Chapter 2
A Threat Appears
I awoke feeling fully refreshed. I walked over to my mirror and was
surprised by my appearance. My hair had grown longer by a few inches. Then,
I gasped as I made eye contact with myself. My once hazel eyes were an icy
blue close to the pupils and turned into a steel gray the farther out the
iris got. I noticed my canines were sharper now. It was definitely shocking
to see. I turned around as I heard my door open. Michael slowly stuck his
head in. As we made eye contact he came in and rushed to my side hugging me
close. I took comfort in his embrace and wrapped my arms around him
shoulder.
"I'm glad you're finally awake." He said crushing me with his strength. I
felt like I was a lot weaker. Last night he didn't seem this strong.
"It's only been what..." I looked at the clock. "Nine hours Michael." I
chuckled. He stepped back looking in my eyes.
"You've been out for a month Gabe." He said judging my reaction. Well, that
was totally unexpected but, not totally surprising. "You're eyes have
changed." He said brushing my hair out of my face. "Your hair is longer
too, not to mention your teeth." He looks me over. His eyes raced over me
and then met my gaze and he smiled as a tear formed in his eye and rolled
down his cheek. "You have so many features that are Identical matches to
mom." I was stunned. "After you're dressed come down for lunch." He said
rushing out of the room closing the door swiftly behind him. I was still
stunned. I looked back at the mirror and headed to the closet. After I
threw on some jeans, a sweater, and my boots, I headed for the door. I
thought about the dining room and grabbed the door and as I turned the knob
I was in the dining room. Everyone looked at me when I appeared next to my
father. My family as well as two wolves. The alpha and another, I had never
seen before. He was smirking, though he still seemed surprised at my
entrance.
"That is really gonna take some getting used to." I chuckled stepping to my
father and hugged him from behind around his neck. I then walked over to my
seat, the only open spot in between Michael and the smirking stranger. As I
was about to grab my chair, the stranger stood and pulled it out for me. I
looked at him. "Thanks." I said eyeing him, bad idea though. I felt warm
and was pretty sure my cheeks flushed. He was a total hottie.
"My pleasure." His deep voice said, causing goosebumps to form up and down
my arms. I sat and he pushed in my seat. I looked up to find Sam and Sophia
smiling thoughtfully, while Damian and Michael were squinting their eyes.
"Incredible." I turn to my left, looking at the alpha. "You're quite an
interesting individual. Snow leopard and you teleport. Miraculous." He said
more to himself than anyone else. "Is there anything else we should be
aware of from this young mystery man?" He asked looking at me, but I could
tell that his question was aimed towards my father.
"Sorry, but my son and his abilities are not up for discussion alpha." My
father said pointedly, to which the alpha squinted his eyes in annoyance at
my father. "Back to the matter at hand. Has your pack been informed of
the agreement that has been made and their boundaries?"
"They have been notified sir. They know where they are allowed and where
they're to avoid. They also know to avoid all cats in the area 'were'
related." The alpha answered respectfully.
"Good. Now, Sam you will have the first shift with Gabriel today." Father
said. My head fell embarrassed.
"Dad..." I started, but was given a stern look and cut off.
"This was not a request. You will be with your sister and that is final."
He said, to which I pouted childishly and crossed my arms. I heard a
chuckle come from next to me. A growl escaped my lips and I instantly look
up in surprise to meet my father's gaze. I looked down in respect and fear
as he continued. "Damian and Sophia, you both will accompany the alpha and
insure they are situated comfortably in the camping grounds in the West.
Make sure all the cabins are functioning adequately. Michael you will be
with me at the office. I want you to start training for when you take over
as alpha and the company as the new CEO. I will be there with you every
step of the way. Questions anyone?" My father finished standing. We all
stood out of respect. My brothers, sisters, and I just nodded our heads.
The other two just stood watching my father exit. When he left my family
and I dropped down in our seats. As the wolves chuckled and sat slowly.
"This is totally unfair. None of you had to have chaperones. And with Sam
of all people? I'd be better looking after myself. Let me guess, you plan
on taking me shopping right?" I asked annoyed.
"You know me so well little brother." She said smiling sweetly at me. I
rolled my eyes to see the wolf next to me staring at me mischievously.
"What are you staring at?" I asked scooting further away from him.
"Gabe, manners. Come on you guys. We have duties that we all have to do.
No point in pouting about it. Let's just do it and get them over with."
Michael said standing and walking out.
"Well look at who's been drinking the water." Sophia said sarcastically.
"Let's get ready to go Damian." They stood as well. Followed by the wolf
alpha.
"I will go and speak with the alpha and then I'll be ready." He said to the
wolf next to me.
"I'm gonna go change and then we can head to the city Gabe." Sam said
cheerfully as she stood and headed out with the rest of them.
"Oh joy." I said nonchalantly.
"Well, that was entertaining." I heard from next to me.
"I'm glad we could amuse you." I said standing and grabbing all the plates
off the table. He stood as well and grabbed the alpha and his own
plates. He then, continued in the opposite direction grabbing plates. We
met on the other side of the cleared off table. "Thank you." I said
turning and heading to the kitchen.
"It's not a problem. I figured you could use the help since you have been
out of commission for a month." He said. I set down my dishes and just
looked at him. Trying to figure out where exactly he was going with this.
"So, why do you cats sleep so long after you change?" He asked.
"We go into a state of transformation where our bodies adjust to the
changes we went through. My sleep was a lot longer than most because of my
abilities. As you can see, I look more like my cat than my family does. I
guess taking after my mother, my look is the same. It's a blessing and a
curse. The life force I have, has lived on since the beginning of my
species. When I was in transition, all of my prior lives connected with
me. I saw and know all of their memories. I guess you could say I'm like
the avatar for were-cats." I said looking down in sadness. "Including my
mother's life." I said turning away and loading the dishwasher. We sat in
silence for a bit.
"That's a lot to process. I was surprised when I saw you change back into
your human form. I guess I was expecting you to be a female in human form
as well. How is that even possible?" He chuckled nervously. I finished the
dishes and looked back at him as I dried my hands.
"I didn't understand it at first either, that is until I was connected with
the past lives. The snow leopard spirit that lives through me is a
female. All the lives before me changed into her. It didn't matter if we
were male or female in human form. She is the spirit of the first and
blessed the were-cats with all she knew and is the reason why we are able
to have these abilities. My previous lives and I are strong because she has
to be protected. If whoever is carrying her dies before they give birth to
the next carrier, the line will end and my species will have to defend
ourselves without special abilities before we go extinct."
"That explains why the scent that you give off is something indescribable.
It's very feminine and intoxicating. That is how I was always able to tell
where you were. It draws men of masculinity to you." He said looking into
my eyes. I then realized who he was. Suddenly, annoyance filled me.
"Of course. I didn't know why you were so familiar at first. You're that
idiot that picked on my kill and you were there when I changed." I said
throwing the towel at his face, which he caught. "If it wasn't against my
better judgment I would kill you now." I shoulder checked him as I walked
passed. He laughed, which only provoked my anger.
"So, you do remember me. And here I thought I didn't leave an impression
on you." He said.
I stopped and turned quickly to him. It all seemed to happen in
slow motion. I jumped at him landing my hands on each shoulder, both feet
pushing his chest back, making him lose his balance and fall backwards. He
landed hard on his back with me straddling his chest pinning him down by
his shoulder with my left hand. My right arm pushing down on his throat.
