    I pulled off Luke and stood. I followed Dag into the living
room. He looked young, but that didn't mean much. He could be a
couple hundred years old. He had sandy brown hair, which seemed
unusual. Almost everyone I'd seen in the pack had brown or black
hair. My three mates had black hair on their heads, as well as
their bodies. My hair was dark brown. Looking at my mates gave me
an erection. Dutch saw me looking at his crotch. He pulled his
erection out of his pants and let me look at it. The doctor held
out his hand.
    "I'm pleased to meet you, Tom."
    I smiled.
    "You, too."
    "People call me Doc, but my name is Richard Adams. I answer
to either of them."
    I nodded.
    "I got a little disoriented and then dizzy a few minutes,
ago. We think I got pregnant yesterday."
    Doc nodded.
    "Have you ever suffered from dizzy spells before?"
    "No."
    "Well, lots of things can cause them. Male pregnancy is one
of them. You can thank Hephin for being the guinea pig who taught
me that."
    I smiled.
    He took my temperature and then my blood pressure.
    "Both normal."
    He frowned.
    "Luke is your mate, but I smell."
    Dag cut in.
    "Alephin made Dutch and Eddie their mates. They are a
quartet."
    Doc raised an eyebrow.
    "Alephin amazes me, constantly," he said.
    I frowned. I wondered how he meant that.
    "We are glad," Eddie said. He was jacking off Dutch. "Dutch
and I wanted to be mates, but I wasn't looking forward to
spending the rest of my life begging him to let me fuck him. This
way we are still mates, but we have Tom to fuck and Luke to
love."
    "You better love me, too, or no fucking!" I said, joking.
    "We do love you. Don't we, Dutch?"
    "Very much."
    I smiled.
    "Hmm. Well, Alephin always seems to know best," Doc said.
"Sometimes it takes a while for me to catch on."
    Dag chuckled.
    "His pack does run smoothly. I've seen some that were more
like war zones, with factions hating each other," Dag said. "I
was very surprised to learn that every male in the pack is fucked
by him at least once, but it shows very clearly whether a young
male is submissive towards him, or not."
    Doc nodded.
    "Not just young males. He fucked me after he offered me the
job. I was a hundred and ten."
    I was surprised.
    Doc wiped my arm with an alcohol swab. I groaned when he
picked up a needle. I hated needles! Luke put his arm around me.
I closed my eyes. I waited and waited, but didn't feel it. I felt
Doc's hands on me. Then he let go. I opened my eyes and saw him
holding a vial of blood.
    "How did you get that?"
    He grinned at me.
    "I've been doing it for a hundred and twenty years. A bit
longer than your average human phlebotomist."
    I laughed.
    I watched him sniff the blood.
    "It smells normal."
    He examined my eyes and ears.
    "You seem very healthy, which is no surprise. We can't say
for sure whether you are pregnant, yet, but you are healthy.
Unless you feel symptoms other than brief dizziness, I would not
worry about it."
    "Should he take pre-natal vitamins?" Luke asked.
    "I recommend a daily multivitamin and a calcium supplement.
I'll have the pack store deliver them."
    The door opened and Alephin walked into the room.
    "Anything wrong?"
    "No," Doc said. "Tom was dizzy, briefly."
    Alephin nodded.
    He walked over and squatted in front of me. He took my hand
and held it.
    "Hephin threw up a few times," Alephin said.
    I nodded. I was surprised by his concern for someone he had
just met. But I loved him and I guessed he really did love me.
Alephin seemed to read my mind. He patted my leg and smiled at
him. I smiled at him.
    Doc put his things away.
    "I'll have the lab results tomorrow, but I can tell by smell
when something is wrong. You are fine," Doc said. "That doesn't
mean you won't have other symptoms of pregnancy, though. Like
brief periods of nausea. Your body chemistry is changing, and you
are going to feel it."
    I nodded. That certainly made sense.
    Elepan walked into the room carrying a baby. A toddler. The
little boy waved at me. I grinned and waved back. Elepan had a
moustache. I looked at Eddie.
    "You should grow a moustache," I said.
    "OK.
    "What about me?" Dutch said.
    "There's nothing we can do about your appearance," Eddie said
to him. "Except maybe clown makeup."
    I laughed.
    "I'll have to borrow yours," Dutch said. "And your floppy
shoes, too.
    We laughed.
    "Call me if you have any symptoms that last longer than an
hour," Doc said.
    "We will," Luke said.
    "Bye. Bye, Alpha."
    "Thanks for stopping by," Alephin said to him.
    He left.
    "Alephin, they need a bigger house than Les'," Dag said. "Tom
would like an indoor swimming pool, for one thing. I think that
is probably a good idea. He'll be safer swimming indoors."
    "That's true."
    "I would still like to live close to you, though," I said.
    Alephin nodded.
    "You are safest next to me, or next to Hephin's pack. Since
you are in my pack, having you close to me, is my preference,
too."
    He seemed to be thinking.
    "That lot isn't that big, but you could build up, with
several floors," he said.
    "That sounds good to me," I said.
    I looked at my mates. They were nodding.
    "I think we should have an underground passageway connecting
the two houses," Alephin said to Dag. "We may not ever need it,
but you never know."
    Dag nodded.
    "Do you want to handle it, or should I?" Alephin asked Dag.
    "I will be happy to do it, if that won't be a problem," Dag
said.
    Alephin shook his head.
    "It isn't. I trust you, and Tom is having your baby."
    Dag grinned.
    "I can hardly believe it!"
