	Chapter 5

Somethings Are Never What They Appear: Day 3

"You guys aren't serious are you?" Detective McCloud says. He chuckles a
bit until he realizes that none of us were laughing.

"It's not as far fetch as you think Detective." I say teleporting and
appearing in front of him. He jumps up looking at me with shock. I didn't
sense any fear from him though. I put both of my hands up trying to calm
him down and show that we didn't mean him any harm.

"Gabriel, what are you doing?" Michael began sounding more pissed than
anything. I shifted one hand back stopping him. I didn't even turn around
and look at him.

"He already heard what we were talking about. There is no point in keeping
him in the dark when we need his help anyway. Think about it. If we work
together we have a better chance of beating Raiden." I turn slightly with
a glance over my shoulder but, still keeping the detective in my view. `We
can still erase his memory of the conversation if, we need too.' I turn
back to the detective fully. "Detective McCloud, we need your help and you
need ours. I will fill you in with all that you need to know. But, you
will have to keep an open mind and trust me." He seems to relax a bit
more. I only just now realized that his hand was on his gun as it slid
off. He remained standing and a bit more aware of his surroundings.

"And if I'm not able to do that?" He asked and I heard a wolf growl from
behind me, causing an immense rage to boil inside of me. Before I could
stop it and calm down my eyes began to glow. I turned as my fangs shot out
of my gums. I felt a breeze in the room and heard the windows crack before
shattering. Most of the room sunk to the floor in submission as my gaze
reached them. I looked over as I felt a burning sensation that I
recognized very well. I made eye contact with my father and saw the golden
glow of his eyes. I lowered my head a bit.

"Gabriel, calm down." His voice was still in a fatherly tone but, I could
feel the hint of the alpha present. My glow disappeared. I felt sick.

"I knew this was going to happen." Michael said drawing everyone's
attention.

"What just happened?" Detective McCloud asked. Suddenly, I felt my stomach
lurk. I teleported to my toilet falling to my knees and lifting the seat.

Samantha can into the bathroom and sat down next to me. Damien
came in right after and got on his knees sitting on his feet. He started
rubbing my back. This went on for about 15 minutes. Every time I tried to
get up, I started throwing up again. Sophia walked in. I began feeling
claustrophobic.

"Well, Michael just covered most of the basics with him." She says leaning
against the door. "Now, you ready to explain the whole situation with a
certain detective?"

I simply get up and walk over to the sink grabbing my toothbrush. After
brushing my teeth, I use some mouth wash. After feeling minty fresh I look
in the mirror. I push my hair back and turn around leaning against the
sink. They were all looking at me waiting for my answer. I closed my eyes
taking a breath.

"I've been dreaming about him." I state simply.

"Like a love at first sight type of thing?" Damien asks confused.

"More like I don't dream, I have visions of the future." I answer.

"So, I was right. He is your mate." Sophia says jumping up and down with
stars in her eyes. I roll my eyes and continue on with what I was saying.

"Anyways, the thing that baffles me, is the fact that the guy from my
visions is a `were'. I don't know what kind but, I know he is. Titus is a
human though. I don't understand how my visions are mixing that up." I
was deep in my thoughts and forgot that the others were there. I looked up
after noticing that they were in my face trying to get my attention.

"Bro snap out of it." I heard Damien say as he waved his hands in front of
my face. I shook my head clearing away the thoughts as I brushed his hands
away.

"Wait, what?" I asked.

"I said, is it possible that he is just connected to your mate?" Damien
asked skeptically.

"It's not very likely." I answered him. "In the visions, it's him that
I'm kissing. I don't think it's possible based off the fact that I hadn't
even met him yet. And even when I first saw him I felt that same pull and
attraction to him as I did in the vision. It was pretty premature, but, I
knew it was the real deal."

"He's right." We all looked over to the door to see Michael standing with
his hands in his pockets. "When you see your mate, you just know. Sam,
you can testify as well." To which she nodded her head in agreement.

"For those with an advanced mental capacity like Gabriel and I we are shown
who we will be with. It doesn't matter if we have met them or not." Sam
said clarifying it for me.

"But, that still doesn't answer the question of why he is human instead of
a `were' like he was in the vision." I said still fishing for answers if
they had any. I started to feel that pull again. "Well, on that note I
will be back." I tell them walking into my room to pull on some flip
flops.

"Where are you going? You know we have some work to do and dad doesn't
want us to leave anytime soon." Michael says. The pull isn't too strong
so I know I have enough time to go and tell dad before I am pulled into the
realm of the afterlife. I head to his office. When I walk in all the
talking stops and everyone turns to look at me as the five of us walk in.
I see Titus standing next to dad. And I quickly walk over to them ignoring
everyone else.

"What's going on?" My father asks me as I approach them.

"It's mom. She's about to pull me to their realm." I tell him. I hear a
collective gasp from everyone that doesn't know about it. "I am not sure
why and I'm not sure how long I will be there." I let him know.

"Maybe you should tell her that you are needed here." He says not even
believing his own words.

"Wait, didn't Mrs. Skyland pass away?" Titus asks. I nod my head.

"Father you know I have no control over when I go and when I leave there.
If they are pulling me there, it is something important that I must be
informed of. That is the only way I am able to go there until I fully gain
my powers." I tell dad trying to set his mind at ease.

