Mate
`Wow this place has changed so much since we were pups!' Lisa
exclaimed excitedly. Callum had decided to take them around the city to
look around for the rest of the day. He could only smile at their awe
stricken faces from all of the upgrades brought in the new millennium. `I
still can't believe that you guys haven't been here since you were five!
How did you survive fifteen years in the forest?' he asked although he
thought that he already knew the answer. Brett shushed him for drawing a
few heads at that comment, and Anthony explained. `Even as pups we spent
majority of our times in nature. Even today we don't live in a home, we
shift and sleep in the forest. We maintain or sustenance from the prey that
we catch, and there is a fresh water river for water. We never came to the
city because there was no need.' `What about your clothes?' Callum
asked. `We normally don't wear clothes, plenty of people go hiking and
leave clothes. For Brett and me it's a bit tougher to find, but Lisa finds
clothes often.'
A part of Callum absolutely loved the idea of being one with
nature as his pack was, but the thought of leaving Mack all alone and
defenseless made him cringe. Well he might not be so defenseless seeing as
though he was some sort of magical being, and a powerful one from what it
seemed. Another thought that crossed Callum's mind was to invite his pack
to move in, but he hesitated for some reason. `ANTHONY!' yelled someone
from behind them. They turned around to see another guy with red hair and
emerald colored eyes and quite a few freckles. He stood at about 6'2 around
210 pounds and had a muscular toned body. Callum could immediately tell by
his smell that he was lycanthrope. Lisa immediately ran and gave him a hug
and Anthony had a huge grin on his face. He walked over to him and gave the
man a handshake, in which the man pulled him into a hug.
Callum just stood there confused, and Brett stood beside him
with a smirk on his face. `Long time no see Lucas.' He said. Lucas looked
up at Brett and gave him a fake pout. `I don't get a hug?' Brett gave his
usually eye roll and snort. Anthony turned to Callum `Callum this is my old
pack mate, Lucas this is my mate Callum.' Lucas feigned hurt. `Awe come on
Anthony once pack, always pack.' He said. Callum was curious to find out
what specifically happened to cause their pack to split up. Anthony looked
at Lucas curiously. `Where is your pack?' Lucas smirked. `They are in the
mall stalking some poor human. Then again he probably doesn't even know
that they're following him. All three lycanthropes knew that this had to be
Mack and Callum sprinted towards the mall with the others right behind him.
Mack was uncomfortable around all of the intense stares he was
receiving. He had accidentally collided with some tall red headed guy
earlier. Just like always when they made skin contact his eyes went blurry
for a split second and he felt a little light headed. He had no idea why it
always happened, but every time his skin made contact with someone else
these symptoms appeared briefly. After apologizing and continuing through
the mall he saw that he people who had been exiting with the red head
turned around and started following him. He could only assume that these
were hometown bullies who were upset about him accidentally bumping their
friend.
Now Mack might not be that strong, but he'd never back down
from a fight so he walked out of the back entrance of the mall and waited
for the others to follow. `Okay Mack there is five of them, but if I hit
the first one hard enough I could startle them long enough to get away' He
thought to himself. As if on cue they casually strolled out behind him. Now
that he was looking at the head on he saw how massive they all were, and he
was a bit intimidated. They continued to make their way towards him and
when one got within reaching distance he opened his mouth to speak, but
Mack never gave him a chance. He swung a huge right hook that connected to
the side of the mans jaw. He instantly recoiled holding his hand, it felt
as though he'd just hit a cement wall. The man rubbed his jaw and snarled,
but before anything else happened Callum and his pack appeared.
`What the hell is going on?!' Callum yelled. Mack relaxed a
bit, but still kept his guard up. Lucas casually strode by and stood by his
pack and said. `Calm down they aren't going to hurt them. They just want to
play.' Anthony, Brett, and Lisa stood in front of Callum, and Mack
defensively. Lucas realized that he wouldn't be able to handle the three
powerful lycanthropes by themselves let alone having the pup and whatever
Mack was back them up. He gave a small glare and then signaled for his pack
to back down and follow him. Once they left the group calmed visibly.
`Thank you' Mack said holding out his hand to Anthony. Anthony
shook it and once again Mack's eyes blurred and the lycanthropes felt a
wave of energy come from him. Mack released the shake and shook his hurting
right hand. `Man he had jaws of steel! Damn I was sure that I was toast
when they started following me through the mall. I'm glad that you guys
arrived when you did of I would have been beaten.' Brett ground his teeth
and tightened his fists. `They weren't here to fight you, they were here to
fuck you.' He said through clenched teeth. Mack gapped at that comment and
blushed harshly. He could handle someone who wanted to fight, but he had no
experience when it came to anything sexual. Anthony and Brett rode with
Callum, and Lisa rode with Mack back to their home. One they arrived
Anthony, Brett, and Lisa left, but not before Anthony told Callum to bring
Mack to the field tomorrow to meet the wolves.
`I hate you so much right now! You know that I hate exercise
and I let you drag me through the damn woods in eighty degree weather!'
Mack complained. He had to tie his dreadlocks into a ponytail for fear that
he would faint from heatstroke if he let them continue to dangle. Callum
just rolled his eyes and continued on his trail. `Mack come on how can you
be some thin and so unhealthy hurry up!' Mack made a gasp/snort
noise. `Bitch don't you think that I would if I could. You'd better be
lucky that I'm still walking, because I'm about to sit down.' Once he and
Mack had arrived to the field it was completely empty. Mack was exhausted,
but he refused to taint his outfit by sitting on the grass. Mack
immediately caught his second wind when three HUGE wolves made their way
onto the field. Before he could take off Callum grabbed his flailing figure
and kept him put.
