Dark Passion
Chapter One

I have lived most of my unnatural life in darkness. I would only
come out at night to feed. Then I would go back to my family's nest to
continue training. I wanted to go out during the day but my family
disapproved. The sun didn't burn my skin nor did I shine and sparkle like
diamonds. I didn't have pale paper white skin either. I looked like an
average seventeen year old, but I had retractable fangs and animal like
reflexes. I could hear a pin drop a mile away, run faster than most sports
cars. See clearer than a hawk. I am the perfect predator, though I don't
look the part. If you were to pass me in the streets you would have never
known that with my slim and short five foot six body, I could rip you to
shreds before you would realized what was going on and scream for help.
I don't look like most members in my family. I don't have hair down
to my back nor do I have deep piercing blue eyes, they're just blue. I am
the shortest in our clan; everyone else is around six foot. Nor am I over
the age of two hundred. I am one of the youngest born to my clan. I am
actually seventeen. Our kind is not sterile like people believe we are. We
just live longer, eternally longer. Our bodies stop aging when we
"Unite". If you didn't study Ominous Nocturni Beliefs and Culture in
school, I think I am the only one, then I will explain to you what that
means. When a member of our kind meets that special one and chooses to
spend your life with them, you "Unite" with them by giving your body to
them. In simple terms we consummate our relationship, thus telling our body
to stop aging. That doesn't mean we have to be virgins to be with that
special someone it isn't a physical thing it is psychological. When the
mind and heart are on the same page for both persons the process starts. If
I had to be a virgin to do that, then I would be screwed. No pun intended.
I have been content to go through life that was set out by my
parents. I was to finish my studies, meet I nice girl and settle down. That
was until I met Him. He was what changed my life. He was the reason that I
broke free of my trapped life and found who I really am. His name was
Phill.
I met Phill out one night. I was going out for quick easy feed. It
was raining and I just wanted to rest in bed all night and just relax. I
went to the local mall to find a couple of people to feed off of so that I
wouldn't have to kill. I hated killing, there was so much trouble with
hiding or burning the body and I don't have the conscience for it. I was
walking past the stores, just window shopping, when there he was. He was in
an army supply store. He was at the counter holding a gun. I focused closer
and could see it was a commercial grade 9mm automatic. It was stock issue
but still one of my favorites. Mine were solid chrome, engraved with black
tribal art on both sides. It was one of my most prized possessions. I am
the best shot in the family. I couldn't take my eyes of him. I have never
wanted to touch anything or anyone more. The urge scared me a bit. I have
great self control but I could feel the give of the metal railing
collapsing on its self of my grip as I try not to leave where I am
standing. I then felt the cramping of my bloodlust increase tenfold. I
wanted him so bad it actually hurt. I had to feed but I couldn't bring
myself feed off of him. I decided to tag his scent and track him down
later.
I went into the store and casually walked by him and breathed in
deep through my nose to take in his scent. It was amazing! It was a deep
and masculine, strong and urged. My mouth started to water so badly that I
am surprised I didn't drool on myself. It was a scent that I will always
remember. I caught a glimpse of his voice. It was low with a medium timber
to it. It was the most arousing thing I have ever heard. I left soon after
that. I could feel my fangs sliding into place. I ran to the nearest crowed
place and breathed in deep to try and dilute his scent with the crowd. But
his scent was still there behind the veil.
