Chapter 11 -- Daren's Request

Still can't believing that he was asleep for that long, James
stretched in his bed. He pushed the covers that laid on top of him
aside. He tried to move his legs but didn't get much of a result. They
just laid there, mocking him. From somewhere in the back of his mind an
incantation uttered to his lips. Pretty soon his body was lifted up in the
air and turned to the side of this bed. James sat up and started rubbing
his legs to get some more circulation flowing through his legs. While
rubbing his legs he was also wiggling his toes to move some muscles.

Rance came in noticing that James was rubbing his legs. He slowly
walked behind him and started to rub his arms. James looked over his
shoulder to look at Rance, "So what do you want to do today Mr Matthews?"

"Never gave it much thought, but I think the first thing I should
do is talk to your grandfather, so see how he is doing." James replied
still rubbing his legs.

"Sounds good to me. Did you want to speak with him alone or do you
want me with you?" Rance asked.

"I think I'll talk to him alone. I feel we need to discuss
somethings." James kissed Rance's cheek.

"I'm glad to feel that you are doing well James." Reuol
telepathically sent James a mental message.

James just smiled and stood up. His legs were a bit shaky and
almost fell, but he caught himself and leaned against the wall. "Are you
okay babe?" Rance asked.

"I'm okay, but my legs seem to have forgotten how to walk or even
stand." James chuckled.

James used the wall as support and forced his legs to move so they
could remember just what to do. He finally made it into his bathroom and
turned the light on and closed the door behind him. He started to hum a
tune in his head, which Rance heard and he smirked. A few minutes later
James came out of the bathroom not holding on to the wall with a towel on
his shoulder. Rance looked at him with a little confused look on his face.
James looked over and just shrugged his shoulders and walked out of the
room to the showers.

Rance just sat there and suddenly felt something pull him up and
carry him. Rance floated through the hallway and made it to the shower
room, where James was already half naked. "Oh good you found your way
here." James just grinned without looking behind him.

Rance looked at James' bare back. He came up to James, and with
the end of his fingertips, lightly stroked James' skin down his back.
James just moved his back muscles. "If you're going to do that, you might
as well scratch back there."

Rance just chuckled a little and started to scratch James' back.
The shower turned on by itself and Rance looked up at the shower, "You seem
to have adapted to your powers quickly."

James didn't say a word. James was completely unclothed by now and
reached behind him at Rance. Before Rance could blink and eye his clothes
disappeared and they slowly faded away and reappeared in the shower. James
turned around to looked at Rance. With the water making his hair wet and
droop down, James looked deep into Rance's eyes. Rance put his hands on
James' waist and pulled him closer. Their lips meet so softly, as they
both had their eyes shut and enjoying the moment.

As they broke their lip bond James ran his hands through Rance's
wet dripping hair. "Thank you so much Rance." James said with his eyes
watering up.

Just like a wolf, Rance tilted his head to one side, not knowing
what to say. "You helped me through the trial of my powers. I know that
was you and not some illusion. I felt it was you. Not no one or any
illusion can fool me when it comes to you." James wrapped his arms around
Rance and rested his head on Rance's chest.

Rance held James closer and looked up and tears started to come out
of his eyes. "Rance I was just thinking, since I have the ability to
remove the curse of you becoming a wolf..." Rance put his fingers on
James' lips.

"I don't think of this as a curse. I think of it more of a
blessing. If none of this would of happened in the beginning, I wouldn't
of known about you or worse...even met you." Rance held James tighter to
him.

There was a knock at the door, "Come in." Naz called out as he
looked at paper work on his desk.

"Sir, our scouts have reported he has awaken." One of his servants
reported.

Naz looked up from the top of his glasses, "And of the book?"

"I'm sorry sir nothing was mentioned about the book." The servant
was hesitant of saying his news.

"Until anything about the appearance of or about the book, I shall
not be disturbed understand me?"

"I understand sir." The servant bowed and closed the door as he
left.

When the door shut completely, Naz took off his glass and laid them
on his desk. He turned his chair towards the window. He got up and walked
to the window, "So you have awakened, and the book with your awakening.
Soon, that book will belong to me, and you as well." Naz grinned as he
looked towards the Tower's manor.

James made his way to Daren's room. He stopped in front of the
door and with a pause before he knocked on the door. "Come in my dear
boy." He heard a voice come from the other side of the door.

Turning the handle and opening the door, James entered the room.
Daren was sitting up in his bed, "Ahhh...it is good to see you. Come by me
and we shall talk."

James sat down by Daren's bed, "How are you feeling Daren?"

"I'm doing well this day, thanks for asking." Daren smiled, "So I
presume you have the book with you?"

"Yes I do." James held out his hands and the book appeared.

James handed the book to Daren. "It's been a long time by friend
since we seen and felt each other." Daren moved his hand over the surface
of the book.

"So shall we continue with our plan then James?" Daren looked over
at James.

James sighed. "What's the matter James. Something puzzling you?"
Daren asked in his curious tone.

"In a matter of words, yes and no. Earlier this morning I started
to ask Rance if it was okay to remove this curse from your family. He
answered that it wasn't a curse it was a blessing." James explained to
Daren.

"I see. Let me tell you, my family is very proud of what has
happened to us. We do not curse what had happened. Yes, Rance is right,
it isn't a curse." Daren put his hand on top of James' knee to reassure
James.

"Thanks Daren for listening. Yes, let's continue." James smiled.

Daren opened the book to the back part of the cover. Taking his
long sharp fingernail, Daren cut into the paper revealing a piece of
parchment, and took it out. Daren handed the parchment to James. "This is
the spell to invoke all the spells into you James. All you have to do is
touch the book and speak the incantations and you will be a walking spell
book."

Daren handed the book back to James. With a deep breath, James put
his hand on the book of spells and recited the words on the piece of
parchment. After uttering the words the book started to glow dimly and the
light flowed into James' arm. James gasped as he felt light headed, and
felt a rush surging through his body. The book and the light to his arms
finally faded and James opened the book, look at each page. No words or
diagrams appeared in the pages. "It is done." James looked at Daren.

"I am pleased to hear that. Before you leave can you do an old man
a favor?" Daren asked James.

"For you Daren, of coarse." James smiled back

"It may be a small request but, I would love to be able to have the
strength I had long ago, and to be able to walk out in the sun. I'm only
talking about for a small matter of time though." Daren explained his
request.

James nodded his head and put his hand on Daren's arm. James
closed his eyes and light from James went flowing into Daren's body. Daren
gasped as he could feel his strength returning to his fragile body. They
soon faded in the light of the sun.

Out in the garden, Daren appeared standing on his own two legs
again and started to laugh at the feeling to walk again. He started to
take baby steps, making sure he didn't fall.

In Rance's study, Vance looked out the window and saw his
grandfather appear on his feet outside. "Rance come here!" Vance called
to Rance.

"What is it Vance?" Rance come towards the window Vance was
staring out of.

When Rance looked out the window he gasped in awe. He then looked
over and saw James smiling at Daren. James looked up at the window and saw
both Rance and Vance looking out. James held out his and towards the two.
Before they even knew it they were both in the garden. Daren stopped and
looked over to see his two grandsons. Rance and Vance rushed over to Daren
and hugged him as all three of them started crying. James wiped a tear
away and turned around and was about to walk away when he felt something
hold his hand. He turned around to see Rance's eyes filled with tears of
joy. Rance just hugged James. Vance and Daren soon joined in the touching
embrace.
