Subject: "The One" Chapter 6

I have been so busy getting ready for my trip, I almost forgot to post
this.  :)  I will be out of town for the rest of this week, but I'll try to
post chapter 7 from afar!  Please keep the comments and requests coming!

The One
Chapter 6

	After a bit more cuddling Marco and I went out for our evening
meal.  We ate fast food tonight, because we hadn't had a burger in a while.
After eating our oh so healthy meal, we headed back to the hotel room.  I
was exhausted, and Marco was pretty sleepy himself.  We decided to turn in
early.  During the night I had the dream again, but it was no clearer this
time than last.  What did it all mean?

	Tuesday morning arrived all to soon.  I was not ready to face
today's plans.  But I knew it was time to pull my surprise on Marco.  Time
to meet mom!  This could turn out many different ways.  One or both could
hate each other and the day would be shot, or they could love each other
like I do them both, and the day go by wonderfully.  I was hoping for the
second, but preparing for the first.  My mother has never liked any of my
boyfriends!  True she's never been rude to any of them, but it would be
nice if she liked Marco.  I crossed my fingers when I was having these
thoughts.  I told Marco I had a surprise for him, and he seemed to go crazy
at that.

"What's the surprise?  You have to tell me!  I have to know!"  He never was
real good about not knowing secrets.  But I wasn't going to let him know
that easily.

"You'll find out soon enough."  I said with a smile.

	I chose to skip breakfast because I knew mom would want to cook for
us.  It made her feel important.  After all she misses her baby.  I can't
believe she moved to the moon in the first place.  It was so crazy!  Oh
well, if it made her happy, I was fine with it.  I just hope everything
goes good today.

	We arrived at gate of Crater Mansion the largest estate on the
moon.  Oh I guess I should have told you my mother is one of the richest
persons in the whole solar system.  Yeah she is the descendant of that
Douglas person I was talking out.  I guess I was being vague about that,
because I didn't want you to know I was loaded.  Some people see my wealth
and think I'm a snob.  That's not true, I don't look down on anyone.  I'm
no better than anyone else is, and I just wanted you to get to know the
real me first.  Yeah my full name is Nova Leonard Douglas.  Please over
look the middle name!  Anyway, Marco didn't know I was rich either, and the
look on his face was priceless.

"Nice house isn't it?" I asked.

"Yes it's quite amazing!  Whose is it?"  He asked.

"Well, it's my mother's house." I responded.

"But...but you live in a small apartment building, and your mother's in
there?  I don't get it!" He said shocked.

"Well, I don't like to be too flashy, and besides Mom is the one that likes
big houses, not me."  I answered.

"When were you going to tell me you were rich?"  Marco asked.

"I don't know, now I guess."  I started laughing.

"So what are we doing here?  I don't know what to do in a big fancy place
like this!"  He responded.

"And besides that, with all the laws against unfair pay, how did she manage
this?  Did she rob a bank?"  He asked.

"Well, the laws do provide for equal pay, but no one can take way what you
already have.  And we are what you would call old money.  You know those
handy little transports that we use oh so often?" I asked.

"Yeah, so?" he asked.

"Well, my great, great, great, etc. grand father invented it.  He made
enough money off the damn thing to buy the earth.  But he was a lot like
me.  He believed in moderation.  So he invested the money wisely.  People
were buying his invention all over the place, even some people came from
other solar systems.  It was pretty much how we got to know the other
races."  I answered.

"So not only are you rich, your family is famous as well?" He asked.

"Yeah, sort of.  But that was so long ago that most people don't even pay
us any attention.  Which is fine with me.  I prefer to make my own way, and
spend my own money." I said honestly.  And it was true.  I hadn't lived on

	I finally calmed him down enough to enter the house, but he was
still nervous.  I tried to tell him he didn't have to act any different

all.  Mom, despite her love of big houses, was pretty much down to earth.

	When we entered the front door we saw that there was a note on the
board.  Mom had a big board thing in the first room where she put up notes,
and pictures the grand kids had drawn and what have you.  This note told us
she was in the kitchen making breakfast.  How did she know I was coming?  I
wondered.

	But as I made it to the kitchen that answer came to me.  There was
Tom and Luna eating a nice breakfast.  I went to Mom and gave her a big
hug.  She was very excited to see me.  I introduced her to Marco and to my
delight they got along great!  I was very pleased and the breakfast was the
best.  Mom fixed a wonderful variety of breakfast foods.  Eggs, Gravy,
biscuits, and sausage were all on the menu.  I was glad to be home.

	After breakfast we all retired to the living room to have a nice
chat.

"So where did you two meet?" My mom asked.

"Well Ms. Douglas we met at the Cluster 369 gay chat room.  I was chatting
with a few friends when he came in to comment on a story I had written.

room.  I had posters of all my favorite classical artists.  Including some
new posters I had mom have the help put at my request.  I had managed to
snag some Backstreet Boys posters.  I must say I was starting to like their
stuff.  I really dug that song "The One".  I just felt like someone should
write a story based on it or something!  Well, to make a long story short,

them for a bit, since I hadn't got to study them that much when I bought

went by smoothly enough.  Soon night was coming upon us, and Marco and I
took advantage of watching a moon sunset.  It was very romantic.  We all
headed in for the night, mostly because we all wanted to spend some time to
ourselves.

 	We retired to my room to watch my favorite movie, Beautiful Thing.

energy at Xsar.  But fortunately for Xsar, he dodged just in time.

"Listen human, I don't like it anymore than you, but his majesty wishes to
make a deal with you."  Xsar stated.

"Fine, I'll humor you, but make it fast!  I have no hang ups about blowing
you to bits."  He said.

"Well, his majesty knows about your plans to take over the solar system.
And he feels like an alliance of our forces would benefit both sides.  We
could rule the solar system together."  Xsar stated.

	This surprised Kelvin.  How did they know about his plans?  But he
was also very shocked by the offer.  It wasn't all a bad idea, but he knew
the evils of the Biapeds.  They would stop at nothing to kill all the
humans in the process!  Then what, rule a dead solar system with a bunch of
hairy beasts?  That wouldn't do at all.  But then again he could not pass
up the offer for an instant army.  He decided to play along with them, but
at the right time he would turn on them!  'It's brilliant' He thought.

"I think we can work something out."  Kelvin said.

"That will be fine human, you are smarter than you look."  They shook on
it.

Feeling Xsar's hairy hand made Kelvin already doubt his decision.  Had he
sold his soul to the devil?  Only time would tell.  All Kelvin knew was
that life was about to get very interesting.
