Pete sat with Tiff at lunch watching the group of five boys muck around a
short distance away. "Why don't you go over there and talk to them." Tiff
said with a grin that said she had caught Pete looking at the boys again.
"I will, just not now." Tiff grinned and shook her head not really
understanding Pete's reluctance. She watched as a soft smile spread across
Pete's face as he watched the five. To her it was almost as if he loved
them already. "What are they doing anyway," Pete laughed which got all
fives attention on him.

"They are learning a dance for the Guild Ball." Tiff giggled she should
have realised that. "They don't have a Fifth and Greg is a poor
substitute." Tiff nodded her agreement. "That and there is no music". With
a frown Pete made a soft melody play one that they all knew. The Five
teens stoped there attempt and turned to Pete who was clearly the source of
the music. Pete stood and brushed his shorts off. He then walked toward
the five.

Greg and the others watched intently as the short slender boy approached
them. It was clear to each of them that Pete was in fact a Fifth. A Fifth
who apparently knew the correct dance steps. They watched as Pete moved
into the first steps and were mesmerised by his movements. It was Greg who
approached Pete first. The others formed a lose circle around them as the
pair moved through the dance steps. Each of them moved through the dance
steps with Pete. At the end Pete stood facing the other five. Before any
of them could move there was clapping and cheering from around them.
Apparently they had attracted a crowd. Pete felt himself blush. He saw
that the others were also turning red. Nodding to each of them Pete walked
back to Tiff.

Pete was walking home when he felt it. It was like a disturbance or
wrongness in the air. As he focused on it and followed the sensation it
felt more like something was missing. And that it's very abscesses was
causing everything to feel wrong. Pete entered a small park with a large
fountain. Normally the fountain had a group of water elemental spirits in
it. What Pete saw made his blood run cold. The Elemental spirits appeared
to have been drained of their energy. "Are the dead", Pete turned at the
sound of Jim's voice. "No just drained I think". Pete turned back to his
study of the Elemental spirits. "I think I can revive them with your
help". Jim didn't hesitate he nodded and took the out stretched hand Pete
offered.

Jim felt an electric charge go up his arm when he took hold of Pete's hand.
Pete didn't appear to be surprised by it. Jim was earlier he had felt a
tingle from Pete but now it felt like he was being charged up. Pete
grinned at the confused look on Jim's face. "I'm guessing you haven't
worked a lot with a Fifth". Understanding the reason for the charge Jim
shook his head. "Ok, so put simply I'm going to transfer some of our
energy to them. Not a lot as that could be just as dangerous. Just enough
for them to recover enough to gain energy from the fountain". Jim nodded
once hoping that the little Fifth knew what he was talking about.

Pete closed his eyes as his and Jim's clasped hands began to glow with
energy. Pete placed his other hand into the water. Jim watched as streams
of energy flowed down toward the unmoving bodies of the Elemental Spirits.
Pete continued until the Spirits were once more moving around in the water.
He opened his eyes and looked at Jim who was staring at him. "So do you
think I can have my hand back"? Jim looked down at their hands he blushed
as he let go of Pete's hand. Pete just smiled at him.

"So what do you think happened to them"? Jim asked as he and Pete left the
park. Pete hesitated before answering. Pete knew that their ancient enemy
had returned and were once again trying to gain power through the Elemental
Spirits. "I mean it can't be the Guild we only take down the ones that
have become dangerous to the norms". Jim was correct in what he was
saying. One of the main focuses of the Guild was to protect the norms from
dangerous or corrupted Elemental Spirits. "I'm not sure, but I can only
think of one reason anyone would do that to an Elemental Spirit". Pete
didn't have to say it. Jim knew he was implying that someone had done it
for power.

Jim sat with the others a few hours later. He had been training with the
others each of them were now hot and sweaty. Tiff had come over after and
was sat with them. Jim had just finished telling them about his encounter
with Pete. Tiff was grinning at the dreamy look that had entered each of
the boy's eyes. It reminded her of the way Pete looked at them. "You know
he likes you guys". They all turned and looked at her. "I think he has a
real soft spot for Greg though". Greg grinned at the others, "I told you
he liked me the most". The others all rolled their eyes, however didn't
argue the point. It had been clear to all of them that Pete had liked Greg
the most.

