Subject: hero in love part 1

It was strange to him how much he felt of gravity as he fell,
the heavy weight pushing on his back. it was as if the air was rushing
past his face, even though he knew there was no air this high up above
the planet. Kyle flared his aura, trying to channel, trying to expand
it, trying to slow them, or at least change their arc.

the blue of the oceans, and whiteness of the clouds far below
seemed to mock him in there serenity as he fought the out of control
monster that was the space shuttle.

	***********

Kyle had been watching watching tv with the family. " hey son,
come watch the space shuttle with us." his dad invited, so Kyle sat
down, not really caring. He'd had other plans. but what ever.

the video feed from the orbiting space station was dull, until
sometihng went wrong with one of the control thrusters on the shuttle.
Not being able to control their angle, according to the tv notes, would
most likely destroy the ship if it hit the atmosphere at the wrong
entry trajectory or something.

Kyle had made some lame excuse about calling his friend, then
he ducked out the back door, and grabbed a make shift mask and suit
he'd tried to throw together from his old halloween costume, and took
off, his aura flaring just enough to lift him into the sky. luckily it
had been big news for his area, because the shuttle was going to be
passing over the state.

***************

Kyle shook his head, trying to re-concentrate on stopping the
heavy thing behind him. he had to push.. had to redirect. if he could
just get it to slow down, he would be ok. It wasn't the heat that
bothered him, it just washed over his blue aura, a fact Kyel would have
to remember for later. But he still needed to push!!

Come on Kyle. you can do this. he thought, ignoring the site of
the clouds as they plummeted towards the earth. you can't die now!!
you can't lose!! Why do you have this power if you can't even save the
men inside? Kyle scolded himself, trying to raise the shuttles arc of
descent. at least that's what he thought it was. Kyle knew if he rolled
off the shuttle now, he most likely would lose it as it accelerated
away from him.

*****************

Kyle had been hanging out, just hiking the woods behind his
house, he'd lived there and new every inch of those woods, and the
hills around the area. oh sure, he had gone that far, but he'd camped
up there for years with family and friends. so it had surprised him one
day when he'd found a cave that he knew he hadn't seen before.

he'd walked in excitedly to see what he would find, and then
after that.. he couldn't remember. blank. something important must have
gone on then. But he couldn't remember. He'd gone back to the cave, but
it wasn't there.

Then when as he walked home, he'd tripped as he hiked down the
hill. but he hadn't fell. This bluish aura had caught him, and hung
there floating in the air.

*******************

Kyle felt the shuttle give as he forced it upwards, trying to
lessen its descent. Sweat plastered his face and his body from his own
personal exhertions as he fought to control the flaming blue aura
around him. He needed to stop it! The crewman's lives were on the line.
Kyle felt his energy flare in response to the need in his chest.

Finally after what seemed like hours, but was most likely
minutes, they crashed, and it was almost a relief to Kyle to have
something solid to push against, even though he was being driven into
the dirt and rock in front of him. Kyle sighed once the shuttle had
stopped, and hopped out, wiping the sweat from his brown. Kyle sat down
on the ground, and was surprised to hear something that sounded like
helicopters. They couldn't know that the shuttle was here already c
ould they?

And where the fuck was he? Kyle thuoght back to the TV. where was
the shuttle supposed to land? did they over shoot the land mark? he didn't
know, but he did know they didn't go over any ocean, and also kenw that
landing in a swamp was probably not on the plan either. Kyle stood up, his
feet sqelching in the mud that was filling the hole he'd left. Maybe he
should get out of here. yeah. that was a good idea. Kyel flexed his aura,
and felt it flare up. it was easier now, since he wasn't trying to push a
shuttle into it's correct course.

Kyle leaped into the air, and off he went, using the trail they'd
left as a guide. If he just flew straight, that should take him home, right?
Yeah. that would work. Kyel blitzed through the air, the ground woshing
below him. and off in the distance, he could see helicopters coming from
somewhere.

feeling playful, he swooped over them rather quickly, leaving a
wake of blue energy as he left. This was going to be an interesting night.

**********

It didn't take Kyle too long to get back to his home, after dimming
his aura and landing in the hills, then hiking back. in fact he'd taken so
little time that his parents thought he'd been in the bathroom when he
walked upstairs, after ditching his stupid costume he'd tossed on.

"fine time to take a crap," his father said, as he tucketed in his
shirt. Kyle wiped the sweat off his fore head. "must have been a doozy."
his father joked. He was a middle aged man, and rather skinny, like his
son. Kyle was afriad he was looking at himself in 20 or so years.

"so what did I miss?" Kyle asked, as he watched the tv.

"see for yourself" his mother replied, as he watched some smart
looking official speaking. the official was older, yet looked fit, and
held himself with a certain confidence.

"so what do you think happened?" the report asked an official
looking person.

"well, something MUST have slowed down the ship. this we can
tell from the fact that it did not burn up on reentry. due to tracking
satellites, and ground survelliance, also shows.. something being
involved." He was about to continue, when he was interrupted.

"our officials are recieving home shot digital video, via our
news website. we go there now to see." The news lady said excitedly.
from the look the man gave her, it was everything but exciting to him.

the screen switched to a digital shot of the shuttle, no
smaller than a fly, with a large streak of blue surrounding it, as it
coasted across the sky. "So. any comments?" asked the news caster,
after they saw it. the official looking man looked unsettled.

"as I said before, something must have slowed the shuttle down, and
the Government is working on it now as we speak."

"Well isn't that something." his father exclaimed. "they'll be
arguing this for weeks."

"Well you know how the goverment and the news is." his mother
added, as she bustled around the kitchen making dinner. " you look a
little red there Kyle. why don't you go wash up for dinner." She
suggested. "and I hope you remembered to flush this time after you
went." she added as he headed down the stairs.

Kyle rolled his eyes as he walked into his basement bedroom,
and hid his super hero costume he'd thrown together several days ago.
Kyle stuffed it under his bed, then turned to look in his mirror. why
was he a super hero? he wondered, looking at himself. a slender 14 yr
old boy looked back at him. dark hair, slender face, slender chest.
just an average 14 yr old boy. the only really cool thing about him was
 his deep blue eyes.

Why him? Kyle flared his power from his hand absentmindedly as
he thought. obviously this was for SOMETHING. it even felt that way to
Kyle. a big capital lettered word in his mind, everytime he thought
about it. He knew he couldn't do it before, so he knew it wasn't just
some wierd thing he was born with. It had to do with that cave. and he
couldn't just shoot beams until he found something, what if he broke or
destroyed whatever was in the cave?

Kyle walked back upstairs after washing his face in the bath
room. Kyle found he did feel better after cleaning up. maybe his mom
was right about some things.

Authors note. I promise I will get some boy boy action soon. right
now Kyle is more concerned with his new powers.