"Well, can you at least take someone with you?" He asks me.

"I'll go." Alex says stepping forward surprising us all. I simply shake
my head.

"It doesn't..." I begin.

`Gabriel its time.' I hear my mother say as the pull intensifies.

"It doesn't work like that. I have to go she is pulling me." I say
stepping away from them.

"Wait, I have an..." I hear Sam say. Before she finishes I disappear as
she grabs my hand.

I blink and I am in the realm of the afterlife and am still holding
onto Samantha's hand. She holds it tight as she looks around behind me in
the direction she is facing. I look past her to see my mother and
Alistair. He has a very shocked expression. My mother looks as if she is
about to cry. Her empathy hits me and I let go of Samantha's hand.

"Uh, Hi mom." I say causing Sam to instantly spin around.

"Mom?" She says. "Where is she?" She says looking at me over her
shoulder. I place a hand on her shoulder and point.

"You don't see her?" I ask.

"No I..." She stops as she turns.

"You are her anchor Gabriel. You must maintain contact with her or she
won't see us." Alistair says. I take her hand and we both walk over to
them hugging our mother. They both start crying. Alistair and I begin to
cry as well. My mother's empathy taking ahold of us all. "I am sorry to
cut this short but, we have to make this quick. The realm is not very kind
to outsiders entering it." Alistair says glancing towards Samantha
quickly. He walks around them and stands next to me. Mom and Sam begin
talking about something but, my attention is focused back on Alistair.

"What's going on?" I ask him.

"It's about your mate." He says looking at me a bit saddened.

"What about him?" I ask unsure if I should be sad or scared of the answer.

"Well, there isn't really a way to say this without it hurting so, I'll
just say it and let it sink in on its own." He says taking a breath.
"Since you are a carrier of the spirit, you have to mate with another
`were'. It is the only way to keep the lines running. It doesn't matter
what species of `were'. It just has to be one of them. It can't be a
human. The DNA that they pass on to their offspring, isn't strong enough
for you to reproduce. Even if that wasn't the case, your leopard will not
let a human mate with her." He finishes letting what he said sink in. It
hit me and I began to understand why it was so odd to me. I then had a
thought about it.

"Is it possible for someone of extreme caliber to plant that vision?" I
asked him. I appeared to be thinking it over.

"For something of this importance, I don't even think that you would be
able to do that. There are just too many variables that would have to be
changed." He said honestly.

"I just don't see how my vision and the reality don't fit. If it's not
possible to change it." I say thinking out loud.

"That is troubling to me as well. I'll do some research here and see what I
can find out." As he finished the storm clouds began to roll in. I looked
over at Mom and Sam who were laughing about their conversation. They look
up as it starts getting darker.

"It looks like it's gonna rain." Sam says.

"That means it's time for us to leave." I tell Sam. Her face takes on a
sad face.

"Can't we stay?" She asks mom.

"The realm is kicking you out. If you stay past your need you could throw
off the balance of things." She says pulling us both into a hug. "I love
you guys. So, much. Give my love to the others." We both nodded our
heads stepping back as we began to lift off the ground slowly. "And
Samantha." She looked down at mom. "I'm glad you were able to make it
here. I look forward to you coming back." With that said we were sucked
into the clouds. We blink and we are back in the office in front of
everyone again.

"What did she say?" Father asked us interrupting the silence. I didn't
want to say out loud. So, I sent the family a message of what was said over
our mental link. "Did she say anything else?"

"She said she loves you." I said smiling.

"Okay." He said smiling himself. "I am going to take everyone with me to
the company. We need to figure out how much damage we are dealing with."
He said walking over placing his hand on my shoulder. He glances back at
Titus. "Titus you are going to stay here with Gabriel." He looks back to
me. "You need to explain some stuff to him." I nod my head and watch
everyone leave the room leaving us alone.

I look back over at him. He is leaning back against the desk with both
hands on the edge. He has a smirk on his face. I can feel my face flush.
I walk over to the door signaling for him to follow me. We walk down the
hall, down the stairs, and into the kitchen. I walk over to the fridge and
grab two bottles of Gatorade. Handing him one I walk out the back door to
the patio furniture. I extend a hand signaling to sit down across from me.
He pulls the chair out taking a seat.

"I guess I have a lot to explain. How much did they tell you?" I ask him
looking up at the mountain peaks watching the sun fall slowly.

"They pretty much told me that there is a supernatural world. That you all
were a mix of `were' species. That you guys are on the brink of a huge
fight and the other side took the kids as hostages." He said leaning back
in his seat. "If I had not seen what you guys could do, then, I wouldn't
have believed any of it."

"Detective..." He cuts me off.

"Please, just call me Titus." He smiles.

"Well, Titus, that's pretty accurate so far. The best way to explain it is
to answer any questions that you may have." I say sitting up straight.

"For starters, when you and Sam left, where did you go?" He asks me.

"Well, like I said before my mother is dead. For creatures of light, their
form of heaven is called the realm of the afterlife. That is where we all
go after we die as long as our light isn't gone. I am able to travel
between their realm and ours. Right now I haven't grown into all of my
powers yet so, I can only go when they have something important to explain
to me. When all of my abilities have been controlled I can go at my own
will." I say leaving it open for another question.

