			   A thousand lives ago

I could feel the sunlight on my skin as I lay in bed, warm and
smooth covering the parts of me which were exposed to it. The silent sounds
of breathing next to me made me open my eyes. A smile creeped slowly on my
face as I saw the light of my life, my love sleeping next to me, and if my
smile was a signal to him he opened his eyes and I could see the love he
bore inside his heart, no inside his soul for me.

'Good morning lover, did you sleep well', he said and a smile as warm as
the sunlight on my skin shown on his face.

'I did, but I would have slept much better if I didn't have this strange
dream of a bear hunting me through the night' ,making him puff in
disbelief.

'I don't snore and you know that' and he grinned as he continued 'but I
know someone who keeps the whole palace in alert when he starts moaning
when I....'

He never managed to finish his sentence as he was muffled with one thick
pillow over his head.

'Do you mean thar his royal highness the prince, moans when he is enjoying
the pleasures of love making with his beloved lover and he is the cause
of...'

This time I didn't manage to finish my sentence as my mouth was enclosed
with the most beatiful lips, which I haver encountered in my life, his lips
as he kissed me passionately but caring, taking away my breath, making my
heart beats faster and thoughts of wild roses and running dears came into
my mind.

'That's better' I said when I managed to get my breath ' or I would have
had you executed'.

'I would have like to see that. How would you then explain this' and he
touched my manhood with his hand and at the same time he jumped out of bed
and run towards the private washrooms which ajourned my room on the left
side.

A soft knock on my door, made every thoughts of retaliation
impossible.

'Just a second' I shouted as I flung the covers off me and looked where my
robe had been thrown the night before during our mad love making. Finding
it was a bit harder than I thought and after a few minutes the knock on the
door repeated. Flunging my wardrobe open and puting halfways a clean one
over me, I shouted that the could come in.

The door opened before I even finished and Samara walked in. From the look
on her face I knew that what she was about to tell me wasn't any good news.

'Has it begann ?' pleading with every bit of my soul that she would say no,
but one look into her eyes made every hope shatter into millions of crystal
shards.

'It's a matter of hours my lord, I was awake last...' , a loud splash from
the washrooms made her stop and look at me with a half smile in her
face. She walked across the room and out in the balcony where she sat on a
bench made of beach wood. I followed after her and sat next to her.

For a few momments we both sat in silence and saw the world spreading
bellow us. The town of Ashmar was long, before the rays of the sun touched
the mountains across the ocean, awake and busy. People moved through the
streets and went to their bussiness or the market. Further bellow us lay
the port of Ashmar, Suntarion was it called in ancient times, sanctury of
the sunrays. Anyone could see ,even though it was full with ships, their
masts rising proudly in the sky and the flags moving in the light morning
breeze, that all sunrays seemed to gather inside the natural bay and rest
in the ligthly moving waters.

A light touch on my shoulder awoke from my reverie and as I turned Samara
was looking straight into my eyes.

'Isn't there anyway we could save us Samara' although I knew that hope of
saviour was long lost.

A single tear run from her eye across her cheek and finally fell on her
lap.

'If there was we would have found it, my Lord'

'Call me Andarion' I said and took her hand in mine 'we have know each
other for years, since childhood. As it is in a few hours none of this will
matter' I paused and took a deep breath trying to avoid to ask the one
question which tornemented my soul.

'Tomorrow, just before dawn' she said as if reading my mind. My shoulders
sacked and I almost let her hand slip mine but she hold it. Taking both of
my hands into hers and putting them upon her lap, she lifted my chin and
looked in my eyes.

'We have done all we could, the colonies are safe and will prosper with
time. The secret will not be lost and even if it is, have we taken
precautions for it to be found when it's safe and the time has come.'

she took a deep breath as if what she was about to say was difficult to
her.

'Why don't you take Merion with you Andarion and leave, go to one of the
colonies or somewhere else. You don't have to do this, go and live in peace
with him'

How could she say that as if she didn't knew, but still I loved her even
more as a friend for telling it to me, although she knew from my past
reactions how mad I had become since it was first mentioned, as well as the
other times that the subject had come up. Thous was my voice not harsh but
caring as if anger would change anything.

'You know I can't even if I wished it a million times and dreamed it a
million millions.'

After that we were silent and we just looked the bay and the town beyong
us. I don't know how much time had passed but both of us jumped when Merion
spoke behind us.

'Look what happends, I leave him alone to take a bath and he goes flirting
with the high priestress of all people' as he said that he came out in the
balcony and made a small bow infront of Samara, smilling at her as he came
up.

'Well if my love wasn't such a tease I wouldn't have to look for love and
careseness in other places.' I replied and took Samara's both hands into my
lap.

