Pete looked at the ruins of what had once been Earth. "How much time do
you think has past"? Richard shrugged. "What about your circle can you
feel them"? Richard focused, his face went pale. "I'm sorry it can't be
easy to lose all four at once". Richard nodded his thanks. "I'm thinking
we look for Greg first". Richard raised an eyebrow. "Not for that, he
would be the only one that isn't directly controlling something". Pete
moved in the direction he could feel Greg. He didn't wait for Richard to
agree. Richard was forced to follow the younger Fifth.

Pete was worried as they got closer to one of the smaller islands. It
appeared much like any other island except it was floating in air instead
of water. "We had better stop and find out what's going on if we can".
Richard agreed, he had little choice but to agree with Pete. "Don't look
so worried Rich I'm thinking it's going to take both of us to get back to
our own time." Rich tried to smile but couldn't.

"I'm sorry Pete it's just hard", Pete frowned in confusion. He had thought
that Rich would be fine without his circle. "What's hard you have lost
elementals before? I know I killed them". Rich saw a coldness in Pete's
eyes that he had never seen before. "True but I always had my real circle
now I have no one". Pete felt bad for the guy. As they landed on the
Island he turned and looked at the man he had thought of as an enemy.
"Look I'm not going to say you don't disserve to feel that loss. Because
you do". Pete got a faraway look about him clearly thinking about his
first circle. "However I think if we can get back we can stop this".

Richard saw the determination in Pete, something that impressed him. "I'm
sorry Pete for". Pete cut him off, "Don't you dare. What you did is
unforgivable. We will never be friends. However I don't blame you
completely". Richard swallowed the fear that he felt at the cold hatred in
Pete's eyes. "Come on there is a road over there, roads have to lead
somewhere". It was clear that Pete was not going to talk about the past
any further.

The road lead to a large town. Richard and Pete entered and walked around.
"Looks normal enough", was Pete's response to the town. Richard was still
looking around critically, something was off. A small girl came up to the
pair and smiled up at them. "There's no air barge today how did you get
here"? Pete looked at Rich not sure what to say. An elderly woman came up
to the pair and little girl. "Now Beth what have I said about annoying the
air elementals". The little girl started to protest. "But great great
grandmother, there is no barge today".

The women frowned and looked at Rich and Pete. "No you are quiet right
Beth there is no barge today. Now why don't you run along and play with
the others". Pete felt it the instant the women had looked him in the eye.
"Hay Tiff", Tiff glared at Pete and then slapped him across the face. Pete
was shocked to say the least. "Don't you hay Tiff me, where have you been
for the last ninety three years". Pete felt sick and had no real answer
for his friend. "And is this him"? Tiff indicated Richard. Pete nodded,
"Come on we clearly need to have a long talk".

Tiff took them to a large house. They sat in a tidy little sitting room.
Pete looked around and could see photos of a number of children. "What
happened Tiff"? Pete asked, Tiff looked sad and defeated at his question.
"After the others came back without you from the temple things started to
go wrong".

Tiff went on to explain that it started with the increase in elemental
spirit attacks. This resulted in all out war with the spirits. It was
ultimately the war with the elemental spirits that caused the death of the
normals and the ripping apart of the world. It was as the circles were
trying to pull the world back together that the plague hit. The plague
killed Fifths. It was discovered later to be in the water. Once the
Fifths were gone then and only then did the dragons appear. At first
everyone was happy that the dragons were helping. However the dragons help
came with the cost of servitude.

"How did the dragons stop the elemental spirits", Tiff shrugged. "Where
are the others"? Tiff smiled wearily. "Greg is held as insurance for the
others continued good behaviour. Bren is at the core, Jim with the ocean,
Si and Derik are somewhere above and below the islands holding them in
place and spinning. Strong, young and beautiful as ever, they knew, they
never gave up. They knew you would be back just not when". Tiff seemed to
deflate; she was truly a very old woman now. "Rest Tiff we will see what we
can do". Tiff smiled and seemed to nod off almost immediately. A youngish
woman entered the room. She went straight to Tiff to check on her. "Don't
worry she will wake up feeling better than she has done in sometime".