"Now what are you exactly? Your brother said that you aren't like the rest
of them. You are the one that needs to be protected with all costs."

"Indeed, I am not like them. My family has connection to the first. The
first gave her spirit to one of her children. Since then, her spirit was
passed down through each generation. Now, I am the carrier. Now that I am
carrying her spirit, I am one of the strongest light creatures that lives.
With that comes a lot of responsibility. I'm most vulnerable now due to
the simple fact that I am not fully in control of my abilities yet. Which
is why they are trying to protect me most of all. If I die, were-cats will
cease to exist. We are the strongest `were' species alive. That would
leave all of the dark creatures for the werewolves to protect humanity
from." I finish taking a sip from my bottle.

"So what kind of `abilities' do you have? I've already seen you teleport
but, what else can you do?" He asks.

"I have full access to every part of my brain. So far, I have advance
brain function. I think faster than anyone, I have telepathy but not as
strong as Samantha, I am clairvoyant so I can see into the future, and I
able to control anything on a molecular level. So far, that is all I know
of." I glance back up at the mountain peak watching the last bits of the
sun sink just out of view.

"Well, that sounds pretty cool. How are you able to tell when someone is
one of you?" He takes a sip.

"We are all able to sense the presence of a light or even a dark being.
It's sort of like a sixth sense." I answer.

"Why did you guys let me in on all of this stuff?" His face looks a bit
confused.

"You are a detective. Your status in the police force is very advantageous
to us. The supernatural world has head-quarters all over the world. The
one for our region is on lock down. They won't be able to send aid so, we
will need your help. With everything that is going on we have to make sure
that there are no human casualties. You will have to make sure that all of
them stay out of the mountains once the fighting starts. It will be a full
moon soon. We all will be at our peak of strength. With that said, you
will have to make sure that no other humans find out about us. If we have
to step in, then things could get worse. There are humans that know about
us. They, have become hunters. Most help us fight the dark beings. There
are still some that use their knowledge to fight against us though. We
don't kill humans. But, that doesn't mean we won't use our abilities on
them. Mostly, an alpha for the area will wipe their memory of our
existence." I explain taking the top off my bottle to take a sip. After
putting the bottle back on the table I look over and see him staring into
my eyes as if he is trying to find something in them. I look down twisting
the cap back on.

"The way you all find mates like the stories, movies, and TV shows say?" I
chuckle a bit at his question.

"They paint a misconception of us. We do find mates. They are either
light creatures or humans. As far as wolves and cats go, a cat will only
have one mate for their life. Once that mate dies, we become sterile.
Wolves on the other hand have only one mate at a time. It's like marriage
for them. They are committed and loyal to one person at a time but they
have the option of changing that mate." I said engaging in our staring
contest. His eyes were confident and unchanging. I was tempted to try and
peek into his thoughts but, my better judgement refused to break that
privacy.

"So, your mate could be a human?" He asks me touching a dangerous subject.
I lower my gaze standing from my chair and walking over to the railing.
Crossing my arms I lean forward against it looking up at the light still
present over the mountain tops. I hear his chair slid back and his
footsteps walking over to me. I glance over my shoulder following him.

"No." I say simply.

"But, didn't you say..." He started but I cut him off.

"Like I said, I am different than them. Since I carry the first's spirit
within me, I have to mate with another `were'. The DNA that humans pass on
to their offspring, isn't strong enough for me to reproduce. I have to
reproduce." I finish as he walks over leaning against the rail as well.

"Have you found your mate yet?" He looks up at the sky.

"I thought I did. Since I am a telepath and I have foresight, I am given a
vision of who my mate is. Unfortunately, he wasn't who I thought so, I
guess I'll have to wait."

"Was it Alex? He totally has a thing for you." He asks a bit
sarcastically. I chuckle.

"No, I don't think its Alex." I let him know.

"Was he here today? Is it that guy Cameron?" He presses looking down at
me.

"Well, as entertaining as this conversation is I'm going to end it. And
shouldn't you be out searching with your team?" I ask walking to the table
to grab my drink and bring it over to the stairs sitting on the second to
last step.

"Nope, I am just a point of contact for the moment. Nice deflection
though." He says walking over and sitting next to me. I feel his shoulder
touching mine. I shake my head and my hair falls hiding my smile from his
view.

"I wasn't deflecting. I just don't want to get into that. How about you
McCloud, is someone waiting for you to come home?" I push right back.

"Yep." He says nonchalant shrugging his shoulder. I stiffen in surprise
not even turning to look at him. We are quiet for about ten seconds before
I feel him shake a bit. I suddenly see his hand lift to my face pushing my
hair back so he is making eye contact. "His name is Rocky. My dog." I
brush his hand off as soon as he says it. He starts laughing. "Aw, don't
pout." He says between each fit of laughter.

"I'm not pouting smartass." I say putting my bottle down in between my
feet. I pull a hair tie off my wrist and put my hair up in a ponytail.
"What kind of dog do you have anyway?"

"He is a Doberman-German shepherd mix." He says pulling out his cellphone
and handing it to me. I take ahold of the phone and look at a picture of
the dog. Sliding to the next image I see the two of them together with a
guy on the phone behind them. He is leaning against the dog looking in the
opposite direction.

"Who is that?" I ask him handing the phone back. He takes a look at the
screen and smirks.

