Hi all, I don't normally say much at the beginning of chapters. However I
wanted to thank everyone for the emails and feedback. I love to get emails
and feedback. Also I just wanted to clear up any confusion that may have
come up due to the story being based in Australia. So the school system is
year levels the high school is year's seven to twelve. Pete being year
eleven is sixteen the other four being year twelve are seventeen. If any of
you have questions about that kind of stuff let me know I'd be happy to
answer any questions.

...............................................................................

Pete heard the sound of cars pulling up. He breathed a sigh of relief.
The cars could mean only one thing. The others had returned from
assignment. Pete ran out to the drive way and sure enough two cars had
pulled into it. Rob was the first he saw, his older brother pulled him
into a tight hug lifting him clear of the ground and swinging him around.
Pete couldn't help but laugh. As Rob put his brother down he noticed a
sparkle in Pete's eyes. "I've told you not to do that", Pete pretended to
be angry. "Sure that's why you ran out here", Pete rolled his eyes and
smiled at his brother.

"Someone found himself an elemental", Nichole said with a grin. Pete's
eyes went wide, as did Rob's. "How do you know that"? Nichole just smiled
and hugged Pete, "I just do, as would any fifth it's in the way you hold
yourself". Pete grinned at the older fifth. "What's this, our little man
got himself an elemental", Dan came up from behind. Pete turned and
nodded. Everyone was happy for him making the return of the older circle
that much better.

..............................................................................

Derik gazed at the TV. He had come into the living room with his parents
after dinner. His father had already gone off to bed. His mother sat
watching him. Derik was her youngest child and the last this still lived
at home. He had also been the one to show the most talent. However he had
not become a part of a circle unlike his older siblings. She turned the TV
off and sat and waited for Derik to notice.

It must have been ten minutes later when Derik noticed the TV had been
turned off. "Why you turn it off I was watching it", he asked his mother.
His mother just raised an eyebrow, indicating she didn't believe him. "Ok
so I wasn't watching it", he smiled sheepishly looking away from his
mother. Lilly had promised herself that she wouldn't ask her son any
personal questions. However it was clear that he needed to talk to someone.

"Is everything alright Derik? You haven't seemed yourself of late. And we
haven't seen as much of the others or you lately." Derik stared at his
mother for a moment too long. It was clear she knew something was
different. "Is it because of Peter Jorcher"? It was a seemingly random
question. However Derik knew his mother nothing was ever asked randomly.
In response he nodded, "Does he want you to be part of his circle but not
the others"? Derik wasn't surprised that his mother knew Pete was a fifth.
"No it's that I am part of his circle and the others aren't", Derik's
shoulders and body slumped into the chair. "I don't think the others will
want to be in Pete's circle". Lilly knew what her son was talking about.
However she decided to let her son tell her rather than let him know she
knew.

Derik could tell his mother was waiting for him to continue. "You should
get dad before, just get him". Derik looked away from his mother. "It's
alright buddy I'm already here". Derik was startled by the sound of his
father's voice he had not noticed him returning to the living room. Derik
shifted in his chair feeling a little nervous. "See the problem with
Pete's circle is that. Well Pete's gay and so am I and the other three may
not like or understand that". Derik sat waiting for the negative reactions
he was sure were going to come from his parents.

"Derik don't look so nervous. We've known you were gay for years. We were
just waiting for you to tell us". His father placed his hands on his
shoulders comfortingly as he spoke. "And as for the others you never know
what might happen". Derik nodded and smiled at his parents it was like a
huge weight had been lifted from his shoulders. "I'm sorry it took me so
long to come out to you guys". His parents just smiled and hugged him.

..............................................................................

Jim paced around his room. Si sat on his bed watching him pace. "Sit down
and relax, so your parents know". Si was calm even though they had been
found out. Jim sat on the bed next to his boyfriend. He was soon making
out with Si now lying on top of him. "Your right it had to come out sooner
or later", Jim managed to get out between kisses. Si nodded his agreement
being more interested in kissing his boyfriend.

The pair had been in a relationship since they were fifteen. Both had been
amazed that Derik and Bren had never picked up on it in near two years.
Both had also thought that the other two might have been together. However
had decided that the other pair weren't in a relationship.

