Gary moved between the window and work bench for what must have been the
hundredth time.  Linda looked up and glared at him.  "Go outside", she said
firmly pointing to the door.  Gary knew better than to go against what his
mate and alpha told him to do.  "Don't be so hard on him Alpha", David
spoke softly tucking a stray strand of red hair behind his ear.  Linda
looked at the pale sorcerer that had joined her pack.  "You are right he is
feeling both yours and Ben's frustration at the situation".  David bowed
his head.  It was true that he felt responsible for his missing apprentice.
However it was Ben who was truly hurting.

Hours later Gary returned to find the pair still sat at the work bench
working on the gateway problem.  In the three weeks since they had spoken
to the council of sorcerers they had worked out how to open gateways.
However they were unstable and almost always closed as soon as they were
open.  David had indicated that the council would have had more raw
power. Allowing them to keep it opened for a grater length of time.  Leo
had explained that it had not been the gateway its self he had been
fighting.  Rather it had been one or more of the sorcerers trying to cast
it.

Ben walked in shortly after Gary.  He looked pale and thin, Gary drew him
into a tight hug.  Knowing it was what the smaller wolf needed.  "I think I
may have a solution".  Ben spoke into the frustrated silence.  The four
other sorcerers looked at him sharply.  Leo and Bridget had joined David
and Linda.  "I think it needs a focus point to make it stable".  Gary
squeezed Ben and wondered how he could have missed it.  "Of cause a focus
like my crystals".  Leo grinned and David nodded both having seen what
needed to be done.  "Now all we need to do is find the right focus", Linda
spoke, noting the hope in her brothers eyes.

The group tossed ideas around not really knowing what to use as a focus.
With normal teleportation spells it was always the destination that was the
focus.  However to open a permanent gateway was something different.  Linda
looked at her reflection in her mirror.  She had sent Gary to Ben.  Her
brother needed him more than she did.  She was worried about the gateway
spell.  It was like nothing she had seen before and seemed to be designed
to send people to one location.  That was not all that worried her.  The
spell seemed to be only for werewolves.  It had been Leo who pointed it out
to her two nights before.

Sighing Linda put her brush down.  She looked down at herself and shrugged
the long white night gown would do.  Linda focused and teleported herself
to a person she thought never to see or speak to again.  Looking around she
noted that the bedroom hadn't changed.  A woman sat up in the bed and
looked at Linda with surprise.  "Child you should not be here", Linda
smiled and went and hugged the older women.  "Sorry Grandmother but I need
help".  Leann sighed and hugged her granddaughter.  "What do you know of
the gateway spell"?  It was a simple question and yet it had such a
profound reaction on Leann.  "Where did you here of that"? Leann asked
sharply.  Linda briefly explained what had happened hoping that her
grandmother could shed some light on the problem.

Gary knew as soon as Linda left the house.  He sighed as he gently pushed
his old room's door open.  He was not surprised to see been curled up in
the middle of the big bed.  Gary sat down quietly and ran his fingers
through Ben's dirty blonde hair.  A soft smile touched Ben's lips, bring
one to Gary's.  "We will find him Benny I promise".  Ben shifted in his
sleep as Gary lay down next to him holding the smaller wolf tightly in his
arms.

David sat looking into a pond, he had returned to his own home.  More to
get away and think than anything else.  David was startled to hear someone
cough behind him.  He was even more surprised to see his own mentor
standing in his garden.  "Ponds are like mirrors and doorways all make
excellent gateways wouldn't you say".  David just stared at his mentor
Adam, didn't appear to have changed.  "I'm sorry what"?  David spoke with
confusion in his voice.  Adam smiled and walked over to the pond.  "The
answer you and your pack so desperately seek".  David was not surprised
that Adam knew he was now a werewolf.  "Ponds, mirrors and doorways",
David's eyes went wide at the realisation.  "All would make a good focus
for a gateway but, I don't understand how did you know"?  Adam just smiled.
David looked back at the pond.  When he went to ask another question his
mentor was gone.

Linda sat in stunned silence. What her grandmother had told her was too
much to take in.  She had returned to the pack house and was still
stunned. From what her grandmother had said werewolves were not from this
world.  Neither were vampires or sorcerers.  The true magic uses of this
world were the mages.  From what her grandmother said there had been three
banishments from their home world.  First it had been the vampires then the
sorcerers.  Lastly it had been the werewolves.  As the legend went the
werewolves had disagreed with the other werespecies.  The disagreement had
been largely to do with the treatment of normals.

David knocked on Linda and Gary's door, he knew Linda was alone.  "Come in
David".  David entered and saw the stunned expression on Linda's face.
"Sorry to disturb, but I know what we can use as a focus".  Linda nodded
and smiled as David explained it really was that simple.  "We will do it
tomorrow, go get some sleep".  David nodded as he left the Alphas rooms.
Linda rose and crossed to the nursery, her twin boys were sleeping.  She
smiled down at them.  They were the product of two worlds and three
species.

Ben woke to the feel of Gary's warm hard body pressed against him.  He

world.  From what her grandmother had said, the spell would only work for
werewolves.  "Who is to go through"?  Ben asked with determination in his
eyes and voice.  It was clear to any who saw him that he intended to go.
"You, Gary and David, we can't risk sending anyone else".  The three
nodded.

Gary and Linda moved away from the others.  David and Ben watched them.
Neither were jealous of Linda having her place as Alpha Mate to Gary.  None
in the room herd what the pair said to each other.  Gary nodded once, and
Linda looked upset.  "I suppose now's as good time to go as any", Gary said
trying to break the tension.  "Come back to us and bring the others", was
all Linda said as the three stepped through.  Once they were gone Linda's
shoulders slumped.  Gary felt so far away, Leo hugged her.  "Don't worry
they will come back to us", Linda looked at the old vampire and nodded.

Gary shuddered as he felt the distance between himself and Linda.  In
contrast Ben looked happier than he had done in three weeks.  "He's so much
closer now", David smiled and patted him on the back.  He then went over
and hugged Gary.  Gary smiled as Ben joined them.  "We will be as fast as
we can".  Gary nodded and kissed both of them, he would be fine, he hated
to think how the three weeks had been for Jerry.  "Thanks guys", was all he
needed to say.

David was looking around and smiled. He walked over to tree that looked
like any other.  With a frown he removed the spell placed on it.  Looking
into the hollow he saw Tony's phone.  "Good boy, some of what I taught you
stuck at least".  David spoke to himself not really expecting anyone to
answer.  "He is a smart boy", David nodded and looked over the maps Tony
had taken photos of.  "Well I'm guessing we go to this keep or whatever it
is.  But what direction is it" David asked.  Ben just grinned and indicated
the way.  "I can feel him", he was smiling softly to himself as he started
walking not waiting for the others to catch up.