"That's my brother." He said locking his phone and sliding it in his
pocket. He leans back on his elbows. I lean against the rail just
watching him. "He is on his last year of college. He is one of those bad
ass daredevils. I'm worried about him though. We are polar opposites."
He chuckles thinking. "Basically he is like my evil twin. The fact that
my dad has such high expectations for him doesn't really help him either."

"I take it you don't get along with your dad." It was more of a question
than a statement but, was understandable if he didn't want to answer it.
He glances at me out of the corner of his eye for a second before looking
away.

"Something like that." He says grabbing my bottle and taking a sip. I
just stare at him in shock. This man has some pretty big ones to just do
that. "What about you and your brother Michael? Is he always
this... intense?" Now it was my turn to chuckle.

"No, Michael is just really over protective of me. So, he doesn't like me
around anyone he doesn't know. He is the one that made the first
connection with me after I changed for the first time." I answered leaning
over grabbing my drink back from him. "Was it really that hard to walk
over to the table and grab your own Gatorade?"

"It was. So, how does that work?" I send him the mental summary of the
way it was explained to me. His eyes opened wider. "You are able to get
into my head?" He asked with a shocked expression. I instantly throw my
hands up.

"I only sent you that message. I wouldn't invade your privacy like that."
I said to which he smiled a bit totally relaxing. I lowered my hands. I
grab ahold of my bottle fiddling with it suddenly feeling a bit nervous.
"Do you trust me?" I asked suddenly feeling totally vulnerable. He sits
up looking at me. I can feel the intensity of his gaze burning a hole
through my eyelids. His hand takes ahold of my chin and I feel something.
As soon as I feel it, it's gone. Not too sure what it was. He lifts my
head and I look up catching those amethyst eyes. Lost in a pool of emotion
I'm momentarily hypnotized.

"For some reason I do trust you. I can't explain it but, you are an
important person to me. I get this feeling like we are connected. I
didn't say anything at first because I didn't want to freak you out. That
and after seeing where you live and your family, I kind of felt unworthy."
He said smirking. I took in what he said and just stared into his eyes.

"So," I began but, paused looking down for a second. I lifted my gaze
slowly to meet his eyes again. "Are you always this cheesy?" I asked
stifling a laugh and totally changing the mood. His head falls with a
sigh.

"Of course, you would change the situation. I'm pouring my heart out in a
way. You're so cruel." He says with fake sadness.

"And just like that Gryffindor is back in the game." I say before laughing
again. After my laughter dies down, we remain quiet for a bit looking up
at the sky as it starts to get darker.

"What about you?" He asks.

"What about me?" I ask back looking at him confused. He glances down at
me seeing that I'm looking at him, and looks back up.

"Do you trust me?"

"I do." I answer without hesitation. "I have a feeling I would know if
you were lying to me." That came out a little more matter of fact than I
wanted it to. We both remained quiet a bit longer. We could hear a wolf
howl in the distance.

"Was that one of your team?" He asked looking over at me.

"Yeah, he just reported that he hasn't found anything yet." I answered.

I hear a car pull up to the house. I stand up, I dust myself off a bit.
Not sure if anything was actually on me but, can't be too sure. I grab my
bottle leaning back down extending my other hand to Titus. He looks at it
then back at my eyes taking ahold of it. I help him up. I turn expecting
my hand to just slide off his as I turn walking inside but, that's not what
happens. He tightens his grip on my hand. Not letting it slip out of his
grasp as he walks past me leading me into the house. I am stuck in shock
following behind him. His dominance is a total surprise but, totally
welcomed as well. I think about the current situation. I know I can't
mate with a human. But, it never said I couldn't date one. I think I
deserve a little freedom to make my own choices for a bit.

As we walk into the house through the kitchen, I hear the front door open.
I snatch my hand back from him. At this moment in time, if any of the
other guys see us holding hands, his life might as well be forfeit. He
glances back at me from over his shoulder. I don't even look up at him. I
just shake my head.

"Don't try to make them mad. Michael has a temper and would definitely try
to kill you." I warn him as I walk past him.

"I'm not scared of them." He says honestly. I look at him over my
shoulder.

"You should be." I smirk turning to walk over to them.

"Your father on the other hand, I have some fear of. But, your brothers
don't scare me." He smirks back at me.

We enter the foyer just as the front door opens again. Michael opens the
door holding it open for father, who smiled at me as he entered the house.
I smiled back at him feeling relaxed that nothing else has happened.
Michael follows father up the stairs. People start filing in the house
going up the stairs after them. The rest of my siblings come in last
closing the door. They walk over to Titus and I, watching the last person
go around the corner into the office. Once out of sight, they walk past us
heading to the kitchen. I follow pushing Titus along with me. We walk in
to the kitchen and down the stairs into the basement. We walk over to the
couches and sit quietly for a while. I am the first to break the silence.

"So, what's going on?"

"It's hard to say really." Sophia says.

"Well, Raiden reached out to dad." Damien says. The girls glare at him.
He looks between them annoyed. "What? I wasn't going to keep him in the
dark. You heard mom. Tell him what he needs to know. He has a right and
needs to know this." The girls both take a deep breath and exhale it.

"Well, thank you. But, why would that need to be kept from me unless it
was..." I trailed off watching the reaction on their faces change. "Oh."
The only thing I could get out before Sam spoke up.

