A/N - hello everybody!!!! okay so, i know this chapter should have been on
here ages ago but i've been dealing with a bunch of crap with my family and
my boyfriend and yeah, all that nice stuff that makes me hate life even more
than i already do. But hey, thank god i have writing as my outlet. When i'm
in a pissed off mood i tend to write waaaaaay better. especially with me
writing vampire stories and all, you kind of need that dark approach to go
with it. But anyways, enough of me ranting about my problems.... here is
chapter two of Dark Nightingale. Please feel free to e-mail me at

Dark Nightingale
Chapter Two

Leigh stood in the main hall, his arms crossed casually over his chest as he
leaned up against the wall. I hate this... why do I keep thinking about that
jerk? The young man looked down at the floor and took a deep breath. Andrea
walked over to the young man and looked at him.
"We were very worried about you Leigh." She said as she looked at him. Her
long hair was pulled back into a ponytail.
"I had to get away for awhile."
"You could've at least warned us first sir, I didn't know what to think when
I found your room empty."
"Sorry..."
"It's okay, you don't have to apologize."
Leigh let out another sigh and turned to face away from the woman. "Did
something happen while you were gone?"
"N-no... What makes you think that?"
"Oh... Nothing, you just seem... different I guess..."
"Really?"
"A little." The red haired woman answered as she looked at Leigh worriedly.
Leigh looked at her. "Don't worry about me, I'm fine..."
"I still worry about you sir, you're the only member of your family left...
and I'd hate to lose you."
Leigh looked at Andrea and smiled weakly. "Don't worry, I'm not going
anywhere...Promise."

"You like him don't you?" Lenora asked as she leaned against the door frame.
Demetrii looked up from the book in his lap. "What- who?"
Lenora rolled her eyes. "You know who I'm talking about, don't play dumb."
"Leigh?" Demetrii asked as he looked at his sister. "Of course not."
"Uh huh..." She said walking over to Demetrii.
"I do NOT like him..." the young man said as he looked down at the book.
"Even if you did like him-"
"Don't even start with me Nora."
"I'm just saying."
"Well don't!" Demetrii snapped. "I made that mistake before with Mateo."
"Yeah, but Mateo wasn't human and he loved you."
"If he loved me he's still be with me."
"Demetrii..." Lenora said softly as she placed a comforting hand on the young
man's shoulder. "I'm sorry; I shouldn't have brought him up..."
"No... you're right... I know why you did it. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool
me twice, shame on me."
"But Demetrii..."
"I need air..." he said as he stood up and walked out of his room and outside.
I wouldn't categorize Mateo as a mistake... I was a young... and I did stupid
things... but Mateo was never one of those mistakes... not to me... he was my
everything... Demetrii let out a sigh as he looked up at the sky. I don't even
know where you are, and ...even if I did, would I look for you?

Leigh sat in the carriage looking at the window, his hands in his lap as he
lost himself in his thoughts. What happens if the men who killed my parents
come after me? No, Leigh don't think like that... nothings going to happen to
you... right? The fifteen year old sighed again as the carriage pulled to a
stop.
"How long sir? "The driver asked as Leigh stepped out of the carriage.
"Um.. I'll walk home Benjamin." The brunette answered with a smile.
"Alright." He said driving away.
Leigh took a deep breath and walked up to the familiar house in the middle
of the country. He walked nervously up to the door and knocked. A few
moments later, Lenora answered the door and smiled at Leigh. "Hello Leigh,
what brings you around these parts of the country?" she asked welcoming him
inside.
"I-Actually, I wanted to see your brother..." he answered, his cheeks coloring
slightly.
"Demetrii? He's not here at the moment... he's ^Ö Out at the moment."
"Oh..." he said lowering his head. "I'll come back another time then."
"Oh, don't be silly. He should be home soon, you're more than welcomed to
wait here for him."
"Thanks." Leigh said with a smile as he followed Lenora into the sitting
room. "Where is he-? If you don't mind me asking?"
"The store, I swear, he practically lives in that book store of his."
"Oh."
"Major book worm."
Leigh smiled. "I read a lot too."
Lenora sat beside him and placed her hand on the teenager's knee. "Can I ask
you something a bit- well... personal?"
"Um... sure..."
"What do you see in my brother?"
"Wha- What do you mean? Are you implying that I like him?"
"I'm not implying anything sweetheart, it's a simple question."
"O-oh... I thought you meant-"
"I know what you meant." She said with a smile. "It's just that he's my
little brother and he's been hurt enough times."
"I understand that..."
"Do you have any siblings?"
"N-no, only child."
Lenora smiled weakly. "My brother means everything to me, I don't want to
see him hurt again."
"You guys' talking about me?" Demetrii asked as he walked into the sitting
room.
"Of course not."
Demetrii looked at Leigh and smiled. "Well, I'll leave you to your company,
Lenora."
"Your company." She corrected.
"Huh?"
"He came to see you, not me."
"Oh?" Leigh blushed slightly as he looked at Demetrii. "Well then, come with
me."
Leigh stood up and followed the older man into his room. He stood in the
door frame as he watched Demetrii walk over to his bed. "So... Why'd you
come?"
" I ^ÖI guess I -I wanted to see you..."
Demetrii laughed. "And why is that?"
"I ^Ö I don't know... I just did."
Demetrii motioned for Leigh to come into the room. "Have a seat." He said
pointing to the desk chair.
"Thanks. Leigh said taking a seat in the chair and looking at Demetrii.
"So... What's up, why did you want to see me?"
"I ^ÖI don't know, you're all I've been able to think about."
Demetrii smiled again. "Kid, I'm sorry, but I have no intention what so ever
to be in another relationship, yet alone with a guy. I've done that once.
And once was enough..."
