The Unknown Power
Chapter 1: Change in life.

From Drakes view

Momma walks into my room and says, "Time to wake up Drake it's nearly time
for you to go train with your father"

"I'm up, I'm up" I groaned sitting up in bed

Momma laughed and said, "You better get dressed, then come down for
breakfast. You know what your father is like if your not on time"

I nodded and waited for her to leave to go wake Mike, before I got out of
bed because I don't sleep with any thing on. I walked to the mirror and
looked at myself for a second. I am seventeen years old at 5 foot 11, weigh
around 75kg. My body is toned not to much just enough to see a six pack,
with I light trail of blonde hair leading down to my pubic hairs witch
there where not many of because I trim them down every now. I opened my
cupboard to get my clothes so I could get dressed, not sure what type of
training we would be doing today I got a pair of track pants and a tank top
out just incase.

When I got down stairs after dressing I saw that Father was there eating
his breakfast, he looked up at me walking in and said, "Ah Drake you're
awake, have a good sleep?"

I just nodded as I was getting my breakfast, I had coco pops. About ten
minutes later Mike and Momma walk in with Mike rubbing his head, I asked,
"What happened?"

"Momma hit me for not getting up when she said to" He answered.

I couldn't say anything because I was laughing, I was laughing so hard that
I nearly fell off the chair. Momma walks up to me and Gibbs slaps me, now
Mike and Father where laughing at me. I just looked at Momma and said with
a smile, "You witch and a half"

She smiled back and said, "Thank you"

Witch made everyone laugh, when I had finished my coco pops I looked up at
the clock and saw that it was only going on seven am, I looked at Father
and asked, "Do I have enough time to go for my morning run or is training
starting now?"  He looked at the clock as well and said, "Go but be back in
half an hour"

I walked out front of our house and saw that Markos was just about to leave
for his morning run so I jogged up to him and asked if he wanted someone to
run with him, he said, "Yeah sure why not"

We ran around the corner and I started to notice that someone was following
us so I asked Markos, "Have you noticed that we are being followed?"

He nodded and said, "He has been following me each morning for the last
couple of weeks"

"Do you know who it is?" I asked

Shacking his head no in response, I looked back but didn't see anyone there
but knew someone was there some where, so I said running into a friend's
yard, "Back in a sec"

I waited at the door looking at Markos who had a confused look on his face
I just waved saying bye at witch he kept running and after about a minute I
saw someone run by, so I followed again and saw that it was his younger
brother Declend. I yelled making Declend jumped and Markos run back to see
what was wrong, when Markos got back he found Declend hitting me and me
laughing my ass off because I scared the hell out of his brother.

Declend after hitting me about twenty times started laughing as well
saying, "You bastard Drake, where did you come from?"

"I went into Jakes yard and waited for who ever was following Markos and
I. so has it been you all this time?" I said

He nodded and Markos shacking his head in disbelief that his own brother
had been the one following him. After about twenty minutes later we where
back at the front of his place and I said, "Catch up with you later guys"

They both nodded as I headed home, as I was walking in the door Father and
Mike where just about to walk out so I left with them. As we got into
Fathers car Mike asked, "Where are we going Father?"

Father pulled the car out and started to drive without answering Mike's
question, at the end of the street we turned right and I knew where we were
going, we were heading towards Pops and Grans place witch was about two
blocks away. I just smiled it had been a couple of weeks since we had been
there and I missed both of them a lot. When we where about two houses away
I started to get a little jumpy as I wanted to get out and run the rest of
the way, once Father had pulled into the drive way and stopped the car I
was the first one out and at there front door within seconds.

Gran opened the door; she jumped when I hugged her and smiled when she
realized it was me. That's when I saw Pop walking down the hall I ran past
Gran and Pop braced himself for me to hug him but all I did was shake his
hand, witch made him laugh and pull me in for the hug and said, "You know I
always want hugs from you young man"

I laughed and nodded but pulled away once Father walked in, Father saw me
and smiled. When Mike walked up to Pop he hugged him and said, "Hey Pop
how's you doing?"

"I am good young one, how are you?" Pop asked

He smiled and said, "Yup good just bit bored with Fathers training"

Father looked as if he was going to burst from all the anger you could see
on his face all Pop did was point and laugh at his son saying, "You look
like your mother when see is pissed at me for not putting the seat down on
the toilet"

That made Gran pissed at him and Father laugh, I grabbed Mike and backed
away from Pop because Gran was closing in from behind him and by the look
on her face she was going to kill him, as soon as Pop saw that we where
backing up he knew he was in trouble but not from whom it was. I gasped at
what Gran did, not that it was that bad I was just not expecting what she
did, and she kicked him in the nuts. All four males in the house felt the
pain even though three of us didn't get kicked. Pop keeled over in pain and
yelled, "Of all the things you could have done and you kick me there you
old?.."