"We aren't exactly sure what was said about you. Father and Michael kicked
us out after you were mentioned. That office has so much security and
blocking, even my telepathy isn't strong enough to break that barrier."
She says pulling her hair tie out of her hair. I stand and begin walking
over to the door.

"Well, I guess we go find out." I say as they all stand and follow me up
to my father's office. As we get to the office all conversation stops.
"What's going on dad?" I ask. He gestures for us to sit. We walk to the
couches and chaise that are unoccupied.

"Michael and I spoke with Raiden today." He says glancing between the four
of us. "He made an offer that I wouldn't accept. So, all of our efforts
to avoid a fight were of no use. He is going to come and fight to kill."
He finished. He had an unreadable expression. It felt weird and I got a
slight chill.

"What was the offer?" Damien asked.

"The offer was unexpected. It appears that his taste has changed slightly.
He wants me and Gabriel to surrender ourselves to him. Otherwise he is
going to sweep through here and kill all of us." I instantly interrupt
him.

"Wait, so, why are we not on our way to him now?" I ask standing. Michael
stands as well.

"Don't be stupid Gabe." He says annoyed.

"Are we really going to risk so many lives on two people?" I ask him
getting annoyed myself.

"Yes we are. Think about it before you are so quick to give your life
away." He says turning his back to me in a way of dismissing me. He walks
over to the computer and sits down.

"I'm not giving my life away. He is not going to kill me. It's something
else." I remark correcting him.

"You maybe but, we aren't giving you or dads life to him." Michael says
again dismissing me.

I calm myself enough to not growl at him. I feel a strong but gentle hand
on my shoulder softly urging me to sit back down. I glance over to see
Titus with a soft smile. I hear a soft growling in the background. I turn
swiftly to see Alex with glowing blue eyes. Behind him is a blond shaking
his head but, I can't see his face. Quiet conversation's break out.

"ENOUGH!" My father says loudly silencing the room. He looks over to me.
"Michael is right Gabriel. If we hand ourselves over we aren't saving
anyone. Think about it, we give him the spirit carrier and an Alpha, he
will kill all of us. We would be doing more harm than good. That can't
happen, if he kills you we are all dead anyway."

"Then, are we strong enough to fight him." I ask him.

"I wouldn't know. There is so much about our enemy that we don't know. He
is excellent at covering his tracks and concealing anything about himself."
Dad says.

"He's right, even his family information is concealed. Believe me I've
checked." Samantha says unhappy about that.

"Whomever it is that is doing his IT work is really good. I thought I
might be able to undo all the programing he did but, that isn't easy.
Coming from me that is a really big deal." Sophia says.

"I was able to get in contact with Alpha Xerxes." Michael says typing away
on the keyboard. "He is sending half of his people to our aid. Hopefully,
that will change the tides a bit more in our favor."

"Well, that's good." My father says. He looks over to the group. "You
all have your orders. Get to them."

"Yes Alpha." They all say simultaneously standing to leave. All of us
begin to leave the office.

"Detective McCloud, I wish to speak with you." My father calls in his
authoritative tone. I look over at him skeptically. My father smiles.
"Gabriel don't worry. You will see him tomorrow. Go and get some rest."
He says walking over and kissing my forehead. I look up at Titus. He
shrugs smiling. My father closes the door after him.

I simply shake my head and head to my room. I could try and get around all
of my father's blocks but I wasn't in the mood. I was exhausted. I turn
heading for my room. I stop when I get there. The door is cracked open.
Getting annoyed the door slams open as I walk in with my arms crossed.

"What the hell are you doing in my room Alex?" I say walking over to my
closet to grab some sweat pants on.

"So, instead of picking one of us, you tell us to deserve you. Yet, you
have this human fawning all over you. Did I miss anything else?" He asks
as he puts down a picture from my dresser. I stay quiet as I put my
clothes on my bed. "You have got to be kidding me." He laughs
sarcastically. "A fucking human."

"Alex, shut up. He is a human. I can't be mates with a human. So, stay
out of it. And, if I had chosen him, what?" I asked. He stares at me
defiantly shoving his hands in his pockets as he walks over to me. "And
what the hell are you doing in my room?" I asked. He rests his forehead
on mine.

"I'm sorry. But, when I saw how he put his hands on you to comfort you I
lost my composure." He said moving his head back to look into my eyes.

"Get out." I say simply with no emotion. I walk to my bathroom slamming
the door behind me. I lean against the sink trying not to scream. My body
starts to shake and I start to feel the push. "Mom you have such perfect
timing." I froze once I felt the presence of someone else.

`This could all be over if you gave up.' Came a voice. It was a deep
voice that sounded like multiple people.

"Who are you are why are you in my head?" I push back trying to find where
it's coming from.

`You can't win this one. We are far ahead of any of your moves.
Everything is going directly as planned. The hack in your network, the
kids, central, they were all part of the plan. Even getting the police
involved. You think the way you all found out about it was coincidence?'
He asked chuckling. Again I got a chill. I was close to finding him
though. He was close. I have to keep him connected.

"You guys still don't get it..." I tried but, was cut off by his dark
laughter.