"What do you think of Pete"? Si asked. Jim looked Simon in the eyes and
shrugged. "I don't really know what to think he seems to be quiet and
weak. Why do you ask?" Si looked away with a frown. "It's just a feeling
I get from him. I know Tiff said he was an air elemental. However I can't
help but think he's not. It's like whenever he's around something feels
off". Jim looked at his boyfriend and thought about what he said. It was
true whenever he was around Pete he felt a bit off. "I don't know. But I
agree with you something is off with him. Maybe we should ask Tiff". Si
nodded his agreement to asking Tiff.

"Now you know who's been really off lately", Jim poked Si in the sides
causing the slightly smaller teen to giggle. "Yea, Derik, he's been acting
strange for like two weeks, any idea what's up with that"? Jim shook his
head and started to kiss Simon again. "Neither do I it's weird though",
was all he got out before he succumbed to Jim's kisses.

.............................................................................

Pete stood with the other year eleven biology students. Although he stood
with them he didn't feel like one of them. He wished Tiff took biology then
he would have had a friend on the field trip. The field trip was one done
every two years with both the year eleven and twelve biology classes. So
not only was he facing a day with the year elevens that ignored him. He
was also with the year twelves. Looking over at the year twelves he was
hoping to see Derik. He wasn't there, Jim was though.

Jim watched Pete look around. He couldn't help but think Pete was cute.
If it weren't for Simon he would definitely want to get with Pete. He
watched as Pete pushed some of his hair away from his face. It was cute
how he seemed to flick it without thinking. It made Jim think that the
younger teen had been tossing and flicking his hair his entire life. As he
watched Pete look around he could not help but notice that the other year
elevens avoided him. Jim shook his head at the stupidity of others. Even
stood alone Jim could see that nearly everyone looked at Pete. The amazing
part was that Pete didn't seem to notice.

Pete sat alone on the bus and just gazed out the window. The field trip
would be dull. The only positive was the trip to the beach after they were
done with the mangroves. "Is this sea taken", Pete turned and looked into
the liquid brown eyes of Jim. "Don't be stupid no one sits next to me
except Tiff", Pete smiled wearily at Jim. Jim took that as an invitation
to sit down. "Well I've always felt that Tiff has excellent taste, in just
about everything". Pete giggled, which made Jim smile, the guy had a cute
giggle. "I will let her know you said that, she would love it". For a
moment Jim saw the sadness leave Pete's stunning blue eyes. Sadly it
quickly came back. Tiff had said that Pete's parents had been killed. She
said that it had been about a year ago. However she had not explained why
Pete always seemed distant and sad.

"So why did you pick biology, it's a very earthy subject. I would have
thought chemistry of physics". Pete smiled Jim was assuming he had the
more analytical mind of an air elemental. "I do physics as well". Jim was
impressed apparently Pete wasn't just a pretty face. He grinned at Pete
which caused the younger boy to blush. "You know they are going to start
talking about us now". Jim was surprised at Pete's observation.
Apparently he wasn't as oblivious to his class mates as he made it appear.
Jim snorted, "Let them talk, it's always the same shit". Pete nodded his
agreement. He had heard all the same comments before. "But surly they
wouldn't say anything about you", Jim laughed, he had a big loud laugh.
This made Pete smile.

"I will let you in on something. The lot of them think I'm queer. Not
that any of them have the balls to say anything to me". Jim was talking
loudly enough to be heard by a number of other students. The other
students all looked away knowing Jim was speaking the truth. Pete smiled
at Jim, "Thank you for sitting next to me". Jim nodded once and smiled at
the smaller teen with glint in his eye. Jim didn't know what it was but
there was something that drew him to Pete more than just how pretty the
other teen was.

............................................................................

Tiff sat in the study room and watched Derik pace round and round the
table. "Derik, would you sit down". Derik looked at Tiff who was trying
to read her notes. She looked calm and serene as if she hadn't a care in
the world. "How do you do that? You never used to". Tiff looked at him
again with a slight frown and then a grin. "A certain short, slim, too
attractive boy showed me that it's more attractive to appear calm. All
that agitation is not attractive". Derik smiled at the reference to Pete,
who always appeared calm.