At that she rose, turned around and looked full on Merion. 'You dare
accusing the high priestries of the religion of Sunga, that she and the
prince have a love affair' as the last words came out of her mouth, her
voice was as cold as ice and Merion was moving slowly backwards till he
reached the wall and couldn't go further, his mouth making funny noises the
whole time, but the malicious glinter hadn't left his eyes.

I couldn't take it anymore and almost exploded laughing at the site of them
both.

'You fool she is only teasing you and you know that, and you Samara stop
making a terror of yourself.'

Tears were running down my cheeks from laughing so hard. Samara turned
towards me, gave me the same cold glare she had given Merion seconds ago,
before she burst laughing too, soon to be joined by Merion who let himself
slide on the tiled floor.

Time flew by and soon each of us had to go to the days work. I had
still a town to rule, Samara had her temple and Merion still had to see to
his latest recruits. Nothing was different, no signs were given and at
night as we were together in bed, holding Merion in my arms as he slept, I
remembered each momment of my life. From the days of my youth when I used
to play at the fountain in the palace west entrance or in the garden
overseeing the bay. The first time I met Samara and when she told in the
way that little girls do when they have found that they are destined to
might, who she is and what she will one day become, and how terrified she
was when I told her I was the crown prince of Ashmar.

Though that didn't stop to come to speak to me the next day and the next
and soon we had become inseperatable. Then the day I met Merion after
comming from a battle in the Middle Sea, he was still a recruit then not
older then sixteen summers and me a youth of fifthteen. I could still
remember the glitter in his blue eyes, it is as if he had never lost it as
other men do when they grow older. The first time we talked, he actually
managed to stutter when he realised who I was and then the first time our
lips touched each other. At that momment I knew I was completed, I had
found my shan, the one I would spend my life with, the one that would make
me weep when he was absent and laugh when his was there.

I never slept that night and as a light grew brighter outside I woked him
up.

'Come with me outside love' I said lovingly to him.

'Hmmm...is it time to get up' he said in his half sleep.

'Yes, it is.Come with me outside' I said as I helped him out of bed and
walked with him slowly towards the balcony.

'This light seems strange to me...it's not the sun neither the moon.' It
was not a question and I knew it.

'No, it's not love..it's not the moon neither the sun.' I chocked as I said
that and a single tear rolled down my cheek, glistering in the aerie
light. He saw it immediatly and he was instantly awake.

'What's wrong my love' he hold me tighter as a wind started to blow from
nowhere and everywhere.

'It's the end Merion.'

'What do you mean the end?'he shouted it.

'It's the end of Ashmar, the end of Menelas, the end of Romeno... the end
of Atlantis.'

He sat there holding me in his arms and stared at my face, from his facial
reaction I saw that my words had finally made sence to him.

'We must flee, take one of the ships and flee Andarion.'

'I can't...the law doesn't allow it Merion' my voice was a whisper but he
still heard me.

The town bellow was in tumult, people had awaken and were looking at the
sky, other were running away, some went to the bay and climbed on the
ships.I could see a few of them rowwing towards the open sea and I knew
that none of them would survive.None.

'Please Andarion, love you have to leave.' He pleed me.

'You have to go, Merion try to save yourself if you can....' I didn't
finish he slapped me hard on my face.

Anger had replaced his hopelesness.

'Have you lost your mind.If you die I will too, your my shan and I will
never abandom you.In life or death.'

The force he used to say those words almost made me chocke from pain and
love at the same momment.

He had known as I had.

Around us burning pieces fell in the city and some in the palace grounds,
blasting masonry and burning everything on their way, but he still held me
there, tight on his body as if to protect me from the inferno and chaos
surounding us.

'I love you Merion, allways did and I will allways do' I said and looked
into his eyes, those loving eyes that never caused anything but love to me
and happiness.

'I love you too Andarion' and he kissed me.

Around us the world flew apart, above us the sky burned and the sea burst
in flames and steam bellow us.

'We will meet again someday my love...shans never die but abide beyong time
and space and allways find to each other'

'Shans never die my love and I will find you wherever you are and you will
know me as I will know you'

he kissed one last time, savouring my love and then he let me go.He looked
towards the sky and I followed his eyes.

'We shall never die. Love never does'

And out last thoughts became a fiery of light and love. A beacon to
immortality. A monumment for all time, for ages to come and go, but forever
one.

Hello there, this is the prologue to a quite really long story. As it is my
first puplished piece of work, I would like to hear your opinion about
it. It's not going to be pure sex so you can forget about it, if sex comes
along that is only because it's a part of the theme. This is a story about
true love and about two young men who have had the fortune to find it. I
will not give any dates when the next capitel will come as I write always
on my free time and that's something which I don't often have, but for
those patient souls out there which like more a true story than a quickie I
can promise you this. I'll give my best on this work and your opinions
count.
