said anything about killing you?" Alex asked, giving Jackson the most
evil smirk he could muster, letting his fangs show.

Jackson was now scared; for the first time he didn't know what to
do. This vampire was able to mess with his mind and there wasn't anything
he could do to stop it. He thought about lying to the kid to try and get
away. 'I wouldn't recommend it, Jackson,' Alex said in Jackson's mind.

"DAMN YOU!" Jackson roared in Alex's face, moving to attack him again,
but as he spun around, hoping to use his strength to at least knock the kid
to the ground, Alex disappeared.

Alex could see what Jackson was going to do before he did it, and smiled
at himself. Jackson obviously wasn't too smart in dealing with telepaths,
but he also thought he was well trained in blocking telepathy. When Jackson
moved to spin around and attack him, Alex moved with him staying at his
back. "You know, for a leader your not too bright!" Alex said as he jumped
up on to Jackson's back, wrapping his legs around the man's waist.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING? GET THE FUCK OFF ME!" Jackson yelled, trying to
reach Alex but failing.

Alex had a dirty thought while he was latched on to Jackson. "If you
weren't trying to kill my boyfriend, this could actually be kinda fun!" he
said giggling. "Now HOLD STILL!" Alex commanded as he put his hands on
either side of Jackson's head.

  Jackson continued to struggle as Alex stripped away his memories;
starting with the most recent, he worked back through Jackson's memories of
being a Thylacine Councillor and back to when he was nothing more than a
hired gun. When Alex reached Jackson's training years he noticed a change
in the man's memories, it felt odd to Alex; like someone else was in there
with Jackson through the training, whispering constantly about his brother
Sirus. Alex quickly realised that it wasn't about Jackson's brother; it was
about someone being his brother, after realising that, Alex looked a little
further back and found an interesting memory that Jackson had repressed
many years before his training. "No..." Jackson cried, suddenly grief
stricken as Alex brought the long forgotten memory to the surface.

Alex had thought that Jackson was pure evil, that there was nothing
redeeming about him, but here was something. Alex stopped assaulting
Jackson's memory, leaving him with the pleasant memories of his early life,
but nothing of the evils of his later career. Releasing his grip on
Jackson's waist, Alex slid off his back as Jackson crumbled to the ground,
crying uncontrollably once again.

Walking away from Jackson, Alex said, "He's not going to be a problem
anymore," then he collapsed into Matthew's arms, exhausted.

"What did you do to him?" Matthew asked Alex as James walked over to
Jackson, who was sobbing on the floor.

"I helped him," Alex said, barely able to speak.

  James cautiously approached the sobbing hulk in the middle of the floor;
putting a hand under the man's chin, he brought the face up so he could see
Jackson's eyes. "There's nothing there... The bulk of his memory is
gone. It's like he never was the monster we saw only a few moments ago!"
James said, awed.

Jackson gently grabbed James' arm as he stood. Speaking softly, Jackson
asked, "Please, can you tell me what's going on? The last thing I remember
was..." he trailed off, not wanting to tell anyone what happened.

'It's alright Jackson, you can tell these people,' said Alex's sweet
voice in his head.

"What was the last thing you remember?" James asked.

Jackson looked at the group before him; they all seemed to be genuinely
concerned about something. He wondered if it was him. "My son... We were
playing in the woods near our home, and this massive creature came out of
nowhere and attacked us. It killed my boy," Jackson cried as he leaned into
James.

'It was Sirus, the creature; he was the one that turned Jackson into a
were-thylacine and killed his son. Jackson suppressed the memory as he
couldn't harm his creator and eventually he forgot all about it, I found
that during Jackson's training, Sirus made him think he was his brother,'
Alex thought to the group, explaining what was going on. Continuing, Alex
thought, 'I took all of the memories after that from him; he only remembers
his life before that, losing his son and being turned. He doesn't know
anything of the Council, the killings or you Matthew.'

'What did you do with his memories?' James asked.

'I have them all,' Alex replied.

'No! Get rid of them! You can't carry all of that filth in your mind; it
will destroy you!' Matthew thought, feeling somewhat hurt that the memory
of the murder of his family was now in his boyfriends mind.