"What am I going to do Tiff? I'm now part of a circle that has no hope of
having the others in". Tiff couldn't believe how stupid the four guys she
had known for year were. "I think you will find that it works its self out
in time". Derik glared at her response. Tiff rolled her eyes, "Derik had
it occurred to you that just maybe the others are gay as well". Derik just
stared at Tiff's raised eyebrow. He them laughed, "Don't be stupid I've
seen them all checking out girls". Tiff just sat there her expression not
changing. When she did respond Derik wasn't prepared for what she had to
say.

"You are correct. I've watched all of you look at and comment on girls.
You included before and after I knew the truth about you. Do you know what
I've never seen any of you do". She raised an eyebrow expecting a response
from him. All Derik could manage was a shake of the head. "None of you,
not one have ever dated a chick. Don't get me wrong you all come across
very straight. However not one chick has been dated by you four. And yet
you all noticed Pete day one". Derik stood there looking at Tiff too
stunned with her revelation to speak.

..............................................................................

Jim and Pete had worked on the booklet for the field trip very well. Both
found the other knowledgeable in biology and relatively intelligent. Which
had made both teens happy as neither really had a friend in their biology
class. Both had heard mutters from other students about the fags working
together. Both had chosen to ignore it as they had done in the past.
Unsurprisingly the pair had drifted away from the main group and were sat
on the beach in relative seclusion. This made it easier for the pair to
speak about other things.

"So Tiff tells us your an air elemental", Pete nodded feeling guilty at the
lie. Jim looked out over the ocean and smiled to himself. "I'm water
myself, and love the beach". Pete's shoulders slumped he was felling bad
for not coming clean to Jim. And that was what made him decide to tell the
truth. "Jim I want to tell you something. I'm just not sure how without
making you hate me". Jim was surprised, however doubted that he could ever
hate Pete. "I'm not an air elemental, truth be told I'm not an elemental
at all". Pete paused clearly frightened to go on. Jim was sat wondering
what Pete was talking about. It had been clear from day one to all of them
that he was an elemental. The only alternative was being a fifth.

Jim turned to Pete with wide eyes understanding what the younger teen
meant. "If you aren't an elemental. Then, that that means you're a
fifth". Pete nodded and looked away not wanting to see Jim's
disappointment. Jim was far from disappointed. He picked Pete up and
hugged him swinging the smaller teen around. "Pete this is perfect you
have to tell the others". Pete was confused by Jim's enthusiasm. "Jim, I
am gay, I can't connect properly with female elementals". Jim just grinned
at Pete. Who was now very, confused. "Being gay is perfect for me little
one, as I am as well". Pete just stared at Jim. Could it really be true
that Jim and Derik were gay?

"Why so confused, I thought being gay was pretty straight forward. I like
boys", Jim grinned. Pete shook his head grinning as well. "Tell me did
you ever tell Derik"? Jim's attention zeroed in on Pete's comment about
Derik. "Why do you bring up Derik? Are you why he's been so off lately"?
Pete looked away not ready to respond to the real question Jim was asking.

There was a scream from off shore. A woman was looking out to the ocean
where a small child was swimming. Only the child was not swimming alone.
In the water was a large serpentine creature that was circling the child.
Pete was stunned never had he ever seen a sea serpent. As the creature
rose out off the water Pete felt hapless. Jim looked at the creature and
saw a challenge. "Can you pull the kid out of harms way"? Pete nodded and
started to form an air stream. The air stream he created easily picked the
child up and bought him to shore.

The mother of the child was that happy to have her chid on shore she didn't
even think of how he got there before she ran off with him. Jim rolled his
eyes and looked over at Pete. Pete however was distracted by the sea
serpent. "Jim will you join my circle"? Jim looked at Pete blinking
several time before he nodded. Pete smiled and then extended his mind.

