Boy World

Chapter Nine

"Look! It's our only chance. I was able to contact my friend at
World Council Headquarters before they started jamming the SAT phone,"
Mark Davis said, as he and Adnon, Derrick and Sean sat around the
campfire.

"But, if we destroy the Floater we'll be stuck here!" Derrick protested.

"We're stuck here anyway. By tomorrow they'll be searching the
islands, if they aren't already. I'm hoping they won't figure out
right away that I would come back to this one. I figure in thirty-six
hours help will be here. There's no way to hide the damn Floater. We
need to unload anything we can use off of it and sink it," Mark
replied.

"Sir! I know of a cave we can use," Adnon said, causing Mark to turn
his head and look at Adnon strangely.

"You shouldn't even know this place. You mean to tell me you
remember?" Mark asked.

"Yes, I do."

"Uh, excuse me. What are you guys talking about?" Derrick asked.

"Uh, nothing. Look, you and Sean unload everything from the Floater
you think we'll need for a least three days or so just to be on the
safe side. Adnon and I will go check out this cave he's talking
about," Mark replied.

"Okay, I guess. This seems weird, though," Derrick replied.

"Just do it! We haven't much time!" Mark replied.

"He doesn't know does he?" Adnon said, some minutes later as Mark
followed him through the foliage upward toward the hilly part of the
island.

"Who doesn't know what?" Mark asked.

"The man named Derrick. He doesn't know about Sean does he?"

"No!"

"You should tell him, Mark Davis."

"Uh, I think Sean should tell him that."

"It hasn't started with Sean yet."

"What hasn't started?"

"The feeling inside, the questioning, the wondering where you came
from, why you have no memories of things, then all of a sudden you do,
why you suddenly feel strange."

"Adnon, wait a minute!" Mark said, coming to a halt on the trail. "I
guess I should have asked you this before now. What's it like being
you?"

"I don't know, Mark Davis. I remember being here on this island,
trying to escape from you catching me for some reason. I remember
feeling terribly afraid of you for some reason as if there were
horrible things you wanted to do to me. I remember the cave. That is
all I remember."

"Do you know what you are, Adnon?"

"I know I am not like you in some ways, if that is what you mean."

"No, you aren't. You are a man-made thing, Adnon, a creation of
science and technology and so is Sean. Neither of you is human."

"Human? Just exactly what is human Mark Davis?"

"Like I am, Adnon."

"Like you are, Mark Davis? If you pull that knife from your belt and
cut my arm will I not bleed? If you slap me, will tears not come to
my eyes? If you kiss me will I not sigh? If you make love to me will
I not respond? What is human, Mark Davis?"

Stunned by Adnon's words, Mark stood silent for a moment and looked at
him, then spoke.

"Yes, if I cut you you will bleed. Yet, it will not be real blood.
If I slap you you will cry, but it will not be real tears. If I kiss
you, you will sigh, as you have been programmed to do. If I make love
to you, you will love me back, for that is what you were designed and
created for. There is no human emotion in it at all," Mark replied.

Adnon stood and stared blankly at Mark's words, his piercing green
eyes sparkling in the light of the full moon. It was as if he was
absorbing all that the human had said. Then, a single tear formed in
his right eye and dribbled down his cheek.

"I understand, sir. Please, we must get to the cave. I'm not sure
the things I placed there are still there," Adnon replied, and turned
and headed up the path.

Surpassingly, the food and equipment Adnon had stashed in the cave as
the boys were trying to hide from Mark were still there. The only
thing Mark could figure is that in their haste to pull Mark and the
boys off of the island, and the subsequent goings on at Boy World,
nobody had given the island much thought.

"Look! I'm probably the strongest swimmer out of all of us. Did you
get everything you thought we could use off of the Floater Craft?"
Mark asked.

"Yes, what emergency provisions we could find. The SAT phone won't be
of much use, of course. But, the other stuff might come in handy."
Derrick replied.

"Fine! You and Adnon and Sean start packing it all up to the cave.
I'm going to take the Floater out a good ways and sink it."