I was seeing red and my fangs were further out of my gums. He had a smirk
still, with a hint of humor mixed with his surprise. What is with this
guy?
"Gabriel." Sophia yelled. I suddenly was snapped out of the trance I was
in and jumped back off of him. He stood still smirking. I turned to see
Damien and Sophia. Damien had a look of amused satisfaction but, Sophia
looked surprised and a bit angry. "What the hell are you doing? He is the
next alpha and an action like that is enough to cause conflict between us
and the wolves."
"Chill Soph. I'm sure it was well deserved." Damien said grinning.
"He's right. I provoked him. Teasing the baby is really amusing for me."
He said still smirking at me. A look of total rage took over my face. "I'm
Alex by the way."
"Well, I'm sorry for my brother's outburst Alex. I hope he didn't hurt
you?" Sophia said walking over and checking him for injury.
"He's a grown man Sophia. I'm sure he can handle himself." I said exiting
the kitchen. I was headed to my room when Sam came walking down the
stairs.
"Let the festivities begin, shall we?" She said grabbing my hand and
dragging me out the front door to her SUV. A metallic silver Honda CRV
with fully tinted windows and a license plate that read "Bad_Bish".
"So, where are we heading anyway?" I asked as I got in putting on my seat
belt.
"I figured it's time to teach my little baby brother how to dress." She
smiled at me as she clicked in her seat belt and started the car.
"What's wrong with how I dress?" I asked. She chuckled as she put the car
in drive.
"Have you seen how you dress?" She asked me peeling out of her spot and
down to the city. ?
Sam and I find ourselves walking into the mall. I'm not surprised
that everyone looks our way. She was dressed as if she just walked off the
runway. Her hair flowing with tight curls. She has on some Chanel
sunglasses, a pair of diamond encrusted hoop earrings, a black Balenciaga
Carabiner dress, and topped off with a pair of Jimmy Choo white Faiza
heels. An outfit that came out to $3000 easy. I just shake my head as I
pull off my sunglasses.
"Okay first we'll start off at Michael Kors. There is a purse I want and
also a couple outfits I want you to try on." She said leading me through
that mall. For a woman in heels, she moves pretty fast.
"I am not a doll you dress up Sam." I say trying to keep up with her in a
comfortable speed.
"Well, today you are definitely going to dress up in many, MANY different
outfits. So, let's go Ken." She smirked back at me over her shoulder. She
finally stopped in front of the store she wanted. I just shook my head.
This was not going to be fun.
Finally, after a few hours we are sitting in the food court. I had
six bags full of clothes. Each one from a different store. We were sitting
down as she sucked on a smoothie I sipped on some tea. Suddenly, she
placed her drink down on the table dramatically, folded her arms across her
chest, and stared at me hard. I began to feel uncomfortable, like I was
somehow exposed.
"What?" I ask.
"So, what is going on with you and that wolf, what's his face? Alan?" She
countered and I just shook my head placing my tea on the table and
mirroring her expressing.
"There is nothing going on between `Alex' and I." I replied. She shook her
head.
"Okay you can't bullshit a bullshitter. I know that something is up, based
off all the evidence." She stated as a matter of fact, raising an eyebrow.
"I'll bite I guess. What `evidence' is there?" I asked using air quotes.
"First," she starts off putting up one finger. "The whole hunting thing in
the woods. You could have easily beaten him if you wanted to. Even if you
weren't ready at the time we could have handled him but, you stopped us."
She puts up a second finger. "Then, the night at the dinner, you two were
all cuddled up on the back porch." I raise an eyebrow this time. "Yes, I
saw when I went to grab a bottle of wine out of the basement. I looked out
there to make sure you were alright. Third, this morning you were totally
drooling over him. I'm pretty sure that you unconsciously sent me and
Sophia warning pheromones to stay away from him at breakfast." I looked
down embarrassed. "Finally, let me be the one to tell you this." I cringe
in suspense. "While you were in your transition, he would sit outside your
window in his wolf form." It felt like she just shot me.
"I, well, it's just, ugh." I felt an entire sentence was never going to
form.
"Let me help you out. You guys like each other." She said smirking
sinisterly.
"I don't really know what it is. It's like he is able to set off something
inside of me that just makes me feel primal." I say trying to figure it
out. "Like, this morning. I felt like I was under a microscope with his
eyes on me. It was like he could see my every thought. Like, he was
talking specifically to my soul and it would answer back. But, a part of
me just feels like I am so attached to him because he is the only other
`were' that my cat has met outside of the pack. It's really hard to figure
out." I grabbed my tea and took a huge gulp. Big mistake. It burned from
my tongue all the way down. I began coughing, to which Sam began laughing
hysterically.
"I'm not that much of an expert but, I think you may be right about that.
Family and pack members are pretty much the only people you know. None of
which were ever in your age range. Being homeschooled didn't help either.
You're never on your own." She said looking down at her phone. She looked
around, smelled the air, and then looked back at me. "So, I'll give you
some of that right now." My mouth fell open. "What's about to happen is
you are going to walk with me to the nail salon. I'm in serious need of a
mani/pedi. You'll leave your bags there. If you need me our mind link is
open. I'll call on you when I'm done. The wait should be about 45
minutes, then, the work will be about 3 hours. Stipulations are you can't
leave the mall and this stays between us. Deal?" My face lit up and I
stood.
"Well, let's get you to the salon ay." I began grabbing all the bags and
we headed to the salon. Just like she said it would be a 45 minute wait
for them to start working on her.
"Alright, you have your credit card so, get out of here kid." She said
shooing me out the door. A couple of patients looked at us confused but
smiled. ?I began walking down the path and stopped at a map directory.
Looking at the list I find a Barnes and Noble. I head in that direction.
I get there and order another tea from Starbucks. I walk to the end of the
counter to wait for it. I pull out my phone and look at my email for the
first time since I woke up. I have about a hundred new messages. I
scrolled through them looking for one in particular. I found it and
quickly opened the file that was attached.
"Gabriel." A woman says. I look up to see a cup placed in front of me. I
walk over to a table and sit down, mentally preparing myself for what I am
about to read. The file finished downloading and opened up.
`Dear Mr. Gabriel A. Skyland, ? It is my pleasure to inform
you that you have officially been accepted to continue your education here
at Ohio State University. The following information will go through the
appropriate steps that you will need to take in the process of
enrollment...'
?I jumped up yelling without thinking of where I was at. I looked
at the confused faces of the few random people in the coffee shop. I
quickly apologized and went into the book store. I walked straight to the
psychology section to pick up one of the required reading books that was
suggested on a psychology major's forum. I figured I could read it and get
a head start on my practice.
After paying for the book, I head back into the mall to find
another directory to see where I would head to next. I scrolled down the
list and found one, a Gamestop. I walking in that direction. I was
sipping on my tea when I suddenly got the smell of something familiar. I
wasn't quite sure exactly what it was but, I followed it against my better
judgment. I chuckled to myself thinking of all the scary movie characters
that so something this stupid. As I followed this new found scent, I
stopped right outside of the store it was coming from. Again I chuckle at
how ironic it was that the smell happened to come from Gamestop. I shook
my head and walked in. I smelled the room inconspicuously. There was a
group of mixed species. I wasn't exactly sure which was which. All I
really knew was, it was a mix of wolves, a few humans, and a few cats.
They were having numerous conversations so, none of them noticed me. I
blew it off and headed for the Xbox games and began looking for a new game.