"That's not very nice Tiff giving out my secrets". Tiff gasped in surprise
none of them had heard Pete approach. "No more copying my homework for
you". Tiff got an indigent look as she stood and looked down at Pete.
"I've never copied your homework, and never would". The others sniggered
knowing that Tiff often copied homework or asked for last minute help.
"True but you will once you realise how smart I am". The sniggering
continued. Tiff turned and glared at the others all of whom wouldn't look
her in the eye.

"Fine I know when I'm not wanted". Tiff spun around from the others gave
Pete a quick glare and was almost to the back door before she turned and
looked at Pete. "Um, Pete if it's not too much trouble I could use a very
small amount of help with the math homework. If you wouldn't mind". Pete
smiled and joined Tiff by the door. Before they left Tiff turned once more
sticking her tong out at the others. All of which were laughing at the
pairs interaction.

Later that night Pete lay in bed thinking about the first time he had
danced the Circle Dance with his circle. It had been a clear night the
stars shone. There had been a ball at the palace. They had all attended
however when the public rendition of the dance had been on they had been
forced to sit it out. They had all known that it was forbidden for their
families to ever form a circle. They were also almost always being watched
as they had already changed Greg. It was rare for an unformed circle to
create a key. However as children they had done it.

The six of them had watched from the sidelines as all the other circles
formed up and danced. However later that night they had snuck away. It
was only at festivals that they were ever all in the same place. Pete had
provided the music much as he had at school. Unlike at school the dance
had ended and then the real fun started. Pete felt himself grow hard at
the thoughts and images that the memories conjured up. Pete reached down
and began to rub. He wished he had one of his circle there with him or all
of them. With the images in his head it wasn't long before he climaxed.
Feeling relaxed he fell to sleep soon after he had cleaned up.

Pete watched Greg the next day. He wasn't sure however he felt that the
enemy would go after Greg as he was the only Key and as such would show up
on any power scans as something out of the ordinary. "You know I've been
told verbal communication works wounders". Tiff said with an innocent grin
on her face. Pete looked at his friend who had been trying to get him to
talk to the guys more or less since they met. Thus far Pete had managed to
avoid them for the most part. He also wanted to keep it that way for as
long as he could. "I will talk to them when I'm ready", was his irritated
response. Pete was saved from whatever argument Tiff was going to make by
the bell to return to class.

Pete watched Greg go off to class. Much to Tiff's amusement. Pete rolled
his eyes at her obvious enjoyment. "Well I'm going to class if you want to
join me. You may rather to stay here grinning like fool". Pete started to
walk off. He was quickly caught up to by Tiff who was still grinning.

At the end of the day Pete was surprised not to find Tiff waiting form him
at the gate. In her place was a nervously smiling Greg. "Hi", Greg spoke
softly. The very sound of his voice gave Pete a shiver of pleasure. "Hi,
I was expecting a friend", Greg nodded indicating he knew that Pete would
be. "Um, Tiff and the others already left. I was more or less told to
stay here and wait for you". It was clear to Pete that Greg was a little
nervous at being singled out as the one to talk to Pete. Pete smiled
trying to reassure Greg. His smile made Greg smile a little and seem less
nervous.

"Well we might as well go along with the meddlesome women's plan. She
won't be happy until we have some one on one time". Greg's eyes went wide
at the obvious sexual innuendo in Pete's comment. "All in good time, but
let's start with walking me home and a chat". Greg blushed and nodded his
head. He couldn't believe how easily Pete made him off balance. In the
past he had been the one to make the boy or girl he was trying to impress
blush and act like a dork. And yet Pete was doing it to him effortlessly.

Pete started walking leading them in the direction of Greg's house. "I
thought I was walking you home". Greg said with a frown as he noticed the
direction they were going in. "And how do you know where I live"? Pete
cursed himself and his stupidity. He wasn't supposed to know where Greg
lived. "I could be a crazy stalker, or I may have noted which way you go
when you head home. Also I thought you might want to drop your bag of at
your place". Pete congratulated himself on thinking of a reason for the
direction they had taken so quickly. Greg nodded and continued in the
direction they had started to walk in. "So you're a crazy stalker. Have
you built a shrine to me of random bits of my stuff you could put your
hands on yet". Pete pretended to think about it for a minute.

