DYLAN

Well this was going to be awkward, neither Max or Jordan said anything
after the first hello, Jordan began to slump into a more awkward stance so
I'm guessing it clicked with him that Max was the one that brought him here
which apparently didn't go so well since Max refused to talk about it when
he got back. Max acts exactly as he looks; he's tall, jet-black hair with a
muscular build and darkish purple eyes which make sunglasses mandatory when
around the general public, his leadership technique is kind of `My way or
I'll beat the shit out of' in my case anyway, he's a lot softer with Sarah.

"Y-you're" Jordan stuttered, he couldn't even finish his sentence and I'm
pretty sure we all understood, I looked around the room to see Sarah stood
in the exact awkward pose I was standing in, whereas Max was still stood in
the doorway with chest pushed out a little and trickles of sweat running
down his forehead from the desert sun outside.

"Yeah" said Max, not sure if it was okay to smile at Jordan "sorry about
that, we've got to be careful with our real identities" Jordan seemed to
take it as a `my dog ate my homework' kind of excuse but was okay with it,
for a Giagm with a human upbringing he's certainly dealing with all this
supernatural stuff well. "Has everything been okay?" Max said as his head
turned to me.

"Pretty much" I smiled "although Jordan did go all `Great Escape' on us" I
joked about it but I was still worried, we needed to make sure he wasn't
going to try and run again, not now, it's too close to him developing.

"Would you and Dylan take a walk with me for a bit?" Max asked as his eyes
locked onto Jordan again which was responded with a kind of `are you going
to lead me into an empty forest and shoot me' kinda look -- adorable, I
couldn't help but smile, he's so human. Jordan shrugged and walked out the
door with Max, still pretty lost for words and I followed.

MAX

I could hear footsteps following me out of the door, and I was glad to get
out of that house that was overly-awkward, do you know how hard it is to
welcome someone you've kidnapped, I didn't even know how much Dylan and
Sarah had told him, I have to make him trust me, now more than ever.

"So where are we going" he smiled as he caught up and began to walk by my
side, I couldn't tell if his smiled was forced, who could blame him if it
was.

"Just over that hill" I said as I pointed to the east where there was a
long pathway of rock and stone leading to a hill of sand which had a
constant flow of cascading sand skating down its slope. "Think you can
handle it?" I said turning my head to him and smiling.
"I've just found out I'm a thingy and people are going to try and kill me
for reasons I don't understand, yeah I think I can walk up a hill." He
smiled back, at least the guy had a sense of humour, and this could've gone
so much worse so I couldn't help but have a grin on my face.

"So uh, what do you like to do" I said as we continued to walk towards the
hill, my eyes darting between the stone pavement and Jordan.

"Does it even matter anymore?" he said grumpily, my heart dropped a little
- I get way attached way too quickly.

"If it matters to you it matters" I said trying to look at his face, he was
a few steps ahead though with his face angled away from me. "All of this
stuff happening doesn't mean you're never going to whatever it is that you
used to do" he stayed silent and I couldn't see his face so I wasn't sure
if he believed me, I reached out my arm and held onto his to slow him down
he didn't fight me at all and continued to walk at my side.

We reached the top of the hill after about 20 minutes of walking and sat
down at the top, in the distance there were a few mountains coupled
together, to the left and right of us there was only more sand with cacti
randomly growing in groups. Jordan laid down on his back and covered his
eyes with his arms.

"You're gonna get sand all in your hair" I said I a batted away some that
was already crawling in around his curls "come on sit up" I smiled as I
lightly pulled him up as Dylan reached the top and sat down with us.

"So how much have you told him" I asked whilst I plunged my hand into the
sand and watched as it seeped through my fingers.

"Uhmmm, powers, abominations, guardians and his human life" he said as
counted his fingers as he said every subject "yup think that's it"

"Did you explain the process of getting his powers?" I asked as I looked at
him.

"Well" he'd clearly forgotten "I was going to but I figured I'd let you do
it since you're better at explaining it" he smiled

"Is it going to be painful" I heard Jordan ask, I span my head round and
could see the concern on his face. I looked back at Dylan and we exchanged
the same look, I didn't want to scare him, but yes, it will hurt, a lot.
And we need to make sure it goes right, Giagm are just as corruptible as
humans only the negative outcome of it is like x1, 000,000.

"It's kind of like an electric shock" I explained "At first it'll hurt but
eventually your body will get used to it"

"Great" he mumbled before rolling onto his front and resting his head in
arms hiding his face "will I be able to go back home?" he asked hiding his
face as much as possible I'm guessing he knew the answer already.

"I'm sorry but no" I said as I rubbed his back with my hand, I could feel
his body shaking and small whimpers were coming from his buried face. I
felt like a complete asshole but what other choice did I have, Dylan was no
help, he was just on his stomach with his hand on his face looking like he
wanted to help but couldn't think of anything to do or say, and neither
could I.

"It'll be okay, I promise" I consoled, it didn't work -- the keeping
continued, and all I could do was lamely stroke his back some guardian I
am. Today could've turned out a lot worse I'm just glad we have him now.