After about 5 minutes of looking, I grabbed a Call of Duty. I was looking
at the back of the game when I suddenly heard a cough from next to me. I
jumped a bit because I had blocked everything else out except the game. I
looked up and I instantly felt my face flush. I had to move my hair out of
the way so that I could see him clearly. I really need to get used to this
long hair. He had his hands up and was smiling down at me.
"Wow, there." He chuckled. "I was just seeing, you're Damian and Michael's
brother right? The youngest Skyland, right?" He asked which surprised me
a bit. He had this deep tenor voice that gave me goosebumps. He had this
dark red hair but you could tell it was natural. His skin was pale but had
the looks of a slight tan. These bright blueish green eyes that appeared
to be moving like the ocean. He had a symmetrical nose and had the
beginnings of a perfectly even and shaped up five o'clock shadow. His hair
was in a messy comb over. Oh wait. He asked me a question didn't he?
Must... Formulate... Words.
"Umm, yes I am and who are you exactly?" I asked trying to control all of
my nerves.
"Well I'm Cameron. I went to school with your brothers. We were on the
football team together. Well, I guess I was on all the sports teams with
them. At least until Mike and I graduated." He laughed.
"Oh, well I'll tell them you said hi." I said about to turn back to the
games but, he regained my attention.
"Well actually I was coming to talk to you. I figured I should meet the
member of our pack that has finally transitioned through his first change.
Congrats man. I heard you were out for a month. That's crazy. I never
met anyone that was asleep that long." He said. I was surprised he was
taking so much interest in me. Then, it dawned on me that he said that he
was a part of the pack.
"Wait, what is your last name again?" I questioned.
"Valliant. My father is the pack doctor. He also delivers all the new
cubs. Including yourself." He answered. It was then that I knew who he
was talking about.
"Valliant. Right. Yeah your father is supposed to run a series of tests
on me to figure out why my powers are advancing as rapidly as they are." I
laughed.
"So, are you really a leopard?" He asked with a hint of excitement.
"Uhhh," I scratched my head. "I am actually a snow leopard."
"That's sick man. I'm the only other leopard in the pack. A bit bigger
than you're breed but still relative to you." He said smiling. His smile
was contagious. No sooner, did I find myself smiling as well.
"Hey, Cam the gang is heading to the food court. You coming?" A guy said
behind me. I turned back around and picked up the game again, just
realizing I put it back.
"See ya." I said walking over to the cash register. I handed the game to
the clerk and pulled out my wallet. As I grabbed my credit card, cash came
over my shoulder and was handed to the man. I looked over my shoulder.
"Think of it as a welcome to the club gift." Cameron smiled down at me. I
just shook my head.
"Shouldn't you be headed to the food court?" I asked smiling back at him.
"I could do that if you'd rather be alone." It was more of a statement than
a question.
"Sure. I got some time to kill before my sister is done at the salon."
"I'm guessing you're with Samantha if you are at this mall." He laughed.
"Here's your change. Enjoy your day gentlemen." The clerk said handing me
the game. We began walking out of the store and down the path to find a
new store.
"So, you were home schooled right?" He asked.
"Unfortunately I was. My father thought I was too fragile to be faced with
public school. Well, he still does I guess." He laughed at that. I
smiled.
"That really sucks man. I'm sure you would have been fine. Everyone knows
who your family is, seeing as your siblings set and broke tons of records
for the school. Not to mention the fact that your father's company is
funding the school."
"Yeah, pretty much I am the sheltered child, since, I am the connection
with the first and the youngest heir. Let alone, his last connection to my
mother. It's weird that her and I, are connected even though I never met
her." I suddenly realized I had said it out loud.
"Well, that's good at least you have that to remember her. I remember her
being a very nice and caring woman. She would always take us places and
take care of everyone in the pack." It was a bit surprising to hear him
say this about her. Then, it made sense if he went to school with my
siblings.
"That's what I've heard." I looked up and saw a sports store. I turned
into it and started looking through the area for what I wanted in specific.
"You're an outdoorsy type? I wouldn't have guessed that. You could have
come with us when we did stuff." I figured he wouldn't know about my
family's issues.
"Yeah, my siblings and I didn't used to have such a good relationship prior
to my shift. But, we are closer now so you might see more of me with them."
I chuckled.
"Oh, sorry man. I didn't know that. They never said anything bad about
you, to me at least. Actually, they always told me positive things about
you." Now that made me stop and rethink our whole relationship. "So, what
are we looking for?" I looked around then finally found what I was looking
for.
"There." I said pointing to the boxing gear.
"You're a boxer?" He asked smirking.
"No." I rolled my eyes grinning. "I need some new gear to practice and
freshen up my skills for fighting in general." I said as we reached the
section. I grabbed some boxing gloves and a new mouth guard. I turned and
looked through the many different punching bags they had. I went to move a
box out of the way and as soon as it was moved, Cameron grabbed the box I
wanted. "Thanks. But, I could have carried it."
"I have no doubt that you could have but, you still have other things to
grab right?" He said with that same smile. I just rolled my eyes again.
I'm starting to feel like that's all I'm going to do around him.
"Alright, let's go." We went to the register.
"You all set?" Asked the cashier.
"Yes I am. I would like to have all this put aside for later pick up." I
told her pulling out my wallet.
"Alrighty." She said typing something on the register. "What is the last
name?"
"Skyland." I said. She looked at me and smiled blushing. I just stared at
her.
"Oh. Sorry sir, I didn't know." She said sounding embarrassed.
"Umm, yeah, so please don't call me `sir'. I'm probably the same age as
you." I stated again pulling out my credit card and handing it to her.
She took it and smiled at me. After swiping it she glanced up next to me.
"Oh, hey Cameron. How've you been?" She asked blushing. I couldn't
contain my laugh and it slipped out causing me to cough a bit. I looked
over to see him smirking at me.
"Hey Crystal. I've been good. How's your BROTHER, doing?" He raised his
eyebrow with his emphasis on brother. I just shook my head.
"He's doing a lot better. Tell your father my family thanks him. Are your
brothers and sister here with you?" She asked handing me a receipt to
sign.
"My brothers are in the food court but, my sister is helping my mom at
home." He said as I handed her back the receipt.
"Well, tell Paulet to call me later when you see her." She responded
taking the slip.
"Will do." He said placing the box in a cart in front of the register.
"You ready Gabriel?" He asked, standing too comfortably close to me. I
blushed again.
"Uh, yeah. Thank you Crystal." I said brushing some stray hairs out of my
face. She giggled.
"My pleasure. Tell Sammy not to be such a stranger for me."
"Oh she's in the salon getting her nails done. We'll stop by before we
head out." I said as we turned to leave. We walked out of the store and my
stomach growled rudely. That was inconvenient. Cameron just chuckled.
"How about we head to the food court as well?" He suggested. I nodded in
agreement. So, we made a right and headed back that way.
"She seemed... Friendly." I said nonchalantly.
"Yeah, she's a friend of our sisters. She had a crush on me for the
longest time, so, I try to avoid her as much as possible since she's
human." He said looking directly in my eyes. I had a hard time trying not
to get lost in his sea colored eyes. But, I looked away. What is wrong
with me? "You know I was surprised when you turned around though." He
said catching me off guard and pulling me out of my thoughts.
"How so?" I questioned.
"Well, you have this feminine scent that is really over powering. It's a
sweet smell with a hint of a submissive scent. In cat form you'd be easily
mistaken for a female. It's kind of like you call out for masculinity."