Father cut him of by saying, "The boys are here remember dad"

Pop looked up at us and said, "Sorry boys but your Gran is a bitch at
times, and son that is all I was going to say"

We all laughed at that even Gran laughed at him, I walked into the kitchen
and got a drink for everyone, took them to the lounge where Father and Pop
were talking about something and Gran was showing Mike one of her new TV
series she had gotten at the shops, Highlander. I love those movies even
the TV series.

I walked over and asked, "Gran can I borrow that some time please?"

She handed it to me and said, "You can watch it later tonight, you boys do
know that you are staying here for the next couple of days right?"

"What do you mean a couple of days? I thought we came to visit" Mike asked
with a worried voice

Gran looked at her son and half yelled, "You got told to tell them WHAT was
HAPPENING and didn't, LEAVE NOW OR ELSE"

I jumped when Gran yelled because I have never seen her like this or herd
her yell, I looked at Father and could tell that he was scared, then
without saying a word to her or anyone he left in a hurry. Gran saw that
both Mike and I where a little scare and said, "I am sorry you had to see
that boys but your father was told to tell you, that you are going to be
staying here while you under take your training and the welcoming to
manhood of our people"


A little while after Father left Mike and I to do our training with Pop and
Gran, Pop told us that we would be doing some physical training with him
and other training with Gran. Gran and Pop talked in the kitchen while me
and Mike where sitting in the lounge watching Cheese TV, our favorite show
in the mornings. Just as Dragonball Z finished Gran walks in and says,
"It's time for you to come with me and I will be teaching you about who we
are and what we as a people do to help"

This was confusing to say the least but we just took it as if we were
learning history, Gran took us into the study witch was set up like a
little class room I laughed a little when I saw this. She told us to sit in
one if the two desks and open the text books that where on the tables so we
could copy what she was about to write on the portable black bored they had
set up.

Before Gran wrote on the bored she said, "Forget what you think you know
and what you might not know, because after today you're lives are not going
to be the same"

Then she wrote, 'What we are and what other are out there'.

By the time lunch came around we had leant a lot of things that we didn't
think possible; like the fact that we are not human, well full human
anyway. We are hybrids, half human and half were-panther. And the fact that
there are other creatures or other were-people, Were-foxes, were-cats,
were-possums, were-dogs, were-mice, were-rats, vampires, were-roos, Avians,
Ferrell's, Elves, humans, Dragons, Dwarfs, Fairies, Witches, Wizards,
Demons, giants, hybrids, Mages, Arcane horror, Living Dead, Dragonlings and
true immortals. I was wondering if I could find these others and that if
they were real I didn't even think that we are were-panthers, as far as I
knew that all the creature of the night like were-wolves and vampire or
anything like that where not real and that if they where they died back in
the dark ages.

Pop came in and said that it was time for lunch and that we are to join him
after we had eaten. We had bacon, eggs and toast for lunch and a glass of
orange juice. I thought this was funny because what we had normally is for
breakfast. Mike and I went looking for Pop after lunch and found him in the
shed witch now looked like a gym with boxing bags and a weight set up in
the corner. Pop saw us and said, "Now is time for the real training to
begin boys I hope you are ready for some real training and I don't plan to
go easy on you because you're my grandkids, I was not on your father so I
won't go easy on you"

I nodded; I could just see Mike out the corner of my eyes and saw that he
was shacking a little. "Mike it's not going to be that bad" I said unsure
if I was telling the truth or not.

For about half an hour Pop had us warm up doing jumping jacks and
stretching our muscles by bend down and touching our toes. Once we had
warmed up he got us to do as many sit ups as we could; I did 40 while Mike
did 35, then he made us do push ups; I did 30 and Mike did 35. Mike was
better at doing more than me in push ups. When we where finished the push
ups Pop got us on the cement and gave us some skipping rope and said, "Jump
till you can't jump any more and count out loud"

1, 2, 3 ?..  50, 51, 52 ?. 100, 101, 102 ?. At 149 jumps both Mike and I
stopped and I said, "Need a break, I can barely move"

"NO BREAKS KEEP GOING" Pop yelled

"NO YOU ARE GOING TO LET US HAVE A BREAK OTHERWISE I AM LEAVING NOW" I
yelled back Mike and Pop where just looking at me with scared looks on
their faces and started to back up. Gran come running out the house to see
what was happening.

"What the hell was that?" Gran asked

All Mike could do was point at me and she saw way they where scared, my
eyes had change from there normal baby blue to black, my hair also grew
longer and went white. Gran was the only one to speak, "He is beginning his
change now, get Mike and Mary over here NOW, Mike go inside and to your
room you don't need to see this yet"

Pop ran inside got on the phone to Father and Momma while Mike ran upstairs
to our bed room and locked the door.