"I want to go with you,Mark Davis," Adnon said.

"No! You stay here! They don't know the way to the cave. I'll be
back as soon as I can. Is the inflatable raft still on the Floater,
Derrick?"

"Yeah."

"Good! Now you guys get all this shit up to the cave and I should be
back in an hour or so," Mark said, and headed toward the Floater.

"I figured Adnon and Sean would be starved. Why didn't they want to
eat?" Derrick asked hours later, and took another bite from the
Nutra-Bar he held in his hand.

"Uh, I think they wanted to talk some things over. You know how young
kids are," Mark replied.

"Just the same, I find it very strange. In fact, come to think of it,
Sean has never been around at mealtime. He always had somewhere to go
or something to do. I've never seen him eat." Derrick said.

"God! Derrick, I've got to tell you something and it's going to come
as a shock to you," Mark responded.

"What?"

"Sean isn't real."

"Huh!"

"He and Adnon are both droids. To be exact, Protodroids."

"What!"

"Sean's a machine, Derrick. A man-made machine!"

"No! That's not possible! Nothing like that exists. What there are
like that they use them for dangerous shit. Cleaning nuclear reactors
and stuff. There's no fucking robots that can make love!" Derrick
exclaimed, prompting Mark to sigh and shake his head.

" Believe me, Derrick. It's true. I suspect Adnon is telling Sean
now. Sean doesn't know what he is either. The process that has
caused all the trouble hasn't hit him yet."

"This is fucking crazy! I've been in love with a God damned machine?
A fucking robot!" Derrick exclaimed.

"He's a Protodroid, Derrick. Not a robot."

"Fuck that shit! You can't tell me that love like that comes from a
fucking machine! My God! I've never had anyone love me or make love
to me like that in my whole fucking life!"

"It's what he's programmed to do, Derrick."

"Fuck you! Fuck you to hell! You've fucking gone crazy or something!"

"Derrick, my dear Derrick! When they come back, see if you can get
Sean to eat something. I know better than to ask Adnon."

"Fine! I will. I don't believe you! I don't know what the fuck your
motive is for this crap but I don't believe you!"

"As you say, Derrick. Now, I think I'll take the first watch. I
suspect the Security folks are already out and about.

"Where are you going, Mark Davis?" Adnon asked, as he and Sean ran
into Mark heading up the path toward the peak of the hilly part of the
island.

"I'm taking the first watch. I don't think it'll be long before the
Security guys discover we're here. The whole place is riddled with
cameras and sensors. Why are you two naked?"

"Sean knows, Mark Davis. I talked with him. We have rid ourselves of
man-made things," Adnon said.

"Adnon is right, Mark Davis. It is the human world that desires us to
wear those things. It is not our doing," Sean added.

"Sean, I will go with Mark Davis. You stay here with the man named
Derrick. Come, Mark Davis, let us watch for our enemies," Adnon said,
and turned and headed toward the high bluff that overlooked the
island, Mark following behind him.

"Well, we might as well settle down and get some sleep while we can.
I saved some food for you. I know you must be hungry," Derrick said
soon after Sean arrived.

"Uh, thank you. That won't be necessary, " Sean replied.

"Then, it's true then. What Mark said was true. You're one of them,"
Derrick replied.

"Yes, Derrick Adams. I guess I am," Sean responded.

"Oh God! Oh God! I'm in love with a fucking machine!" Derrick
wailed, and began to sob.

On the high bluff up above, Derrick's anguished wails wafted upward
causing Mark to clear his throat.

"Well, that seems to be going rather well," he commented sarcastically.

"Please, Mark Davis. Sarcasm doesn't become you any more than your
craving to subjugate someone," Adnon replied.

"Sarcasm? What the hell do you know about sarcasm much less subjugation?"

"More than you think, Mark Davis. More and more is becoming obvious
to me with each passing hour. You loved putting your big penis down
my throat and making me gag didn't you? You loved it when I cried
when you put it in my rectum. Oh, I remember now. I remember more
than you think!" Adnon replied.

