baby. He hoped it was Dregor's.
"You are rich now, Daniel, I think," Tim said.
Hephin nodded.
"We have a wealthy pack. Each member gets a little money,"
Hephin said.
"A little!" Max said. "Is he getting the same as the rest of
us?"
"Yes."
"Ten million, Daniel," Max told him.
"Shit! I knew this was a dream!" Daniel said.
Several of them laughed.
Daniel stared at Hephin. "Why?"
"Because I am rich and you are my lover. I pay by the sperm
cell."
They all laughed.
"Actually, it is Dag's money. He has a little more than he
needs."
Dag laughed.
"A bit more."
"I don't really understand," Daniel said.
"Dag, do you want to tell his your story?"
"Sure. I am not pack Vin-Ta. I heard about Hephin and his
father through some acquantances who have acquantances in this
pack. I very much want a child. I contacted Alaphin, who told me
that Hephin and his father Rince were his son and grandson, as
well as members of his pack and they would be bearing kids for
his pack members. He told me he had friends and relatives who had
waited as long as I had for a child. He told me that if I wanted
to have one anyway, Hephin might consider it for at least three
billion dollars."
Daniel's mouth dropped open.
"I was really pretty disgusted, but I came down here to meet
Hephin. I fell in love with him and went from being disgusted to
being madly in love in about an hour."
Several of them laughed.
"Hephin was already pregnant, but he allowed me to try to
impregnate him-for free-that same day. It worked and I pretty
much became a member of his pack at that time. Three billion
dollars is not enough for me to worry about. He never did make me
pay it, but I gave him and the pack money, anyway. I am also
building our very secure new pack home down the road and paying
part of the cost of securing Alaphin's pack land. Since Hephin
will be spending a good deal of time here, it needs to be secure,
too."
"Security is important, because there are a lot of Vin-Ta who
are desperate enough to do anything to get me to bear them
children," Hephin added.
Daniel shook his head.
"Now, I want to spend some time with our kids," Hephin said.
"Will, will you show Daniel around?"
Will grinned. "I would be delighted."