Pete had always known that joining with someone who knew about it was
easier. He found it simple to join with Jim. "Use ice, serpents are still
snakes and as such can't deal with ice". Jim nodded once understanding
what his fifth wanted. It was clear to Jim that Pete didn't want the
creature killed. Without asking Pete answered his question. "It's
corrupted and needs cleansing wear it down so I can cleans it. Jim nodded
once and started his attack using ice something he had never used before
having only been able to use water.

Pete watched Jim's attacks and waited. It wasn't that long before the
creature was frozen. Pete approached it the same way as he had approached
the earth people and their dog. Using cleansing light he separated a large
water spirit from a sea snake. Both were fine the water spirit skimmed the
waves and then vanished. The sea snake just swam off.

"I'm sorry Jim I should have given you more choice". Jim grinned, he felt
stronger and more powerful than he ever felt before. Jim grinned again and
hugged Pete. "Don't worry at it, we had to do something and now I'm part
of a circle something I never thought would happen." Pete smiled at his
new elemental. It was becoming apparent to Pete that Tiff had been right
again he really needed to meet these guys.

............................................................................

Derik sat doing homework with Si. The pair had decided to work late in the
library as they waited for Jim. "Si I have something I have to tell you",
Simon turned to his friend and silently waited for him to continue. Derik
looked at Si and guessed now was as good as never. "Si, I'm gay", Derik
hung his head and didn't see a grinning Simon. "Is that all, I thought you
were dying or something. What bought on the confession"? Derik was
momentarily confused by Si's apparent acceptance of what he had said.
"Well it's going to make being in a circle with you guys a little difficult
don't you think. That's why I thought I should tell you". Si looked away
to the entrance of the library he wasn't ready to respond. He saw Pete and
Jim enter smiling. He was jealous to see the apparent closeness between
the two.

However he wasn't really surprised at Derik's confession. It was as he
watched Jim approach with Pete trailing slightly behind. Si was by far the
smartest of the group. However he felt really dumb not to have seen it
before. Pete had a glow about him. He also felt familiar to Si. It
wasn't that of another air elemental though. "Not really, when did you
become part of Pete's circle". Derik blinked rapidly amazed at how quickly
Si put the dots together. "Two weeks ago, we were attacked in a park".
Derik couldn't look at his friends, Jim were looking at the pair confused.

"What's up with you pair"? Pete stayed quiet in the background. Derik
didn't say anything. Si looked at his boyfriend and smiled sweetly.
"Nothing really Derik was just confessing his sexuality and", Si paused and
looked Pete directly in the eyes. Pete felt the colour drain from his
face. "And how he had joined a circle isn't that right Pete".

Pete ducked his head letting his hair hide his face. "We didn't have a lot
of choices Simon", Pete whispered. "We didn't have any today either". Si
quickly looked to his boyfriend with wide eyes. "He's got you as well, I
thought". Derik looked at his friends confused until it dawned on him.
Once he realized what the tension and undercurrents of the looks that past
between Jim and Si were he laughed. "Well aren't we all a bunch of
idiots", he gasped out. Si and Jim were glaring at him. "Well think about
it the three of us trying to keep our sexualities from each other you recon
Bren is as well". The other two also started to laugh at how stupid the
situation was and how typical. The three had gone through high school not
being out as a result they had not spoken to each other about the
difficulties they faced.

"So you pair are together", Derik asked his friends. The other two nodded
and took each other's hands. "And Si don't worry Pete's gay as well, I'm
sure he'd be happy to have a couple in his circle". The three turned to
Pete who had remained quiet. As the three looked at him he shrugged. "I
never thought I'd have a full circle not after the". Pete hesitated, "Well
let's just say after what happened. However Simon I will let you have some
time to think about it. I mean we aren't in the same situation here".
Simon smiled at the small Fifth his fifth.

"I don't need time to think about it, I'd love to be part of your circle".
Pete grinned he had never been in a circle with three elements. Pete once
again extended his mind and established the circle bond with Si. Pete was
stunned he had never felt so strong. The other three watched as their
little fifth glowed brighter. They could see a new confidence in Pete. As
he got his glowing back under control the other three all noticed that his
hair was longer again. "You need another hair cut little one", Derik
smiled at Pete who just rolled his eyes, as the others laughed.