He said. I simply rolled my eyes thinking how that was what Alex was
trying to say this morning.
"Yeah. I've been hearing that a lot from people I just met." I said a
little more annoyed than I intended to come off. He looked confused for a
second. "I didn't mean to..." He cut me off before I could explain.
"Who else told you that?" He asked calmly. It was the sort of calm that
you would expect from someone that is really mad but, doesn't want it to
show.
"This wolf did at breakfast this morning. I guess he is next in line for
alpha. He is pretty much in the same position as Michael." I said to him.
I suddenly felt like I should be a little sorrier. I could feel my cat
bending down in apology.
"Oh, you mean Alex?" He said, as if it were no big deal after hearing his
name.
"Yeah. He was there with his father. How exactly do you know him, since
they have only been here for like a month?" I ask, now curious.
"We have the same circle of friends. He was in Gamestop with us actually."
He said as if it didn't matter. I was surprised, a bit glad, and then
pissed that he didn't say anything to me. I looked up at Cameron who was
smiling down at me. Instantly, I was back to my cheerful self. "So, what
are you in the mood for?" He asked as we walked into the food court.
"I'm not sure. What are you in the mood for?" I asked, hating making these
types of decisions.
"I can eat anything. You choose." He replied. He had a tone that was
even but, you could tell it was more of a command. My cat jumped a bit in
excitement. I started to object and tell him to choose.
"Alright. How about some Chinese?" I was surprised at myself for what just
happened. Stupid alter ego.
"Sounds good to me." We walked over to the line and waited to order. We
were looking out at the tons of people sitting around the big open space.
We heard a big group start laughing. "Ha ha. The guys are at it again.
Look." He said pointing in their direction. They were in a circle around
the table with two guys facing each other and then another guy was hitting
on the table.
"What are they doing?" I asked curious. I mentally shook my head. Could
I get anymore cliché?
"I'll show you once we get our food." My mouth went a bit dry.
"What will it be sir?" I turned to give the man my order.
"May I have an order of chow mein, orange chicken, and an order of the
veggie spring rolls?" He quickly piled on a plate and moved on to Cameron.
"Is that all sir, would you like a drink?" Asked the cashier. To which I
grabbed a green tea sobe. She told me the total and I paid. I grabbed a
straw, chopsticks, and some napkins. I waited for Cameron to finish his
order. I looked at my phone and saw I had about an hour and a half before
I was to meet Sam.
"This way." He said moving towards the group. I began to get a bit
nervous. "Sup guys, this is Gabriel a.k.a. Little Sky-Man." They all
looked up quickly saying a quick hello before going back to what they were
doing. We walked around them to a table right next to theirs. As I opened
my chopsticks, I realized that they were freestyling. As I listened, the
one next to me was pretty good. They both were good actually. Pretty soon
all my nerves were gone as they had me laughing at some of the things they
were saying. They were coming up with all these little quips that were
really funny. What topped it off though, was the fact that they were
identical twins ripping each other to pieces.
"So, what's up Gabriel, you got flow?" One of the guys that sat on the
other side of me asked. I looked over at him. There must be something in
the water, because all of these guys are totally model status.
"I don't really know. I have never really tried it." I answered looking
back at the guys going at it.
"It's pretty simple. They are just rhyming about whatever comes to mind.
Give it a try." He responded. I looked back over at the other guys,
realizing that they momentarily paused to listen in. Again, my nerves were
instantly back. I took a breath and let it out.
"Yo I'm Gabriel and my flow is something from greatness.
You never heard about me but I'm #1 on your playlist.
I got a flow so tight I can freestyle to a hand clap.
Go ahead and fall back, lean forward get slapped.
These bars I spit are lyrical something like a miracle.
Your bars are played out you know something kinda mythical.
I guess you're chopped and screwed up mess is all about a mystery.
Lines that come to my mind are all written down as history.
I'll give you one line to make you bitches kinda flirty.
Because I'm something so clean you wipe me down you get me dirty.
You were dumb enough to try and step to me kinda thoughtless.
But I guess you never heard some bars that are spoken so reckless.
Your freestyle is just like false beauty it's only skin deep.
My lyrics are original they come out as my soul speaks.
These whack raps you spit need density because they're shallow.
These rap scars that I leave you with can't even be cured by aloe.
I'll go ahead and be your teacher grab some paper and a pen.
Now bitches take your seat before I have to school you again."
I looked up and saw that everyone was staring at me surprised. "How was
that?" I asked a bit nervous.
"That was..." The guy next to me started and looked at everyone before
coming back to me. "Totally fuckin sick bro." Everyone started pitching in
too, saying how good it was for my first time. I just grinned like a fool
and finished my food as they continued going back and forth. I looked up
and saw Cameron smiling at me.
"You are just full of surprises." He says leaning back in his chair.
"Yeah. I have a knack for picking things up pretty quickly." I
replied. Suddenly, I felt a buzz in the back of my head. I look over and
Alex is staring at me. I roll my eyes and grab my stuff. "I have to go meet
up with my sister." I said picking up my tray. "See you guys later." I
said, as I turned to leave. I felt another buzz. This one was a bit
different. I glanced back and Cameron and Alex were watching me walk
away. I looked forward and just headed towards the salon after trashing my
tray. `Sam you about ready?' I asked still trying to find the salon.
`Yeah, my nails are drying. What's up, you sound odd?' She asked a bit
concerned.
`Let's not get into that. I just had an awkward moment with Alex and
Cameron.'
`Oh. Yeah, I can see how that would be a weird situation. Cameron is cute
isn't he?' Now this was getting awkward. Actually, us talking about guys,
was weird all in itself. I came out to my father when I realized I was
gay. I don't know if he told the family or not but this was just really
weird. Well, in a way it's good. One less thing for me to have to do.
`Yeah he is.' I saw the salon and I could see Sam smiling at me from the
dryer. I walked in and she stood walking towards me.
"Welcome back. See anything you like?" She smirked and winked at the
cashier who smiled. I just rolled my eyes.
"As a matter of fact, yes." I said lifting up my game. "Oh, and we have
to stop by and see Crystal before we leave."
"Okay. I've been meaning to call her." She said in thought. I grabbed my
bags and we headed out of the store. As it just so happens, the guys were
just passing by. "Well, hello boys. I hope you all were welcoming to my
baby brother." She had an evil smirk as she looked back at me. I gave her
the evil eye.
"Hey babe." Said the guy that sat next to me. He walked up and kissed her
cheek. I was surprised to say the least. "Your brother has some killer
flow. He freestyled like a champ." He said giving me a thumbs up as he
wrapped his arm around Sam's shoulder.
"Well, he is a natural at just about everything he does." She said as they
walked in the direction of the store. I fell back a little and pulled out
my phone. I had a text message from my father.
`How is everything going with your sister?' I rolled my eyes. Really dad.
`Everything is fine dad. Would you please stop acting like I am a five
year old?' I hit send. I know I'll probably get the third degree from him
when I get home but whatever. I turned it off and looked up as I put it in
my back pocket. Alex had somehow made his way next to me.
"Oh, so you see me now?" He asked jokingly.
"As opposed to you ignoring me entirely. Yeah, I see you." I replied
looking forward again. At that moment, Cameron took the opportunity to
look back at me and smile. I smiled back and he continued talking to the
twins.
"So, I see you're getting awfully close to Cam." Alex said flatly.
