			     New Life Chapter 7
			The Death Of A Loved One

 I looked around and saw everyone getting into groups of five so I grabbed
Tony and we headed for Matt.  "Sorry Jay, Tony has to stay here. If he
comes along theres a chance that he could be captured and then thislittle
get together would be for nothing." He said looking from Tony then to me.

	"Alright, I understand, who's gonna be here to guard him?" I asked
looking around.

	"Chianna will guard him." He said looking over to a girl in the
corner of the room.

	"Chianna hasn't been with us that long are you sure she can take on
a group of demons if the need arises?" I asked a little scared.

	"She can make the strongest shields I've ever seen, don't worry
about him."

I turned to Tony and looked him in the eye, "Tony, Love, its too dangerous
out there, I need you to stay here with Chianna, she'll protect you while I
can't. Do you understand?"

	"I understand, but please come back fast ok?" I hugged him and
walked out the door.
 I was joined Matt's team. It was Matt, Azriel, Terra, James, and I. Az and
I really hit it off when I first came to the school. The second day there I
met Az, his sister Terra and his boyfriend James, I remember thinking, damn
is everyone here gay? Anyways Az was 5'11 and 186 lbs, he had the basic boy
next door look with his blonde hair and blue eyes, tight body and the sexy
slant of his hips. His lips were so pink, I thought he was wearing
lipstick. Now he was a powerful man. 6'4 230, he had the physique of a body
builder. That day when I first met him, we started talking about everything
imaginable and I became part of the gang. Once we graduated the school I
only saw them on official meetings and the more important training
exercises.

"Matt where is our target located, and why did we all split up?" I asked in
the car.


	"We've broken into groups to surround the nest, its better to
surround the place instead of bum rushing the front door because if its
laden with traps only a few die." He said driving faster.

	"Oh...well...ok" I said sitting back against the seat.

	About thirty minutes later, we had made our way to the center of
the old city, about ten years ago there were fires that all but gutted
every building in the downtown area, instead of rebuilding in the original
area, the construction crews were told to start building miles away from
the original city, anyways it is here in the old city where we believed the
demons were held up in the only building that hadn't fallen yet.  We pulled
over to the side of the street and got out.It was the middle of the night
and it was hard to see. There was enough light tho to see all the dark ash
still on the ground from the great fire.

	"Whewy, when's the maid get here hehe" James said looking around.

	"Be alert James, this isn't a great place to fool around, everyone
who comes out here is never seen again or they come back completely scared
out of their minds." Matt said looking around and clutching his spell book.

	"Look Matt don't be so drastic, they're just a few demons, we've
been fighting them for years. Remember that war demon I took care of in my
third year at the school?" James said looking over at him with a huge grin
on his face. He was a real looker, it surprised me that he and Az had been
going out for so long, but at the same time Az would have been a fool to
let him go. He was only 6' but he was so muscular and his blue eyes made
the sky look grey, the black hair that grew down to his butt gave him an
exotic look, his skin was lightly tanned and was the color of gold. He was
a looker. I watched as he walked around looking into the nooks and crannies
of the fallen building we stopped by.

	"It seems like they were expecting us and left." He said as he
looked into the sky and smiled.

	"They must have heard I was coming" he said and laughed a loud and
strong laugh that seemed to go on forever.

	"Sorry hun but you were wrong, the talisman shows that they are
here but are hiding." Az said looking at a map he had laid out.

	"One of them, a BIG one is on the move towards us, I think we
should get ready for the fight to begin." He said getting up and readying a
firespell.

	"Brother, I think this area has seen enough fire, try using a wind
spell, if you do then we can blind the monster and keep ourselves from
being seen." Terra spoke up from behind us all.

	"I guess that makes sense. Ok...there it is!" he tried to whisper
as loudly as possible.

	I called out to the night to blanket us in her shadows, Terra
called on the moon to give us light that only we could see. Matt opened his
book and used a communication spell to let everyone know that we were
getting into our first fight. The demon came closer and closer we weren't
to move or fight unless it couldn't be helped. The demon bumped around
unknowing until a gust of wind carried our scent to him. He reared back and
in the magickal light I saw him, his skin was a sickly green and yellow it
spread over most of his body, there were spines on the top of his twisted
and gnarled head, they grew all the way down his back. He had two arms at
the end of these arms were talons connected by only a small amount of skin
and muscle, its underside was covered in putrid brown scales, they looked
like they were secreting some kind of liquid. His legs...if you could call
them that, were cloven hooves that clicked and clacked on the ask covered
concrete.

	His outburst so frightened everyone that James fired off a blast of
fire, Az let go with his wind spell and the two mixed in a burning
twister. We had just enough time to get away before the Demon caught hold
of us.

	"SODRATELL!" I blasted him with a spell of frost and froze his
hooves in place.

	"TIRENTIA!" Terra came around and launched a cutting wind attack at
the demon and split it right down the middle.

	"Good Job everyone, lets head further in and..." Matt's words were
cut short as a razor sharp claw ripped through the front of him. In our
haste we had not noticed that another demon had come along and was waiting
for us to turn our backs.

	"GRESHINDARATEL!!!!!" I screamed at the top of my lunges. A portal
opened up behind the new demon and pulled him in.

	"MATT HANG ON MATT PLEASE!!!" I screamed running forward joined by
the others.

	"Oh goddess do not take this your child, his work is not done. Let
your power join with mine and may I heal his wounds. VITAMIL!" I yelled. It
was in vain. Matt died before I even reached him.

	"NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" I looked into the sky and
blew up, I sent as many homing fireballs as I could muster into the air
around me, everyone else got down as the place seemed to explode all around
us.

"Whats going on????" It was a telepathic call from one of the other groups
asking what was going on, I told him to alert all the other grous to get
back to Matt's house.

With that I wrapped every one in my group in darkness and teleported back
to the house.

"Tony?" I called before the darkness had dropped. Then my eyes were filled
with the sights of blood smeared walls. I saw Chianna in the corner
again. Her head was slumped to the side and blood trickled down her
chin. She looked up and with words barely audible mumbled "They Got Tony."
Before her head fell to the side once again and she was quiet.
