First Chapter- The Ceremony

*Chapter One-The Ceremony*

-Uri, come on, wake up, URIEL- My best friend Grace was trying to wake me up-
We are gonna be late for the graduation-

-Umhh- I managed to reply before sitting on the bed and then motion to the
bathroom to get ready

-AS from today on we will began working, we may go down too- she said very
excited, I came out of the bath and go to my closet,

-What do I wear today?- I asked ironically, all I have was my uniforms, black
for training and work, grey for normal days and everything else and white for
special occasions, I looked at Grace with his blue uniform, sky blue, like my
eyes, her beautiful red hair was on a very tight braid- I envy your uniforms
you know that right- I always knew she was superior but I didn't mind, I put
on my white suit and cloak, as we are on the colds months, I love cold, is so
beautiful.

We came down and my parents are not in here so they already were at the dome,
the walk to the dome was short, because all houses surrounded the central
plaza, where the Dome, and the palace were, when we arrived at the
people's plaza I could see the crystal palace standing, with its Gold walls
surrounding it. and in the other side the crystal dome, We came in and
took seat in our assigned places, Grace was far away from me, I looked
around looking for my parents and I manage to find them and my little
brother (No so little, he was a year younger than me). Suddenly all the noise
on the Dome disappear and everybody seat quietly as our masters came up the
stage, one from each group, the first of all is the master of our group,
Michael, he was as always dressed in his white and silver suit and his sword
hanging from its hip, his wings were extended.

You may be asking what are we, well, we are angels, or at least I am, we all
lived on the Paradise, yes it may seemed a weird name but it is. My family
is not my family, the just are assigned to take care of me until today, well
not just today, I will keep living with them until I find my family, the good
thing is that they choose me, we all here have the right to choose our
partners and sons. We are not immortals; I know that, my Grandfather died last
summer, he just died of old. we angels are the only ones that die? No, Grace
my friend is a virtue, they also die.

The master of the angels is Michael, the archangel, yes that one himself, he
is also the master of the archangels, but archangels being immortals and that
there is no need to create any more of them.
after him comes the master of the Principalities, or rulers, they control
nature and human's big groups, dressed in Green with that we close the third
sphere, the lowest of all.

Then comes the Authorities's master, also called Powers, they control the laws
of physics and the balance of the cosmos, their most important job is as law
controllers, I know one of them, they are a pain in the ass with their rules
and laws. Dressed in Navy blue. They are also not immortals.

After that came the Virtue's master, dressed in sky blue as Grace,
. They control all good things in the world, miracles and good events.
They bring grace and courage to humans, along with any virtue you can think
of.

Then it comes the Dominion's. They are our full controllers, they control
every not immortal group. our president is one of those. They receive orders
from above. They are dressed in Gold. They are very few. with them the second
sphere is closed.

We all stand to receive the Masters of the first sphere. The Thrones
(the ones who holds the throne of our creator and I tell you, No God, No Ala,
No any god of the humans whatsoever), The Cherubim, the guardians of the
creator, and then the great and perfect Seraphims, they are so perfect that
we can't see their faces, they cover it with a pair of wings (they have three
of them) and other pair is covering his private parts and feet, as with the
third pair they fly, as they never touch the ground.

After all the respects are shown we seat again. and then the ceremony begins.
Every master tell a few word, then they give us our plaques and bracelets
(our identifications) and give is our wings, because no underage is allowed to
have wings. we have them but we couldn't use them apart from training. I
was expecting my white bracelet but it never appeared, in his place appeared
a silver one, odd. I looked at the stag and Michael is looking at me with
tears in his eyes.

-I have an announcement to make, 18 years ago one of my brother's died in a
fight with Satan's forces, his name was Uriel- Oh Shit- And the almighty
managed to create a replace for him. People of paradise, may I present to
you the new Archangel, Uriel- he added pointing in my direction, everybody
look at me and I could see the other five Archangels in the stage as well:
Gabriel, Raphaella (Yes is a woman), Raguel, Zerachiel and Remiel- Come Uriel,
come join us, your brothers- I do as he say and in less than a minute I am
on front of them- Your name means the light of God, your light can drive
away darkness and evilness- He said and then out of nowhere he handed me
a sword and a bow and arrow- This are your belongings brother- then he spook
to the crowd- Unfold your wings, brother- I did as he tell me and a pair of
beautiful big white wings appeared. bigger than the last time I unfold them,
way bigger. The entire crow stand of their seat and began to shout, my name

-URIEL, URIEL, URIEL, URIEL, URIEL, URIEL, URIEL- they repeated it seven times
and then the ceremony came to an end.