"Does that really have anything to do with you?" I asked looking at him out
of the corner of my eye.
"You tell me?" He countered. Touché.
"It's just nice talking to someone from my world other than older adults
and my family."
"He is supposed to be the next beta in your pack. So, I guess it's good
that you're getting to know him, since you two will be spending a lot of
time together." Well if he wasn't Mr. All Knowing.
"And you would be speaking of what exactly?" I asked him.
"You don't know what the beta does in your pack do you?" He asked humored
by my obvious sign of not keeping up with the roles.
"Please, inform me."
"The beta is in charge of the protection and security of your pack. So, he
is going to be training with you for combat and other things of that
nature."
"Well, that should be fun then." I smiled. We reached the store and
walked over to where Crystal was talking to another employee. By the looks
of it, I'd say he was her supervisor. He had this lust pouring off of him
that made my skin crawl. I didn't like this human. She didn't seem to
like the conversation either. As soon as she saw us she came over and
began talking to Sam. Cameron came over as well.
"Hey Gabe you want to grab the box while we are here. Sam had said you
guys were going home after you leave here." Cameron asked. I then noticed
that they were both giving off these scents that smelled kind of hot. Not
spicy, but more of a fire type scent. I ignored it, I'll ask Michael or
Damien about it later.
"Hey Cameron. Yeah we can do that now, let me just grab the keys from Sam.
Okay, I guess I'll see you at dinner Alex." I said walking with Cameron
over to Sam. "Sam, I need your keys, so we can bring the car around."
"Here." She said handing them over her shoulder not even looking back at
me.
"Thanks." I rolled my eyes. "I'm gonna go pull the car around so we can
just load it at the pickup out front." I told Cameron as I walked towards
the mall.
"I'll just come with you. It's not like I have anything else to do." He
says walking out with me. I look back and see Alex chatting it up with
Crystal. He looked over at me and winked. I just shook my head and walked
out with Cameron. "So, what's the story with you and that guy?" He asked
out of the blue as we walk towards the food court. I looked at him out of
the corner of my eye. He seemed just genuinely interested. So, I engaged
in the subject.
"Honestly, we don't really have a story. But, then again, it's not really
like we don't have something between us either. Kind of a weird
situation." I said trying to end it at that. But, of course he had to
push the situation.
"So, do you like him or something?" At this point I stop and look at him.
"Are you seriously going this far when we just met like a couple of hours
ago?" I laughed but, I was totally serious about the question.
"Well, yeah. I guess I am. Do you like him? It's really a simple
question to answer. Yes or no." He asked turning and walking back in front
of me. I just looked up at him. Something had me nervous to answer. But,
a spark lit up in me and pushed me forward.
"Does it really matter if I like him or not? Truthfully I could like the
whole mall and it would be no bodies business because I do not have a mate
yet. I have no loyalties to anyone nor do I owe anyone an explanation of
who I like or am interested in. Savvy?" I asked, before I walked around
him and continued through the food court.
I pulled my shades out of my hair and pushed them on as I walked
out of the mall. The pure audacity Cameron had to try and pull that shit
with me. Seriously, we just met and you want to play the jealousy card.
Boy stop. He has me fucked up, down, left, and right, if he thought I was
about to be okay with that shit. I unlock the car and reach out for the
handle. I am suddenly grabbed by the wrist and am turned face to face with
a man I don't know. This caused me to drop my bags and instantly causing
my anger to rise. He takes off his Oakley sunglasses and I see his ice
blue eyes looking deep into me. He leans forward and sniffs my neck. I
get a whiff of his scent as well. He is a wolf and looking over his
shoulder I see two bodyguards.
"Do you really think this is the one Adam? He looks so weak and not the
least bit like an alpha." Asks one of the bodyguards.
"What the hell do you think you're doing? Get the fuck off me dumbass.
I'm not, nor will I ever be an alpha. So..." I lift my wrist that still
has his grip on it and remove my shades with the other hand. "If you don't
back off, you'll have an entirely problem to deal with." He smirked a bit
as did they all. I dug into all of their minds and realized that they are
making plans to take me out and bring me to their alpha. "I know your
alpha isn't stupid enough to kidnap another alpha's son when you live on
his property?" They, looked at each other laughing and then the one in
front of me spoke.
"We aren't from that pack smart guy. If you would have joined the
conversation sooner you would have known that. Now you can either come
with us quietly and willingly to visit alpha Raiden or my friend here..."
He said using his thumb to point at the guard over his left shoulder.
"Will use his powers of persuasion to change your mind." The guy behind
him smirked and waved at me.
`Sam. I'm about to get taken hostage by a pack of wolves. I'm next to the
car.' I sent to her a mind link and she was able to see the men in front
of me.
"He just sent out for some help." The guard said a bit amused. I looked
past them and saw Cameron. He looked at me and started to run towards us
at a blinding speed.
"Take him down." The guy in front said over his shoulder. The man on his
left wiped off his shades smirking at me and turned around. Two steps in
front of him, Cameron stopped his sprinting and hit the ground. His eyes
were open still. So, I knew he was somehow paralyzed but, still alive.
`NOOOOOO.' I sent out in a high pitched screech, which brought all three
of the men to their knees clutching the sides of their heads. I kept it up
blocking out all of their mental links and brain processing. I teleported
to Cameron as soon as the man in front let go and lifted his upper body and
held him to me. The man that paralyzed him began to look up and before he
made eye contact we vanished.
? We reappeared in my living room. Nobody was home from their duties just
yet. Cameron had fallen asleep so I teleported him to my room and let him
sleep off the effects of the paralysis. I teleported into the back seat of
Sam's SUV. I looked out the window see in that the men were gone. I saw
Sam power walking with everyone in toe behind her. I finally got out. Sam
ran up and hugged me. I was still on high alert and was looking around.
"It's Okay Gabe, I'm here and they are gone. After you left the mall I
sent out a sweep after I lost you and they were gone." She said looking me
over. Then around the area.
"Hey, didn't Cam come out here with you?" Alex asked, to which everyone
looked back at me.
"Yeah he did. But, one of the guys that attacked me, hit him with some
ability that paralyzed him." I said pushing my hair back and taking a
breath.
"Well, where is he now?" One of the twins asked.
"Is he okay?" Asked the other twin. I smiled at them and their worried
faces.
"He will be. I brought him back to my place and he is sleeping it off." I
said looking back at Sam. "Speaking of we need to get home and speak with
father about this. It's a bigger matter than we think." I looked over at
Alex. "You need to come with us as well. That way, you can speak to your
alpha. This is going to affect you all as well." He nodded and we headed
to get into the car after grabbing the bags I left outside the car. I got
into the passenger side. Alex got in the back seat and Sam was about to
get into the driver's seat when her boyfriend stopped her for a kiss.
"Shoot me a text so I know that you guys made it home safe." He said
closing the window.
"No need too. As soon as she shuts her door, we will be." I said still
watching her.
"What do you mean?" He asked closing her door for her. I simply smirked.
As soon as the door slammed we were back in the driveway of the house. I
got out of the car and headed back to the house. They both had surprised
looks on their faces.
"Sam get in touch with father. Alex you should probably go and talk to
your alpha and see if he knows an alpha Raiden. I have to go and check on
Cameron. We should also get a hold of his dad for an evaluation to make
sure that paralysis has no long or life lasting side effects." I said
teleporting to my room as I reached the porch. ?
As I appear in my room I see a large body covered in my blankets.