I felt as if my skin was going to rip and tare and as if my bones where
braking, I looked at Gran scared out of my mind not knowing what was
happening, I tried to say something but all that came out was a growl and
that scared me even more. Gran saw the fear in my eyes and came over and
hugged me saying in a calming voice, "Remember we are were- panthers so
don't be scared young one it is time for you to join the tribe as a
panther"

I don't know what happened after that it all just blanks out.

From Grans view

Drake had started his change and I was scared as hell because it was not
supposed to happen till his 17th birthday witch is two days away and most
of all it looks as if he is going to be a white panther as well. White
panthers are rare and in that there has not been one for over 500 years, I
hope and pray that he is all right because a change brought on early can
have drastic affects. I looked over at him when I herd him growl and saw
that he was scared more than he has ever been, I walked over to him and
hugged him while saying as calming as I could, "Remember we are
were-panthers so don't be scared young one it is time for you to join the
tribe as a panther"

I felt him relax in my arms and the shifting stopped and he returned back
to normal 'thank god he has stopped shifting' I thought. At that moment
Drake came out saying, "I just called Mike and Mary and there on there way,
how is he doing?"

"Good now the shifting has stopped thank god, but from now on no more
pushing them as hard as you where" I answered and ordered at the same time.

He nodded and said, "I think I better check on Mike he seemed near fainting
when I saw him run up the stairs"

I nodded in agreement, I stayed with Drake till there father Mike got there
and to help carrying him in and lay him on the couch, "What happened
mother?" Mike asked me as he walked out back after arriving.

"I think your Pop pushed him too much and he needed a break but your father
was not going to give him one so he got pissed and started the change, but
I was able to calm him and stop it before it had gone too far"

From Drakes view

I herd people talking but could not make out what they where saying, the
last thing I can remember was Gran hugging me saying something about not to
be scared for some reason. I laid there for a while till I recognized the
voices as Grans, Pops, Fathers, Mikes and Mommas. I opened my eyes to see
Momma sitting next to me patting my head and looking down, when she saw I
was awake she screamed with joy saying, "HE"S AWAKE EVERYONE"

Just then I felt and group of hands touch me and everyone was trying to
talk at once so I couldn't make any of it out so I said, "Shut up, one at a
time please I have a headache"

Father was the one to speak, "Oh sorry son we where worried when you
started your change, when Dad called saying you where beginning to change
we rushed here as quickly as we could to be there for you"

My changing what the hell was Father talking about; I sat up and saw that
Mike wouldn't look at me for some reason. "What do you mean my changing?" I
asked Everyone was shocked.

Pop asked, "What do you remember before you past out?"

"Yelling at you and Gran running out that's all and then she was hugging me
saying something about not to be scared" I replied

Gran got up walked over to me and said, "Your anger brought on the change
from your human form to the panther one, remember I told you that we are
all were-panthers"

Just then as if I was hit by a tidal wave it all came back,; the felling of
my skin ripping and bones breaking and the fear I had not knowing what was
going on and Mike running off scared as hell, 'oh my god why did I start to
change' I thought. "I? I? remember now, my skin?. It felt as if it was
ripping and my bones?.." I couldn't finish I was crying too hard in Mommas
arms.

Father walked over and put a hand on my shoulder and said, "Its ok son but
we are not sure why it happened, it should not have happened till your 17th
birthday when you become a man. The reason you are here at your Gran and
Pops is to learn how to control your new abilities that come when you
change for the first time, your anger is something that needs to be
controlled because it can bring the change at anytime if you don't control
it"

I passed out again.

From Mikes view

Drake passed out again in Mommas arms 3 hours ago, I am not sure how I can
take all this in, I still don't believe what happened this afternoon when I
saw his eyes and hair change colour it was the weirdest thing I had ever
seen. But if that is what is going to happen to me when I change as well I
don't want to change but I also guess it can't be helped since it has to
happen by what Father said. I went back to my room, at least here at Gran
and Pops Drake and I have different rooms, I started to get ready for bed
when I herd a knock at the door and herd Gran say, "Can I come in?"

"Yeah Gran just give me a sec I have to finish getting dressed" I said I
finished putting my PJ's on and opened the door to let her in, "anything I
can help you with Gran" I asked

Gran walked to a seat and sat down and motioned for me to sit on the bed,
"We need to talk about what is going to happen"

I knew this talk was going to happen sooner or later with how I reacted
today and also how I didn't even look at Drake when he woke up but I would
have preferred later than sooner. "What happened with Drake today Gran
scared the living shit out of me, sorry for the language but I didn't know
how to say it with out swearing"

"It's ok Mike I understand I was scared to, his change should not have come
on before your 17th, we do not know why it did but it did.  I know you
where scared it is always scary the first time seeing someone change but
know it is something that comes natural to us and you cannot run from it so
don't be scared of it for long young one" with that Gran walked out.