`No. You don't get it. This, was checkmate a long time ago. You think we
haven't been planning every single one of your moves since the start? Then,
you are sadly mistaken. It's over.' He laughs maniacally. `Oh, and
before you think that you could trace me, you can't. This is just a
vessel. A host I'm using.' More laughter.

"You're a demon." I state.

`You're finally getting the big picture. The only reason all of this is
going on, is because of you. You're the only one strong enough. Yes,
Raiden wanted to take over by getting your father. But, what he didn't
know is that we needed him as well. We used him just as much as he used
us. You! It's always been you.' He says darkly.

"Strong enough for what?" He simply laughs. "ANSWER ME!" I yell.

`You'll know soon enough.' His voice goes deep and dark. He laughs
coldly. The door explodes open and I see my family rushing in. His
presence is gone and I'm left with nothing but anger and fear. A rage
boils in me and I let out a scream. The scream is so powerfully I feel
everything shake. My dad wraps his arms around me. I start to calm down.
Slowly gaining control.

Twenty minutes later, we are in my father's office. I had just
finished explaining to them what happened. Apparently, while I was still
in the mind link with the demon I was levitating all electronic equipment.
When I screamed, I let out a shockwave that shut off the power in the
house. The back-up generator picked up as soon as the main power failed.

"Dad, what are we going to do? I have a feeling that Raiden isn't the only
one that entered a contract. The demon kept referring to `we'. One
light-contract we could have handled. We aren't prepared for multiples."
Sophia said pacing around the room.

"She's right dad. Even I don't have the kind of power to stop them all."
I started thinking everything through. "I mean, that demon was able to get
into my head and I wasn't able to track him. They keep countering our
moves and it's really becoming quite taxing."

"We need to come up with a plan to get Gabriel out and away from here."
Damien stated thinking.

"The safest place would have been Central but, they already started their
lock down. They have the best security in the world. The only place that
has never been broken into during a lock down. It would be perfect to get
him in there." Sophia said stopping her pacing, walking over to a chair,
and flopping down on it.

We all looked over at father. He and Michael were looking at the computer
screen. They hadn't been listening to anything that was being said.
Michael was focused on whatever he was doing and dad didn't seem the least
bit worried about anything. I looked over my shoulder noticing that Titus
was next to me rubbing my back. I stood up walking over to Michael and
dad.

"Father..." I said finally getting his attention. He stood up
acknowledging me. "What are we going to do?" Everything in the room
seemed to stop with his smile. I felt totally fine. It was a feeling of
complete serenity. I had a flash of the plan he and Michael had come up
with. "You plan on sending me to Central." It was a realization that I
said out loud.

"Sophia is right. Sending you would be the safest bet. You would be
protected there." I tilted my head looking at him. He continued. "As
alpha of the pack that holds the carrier, I have specific instructions on
reaching Central." He said simply.

"You mean there was a way for us to get in contact with central this whole
time?" Damien asked standing. Father never even glanced over at him.

"We have had the same plan since the beginning." He said still looking at
me. "You were always going to be taken there. The only thing we didn't
know, was the way to get you there without the enemy knowing." He said
finally glancing over to Titus who just walked in. Then, it all made
sense. That's why he told him to stay back. "Detective McCloud is going
to bring you to Central. They are already expecting you." He said turning
and walking back over to Michael.

"No." I said with conviction.

"Gabriel, this isn't a choice. This is an order." Michael said as his
fingers continued typing away on the keyboard.

"If we are going to win this fight, I need to be here. We can use the
contact to have them send help. I am not lea..." I was cut off swiftly.

"Quit acting like such a child." Michael said standing and walking around
the desk. His movement and attitude surprised me. "You keep thinking that
this is a choice, like you're sacrifice isn't going to be a big deal. Our
entire species relies on you living on. Just stop!" I felt a hand on my
shoulder. I glance back to see Titus smile at me.

"They are right." He said simply there was something off about his smile.
I couldn't place it so, I ignored it.

"I can't just leave. I refuse to have people fight for me as I sit locked
away. If there is going to be a fight, I will be in it." I said with
finality in my voice as I turned to face Titus.

"No." My father said behind me. "You won't." I closed my eyes taking a
breath. Turning to face him strongly, I opened my eyes. His index and
middle finger tapped the center of my forehead. "Duratus in a fluctu
soporis!" My vision flashed white and everything around me became hazy. I
watch as my body fell back being caught and picked up by Titus.

`Father what did you do to me?' I asked receiving not answer. I walked
over to Sam trying to get her attention. `Sam, Sam, SAM!' I yelled hoping
her telepathy would pick up on my cries.

"What just happened?" Samantha asked. Father looked over at her.

"This was the only way to get him to safety and you know it." Michael
said.

"Gabriel is very strong willed. Like your mother, once they're set on
doing something, they will make it happen. Don't worry. He will be fine.
He is only sleeping. The head alpha at Central will wake him up once we
get him there. Titus..." He said grabbing his attention. "You know your
orders?" Titus nodded. "Good. My son is in your care. Should anything
happen to him, there is nowhere on Earth that I won't find you." My father
said smiling with his eyes closed. It was creepy. I could feel his power
dripping off of him like venom off the fangs of a viper. The air became so
thick, I started to feel my breathing grow shallow.