The woman turned and looked at Pete and Rich properly for the first time.
She gasped when she realised who or what were sat in Tiff's sitting room.
"I'm so sorry I had no idea, you were all dead before I was born". Rich
smiled at her, "I just have to go see to the children and then I will
return". The woman said excitedly and in a rush. "Don't go there
Richard", Pete said as the woman left. "What I need a circle, I'd be
stronger and more useful". Pete glared at the other Fifth waiting for him
to think it all the way through. "A new circle would be like a beacon.
How is it that a boy makes me feel so stupid". Tiff chuckled from her
chair. "He makes everyone feel stupid, if anyone can fix this our little
Pete will". Tiff chuckled again.

Greg stood looking out the window of the apartment they had given him. He
was smiling for the first time in decades. Turning at the sound of the
doors opening, Greg was not surprised to see the dragon. "Smiles from the
Key for me". Greg laughed, "I guess not, you have never smiled at me".
The dragon suddenly stiffened. Her eyes changed from the solid black and
became a piercing blue. "Greg the time is at hand. We must be rid of the
symbioses. It cannot be done now only in the past. They must return from
when they came. The artefacts must go with them". Greg nodded once noting
that the Dragons eyes were already changing back to the solid black.

"Goodness parasite I thought you had better control over the host". The
dragons face twisted in anger. Greg just grinned at her. "I could kill
you here and now Key". Greg just calmly turned back to his contemplation
of the city outside his window. "You and your kind fucked up parasite. No
natural resources left. No fuel for your ships and the only alternative
host bodies left are unsuitable." The dragon's eyes went very round in
surprise.

"What did you think we were as short sited as you? The only positive I can
see for you is that your current host bodies are near fucking immortal.
But still you can't spread and you're stuck on this rock with us". Glaring
at him the dragon stormed from the room. "Come on Little One I know you
are back, we have work to do". Greg sent it out to his little fifth as
well as muttering the words out load.

Pete smiled as he felt the warmth and love from Greg. Tiff looked over at
her old friend. "It's time you were going isn't it", Pete nodded. Tiff
struggled to her feet and gave Pete a tight hug. "Pete stop this from
happening. Don't let this be how things end up". Pete hugged Tiff tightly
and nodded. "I will do everything in my power to make sure this does not
come to pass". Tiff nodded once and looked over at Richard. "You will
help him wont you". Rich smiled and nodded once. "This is not a world
that anyone would want to live in".

Rich and Pete knew where they were going now and some of what to expect.
Tiff had shown them a map of the Islands. There was One Island that was
lower and constructed of a rather dense metal. Pete looked at it as they
approached the city. In the centre was a very familiar structure. "I
think we found where our strange temple came from". Rich nodded his
agreement. "Are you able to mist"? Pete asked. Rich frowned for a moment
and then became a transparent mist. "Good, I don't think we are welcome
here".

The pair moved quickly in their mist form. Pete knew where to find Greg he
could feel him. Rich followed behind hoping that they were not being lead
into another trap. The pair found it easy to enter the apartment that Greg
had been help prisoner in. Greg turned and smiled as Pete's form became
solid once more. "It's about time you showed up little one". Greg pulled
Pete into a tight hug and kissed him with a ferocity and need that Pete had
never had from him before. "I've missed you too", Pete said grinning up at
his love.

Greg lead Pete to a couch and indicated for Richard to join them. "Are we
safe here"? Richard asked. Greg nodded, "Yes the parasites won't bother
me for about twelve hours". Pete and Rich were confused at why Greg had
called the dragon's parasites. Greg smiled at their confusion stroking
Pete's hair. "The parasites are using the dragon's bodies as their host".
Pete was horrified and pleased by what Greg told them. "That means the
dragons aren't at fault". Greg nodded and stood up pulling Pete with him.