The masters came to greet me and Ariel (the master of the virtues) hugged me,
he was a lovely old man that I meet when I was little, he was immortal, the
only immortal virtue.

When everybody finished I fold my wings back again and they disappeared. I
managed to get away and meet Grace and our other best friends, Mikka, he was
a Principality and Lena, she was an Authority.

Mikka had chocolate skin tone and a pair of blue eyes. he was skinny and tall,
Lena was of ivory skin tone, she had blonde hair that felled reaching her
lower back; Grace was your typical red haired girl with green eyes and
freckles. She was very beautiful. We were a pretty mixed group as you can
see. As I came close to them I felt the awkwardness, Archangels may be on
the last sphere but they, sorry we, are one of the most important chorus of
all.

-Hi- I said to no one in particular

-Congrats- Lena added

-Please we can fake that I am the old me, I didn't knew this, I don't want
this-

-Don't worry, nothing is gonna change, we are just surprised, that's all-
said Grace.

We chatted for almost half an hour when they suddenly stood stiff, I turned
on my heels to see who was behind me, there it was president Meael, master of
the Authorities and beside him was Raphaella

-This is where you have been, We have been looking for you- She then hugged
me-Tomorrow instead of going to the jobs official come to see us in the
Archangel's office ok? - she asked, I nodded, it was difficult to picture this
girl being immortal, she looked like a 21 year old, and certainly they
could change their age and bodies.

I went to my house eventually, everybody whispered when I passed by, when I
arrived home my mother came to hug me and began to talk about how she raised
an archangel, I let her talking alone and went to the kitchen, Matilda was
there, she was a human that died and now she worked for us, many humans spend
their afterlife working for angels. They never get old or die, because they
are already dead.

-I heard what happened, how are you feeling? - She asked

-I want to lie in bed and no stand up again, my whole life had changed-

-At least they give you time, I was here the last time the graduated a new
archangel, they didn't give her time to accept it, they took her with them
straight after the ceremony- I didn't want to speak anymore tonight, I
grabbed a plate that Matilda handed to me, angels still eat, and went to my
room.

I couldn't be an archangel; I was not even a good angel. Maybe they are
confused, because if they knew my sin...


-Uriel, wake up- I was expecting to see Grace but instead of it in my room
was Gabriel- will you wake up already- I stood up immediately and said

-Master Gabriel-

-only Gabriel, we are like brothers now remember-

-Yeah, sorry, Gabriel

-You can also call me Gabe-

-I prefer Gabriel for a while- Gabriel was smiling at me, he had blonde hair
and a beard that looked very good on him. He also looked like he was 21 year
old, and he had a very muscular body, he was handsome. You see, that is my
sin, I consider myself what humans call gay-May I ask why are you in my room?
I thought I would go to your place.

-Yes but I was near and besides you do not have the uniform- he added handing
me one, I looked at it and it was a white shirt with silver details and pants
just like it, he also gave a black cloak- to pass unseen- he added and then
smirked, why an arch wanted to be unseen? I do not know but I gladly accepted
it because I didn't want to be the center of attention.

I quickly went to the bathroom and took a shower, when I came out I had the
shirt open forgetting Gabriel was in the room. when I saw him he looked
weirdly at me, if I wouldn't know better it looked like it was desire. I
buttoned my shirt and combed my black hair, I looked at the mirror and I
surprised by what I see, my usual blue eyes had now a silver ring around the
blue.

-It is normal, you see- Gabriel added showing me his eyes. I put the shoes
that came with the uniform and the cloak,

-Now or never- I said,

-After you- Began to come down and I saw Matilda in the living room, she
smiled at me, Grace was there too, she was dressed in a blue day dress.

-You look lovely- I said to her

-You look super handsome- She replied, I introduced her to Gabriel and then
we were on our way to the plaza di Angelo (the central plaza where all the
important buildings were, the Dome, the palace, the City Hall and Central
agency, along with many others)

The central agency was at one of the sides of the plaza, it was in a cliff,
so from the entry it looked like a simple two stories building made of glass
and steel like moderns buildings in the human world, but no, it had 100
floors hanging from the cliff. Once inside Grace went to join her fellows
virtues, Gabriel and I took the elevator to the lowest floor, it required
a key to unlock the door, when it opened I was greeted by the most amazing
room I have been in, all the walls were glass, and you could see the human
world beneath us, the room was decorated all in the archangels colors, but it
was cozy and warm.