I can hear Cameron's soft breathing. I walk over and sit on the edge of my
bed. I slowly lift the covers while he leans into me. The surprise I get
causes me to jump up landing on the floor with a thud. That causes him to
jump up. His leopard is huge and doesn't appear to be in high spirits. I
instantly, back down showing a light submissive impression to calm him
down. He stands proud and then looks around.
`Who are you and what am I doing here?' He asks as he slowly stalks
towards me. I back up a bit and release my cat. White and black fur
erupts from my skin, my eyes glow, my fangs extend, and claws shoot out
replacing my nails. He stops and observes me for a second before
continuing his approach.
`Cameron, you don't remember who I am?' I asked as he walks around me then
steps up to me sniffing my scent.
`I don't know who you are. So, answer me, who are you?' I just look at
him. Whatever that guy did to him was really going to have to be reversed.
I walk closer to him and wrap my tail around the end of his and teleport us
to the office. Here Sam is speaking to father through a mind link. `Where
the hell have you taken me and how did we get here?' Sam looks back at us
and sighs. She connects me to the link.
`Father you need to get back here. Cameron was hit by some guy and lost
his memory. But, I'm not sure if that is the only thing wrong yet.' I say
still holding his tail.
`Okay but, the both of you will fully explain how this happened later on.
But, for now, Sam get his father over there and make sure you guys keep
track of him. Sam also send a message to the wolf alpha and have him come
to the house. Michael and I will be home shortly.' Father says not happy
in the slightest.
`Yes father.' Sam and I said at the same time as our heads fell knowing we
were in for a server punishment.
"His father is already on his way. I sent him a message when you left.
And Alex just told me the alpha is on his way as well." Sam said massaging
the bridge of her nose. "I feel like this is just going to get more
complicated." She said to me then looking at Cameron.
`Why do you say that? It should be an easy fix right?' I ask.
"That's just it. There isn't really a way to fix it. There is nothing
being shown in his mind." She says looking at him. "His mind is blank.
There are no memories of anything he should remember."
`So what, his mind is blocked or something? Is that even possible to do?'
I asked her as she stared hard at him. I began to feel a bit annoyed she
was looking at him blankly for so long. `SAM.'
"I was trying to find any irregularities in his thought pattern or if there
were any types of limitations that I couldn't break through. It's all
normal though. It's like his memory has just been erased." She said
finally looking at me concerned.
`Will you two stop talking about me like I'm not here or like I can't hear
you?' Cameron said. We both looked at him with concern. `I have some of
my memories. I remember everything about myself and my family. But,
nothing else.'
"When, I was watching the guy was able to use his ability with eye contact.
He was going to fully wipe out Cameron's mind but wasn't strong enough or I
disrupted his psychic flow. His psychic abilities must be secondary. If
he was a fully blown psychic like I am he, then one look would have been
enough to do that. The way he stopped you, makes me believe that his
ability stems from body control." She said turning around deep in thought.
She was mostly talking to herself but, saying it out loud, so we knew what
was going on. She seemed to be at a loss. Then, I got an idea.
`Wait a minute.' They both looked at me. `Cameron, you said that you are
able to remember your family and who you are right?' He nodded. `Well, if
it was about erasing his mind then there should be a loophole since he
didn't finish. If you still remember all of that, Sam with your abilities
you should be able to link those memories with the ones he lost. They are
still apart of him. He may not remember specifics but, they all have an
impact on him as a being. Link what he remembers with what he should
remember. Boom.' I said a bit winded with excitement.
"You know, that should work. But, the problem is there is a block
preventing me from reading him." Sam said still thinking.
`That's because I've been blocking you out. I don't remember who you guys
are so I was guarding myself from you.' Cameron said causing us to look at
him a bit surprised. I just chuckled.
`Well.' I said shifting. "I'm going to leave you two to do that. The
alpha and father are downstairs. And quite frankly my cat is being a bitch
at the moment so, I'm just going to leave you too it.' I finished walking
to leave the room. As I stepped across the frame I teleported to put on
some clothes. After putting on some sweats and a tank top I teleported to
the den in the basement. I appeared in front of my father, Michael, the
alpha (I should really find out his name), Alex, and a few other wolves and
some other cats.
"Gabriel tell us what happened." My father said. I started the story
without the specifics. I would get to those after.
"So, alpha." I said facing him. "Who is this alpha Raiden?"
"He is a werewolf that is in control of this continent. He is the oldest
and strongest of us here on the Northern Hemisphere. He is one of the most
ambitious of us. If he wants something he goes and gets it. So, whatever
he is looking for, he will get it by any means necessary." The alpha said.
"Did they say why they wanted you?" My father asked.
"That's just it. I don't think they were after me..." I said still trying
to think about what was said.
"If they weren't after you then who would they be after?" One of the other
cats asked cutting me off.
"Actually thinking back to it..." I started then thought back trying to
remember what they said. ("He looks so weak and not the least bit like an
alpha.") It hit me and I spun around looking at father. "No they weren't
looking for me." I said to him. "They were looking for Michael." I said
looking to my brother.
"Me? Why would they be looking for me?" He asked.
"You're the next in line for alpha. They know that we are in control of
this area and if there is no next in line we could easily be overthrown.
If this alpha is as strong as alpha Dominic says he is, then, he would be
able to take this area since we have gone unopposed for centuries." My
father says. I get a shiver down my spine as the realization hits me like
a bolt of lightning.
"Father." I say getting his attention. He looks at me and as we make eye
contact I get a really sad feeling. "If that's the case then we have an
even bigger issue." He walks closer to me with concerned eyes.
"What could be worse than that so far?" Alpha Dominic questions.
"Look at the facts so far. They want to abduct the next alpha to stop the
alpha chain. If, they are just taking Michael that isn't what we should be
focused on, because father would easily get him back." My father looked as
though he has already figured it out.
"Then what?" Alpha Dominic pushed on.
"Then, they are planning to attack. But, it isn't just for surrender, if
Raiden is going for control." I said as a tear fell from my eye. My
father wiped it away and hugged me. Alex stood and began to walk over, but
Dominic raised his arm and stopped him. Michael hugged me from behind and
I could feel his body heat raising.
"He is going to kill me and my son." My father finished since I couldn't
from all the crying. The room broke out in conversations. Some
conversations of panic, some of outrage, and some of confusion. At that
moment, Sam and Cameron walked in.
"It was a grueling process but we fixed it." She said smiling until she saw
us. "What's wrong?" She asked walking over to us along with Cameron.
"So, the campsite is set up with a few minor repairs that we can..." Damien
started as Sophia lifted his head up from a notepad.
"We have to start preparing both packs." Michael said heading for the
door.
"Why? What's going on Michael?" Sophia pleaded. He stopped next to her and
hugged her.
"A very strong alpha werewolf is coming for Michael and I." My father
said. Sophia's knees buckled as she fell but Michael caught her. Sam ran
and jumped into our father's arms as she broke down and started crying.
Damien looked like he was in a state of shock. I was so devastated the
world started to go dark and I felt myself falling Cameron caught me before
I hit the floor but, we ended up teleporting. ?
I felt at peace in the darkness. At least, until my consciousness
returned. I slowly opened my eyes and made eye contact with Cameron. He
was sitting on his calves with my head resting on his thighs. I quickly
sat up and began to feel a sense of panic coming. That panic only
intensified as I looked around and realized that we were in the woods. I
look up and see that the stars were out and in full light. The moon was a
big crescent shape, but shining with great volume. I looked back down at
Cameron. He seemed somehow different.
