Subject: The Sierra Cats Chapter 3

Ok I know the first two chapters are short and not that good, but I hope
this chapter will be better. I decided to skip the chapter with Stephen and
cut right to this spot. The sherif of Carson City is Kenny Furlong but this
is completely fictional

I sat behind a desk in a large room with square windows and a ceiling about
three stories high. The door curved out in a half circle of solid inch
thick glass. I glanced at the clock on the wall 3:55. Man time goes slow
when you are waiting for something. I glanced down at my left hand and saw
that my ring was badly damaged. I looked at my computer screen and checked
the cameras. Nope nothing going on. Wait I see him trying to sneak up on
me! On the screen 8 saw he was tiptoeing right around the corner. I whirled
myself around to see the hallway and there he came, thinking he was soooo
sneaky!

"Aw man, You saw me!" Jeremey cried as he came around the corner.

"Yes I did" I said with a chuckle "You are not gonna catch me agian! Last
time was only because I went to the bathroom!".

Jeremey moved to the front of the desk and rested his elbows on it. He had
on a black security guard uniform and a badge which said : "Carson City
Guard". "Yeah I guess it is hard to sneak up on the man who has eyes all
over the complex!". He said in reference to the security camearas.

"Yes it is sweetie" I said standing up and poking him on the nose.

"Any ideas what you want to d for your birthday?" He asked. I thought about
it"22, I was turning 22 the day after tomorrow!".

"Nope, haven't the slightest, you will just have to pick for me!" I said
with a smile

" aw love, I don't know".

"That's ok, but you still have to pick!" I said with a laugh.

"Alright I'll pick" He said with a sigh.

"Good! I'ts settled then!"

We stopped talking and just stood thinking. My eyes fell to his and we
gazed into each other's eyes.

"Babe, can you believe we've been together for almost 6 years?". I said.

"It seems like it was yesterday, but the events of several lifetimes have
already happened".

"Yeah, But I love you more each day!" I said leaning closer to him.

"As I do you" He said and he gently pressed our lips together. I chewed on
his lower lip and we made out for a few seconds when a "ghhpgh" rang across
the room. I jumped back and gasped with suprise and then a sigh of relief
that it was only my co-worker Dallas.

"I'm sorry" he said blushing profusely"I was uh sopost to uh wait what was
it?". Dallas was always forgeting things.

"Wait! I remember!" he said proudly" I'm supposed to watch the camereas for
you so you can get off of work early!."

"Yes, that is correct" I said "Thanks".

"No Problemo!" Dallas said "I've always wanted to do the cams!"

"Uh,ok" I said hesitatinlgy.

"Where you going babe? " Jeremey asked standing up.

"I going back to the refugee camp" I said gathering and cleaning up my
things "Garaza always needs help there".

"What time should you be home at?"

"Oh about 7"

"Ok I'll make sure dinner is ready then".

"Ok love ya" I said as I walked around the desk and gave him a quick kiss.

"Love you too" he said as he resumed his duties.

I walked to the big glass door and went outside as I shut it I saw the
engraving "The great seal of the state of Nevada". I sighed as I saw it. So
much had changed since then. I began to think of how it went.

Shortly after I shifted first then Jeremey shifted into leopard as well. I
thought of the good times we had rolling around, climbing, and well fucking
like rabbits under the moon. I later found out that the gene for shifting
only came out when you had relations with your true soulmate. When I was 17
I told my mom and dad I was gay. At first they were shocked, but they came
around and all is well between us. Same thing for Jeremey. We got married a
week after I turned 18. Then things went bad. A worldwide economic downturn
had shattered the world's economies and the USA began to implode. Multiple
factors contributed to the chaos. As the US went down rebellion's took
place across the US. Sonn the country was gone. Two criminal type gangs
began fighting all over the west. The Ilimni and the Caimens. In thier
fighting they reduced Las Vegas to a smoldering piece of rubble.

The Ilimni were based out of Utah and were mostly Mormon. The Caimens had
thier HQ in LA. The two groups were constantly fighting each other. At
first Carson City was quite but when Ilimni supporters launched terrorist
attacks the police cracked down. Sheriff Furlong and the police succesfully
removed the Ilimni from the city. Then the Caimens tried. They launched
attacks against the police and hastily formed militia. Somehow they always
knew how to evade and defeat our forces. The sherrif continued the struggle
against them but the Caimens still gained ground. One day someone spotted
the mayor handing a paper to a unknown man and found out that it was
information for the Caimens! When his hit the news mobs of enraged citizens
took to the streets and literall chased the ex-mayor out of town!

Sherif Furlong commanded the Militia and police force in the battle of
mount Mclelan. We hd a major victory which drove the hated Caimens out of
the city. Carson City became a beacon of hope for those whose lives were
destroyed by fighting. Reno is currently gripped with ffighting between the
Caimes and Ilimni. Carson City, Lyon county, and Douglass county banded
together in a mutual defence pact. Sherriff Furlong occupied Washoe Valley
and escorted refugees from strife torn Reno to Carson City. Elections were
to be held to refill the position of mayor but the people of Carson City
said that they wantd Furlong to be the King of Carson. He had no children
so thier was no apparent hier to the throne.