The first one to greet us was Raphaella

-Uri!!!-she hugged me again, I love hugs but I don't know this woman, Gabriel
saw that I was uncomfortable

-Ella, please, let the kid breathe- he said with a smirk on his beautiful
face, Uri, hold it together, he is your brother- Come kid; you have to meet
the rest of the gang

-I am not a kid- I said a little angry

-When you have lived thousands of years you will think different- True, but I
couldn't tell him he was right

-My name is Uriel, ok?-

They nodded and then they took me to sort of a living room, there was a lot
of books and a fireplace, the place looked almost human. The rest of the
"gang" was seated, Zerachiel was smoking a cigarette, I didn't knew angels
smoked. Raguel was doing pushups on the floor, Remiel was reading a book and
Michael was speaking thru a light ball, is the system that angels have to
communicate with each others, almost like smart phones.

When they saw me they came to greet me, except Raguel, who stood uncomfortable
on the back. Everybody was warm and nice with me; they treat me like a little
brother. Again except Raguel, He looked like if he hated me.

-You need to start your training Uriel- Michel told me- we do not want you to
get killed on your first mission.

-Oh love give him a break- Raphaella said clutched to Michael

-Love? - I asked in confusion

-Oh yes, we are married- she explained

-And we are not brothers?-

-Oh no, that is just an expression-


ONE MONTH LATER
-I swear he hates me-I said Grace and I were seated on a restaurant that was
near the agency, it was hanging from the cliff too. You may say that is kind
of scary that most of our buildings are hanging from a cliff, but when you
can fly, is very odd to be afraid of heights, this restaurant is between two
rivers so the two waterfalls are amazing. The water never reaches the human
world, I do not know why.

We were waiting for Lena and Mikka to have lunch, and I was complaining about
Raguel, that men fucking hated me, he always managed to collide with me or
"accidently" ruin some of my things, or even his line "Sorry I didn't saw you"
when he pushed me, the only one who seemed to notice was Remiel (Remy now)
he told me that Raguel was always a jerk. But I didn't think so, this was
too personal, Raphaella (Who now was Ella, and Michael was Mike and Zerachiel
Zeke and of course Gabriel was simply Gabe) sometimes had to use her healing
powers after my encounters with Raguel

-Oh Uri, I am sure he doesn't hate you, he is just a jerk- Grace added

-You don't even know him- I refuted

-Yes, but who could hate you? Look at you

-That is not the point, he hates me and he go mad when I spend too much time
with Gabe, I told him, Gabe is just interested in me because I am the new
boy, a toy he could entertain himself with

-Ah, I never, I spend time with you because I actually like you- I heard a
voice say behind me, when I stand up here he was, Gabe, with his beautiful
green and silver eyes, his eyes were more silver than mine, him being and
elder and all that.

-Gabe I didn't knew you were here-

-It is too hard to believe I want to be your friend? You know we are going
to be partners for ever- Gabe said

-Oh Gabriel, don't feel too bad, he took like five months to believe I
wanted to be his friend, and we were six years old, he thinks he don't
deserve to have friends- said Grace

-OK, awkward, can I join in?-

-Sure, of course, it will by my pleasure- I said still nervous. He took a
seat next to me and then Mikka and Lena came. we ordered lunch, Grace ordered
a corn soup, Mikka ordered a hamburger; Lena got grilled salmon and a salad
I ordered mi usual chicken and strawberry salad with a mini chicken pot pie.
When I ordered my food Gabe looked funny at me and said

-The same to me please, and can you bring me your delicious falafels for
appetizer, thank you Dawn- he said to the waitress with a smile and she smiled
him back.

We talked the whole time we were seated there; I couldn't take my eyes of
Gabe, he was just so perfect. The food was delicious too.

Then an energy sphere appeared and Ella could be heard screaming orders
in the background and Raguel could be seen in the projection

-Gabriel, we need you in the headquarters ASAP, there was an attack on China,
let whatever you are doing and come now- before the projection ended Raguel
shot me a hateful glare, I responded him with the same one. it disappeared
after that.

-Well guys, it was a pleasure meeting you- he said to Lena and Mikka, then he
looked at grace and kissed her hand before he looked at me and finished- See
you tomorrow- then he left.

-WOW, I can't believe I meet Gabriel, he is so fucking handsome- Lena said
enthusiastically, and oddly the smile on Mikka's face disappeared.

We keep talking for a while, then Mikka left with Lena on tow, and I was going
to spend the afternoon on Grace's home.

Once alone Grace looked at me and said

- You like him-

-Him who? Gabe, yes he is a very good person, we maybe will be friends- I
answered

-I am not talking about that. You have a crush on him-