"Do you happen to have any idea where we are at?" I asked standing up and
taking in the feel of nature.
"You're guess is as good as mine." He said nonchalant. Yep, he was
definitely back to being himself. I took a breath and closed my eyes
trying to focus. I did a big breath in through my nose and smelled that we
were in the mountains. I opened them and looked at him.
"So we are deep in the mountains. I have never actually been this far
though." I said walking over to a nearby tree. I placed my hand on it as
I bent down and took a whiff. Yep. We were still on the property. I stood
walking back over to Cameron. I extended my hand to him. He just looked
at me. I rolled my eyes. "Will you come on? I need to get back to my
family and I'm sure by now your father is there as well." He just kept
looking at me. I rolled my eyes again and walked over to him placing my
hand on his shoulder. I looked down at him and then back up and noticed
glowing eyes looking back at me. I remove my hand and walk towards them.
I take a whiff and smell the same scent as the wolves that had attacked me
earlier. I get a bit angry and vanish. I appear behind a man that is
looking at Cameron. I telekinetically take ahold of his arms and legs
lifting him off the ground. "What the hell are you doing on my property?"
I ask as I walk him back out in the open towards Cameron. Cameron
instantly stands and runs in to my side stepping in front of me a bit.
"What the fuck are you doing? Let me go. I have to get out of here.
Something really bad is coming because we failed to meet the deadline. If
we are still here when it gets here, we are as good as dead." He says
struggling to get free. He has a hint of panic in his voice that speaks
volumes.
"I am going to let you go but, if you try to run I'll catch you." I said
gauging his reaction. He simply nodded his head and I released him. He
fell landing on his feet. He stood back up holding on to his wrist. I
walked over to him reaching out for it. Cameron placed his hand on my
chest. I looked at him calmly and he withdrew his hand. "It's alright he
won't hurt me." I say looking at the stranger who nods in agreement. I
continued to the stranger again reaching for his wrist. I walked over to
him and placed my hand on the wrist that was hurt. I closed my eyes
focusing on the problem. I saw a silver bullet stuck in his joints. It
was sizzling his skin and contaminating his blood. I opened my eyes.
"This is really going to hurt but, it's the best way to get it out." He
nodded again. "I'll go as fast as I can." I said closing my eyes. I
focused on his wrist. I opened his skin and pushed my sight in. He let
out a loud yell. I saw where the bullet was. I saw that the bullet was
merged in his muscles. I used my molecular control to separate the bullet
from the points of contact. Once it was separated I teleported it out. I
then fused the skin back together. "I was able to get it out but you're
going to need a healer to fix anything I couldn't. We have one at my
house. We need to head back there any way. I'm sure my father would like
to talk to you as well. It would be beneficial for you to speak to him.
If Raiden is as bad as everyone is saying then my father will help you out.
But, you need to be completely honest with everything that you tell him."
"Thank you. I know you guys have no reason to trust me but, thank you for
doing it anyway." He said.
"Don't thank me just yet. I was going to kill you. So don't let this
kindness go to your head. The rest of the pack may have the same views as
I do." Cameron said stepping closer to me and pushing me behind him. I
rolled my eyes. The wolf had a low growl.
"That's quite enough of that gentlemen. We need to leave before anything
else happens." I said placing a hand on each of their shoulders and
teleported us to my father's office. ?
When we arrived my father was at his desk talking with Michael,
Dominic, Alex, and Cameron's father. Michael and Father ran over and
hugged me pushing past the wolf. Cameron and his father embraced. Dominic
and Alex stood up and walked over towards us. They began sizing up the
wolf.
"I'm glad you're safe my son. I don't know what I would have done if I
lost you." My father said.
"I'm glad you're back with us too Gabe." Michael said.
"I'd hate to break up this happy reunion but, what is this wolf doing
here?" Dominic asked.
"He is with me. I don't know why but, we teleported to him." I said to
Dominic. I looked at father. "You need to speak with him. I have a
feeling he will be able to help us out." I then looked over at Cameron's
father. "Do you think you can heal him? I was able to take the bullet out
but I'm not sure what else to do as far as healing his wrist." He walked
over to him and began his work. Michael pulled me over to the side.
"What do you know about this guy so far? You can't just bring these strays
to our house. Especially, ones from the pack that is trying to kill us."
Michael said trying to figure out what was going on.
"Michael the thing about this wolf is that he is in just as much danger as
we are. When he was telling us about what was going on and why he was on
our land, I could feel how scared he was. I could taste his fear." I said
looking over at the wolf. Cameron's father was busy healing the wolf.
There was a green glow over the wolf's wrist. "He knows Raiden's plan. We
can easily beat him if we know what to expect. This isn't just about our
pack anymore. We have werewolves that are taking refuge on our land and
they are now our responsibility. If this wolf can work with us, we will be
able to make this battle a quick and a definite victory for us. It will
save a lot of people on both sides. Think about it, the men that attacked
me were not that much older than we are. If they were that powerful then,
we have to believe that there are more powerful wolves out there that can
do a lot more than them. If we aren't prepared for them then we will
surely lose this battle. As well as our lives." I finished and walked
over to father and the rest of them. "Tell us what you know about Raiden's
plan."
"Raiden is trying to take out anyone that is causing a threat to his reign.
Your pack is the biggest threat and after he has conquered a few others he
is coming after you all. Now, I'm not disloyal by any means. But, after
being marked for death by my own I am on my own as an omega. When, he has
all of the others taken out he will have more than half the countries
werewolf population under his control. He will have a big enough army to
take any that oppose him. Raiden isn't just some ambitions werewolf that
seeks power. He craves it. The bigger the challenge the harder he will
work to take it. He isn't just some dictator that uses people under him to
do his dirty work either. He is unimaginably strong for an alpha. Unlike
most ambitious people, he will kill for what he wants. He wiped out half
my pack by himself including my old alpha." He got quiet reflecting on the
memory. "He is a vicious wolf that has never been defeated. His son is
just as powerful. As well as just as ruthless. After his first shift he
was stronger than any of the other men in his pack. He is a collector of
rare and beautiful things. Including people as well as items." He says
glancing at me. My father and everyone else look at me too.
"He is of no concern to me. He won't be able to get close enough to touch
me. I have no fear of him." I said running a hand through my hair.
Michael and my father chuckle. Father rubs my shoulder.
"You should. Those wolves that attacked you today, aren't even close to
the strongest Raiden has in his control. They are just the expendables.
Raiden only keeps the strongest of the packs he takes. He kills all the
alphas and takes the betas. The betas have the most dangerous abilities,
as I'm sure you're all well informed." He says looking at Cameron and his
father.
"He's right." Cameron's father begins. "We are equipped with abilities
that allow us to go on the offensive as well as the defensive. We are the
most feared besides the alpha family." He says looking at us. "Our
abilities are all unique. Like mine, I can heal as a defensive ability
but, as an offensive, I can also do bodily damage without even touching
you."
"Imagine about 50 wolves with abilities just as strong as yours. Like I
said before, he has a very strong pack. But, what he isn't counting on, is
someone that knows his plans helping you. I know when, where, and how he
plans to attack." He said with a smile. "Just seeing you guys officially
and seeing your strength gives me hope that I haven't had in a very long
time." I felt his realness seeping into my senses.
