I recently lost the entire contents of my hard drive, so bear with me. It
may take me some time to get up to speed again. Plus the house we were moving
to was destroyed by Hurricane Keith. I will get further parts out as soon as
they are finished. - Andy

WASHINGTON (Oct. 3, 2000) - The Senate passed election-year
legislation Tuesday to provide nearly 600,000 new visas over the next three
years for foreign workers sought by the burgeoning high-tech industry.
``There is overwhelming unanimity that we must act in this fashion if we
are to keep our economy strong,'' said Sen. Spencer Abraham, R-Mich.

"Let me get this right. You're thinking of using DatManDead as the
basis for overthrowing Conner?" I asked Gabriel.
He nodded his head and stared at me. I considered the
possibilities.
"Let's hope Conners people haven't read it." I said shaking my
head. "If they have, it has no chance of working."
"We already thought of that." Zeke said. "That's why it's so
important to have you here. We want you to rewrite part of the book. That
way they won't know how it ends."
I looked over at Ezekiels smiling face. He seemed to stare at me
with something more that admiration. He stared just a little too long for
it to feel comfortable. Or was I imagining it?
"That won't be difficult." I stated. "When I wrote the book, I
tried five different versions before deciding on the one that was
published."
"Tell me something." Zeke said. "Where were they sending you?"
"Panama" I answered.
Gabriel and Brian looked at each other. I could see a visible
shiver run down Brians spine.
"You heard about what's happening there, haven't you?" Zeke asked.
"Yes. Death." I answered. They all nodded their heads.
"Not just death." Gabriel stated. "Torturous death."
I knew from the little I had heard already that the workers in
Panama were dying by the hundreds each day. The refitting of the canal to
accommodate the new "Titan class" oil tankers was behind schedule and the
workers were being treated as expendable trash. I had been on my way to
join that group.
"Are you feeling strong enough to get up?" Brian asked. "We can
show you the camp, if you'd like."
"Might as well try." I replied.
Zeke held out his hand to me and I took it. Pulling steadily he
helped me to my feet. He smiled at me and I returned his gaze. I noticed
that he stared just a moment longer than what seemed comfortable. It would
appear that the boy who rescued me was attracted to me as well? I couldn't
be sure, but as he glanced away I thought he seemed to be smiling
nervously. Could he be attracted, I wondered? Then my thoughts turned to
Terry.
"Listen, I don't suppose anyone has heard about my boyfriend?" I
asked.
The three figures glanced between themselves and I knew. He hadn't
made an escape.
"Is he alive?" I asked. Zeke hung his head. Brian looked towards
the open door.
"He's dead, Andy." Gabriel stated. "He tried to fight them and was
shot in Miami. We heard it on the short-wave from the resistance in
Cuba. I'm sorry."
I looked to Ezekiel. His eyes were already filled with tears. I
felt my eyes brimming as Zeke reached out to me.
"Oh, Terry! What will I do without you?!" I cried and fell into
Zekes arms. He held me up as I sobbed
It was a good half an hour before I was recovered enough to speak
again. I didn't want to think of the loss of my boyfriend, so I asked that
they show me the camp. Zeke stayed right at my side the whole time. I got
the feeling that he felt my loss nearly a much as I did.
As they showed me around, I couldn't help but notice that most of
the camps inhabitants were young. Most of them appeared between seventeen
and twenty five. As I was being shown the camp I was also introduced to
some of the members. Most had names like Joshua, Abraham and
Isaac. Biblical names. I asked why this was and Gabriel explained
"Most of us here are hunted for the bounty placed on our heads. You
will be too. We've taken these names and we're going to give you one
too. From now on everyone will refer to you as Enoch."
"Any reason why?" I asked.
"Enoch was the one chosen to write it all down." He answered.
So I was the one chosen to write it all down. I wondered if there
would be anyone to read it in the future. It seemed very unlikely that the
rag tag group of young homosexuals I found myself surrounded by would be
able to pull off the bring down of the President. Zeke led me through the
camp, all the time bending my ear. He explained every part of the camp and
every part of their organization. When we returned to the little house
where I had found myself earlier, I thought of a question.
"Whose hut is this one?" I asked.
"It's mine" Zeke answered.
"Thanks for letting me stay there. I guess I'll be assigned a place
soon." I said to him.
"I already had them assign you here, I that's OK." He said as we
stepped inside.
"You don't mind having me here?" I asked.
Shutting the door, Ezekiel stepped up within inches of my face. As
his eyes studied my face he whispered.
"I don't mind. I love you, Andy van Ryan."