I focused back on Samantha. She was a telepath. There had to be some way
to reach her. I walked over out stretching a hand to her. I touched her
shoulder and went right through her. I took in a breath and exhaled it
quickly shaking my head. That obviously wasn't going to work, just figured
it was worth a shot. I walked over to father and lifted my hand to touch
him. He looked right into my eyes.

"Somno!" He says with a bit of a confused look. My body stiffens and I
begin to feel very sleepy. I start to fall backwards. Before my
consciousness is gone my mother and Alistair appear.

`Come with us Gabriel.' Alistair says reaching for me. `We have much to
discuss.' As I try my best to lift my hand to his, he leans forward
grabbing ahold of mine. When he has a firm grip on my hand we
disappear. We appeared at the top of the mountain. We sat watching the
last bit of sun disappear over the horizon.

"Where are we?" I ask trying to find out what just happened.

"You are in the Concelo." Alistair says sitting next to me. "It's a veil
that hides the spirits from the rest of the world." He says suddenly
pulling a cup of tea out of nowhere. I smile shaking my head.

"So mommy dearest, how are you?" I ask her as she leans into my side
hugging me with one arm.

"I am well. But, like all cases before this you know that this isn't a
social call." She says kissing my forehead. I sigh.

"Lay it on me mom." I say before thinking that over. "Wow. That totally
could have been a lot more thought out before I said that." I said
giggling a bit.

"Alistair, you're up." She said verbally tagging him in.

Meanwhile, on the Skyland estate, Alpha William is preparing to
send his son off with Detective McCloud. He begins to have doubts about
this new gentleman. He glances at Michael and Damien. Knowing that they
both are dominant males. Male `weres' are territorial and very protective
of their families. Especially, when it comes to the female members of the
family. Because of the spirits presence within Gabriel, he falls under
that category. William connects with the both of them.

`I need for you both to do another sweep on Detective McCloud. Get Sophia
on it as well. She is an expert at finding hacks and covers.' He says as
they walk out with Detective McCloud still carrying Gabriel.

`Alright dad.' Damien says as Michael just nods his head.

"Detective..." William begins. "You understand your orders, correct?"
The detective looks over his shoulder at William.

"Yes Sir. Don't worry about anything." He says looking down at the
unconscious man in his arms. "I won't allow any harm to come to him. You
have my word." He says as they descend the stairs.

"I hope you keep it." Michael says as they reach the front door. He
kisses the top of Gabriel's head. As he straightens up, he leans into
Detective McCloud's ear placing a hand on his shoulder. "Because if you
don't, I will personally make sure that your life is ended with or without
my powers." Michael whispers as he hops up the stairs. Heading back to
the office.

"Please make sure you protect my Brother." Damien says kissing Gabriel's
forehead. He stands turning away reaching into his pocket. He turns back
to the detective. He uses a medical needle gun injecting a microchip as
well as taking a blood sample. "I just injected you with a chip that will
help us keep up with you. It will circuit throughout your bloodstream.
Once, you're in central the chip will fry and come out of your sweat
pores." Damien said leaving out he took a sample and heading up to the
office as well.

"Your son's really don't like me do they?" Detective McCloud says
chuckling.

"Don't worry, they hate you." William smiles. "As long as you keep
Gabriel safe, you have absolutely nothing to worry about. My son has
feelings for you." William says stroking Gabriel's hair out of his face.
"I hope you realize that." He says leaning forward and kissing Gabriel's
cheek. He rests his forehead on his youngest child's. He whispers
something to Gabriel and stands opening the front door. "You need to
hurry." The detective nods and walks out the door heading to his car.
"And don't forget to stick to your orders."

"Don't worry Sir. Everything will work out for the best." Detective
McCloud says putting Gabriel in the passenger seat and buckling him in. He
shuts the door, waving to William as he walks to the driver's side.

William got a peculiar feeling. He watched as the lights of the
2014 Pontiac GTO peeled out of its parking spot and down the driveway.

"Please be safe and take care my son." William said closing the front
door.

I focus my attention to Alistair.

"I did some looking into what you said about the vision." He said taking a
sip of his tea and setting the cup down. "I talked with many of the
previous carriers. There has never been a vision of a mate that was
inaccurate. We may have figured out a way of getting around it
though. Since our enemy has the gift foresight they are able to see other
things as well. If he was able to see who your mate was supposed to be, he
may have been able to make you perceive that your mate wasn't exactly who
you thought it was." Alistair began but, I interrupted him.

"At first, I thought that was the case. But, now that I know him, I know
that this is the real thing. There is no way that he could've kept me
believing he was my mate for so long without me catch wind of his
deception. There is..." I stopped as I begin to feel something. I begin to
hear my father's voice in my head. He was speaking another language.

"Non confidere hoc homine. Titus est latentes aliquid." I heard him say.

I looked up at mom and over to Alistair.

"What does that mean?" I asked them.

"It's Latin. It means: I do not trust this man. Titus is hiding
something." My mom said looking down at me.

"What is that supposed to mean?" I said thinking deeply to dissect fathers
meaning.

"This may be exactly what we feared. This sounds a lot like the prophecy
that was written down long ago." Alistair said looking at my mother. I was
confused.

"What prophecy?" I asked unsure.

William walked into his office to see his children around his
desk. Samantha was on the computer reading an email from Jeff. Michael,
Sophia, and Damien sat with their laptops. When they saw their father had
entered Samantha called everyone's attention.