`It's okay they won't hurt you.' Callum exclaimed. Mack was
visibly trembling, but he had stopped flailing. Callum let him go and made
his way towards the large black wolf and started petting it. Mack thought
that this was absolutely insane, but he remained still until the large
blonde furred wolf came towards him. He started backing up until his back
hit a tree and he closed his eyes as the large wolf approached him.
Brett tried to resist, but the smell that he was receiving from
Mack was absolutely intoxicating and the sweat was not helping. He watched
as Mack cringed and closed his eyes and he reached out with his snout and
licked Mack on the cheek. What happened next none of them could have
expected. Mack's eyes started glowing and his body produced a large energy
wave. He was so light headed that he fell to his knees, and the impact was
so strong that all four lycanthropes shifted. So now Mack was staring at
Brett, Lisa, and Anthony while his best friend turned into a wolf.
Quickly Callum shifted back into his human form and ran towards
Mack's fleeing figure. Once he had caught Mack he grabbed his arm, but Mack
pushed him away and continued heading back towards the house. Callum ran in
front of him forcing Mack to stop. He looked into his best friends face and
saw that Mack was crying, but he wasn't trembling. `Mack it's okay, you're
my best friend I would never hurt you...Please say something' He said.
Mack didn't know if he was more afraid because his friend was a
werewolf, or angry that Callum didn't tell him. `H...how?' He asked. Callum
immediately responded. `It was always in my, but Anthony brought it out...'
before he could finish his statement Mack had changed directions and headed
towards Anthony fuming mad.
Anthony had hesitantly trailed behind them so he knew what was
coming when Mack reached him. He braced himself for a punch, and a punch
was exactly what he received as Mack's fist connected with his
nose. Callum's wolf instincts kicked in when Mack hit his mate, and he
charged at him. Brett and Lisa ran to stop him, but they were too
late. Callum lunged at Mack and backhanded him. Mack flew back and collided
with a large oak tree and hit the ground with a loud thud. Lisa watched in
horror as Mack hit the ground and rushed to his aid while not noticing
Brett charge at Callum.
Anthony leaped in front of Callum and took the blow meant for
Callum and quickly struck Brett back. Brent tackled Anthony to the ground
as they grappled for dominance. Brett gained the upper hand and punch
Anthony in the eye and the nose. Anthony brought his foot up and kicked
Brett in the jaw at full force sending him flying through the air. Brett
landed on four legs in his wolf form and Anthony quickly shifted as well,
but before they could charge each other Callum and Lisa stepped in front of
them.
Lisa shook her head in horror as she watched what looked like
her pack falling apart. With tears in her eyes she spoke. `Stop this! We
are pack we have enough to fight against without fighting each other! How
dare you allow your prides to come before pack, both of you should be
ashamed! We are better than this, we are closer than this!' She said as
tears rolled down her cheeks. Anthony and Brett both shifted back into
their human forms panting. Immediately they embraced each other. `Never
again.' Anthony said and Brett needed no further explanation. `Never
again.' He said back.
As soon as they released their embrace Callum ran into
Anthony's arms. `I am so sorry are you okay this is all my fault I am so
sorry please say that you forgive me because I couldn't live if you said
that you were mad at me I really didn't mean to...' Callum rambled until
Anthony placed a passionate lip lock on him. Callum was so worried about
Anthony, and was glad that he was okay.
Lisa checked Brett for any extreme bruises, but didn't find
any. He did however have a very large black bruise on his right cheek, and
his face was extremely red at the moment. Anthony had a small shiner and he
was a bit swollen, but he didn't have any extreme bruises either. Lisa made
sure to smack Brett on his bruised cheek causing him to hiss in pain. `What
the hell was that for?!' He yelled. She placed her hands on her hips and
raised an eyebrow. `That was for hitting our alpha.' She responded. That
was the first time Callum had ever seen Brett put away his smug attitude
and had a sheepish look on his face.
`Yeah...um sorry about that.' He responded looking at
Anthony. Anthony nodded, but as an alpha he would not apologize as
well. Callum walked up to Brett and gave him a hug which caught Brett of
guard. Brett eventually hugged him back, but he kept a close eye on Anthony
for any signs of jealousy in which he found none. After speaking their
apologizes to each other Callum immediately swung around to check on his
best friend, and to his horror Mack was long gone.
`That stupid no good, ungrateful son of a bitch!' Mack mumbled
as he drove from their home... Callum's home and made his way towards the
town. He didn't get very far as he swerved out of the way of a deer and
wrecked his car. He struggled out of his seatbelt as he stumbled his way
into the city. As he passed some old magic shop with an older woman
standing there oddly smiling at him. He was in no mood for hospitality so
he grunted and walked past her. Well he tried, but once he got close to her
she threw some brown substance in his face. At first he was furious `Did
this madam voodoo just throw chicken dust in my face!' he thought, but
before he could react he started to feel sleepy. The last thing that he
remembered before falling asleep was looking into her smiling face.
Brett was an absolute mess once they reached Callum's house to
find that Mack wasn't there. He went searching for him, and really started
to panic once he saw Mack's totaled car a couple miles up the trail. They
had decided after searching majority of the woods to see if he had returned
home, but he still hadn't. Brett was aggressively pacing as waited...and
waited...and waited. `Enough of this you guys can sit here and do nothing,
but I'm going to go find my mate!' He yelled as he swung the front door
open. He was surprised to see a woman who looked about eighty waiting there
patiently. He was even more surprised to see Mack unconscious in her
arms. `May I come in, I have much to discuss with you...lycanthrope.'
