Lan entered Pon's room.
"Lan, we are converting cavern seven into a sort of park for
Peabody. We're naming it Peabody's Park. We will have trees,
grass, flowers, a path for walking, and Ban is considering
putting in a pond."

he had a tree he was fond of in a park across from his house.

Fortunately there is another cavern below it and we can dump
excess rock into it as we work. Ban is working on lighting. We
now have air in the tunnel to the cavern. I have started cutting
channels for water. The others are working on the ground,
leveling and digging holes for trees. I am testing some seedlings
in Martian soil. If they grow, we are in luck. Otherwise we will
have to bring a lot of soil from Earth."
"Are we going to make the roof blue?"

wants to put furniture in there and maybe eat some meals there.
He said it needed trees."
"Well, we are on the right track with Peabody's Park."
"I am going back to the pool now."
Pon nodded.

Mun walked into the pool room. Lan moved to the side of

"I am going to get a scanner from the clinic." Lin left.
Lan was worried for both Peabody and his baby. Was Peabody's

"Can you tell what's wrong?"
"Nothing looks abnormal."

"Did that help your headache?"
"Yes. It's gone."
"Peabody, your blood hasn't changed and I see nothing out of
the ordinary. There are no signs of infection. I think you
overextended yourself. You didn't have to make everyone happy in
one day."
Peabody sighed. He thought Lin was probably right. He had
done a lot and he wasn't used to it. He wasn't sorry, but he
decided to take things slower.
"Do you feel like eating?"
"No. I'm not hungry at all."
Lan felt helpless. He would have tried to make Peabody's
favorite food, but he did not even know what it was.
Peabody fell asleep. Lin motioned Fon and Lan to follow him.
They walked to their meeting room. Once they were seated, Lin
asked Fon what had happened.
"Peabody called me and said he wanted to see me. I was so
excited. We went to Mun's room because Peabody didn't want you to
interrupt us." Lin and Lan looked at each other. "Peabody sucked

he was going back to his room. He stumbled and I caught him. Then

"Did you notice him behave differently?"
"Different than what? I haven't spent any time with him, so I
have nothing to compare."
"Is it the young?" Lan asked.

them, there would be signs in his blood. I think we need to
remember that he has health issues. He seems healthier than he
is, and his body is adjusting to a different planet and our
developing offspring. We need to try to prevent him from
overextending himself."
"Yes, that makes sense," Fon said. "I didn't know!"
"Fon, you did nothing wrong. You heard what Peabody said. He
wanted it. We just have to be careful not to ask too much of him.
And we will probably have to say 'no' occasionally, or maybe just
'later'. I realize that is difficult for all of us, but we could
make him seriously ill."
Fon nodded.
"I will head back to Peabody's Park. There is a lot to do.
Will you let us know how he's doing?"
"Of course. Don't worry. I really don't think it is anything
other than the fact that he isn't strong and he has tried to do
too much."
Fon left and Lin and Lan walked back to Peabody's quarters.
Peabody was still asleep. They laid down on each side of him and
worried.