"First things first." My Father finally speaks. "When does he plan to
attack?" The guy walks up to me and places his left index finger on my
temple and his left thumb on my third eye (center of my forehead). He
closes his eyes and I shut mine as well. I'm hit with a blast of visions.
I see a huge wolf walking out of the forest line in our
backyard. It's dark outside but the full moon illuminates the images. He
starts racing towards the house followed by five other huge wolves. I
notice a bunch of eyes around the tree lining. Everything is illuminated
by the full moon. As he gets close my body jolts and I feel a light
explode from my eyes.
I open them stopping the vision and everything in the room is floating,
including the people. I gain control and everything falls.
"Holy shit!" Dominic says. "What the hell was that?"
"They plan to attack on the full moon. They will come from the mountains.
I saw Raiden and five others attacking head on towards the house, but there
will still be many wolves waiting in the forest." I said to my father. He
nods going over to the his table and picks up the phone.
"Code red." He says after a while before hanging up.
"Dad do you think it's enough time to get the pack ready?" Michael asks.
"I believe so. Connor you think you can organize the teams before the full
moon in six days?" My father say's to Cameron's father.
"I have a few teams on standby for instances such as this. The others will
be ready in a day or so. I'll need your instruction for their placements
and duties." Connor replies and my father nods, then turns to Dominic.
"Can your pack be ready by then as well?" Father asks.
"They will be ready for whomever comes. We'll take this pup..." Dominic
points to the new wolf. "With us and whatever he can tell us, will help
better our chances. We have some very strong and top ranking members in
our pack and the full moon will only improve us all."
"Good let me know if there is anything else we can aid you with. You all
know what to do so let's get this plan into action. We have six days until
the full moon. Let's make them count. All of our lives depend on it." My
father says dismissively as he picks up the phone. Everyone except for
Michael begins to file out of the den. I head upstairs as Connor and
Dominic begin to question the new guy.
"Darien." I look up to see him looking back smiling at me. I blush a bit.
"Excuse me." I ask.
"My name." He answers. "It's Darien." I just roll my eyes. I smell some
heat from both sides of me. I look to my left to see Cameron behind Connor
and on my right Alex behind Dominic. I exhale and walk past all of them
heading down to the kitchen to grab a drink. I open the fridge reaching
for a water bottle but stop, grabbing a bottle of Redd's Strawberry Ale. I
pop the top as I close the fridge and take a sip only to see Cameron
walking in with Alex. I roll my eyes setting my bottle on the island.
"I'm gonna stop both of you before you even proceed to stress me out any
further than I already am." I said leaning against the edge of the island
and crossing my arms. "What the hell is with you two? You're both acting
like two teenage boys going through puberty. Now, I don't know or really
care what your problems are but, get it together. I am not some female you
claim for mating and this whole growling shit stops now. I am not a
fucking trophy for the winner. So, check who you thought I was and think
of who I am right now in this moment. We are about to fight for our lives
and I don't want some bullshit rivalry going on within it. Now, I am not
averse to dating, AFTER this is all over but for now, quit acting like I am
already yours." I say standing up straight and grabbing my drink. I turn
walking towards them. "You want me then you better start acting like you
deserve me." I say as I push in between them to go out on the back patio
and sit on the steps looking up at the mountain peak. I hear the door open
and I don't even look back. Legs come on either side of me and arms pull
me close to a body. I fall back into the embrace willingly and knowingly.
"How did all of this get so fucked up Damien?" I asked my brother taking a
sip of my drink.
"I know what you mean Gayby." He said using a nickname I hadn't heard in
years. "But, don't worry. Nothing in this world will hurt you. We all
will lay our lives down to keep you safe. If that's what it takes." He
says giving me a squeeze. I grab ahold of his arms across my chest. They
felt like a lifeline to reality. "Believe me when I say, dad can handle
this Raiden situation. Speaking of you've never seen him in action have
you?" I shook my head no. "Well, when you do, you will never doubt why he
is the alpha and also why, we have nothing to fear about this situation or
any like this." The door opened and footsteps could be heard. Samantha
came and sat on my right side while Sophia sat on my left. They both laid
their heads on my shoulders and Damiens arms.
"So, this is it huh?" Sam asked grabbing my bottler and taking a swig.
"It looks like." Sophia replied. "I feel like we have so much to do over
these next six days. Ugh. I am so over all this already." She said
grabbing the bottle from Sam and downing it. I laughed a little bit.
"When did this little gathering start? And why wasn't I invited?" Michael
asked walking over to us, causing all of us to look over at him.
"Really I was just looking at the mountains." I said as he stood behind
us. He exhaled loudly before walking around us and sitting in front of me.
He reclined back against me, sitting like a king on a throne. ?
We all looked back out at the view and enjoyed just being together.
My gaze fell to the forest line and I had a flash of the vision. My body
got really hot. Sam lifted up and looked at me. I felt my eyes burn
again. Suddenly, the light shoots out of them. I heard Sophia scream my
name. I felt Sam tap into my mind.
"What is this?" She asks standing next to me in the vision. A
wolf a bit smaller but just as strong as Raiden stepped up to us.
Sniffing. I was surprised he could tell we were there.
`You both smell delicious.' He says causing Sam and I to look at
each other. We focus back on him. `I won't harm you when we come. I'll
take you two with me. You'll go great with my collection.' I finally
understood. He is the alpha's son.
"How are you able to see us?" I asked him.
`I have foresight as one of my abilities. I'm what you call a
stealer.' He says causing Sam to gasp.
"That's not possible. They are extinct." Sam challenges. He turns
to her.
'I assure you I am. I just happen to be the last known stealer,
Miss Skyland.' He says surprising us both.
"How do you know my name?" Sam questions.
'We know everything about all of you except...' He looks over at
me.
"Of course you don't. We don't even know how powerful he is." Sam
says grabbing my arm and pushing me behind her.
' Oh don't worry. I'll be finding you real soon.' He says to her before
winking at me and walking towards the back door.
Sam and I open our eyes to see everyone in front of us. She is still in
shock at what we saw. I glance over at Michael who is staring at me.
"I'd ask what just happened but, it's late and we are all tired. We can't
take any more bad news until we get some rest so let's just go to bed."
Michael says leading us into the house.
We all walk silently through the house to stairs heading to
sleep. As we break off to our own rooms through the hall, I walk to
father's office. I look in but he isn't there. I keep walking to his
room. I knock but there was no answer. I crack open the door and see him in
bed softly snoring. I close the door and start walking back to my room. I
go into my bathroom and take a quick shower and wrap my robe around me and
head out to my room. I go to my closet and put on some pajama pants and one
of my mother's sweaters. I look at it in the mirror as I put my hair in a
ponytail. I walk over to my bed looking at it for a second, then sigh
walking out of my room. I look up and see my siblings talking in front of
father's office. I'm so exhausted I don't even feel like talking. So, I
groggily smile and head to father's room. I open the door quietly and look
in. He's still fast asleep. I step in and close the door. I walk over to
his giant bed and climb in. I lay next to him and pull the covers over
myself. His arm pulls me closer and he kisses the top of my head. I look up
and can tell he's still asleep. I smile to myself. My siblings all come in
and join us in the bed. Michael climbs in on the other side of me and rests
his head on my shoulder. Sophia slides in behind him. Sam is on the other
side of father with Damian behind her. I take in a deep breath and smell
Michael's shampoo. I lean into both father and Michaels embrace and drift
off to sleep. The most content I've felt all day.