"You know I do with your perfect likeness sculpted from the gum you have
chewed and thrown away". Pete got a slightly crazy look to his face as he
let his eyes unfocused giving him a distant dreamy but crazy look. "You
know I don't chew gum right", Greg said playing along. Pete blinked and
focused on Greg's face. "No you don't do you, it must be that other guy I
stalk. There are so many it gets a little complicated". Pete managed to
keep a straight face for about three seconds before he burst into laughter.
Greg couldn't help it he laughed right along with the little Fifth.

Greg's house was as Pete remembered it. It had its normal empty feel about
it due to the fact both his parents worked full time in high paying jobs.
Greg moved through the house headed to his room. Pete followed behind as
if he didn't know where to go. Greg frowned at Pete. He wasn't behaving
like someone that had never been to his place before. Pete was just
focused on Greg, not on the rooms they went through. It was like Pete had
no interest in what each room looked like or he had been here before.

"I'm beginning to think you may really be a stalker", Greg joked. Pete
looked confused not really knowing what Greg was getting at. "You may be
following but it's like you have already been here and knows the layout and
everything that is in each room". Pete wanted to thump himself. Greg's
parents had a number of pieces of art work that should have grabbed his
attention if it was the first time he had been to Greg's house. "I guess
I'm just distracted by something more interesting", Pete smiled coyly
looking Greg up and down. Greg laughed and shook his head at the grinning
Pete.

It was as they entered Greg's room that they felt something off. Greg put
his arm up to stop Pete from entering. "I know you are in there, stop
messing around and show your selves". Greg called into the room not moving
from the doorway. Pete frowned trying to get past Greg to see what was
going on. It was as he ducked under Greg's arm that they saw the two
beings who had intruded on Greg's space. Greg gasped in surprise. Pete
just glared at the two beings. "Elves", Greg murmured to stunned to do or
say anything else. Pete formed a barrier just as the elves threw ice
blasts at them. "Greg stay behind me", Pete instructed. Greg was ready to
protest, "You are not part of a circle yet they are considerably stronger
than you". Pete said. Greg could see the worry in Pete's eyes. He nodded
once indicating he understood what Pete was saying.

"What do you know a human sorcerer with a brain", one of the elves sneered.
Pete glared at the elf. "I think you upset him", the other said clearly
not impressed with Pete. The first elf laughed in response. "What you
think we should do with him"? The first elf looked at Pete and grinned.
Pete didn't like the look of the elf's grin. "Drain him and take the
other". Was the response, Pete was ready for that. What he wasn't ready
for was Greg shoving him out of the way and taking the brunt of the attack.

Pete watched with wide horrified eyes as the elves absorbed Greg's power
and energy. "No"! Pete screamed, "I've lost him to many times". What he
released on the elves was not pretty neither did it take any skill. Pete
blasted them with a very basic but powerful mental blast. The two elves
slumped to the floor dead. Pete took a few deep breaths before approaching
Greg. He was so scared that the elves had killed him before he had a
chance to react.

Pete knelt down and searched for a pulse from Greg. His relief at finding
one was immense. It was weak but it was there. "I'm so sorry Greg I
hadn't wanted to do this yet, but I can think of no other way I can't lose
you again". Silent tears fell from Pete's eyes as he closed them and
focused on his key. Pete flooded Greg with his power searching for the
spark of power in Greg. The instant he found it and connected with it
Greg's pulse grew stronger. Pete withdrew his power from Greg knowing he
had started to form his circle once more.

Greg opened his eyes with a start. He was disorientated as his memories of
the future that would no longer happen came back to him. As he sat up he
saw a pale faced Pete. He lent forward and kissed a surprised Pete. "Hay
little one", Pete's face broke out into a grin, his Greg was back. "Do you
want to explain what's going on"? Greg indicated the two elves, now
clearly dead. Pete looked over at the elves he knew he had to tell Greg
something but first he had a question for him. "I will get to that, but
first I need to know what you remember".