"Now I have something I have to give you Pete. And I'm sorry Richard but
you can't know what it is. You understand that the fewer people who know
the better." Richard understood what Greg was saying. "Good feel free to
have a drink and get some rest we will probably be a little while".
Richard grinned understanding completely.

Greg took Pete's hand and took him into a large bedroom. He gently removed
all of Pete's clothing. He then ran his hands and lips over every part of
Pete's trim athletic body. Pete felt Greg's need. He watched as Greg
slowly removed his own clothing. His eyes were drawn to the erect penis
that was begging for attention. Without hesitation Pete knelt down and
took the hard length into his throat. Greg moaned for him it had been so
long. Pete was in his own heaven although for him it had only been a few
day. "I need to be in you Pete", Pete let Greg's hard penis out of his
mouth. He stood and walked across to the bed. Lying on his back he waited
for Greg.

Greg slid between Pete's legs. He gently lubed two fingers and Pete's
entrance. As he worked at opening Pete up he gazed at his little fifth
lovingly. Pete groaned wantingly. Greg knew Pete was ready. He slide
smoothly into Pete who sighed in pleasure. Greg set a calm rhythmic pace.
He had no intention of having a quick session. Pausing from time to time
to kiss Pete passionately. To lick suck and nibble down Pete's beautiful
neck and hard nipples.

Greg could feel his climax and knew it was time. "I'm sorry love but you
will need them all to return". Pete's eyes sprung open at what Greg said
and by the realisation that there was no longer any holding back. As he
cried out in ecstasy he felt his power return to him and something else.
Pete looked at Greg's left arm the mark of the key was gone. It was now
part of Pete's mark of the Fifth on his back.

Pete was shocked and a little put out. "Why would you do that, you were
safer with those powers". Greg could hear the irritation in Pete's voice
and see it in his eyes. "I know little one but you will need them. You
must realize that we can't fix this in the here and now". Pete nodded he
did understand that the only way to fix things was to go back. "Now we all
researched and talked about it for years. And we think that you and
Richard created this reality for some reason. Why we aren't sure or even
how. But you need it to get the fully developed symbols and the power
boost". Pete sat quietly for a moment and hesitated before speaking.

"I don't think we created this reality. I think this is what is if we
never went back. However I think we find a way. I just hope that what we
do doesn't make things worse." Greg pulled Pete to him, Pete felt Greg's
stiffening penis. "Do we have enough time for another go"? Greg just
grinned and started kissing Pete.

The dragon woke from her sleep. The host had felt something, a shift. The
host was also trying to hide it. It took three hours for the dragon to
work out what had happened. "Damn it the key is making its escape. And
the fifths have returned". The dragons were put on high alert for the
humans trying to make an escape.

The two fifths and the key heard the alarms sound. "They know don't they",
Greg nodded. He stopped Pete and pulled him into a tight hug. "I'm sorry
little one I can't go with you", Greg said in a hushed voice. Pete looked
up at Greg and shook his head not wanting to hear what Greg had to say.
"Now listen little one, I can only stall them for a very short time. Know
that I love you and have always loved you". Pete couldn't form words.

"It's too late boys, they are upon us", Rich called out. Both Greg and
Pete looked up and saw the dragons circling and coming into land. "There
is no more time Pete you have to run, you have to live. If you die here
this is it". Greg pushed Pete into Richard. "You make sure he gets to the
others or this is the future". Rich nodded and started to lead the crying
Pete away.

"Come on little one the key knows what he's doing". Pete nodded and tried
to stop the tears. At best he was able to stop the load sobs. Pete now
knew that he was going to feel the death of his entire circle. And he knew
it was the only way.

Greg readied himself if he was going down he was going down fighting. And
he still had a few tricks left. Greg focused and summoned the elemental
spirits that he had found hidden away. "It is time my friends, it is time
for some vengeance."

Pete felt it as soon as Greg died. He cried out in pain. He had hoped
never to feel this pain and feeling of loss again. If anything it seemed
worse than in the previous instants. "Come on Pete don't let his death be
wasted we have a mission to finish". Pete nodded and followed the other
Fifth.
