Jason spun around at his abnormally fast speed after waking me, moved
toward the door, and shut it. I hopped out of bed and opened by suitcase.
I picked out my favorite pair of ripped jeans, a plain white t-shirt, and a
black hoodie with a brand name on it. I opened my door and headed to the
bathroom in my green shirt and my tight CK sports trunks. I then noticed
Chance sitting in the living room. I had forgotten he was there until this
moment when he turned to see me and my cheeks turned bright red.

"Morning." Chance said in his all-too-perfect voice.

"Morning!" I chirped nervously. I flashed him a quick smile and he
responded with one, before I went into the bathroom and shut the door with
my mind. I turned on the hot water and hopped right in. The hot water
felt good on my naked body. I grabbed a wash cloth, lathered it in soap,
and scrubbed all over.

After washing my hair, I jumped out of the shower. I wiped the steam off
the mirror and pulled on my pair of CK white briefs. I put my jeans and
shirt on, styled my hair to flip in the front, and then went to the main
room where Chance and Jason were sitting and talking. I noticed my bags
packed and sitting on the floor. We were going to be leaving very soon.

"Good, you're dressed decently warm." Jason smiled, noting my hoodie.

"Yes I am" I laughed. I looked at him weirdly and went to sit down.

"Don't bother sitting, we need to get moving. We want to be there before
night and Chance mentioned that there may be a couple League members on our
trail. Chance is going to carry you and we are going to sprint to the top
of a mountain where someone will be waiting for us." Jason said. He
grabbed my bag and connected it to his with a metal hook. He had tons of
bags connected and threw them on his back.

"Why can't I run myself?" I asked.

"No offense kid, but you are slow. We are vampires and will get there much
faster." Chance smiled. He was wearing a tight, long sleeve, blue shirt
with a pair of light wash jeans. He handed me a backpack and motioned for
me to put it on. He then turned around and bent over.

"You're going to give me a piggyback? Right now? Can I at least walk out
the front door first?" I asked.

"No, you see, the League members have humans that they use as spies and I
think the lady at the front desk may be one. So, get on his back so we can
get moving." Jason said. There was no more joking in his voice and his
face was filled with concern. I reluctantly put my arms around Chance's
neck and hopped on.

"Hold on tight." Chance said in an almost flirty, sexy voice. I smiled
and squeezed him a little bit tighter.

"Ready?" Jason raised his eyebrow and looked to each of us. Chance nodded
his head and I did the same.

Jason was then a blur and I couldn't see where he went. I went to look
around the room one last time, but my stomach lurched as Chance ran
forward. The walls flashed by me and the only thing I could make out was
the window directly in front of us. I then remembered that we were on the
fourth floor of the hotel.

"Chance we?" I started, but before I knew it, we were out the window and
flying towards the ground. I couldn't help screaming and then we landed
with a soft thud.

"You okay?" Even though I couldn't see his face I knew Chance smiled as he
asked.

"Perfect." I replied. We then lurched forward again. This time I could
see Jason running beside us, probably because he was running the same
speed. Trees were blurring in the background and I could feel us going in
an upward motion. I tightened my grip even more as the hill became bumpy
and I was sliding. At one point, Chance's hand grabbed my arms and he
pulled me up some.

In the corner of my eye I saw a blue flash hit a tree ahead of us. The
flash left a small hole and smoke came off it. Chance looked over at Jason
and their speed increased.

"What's going on?" I asked nervously. My grip became more of a death grip
as I asked the question.

"They have a Striker and a Shifter after us." Chance said. Another bolt
of blue light hit a tree in front of us.

"What the hell?" I asked. I had never heard of a Striker or a Shifter
before.

"A Shifter is a person who can take on most any animal shape and this one
is a large wolf which is carrying a lovely Striker. A Striker is typically
someone who projects some sort of energy and can throw it. She is using
lightning bolts." Chance was a little winded while he spoke and grunted a
little as he tried to run faster and faster.

"Oh my God." Was my only reaction. I turned my head a little and saw a
bolt going right for Jason. I clenched Chance's shirt with one hand and
thrashed the other to the side. The bolt hit a tree next to him, knocking
this tree over. There was then a howl and what sounded like falling.

"Good work." Chance said. He was still pushing himself to run faster, I
then heard the sound of running again.

"That didn't last long." I said nervously. There were a couple bolts of
lightning, but none that were too close. Then one bolt came speeding
towards Chance and I. I lifted my hand firmly and the bolt when flying
back, hitting a tree branch.

"Try to use your mind and tell the bolt where to go." Chance said. I had
never even thought of that. I was so scared I was just sending the bolt
flying, maybe I could try to aim it at them if they got close enough.
Another bolt was sent flying and I could vaguely make out an animal behind
us. Without even raising my hand, I glared at the bolt and it went toward
the wolf, but he dodged it.

"Damn." I stated. The wolf was increasing speed and both Jason and Chance
were slowing down. Another bolt came towards us, this time I aimed it to
go a little above the wolf, hoping to hit the Striker, but it did nothing.
My head was starting to hurt.

"We are almost in safety. When they see the reinforcements at the top of
the hill, they will run. Please hold them off." Chance stated. His voice
wasn't strong and deep anymore, but a little childish and scared. A bolt
came forward again, but I had no time to aim it. The next bolt I aimed for
right in front of the wolf. The wolf stopped for a moment and I glanced
ahead.

"ALMOST THERE!" Jason shouted. Chance sped up a little. I turned around
and a bolt of lightning came, I focused and sent it right back at the wolf
knocking the rider off. My head started spinning and I felt nauseous.

The speed slowed