I continued walking up north from the state capitol and got to the refugge
camp. "Every day it gets larger!" I thought. It was a sea of tents. People
ran about there was children screaming, baby's crying, and a lot of
fighting in the camp. I heade tward the big tent in the middle. I entered
and it was really ho in there!

"Garaza, I'm hear to help you." I said to a man moving boxes around.

"Brad!" he said turning around "your here again! I thought I told you no to
come back!".

"Yes you did". I said " but you said I shouldn't come back because I was
working too hard!".

"Ok! Ok! You got me!" he said with a chuckle "there is not much you can do
right now. A group of school children came earlier and set everything
right".

"Alright" I said resinedly "Is there anything I can do?"

He walked close to me and said "I've got a boy who needs a home. Both his
parents abandoned him in an attempt to escape on that plane" The plane had
landed in Reno and tried to elp fleeing people but just as it was preparing
to take off fighting broke out at the airport and all the passengers were
killed.

"Serves those parents right" I said.

"Yes, but he needs a home. He really is such a kind and caring little boy
when he gets over his grief".

"Alright I'll call Jeremey" I said may I use your landline?"

"Yes its right over there" He said as he carried boxes out the tent door. I
walked over picked up the phone and dialed Jeremey's number.

"Hello?" I heard his voice.

"Hi love!" I said

"Brad! Why are you calling? Is everything ok? Your voice is shaky!". I was
really excited about adopting a child and I was trying to supress my
excitement.

"Yeah everthing is ok but Garza he well askmed if since there wait school
children" I said in a rush

"Brad talk slowly please".

"Ok, Garaza told me there is this boy and both his parents were killed in
the plane. They abandoned him!" I said nearly crying " This little boy
needs a home and Garaza asked me if we could take him."

"Of course " Jeremey said but then he lifted his voice lower" We've always
wanted one!"

"Yeah"

"I'm just getting off work. I'll go up to the camp and meet him".

"Ok love ya" I said

"love you too".

I put the phone down and hung up. I walked out of the tent. Looking for
Garaza I walked around the tent and he had his ear to the tent wall. His
back was to me so I slowly crept up on him. "Boy it wuld be nice if the
wall was thinner" Garaza mumbled to himself " I really hope he accepts that
poor little boy". I crept up closer and closer. I walked up to him and
tapped him on the back.

"Aaaahhhhh!!" he screamed as he jumped aside, tripped over his boxes and
fell on his bottom to the ground. He looked at me and just blinked.

"Garaza!" I said trying to suppress my laughing" you've been such an
eavesdropper since we were in high school!"

He just stared at me and . He gave me his very ashamed look but it looked
much more like the sucked on a lemon face!

I burst out laughing and soon he joined in.

"So you little eavesdropper that couldn't hear a word. Where is the boy
at?"

"Justin is just over here" he said pointing to a tent about 30 feet away. I
walked over to the tent. An elderly woman was standing there and a boy
about 7 years old with brown hair and blue eyes and a wiry frame. Justin
was picking up the woman's knitting kneedles.

Garaza came bounding around the corner tripped again and fell into an empty
firepit. I ran over and pulled him out. His face was black with charcoal
and his tongue was just as black.

"Young man!" the elderly woman said walking up to him and shaking here hand
with her index finger pointed at Garaza "that is the third and final time
you've given me a heart attack! I want no more of it! Do you understand?!"

Garaza vigorously shook his head as the lady turned around grabbed a glass
of water and threw it in his face. He couphed and choked for a minute (He
was faking it) then he said "I'm sorry Grams i'll not do it again"

"Good! you better not or maybe next time I'll grab the teacup instead of
the water glas or the soda yesterday or the coffee the day before!".

During the whole scence Justin stood there watching untill "Grams" finished
the lecture then he started lauphing.

Garaza composed himself and said gravely" Dear Grandmother. Matriarch of
the camp. Custodian of charity and cookies" he winked "This young man"
pointing at me " and his partner have to take Justin into home".

When finished with the oratory Grams walked up to me and whispered in my
ear "take good care of him. He is a little boy"

"I will" I whispered back.

Justin ran over and gave Grams a hug " I love you" he said.

"I love you too" she said in a trembling voice "visit me often please".

"I will. Cross my heart".

"Now run along" she said wiping a tear from her wrinkled face.

He ran over to me grabbed my hand and dragged inside Grams tent. "I like
you" he said "It is very nice of you to take me" he said facing the wall
"please don'tleave me" he said in a shaky voice. I could hear him
sniffling.

"I will never leave you" I said with a lump in my throat.

"Cross you heart?"

"Cross my heart!".

He turned around and gave me a big hug.

"I've gotta get my stuff" he said and grabbed a little bag and his pillow.

"Ok lets go!" He said, dragging me by the hand outside "Bye Grams ! Bye
funny guy!" he yelled as he ran with me him. He pulled me all around the
camp showing me all the different things he liked to do. We walked to the
enterance. I marveled at how intelligent he was.

We sat on the curb talking when he said "who is that?" pointing to Jeremey
as he approached.

"Thats my spouse Jeremey" I said.

The shocked look on his face told me he had not heard the nicest things
about gays. He looked away and wrinked his face. I could tell he was having
a mental debate.

"That's ok I still like you".