'You can't just get rid of memories, Matthew, they need to go
somewhere. Even people who have amnesia still have their memories, they
just aren't able to read them,' Alex thought.

"He's right, Alex; this man had seen too much death and destruction. No
one so innocent should have to carry such a burden. Give them to me," James
said, kneeling down in front of Alex and Matthew.

  "But, sir," Matthew said softly.

"I have seen more than my fair share of death, Matthew. Another
lifetime's worth won't kill me," James said, cutting Matthew off.

'Sir, I'm too weak right now,' Alex started but James stopped him.

"It's a good thing we have a couple volunteers then," James said, looking
at the two paralysed men lying on the living room floor. "Matthew, you help
Alex feed, while I sort out Jackson," James said.

Lifting Alex off the ground and helping him walk into the living room,
Matthew sat him down and brought one of the men over so Alex could
feed. 'Remember, you don't need to drain him,' Matthew thought, not knowing
Alex had already fed a little.

Alex scanned the man's mind finding it surprisingly bare, a few memories
of him following his orders from the old Jackson, most of which Alex knew
were actually lies thanks to Jackson's memories. Alex stood on very shaky
legs as Matthew held the man steady for him. Alex's fangs were still out
from when he was on Jackson's back; he was too weak to consciously retract
them. Alex gently bit into the man's neck, drawing a big mouthful of tangy
blood down his throat, allowing himself to get lost in the warm feeling. He
could feel his energy returning to him with every mouthful. 'Alex, you need
to stop now, or you will kill him!' Matthew thought, trying to reach Alex.

Alex pulled himself back, pushing off of the man in front of him. "Wow, I
feel so refreshed. I didn't feel like this after mum gave me some of her
blood," Alex said, not thinking, as Matthew mended the man's wound and sat
him back down next to his partner.

"What?" Matthew asked surprised. "Marie offered you her blood, when?"

"When I was trying to fight Jackson before from the bedroom, I only took
a mouthful. It was just enough to help," Alex said, feeling a little
ashamed.

"Don't be ashamed Alex. I'm impressed that you were able to control
yourself; I'm even more impressed that she offered," Matthew said.

---

"Jackson, what happened to you was a tragedy, but you lived through
it. The man who killed your boy turned you into a were-thylacine and
somehow made you believe he was your brother. He has since been killed. You
have been on the Thylacine Council for over seventy years, and until today
have been hunting my boy Matthew. His partner saved you from a lifetime in
prison or death. He is currently carrying all of your memories from after
you were turned," James explained to Jackson.

"Why was I hunting your boy? Did he do something to me?" Jackson asked.

"You were hunting him for a couple of reasons. First, he was gathering
information on the Thylacine Council for me, as they are corrupt murders;
he found that info but couldn't get it to me. And second, he killed the man
pretending to be your brother. But it was actually you who did something to
him!" James said.

"OH GOD! What did I do?" Jackson cried, burying his head in his hands.

Walking out of the living room with a refreshed Alex, Matthew said, "You
murdered my family when I was a young man."

"No... I could never do that... It can't be true, it just can't!" Jackson
cried in disbelief.

Alex led James out into the living room just as everyone else left the
room to give Matthew some time with Jackson. 'Tyson, can you go and get
Leon before he gets away?' Alex thought to Tyson.

"You must want me dead," Jackson said weeping.

"For a long time I did, but I recently realised I needed to let go of the
past. I can't change what happened anymore then you can and revenge would
only make me feel better for a short time, but maybe I can stop it from
happening again. I can forgive you Jackson. At the time you were following
orders from your Council, just as I was when I killed Sirus," Matthew said.

"How do I even begin to forgive myself for things I can't remember
doing?" Jackson asked.

"You don't; you have been given a chance to start over. Don't waste it!
Work at being the best man you can. You, as Jackson, have a reputation of
being a ruthless killer: believe me I've seen it first hand! You need to
get away from that. Help us, stay here with us," Matthew said.

"Are you sure? I don't want to be a burden to anyone," Jackson said.

"I think from now on your going to be a good friend... Jack," Matthew
said, smiling at the man.