Greg looked at Pete with a frown, "I remember everything". Pete shook his
head realising Greg didn't really grasp what he was asking. "I need to
know if you remember the future that won't happen. However I need to know
if you remember the past". Greg just looked at him in confusion. "I'm
guessing you don't, we will work that out later". Greg was confused but
realized Pete was more talking to himself. "Those are commonly known as
either Dark or Gray Elves. Typically thought of as nothing more than a
fairytale. Obviously they are not a fairytale. In fact they are a space
travailing alien". Greg looked at the tall thin gray skinned pointed eared
beings that had attacked him and Pete. "And why did they attack us"? Pete
looked away for a moment not sure what to say.

"There was a war an intergalactic one between us and a number of other
beings on the Council of Worlds. They thought they had won the war and
wiped us out. However with the help of the dragons and a few other being
referred to as beasts we were able to start over here". Pete sat nervously
waiting for Greg to respond. Greg looked at the Dark Elves and then back
at Pete. "Ok that makes about as much sense as the Dark Elves being in my
room". Pete looked relived at Greg's apparent understanding of the
situation.

"Still I have one more question for you". Pete waited for Greg to go on
already sure of what the question would be. "How do you know all this"?
Greg didn't disappoint, he asked the question Pete had expected. "I
remember our past life", he mumbled quickly. Greg looked at Pete as if he
had grown a second head. "Please tell me that's a lame joke". Pete looked
up at Greg with anger in his eyes. "No, it's the truth, I remember our
past life. And you want to know the real shitty part about this
situation". Greg hesitated not liking the fiery look in Pete's eyes. "The
Council of Worlds now knows that we aren't as gone as we were supposed to
be. Not only that they are already looking at us as some kind of power
boost for them". Greg was shocked by the anger in Pete's voice.

"Surly we aren't that great a power source", Greg said trying to calm Pete
down. Pete took a deep breath. "No it's not really us they want". Greg
waited for Pete to go on, Pete hesitated for a moment. "What do we do,
what do circles do"? Greg wasn't sure where Pete was going with his
questions. "We protect the norms from the elemental spirits". Pete nodded
in agreement before he spoke again. "Yea we do, but we also protect the
uncorrupted elemental spirits. It's the elemental spirits that they are
really after. It's them that the council are really after, think of the
potential power you could get from having an elemental spirit". Greg
looked horrified at the idea, all Fifths and Elementals knew that the
Elemental Spirits had their own realities and own existence.

"That's horrible", was Greg's response. "Why would this council let that
happen"? Pete looked down not happy with the answer he had. "We were not
strong enough to oppose them even with the aid from the Elemental Spirits
and Dragons". Greg was surprised to hear that, he couldn't help but wonder
who could be more powerful then the Dragons. "The elves control a lot of
space and they convinced the others that the Elemental realities were a
threat to us all". Greg frowned only partially understanding. "The
Elemental Spirits had given humanity gateways to their realities. We were
the most similar to them and it was against our laws to use them. Others
didn't see them as sentient. They were classified as Beast among other
creatures".

Greg nodded he sort of understood what Pete was getting at. "Now we have
to get rid of the bodies before your sister comes home". Greg nodded.
Pete focused on the bodies. It was easy enough to burn them to ash and
then burn the ash. "How long have you remembered"? Greg asked, Pete
looked over at Greg and smiled. "Only since the first day of school".
Greg shook his head and pulled Pete into a tight embrace. "Everything
makes more sense now". Pete nodded breathing in Greg's masculine scent,
gaining strength from it and Greg's closeness.

"What do we do about the others"? Pete had expected Greg to ask. In
honesty he wasn't sure what to do. "I'm not sure, they all seem so happy
now" was Pete's response. Greg could only agree with what Pete said. They
had all received the memories of their future selves when they received the
added power. As a result they had all been hardened and less innocent.
That innocents had returned. "I know but with this new threat you will
need them". Pete understood Greg's argument and agreed with it.

"I will do it as it's needed much as I did with you, hopefully it won't be
at the point of them dying". Greg grinned realising the severity of the
situation he had been in. "As long as you are around to revive us that's
all that matters". Pete thumped Greg's chest in retaliation. Greg's face
sobered understanding how hard it must have been for Pete. "I'm sorry
little one I shouldn't joke about it". Pete nodded against Greg's chest as
Greg pulled him into another tight hug.