"Adnon, I'm sorry. I really am! I got carried away!" Mark responded.

"Is that a human emotion, Mark Davis? Getting carried away?"

"Yes, I'm afraid so," Mark replied, half hanging his head.

"Well, I'm glad I don't have it," Adnon replied. "They're coming! Listen!"

"I don't hear anything!" Mark responded.

"You wouldn't. You're human. Four, maybe five, Floater Craft, maybe
five miles away."

" Good God! You can hear that far? We need to go tell the others!"

"Not just yet! There is time. Besides, they are busy right now,"
Adnon replied.

"Busy?"

"Man and machine, Mark Davis. My new circuits are still developing
but I believe it would be correct for me to say that there is a
melding of man and machine going on down below. My hearing tells me
so. Would you care to enjoy the experience? You have before, you
know."

"Adnon, I would fucking love it!" Mark said, undoing the snap on his shorts.

"You didn't find me repulsive knowing I'm not human?" Adnon asked some
minutes later as Mark cuddled him, his cock still inside Adnon and
slowly softening.

"It was fantastic, Adnon."

"Yes, I felt something different this time, too. I don't know what,"
Adnon replied.

"We must really go tell the others now," Mark said, and kissed Adnon
on the forehead as he removed his cock from his behind.

While Derrick and Adnon and Sean positioned themselves behind some
rocks on the slope that led upward, Mark positioned himself behind
some rocks at the edge of the beach and watched as the Security men,
led by Gerald, began to disembark from the four Floater Craft.

"That's far enough, Gerald!" Mark said, standing up from behind the
rocks, laser pistol in hand.

In response, almost instantly the Security Detail raised their laser
rifles and pointed them at Mark.

"I think you better tell them to lower their weapons, Gerald! You may
shoot me but I'm aimed straight at your head. I'll zap it before I
hit the ground," Mark said.

"Please, Mr. Davis! There is no reason for all of this. We have just
come to claim our property and we'll be gone," Gerald replied.

"If you mean Adnon and Sean, forget it!" Mark responded.

"Look, Mr. Davis. You and Mr. Adams are bordering on some serious
theft of property here. We don't want any trouble. Just give us the
Protodroids and we'll be gone," Gerald said.

"Not a chance!" Mark responded.

"Please! Be reasonable Mr. Davis! Surely-------------."

As Gerald had begun to walk toward where Mark stood, suddenly, there
was a loud zapping sound as and area in the sand between his feet
melted where the blast from the laser rifle Derrick had fired left its
Mark in the sand. Instantly, Gerald halted his advance.

"I wouldn't come one inch closer if I were you, Gerald! Tell Mr.
Chang I want to talk to him. You know damn well if anything happens
to me there will be hell to pay! Now, I suggest you and your men load
up and get out of here. I'll deal only with Mr. Chang on this," Mark
said.

"Fine! As you wish. I'll deliver your message to Mr. Chang," Gerald
said. "Come on men. Let's leave these idiots before someone gets
hurt," he added, and turned around and headed back to where the
Floaters were beached.

"They're not really gone, you know. They're just out of sight. I can
hear them moving around behind us. They're going to land on the other
side of the island," Adnon said, ten minutes later after the Floater
Craft had disappeared from view.

"Bastard! I didn't figure he'd do what I asked. Well, I guess our
asses are in a jam for sure. There's not much we can do with one
rifle and one pistol against all those men. It's only a matter of
time I'm afraid," Mark said.

"Don't be so sure, Mark Davis. I hear something else, too," Adnon replied.

"What?" Mark asked.

"I don't know. It's a humming sound. I'm not familiar with. It's
miles away but headed our direction rather rapidly," Adnon replied.

"Holy shit! I bet it's an Anti-Grav Transporter. Richard's on his
way! He came through! Quick! Down to the beach so we can get the
fuck out of here!" Mark said.

Indeed, that is what it was and the four were quickly picked up and on
their way toward safety before Gerald and his men realized they were
gone. Yet, the difficulties were only just beginning for the four of
them.