"So, my friends from Central translated the prophecy that they found in
Latin. My friend Jeff sent me an email summarizing the prophecy. You guys
need to listen to this." Samantha said focusing back on the computer
screen.

"How important is this to what's going on right now?" Michael asks as his
fingers continue to flow across his keyboard.

"The kind of importance that could determine if we win this fight or lose
Gabriel." Samantha's says.

"Go ahead and explain it to us Samantha." William says as he walks over and
plops down on the chaise feeling exhausted all of a sudden. Leaning back
and closing his eyes.

"It begins by saying, sometime in the future the 'were' species will be
tested. This test will determine if we are helping humanity or if we are
becoming the opposite of what we were always me to be. The carrier of the
wolf spirit and the carrier of the cat spirit will become mates." Samantha
was about to continue but she was interrupted by Damien.

"Wait a second. We don't even know who the carrier of the wolf spirit is."
He says a bit confused.

"That's not the part we should be worried about right now. Keep
listening." Samantha says.

"The carrier of the wolf spirit will be last of his kind. He holds the
ability of a stealer. With him comes a dark force. It is up to the carrier
of the cat spirit to deliver him from darkness." Alistair says looking into
my eyes making sure I'm getting all of the information. He notices that I
shift slightly. "I'm going to go out on a limb and say that you know who
this is?"

"I do actually. He is the one that affected my vision. He also happens to
be Raiden's son." I state as I run my fingers through my hair brushing it
out of my face.

"It will be a vigorous battle. But, if the carrier of the cat spirit is
not victorious, then his spirit will be taking over by the dark
creatures. Bringing life to those who have fallen in darkness. This rise,
the light will soon be wiped from the planet." Samantha says. She briefly
looks up at her father. He still has his eyes closed and appears to be in
deep thought. She looks back down at the computer monitor seeing that there
was still more to go. In Williams mind, he was still trying to figure out
ways to save his family. He was also unsure of what he was going to
do. The full moon rising was upon them. He was already beginning to feel
its effects. He knew that his enemies would be as well.

"I found something that was a little bit unexpected." Sophia says. She
continues to look at her laptop screen. William stands up opening his
eyes. He walks over to where his children are working.

"What did you find Sophia?" William asks, as he looks over her shoulder at
the screen.

"You know after the network hack, I started looking into Raiden. As I was
looking in his files and official records. I noticed that nothing about his
personal life is recorded. Even the information about his family seems to
be erased. I looked through all the backed up files and his network
storages, and I haven't found anything. It looks like he went through
great lengths to hide whatever he was doing as well as his family
matters. I have a feeling that whatever he was hiding isn't good for
us. But, I think I may be able to find out." Sophia stated. She goes quiet
and her fingers being flying across the keyboard again.

"Raiden's son is a stealer. Well that makes sense. What does he look
like?" Alistair asks me. I look down and begin playing with my
fingernails.

"Well, you see the thing is." I began.

"What?" Alistair pressed.

"I don't actually know what his human form looks like. When I saw him in
the vision he was in wolf form. And it was dark so I can't even tell what
color his fur actually was." I said a bit embarrassed.

"Well that's helpful." Alistair said sarcastically. I roll my eyes.

"The last time that we did a background check on Detective McCloud
everything checked out?" Michael asked. He received nods and other sounds
of acknowledgement so, he continued. "Well, all of his credentials were
very accurate. But, what was hidden by the program, from our search the
first time was the death certificate." He said looking up at his father
William. William closed his eyes lowering his head in disbelief. He
understood the severity of the situation before anyone else.

"So, that means?" Samantha began.

"It means that we just gave the enemy Gabriel on a silver platter."
William said trying to control his rage. The air around him began to
thicken.

"Well, that may not be the only bad news." Damien said taking his laptop
to the desk and hooking up to the Ethernet cable. "When I installed the
microchip I also took a blood sample." He said pulling up the police
records. "After I cross referenced the sample that I took with the samples
from his police file. They we totally irreconcilable. The sample that I
took wasn't even human."

"So, who is he then?" Asked Michael.

"Sorry to intrude but, have any of you seen Alex? He hasn't reported into
me since we left earlier." Alpha Dominic asked walking in looking around
the room. Once, he looked at William, his demeanor changed instantly.
"What's wrong?"

"Gabriel, you know that me knowing that tad bit of information would have
been a lot more helpful, had you told me this before your father froze
you." Alistair said standing and starting to pace back and forth.

"How exactly would that have helped?" I asked becoming annoyed with his
attitude. My mother gently squeezed my shoulder.

"Then, I would have been able to know then what I know now." He says
stopping his pacing and looking over at us defeated. "You pretty much just
screwed yourself."

"How so?" I asked scared of the answer he was going to give me.

"I did a further search through the government database. I just found out
a match." Damien says looking up from his computer screen and falling back
in his chair looking up to the ceiling. "His real name is Titus
McCloud. But he isn't the Detective Titus McCloud. His name was changed
four years ago. That's around the same time the real Detective McCloud
died."

"A stealer has the ability to conceal his presence. That means he could be
touching you and you wouldn't be able to sense anything about him that he
was trying to hide from you." Alistair says looking up at my mother. She
gasps as the realization hits her. Her hand slides off my shoulder as she
covers her mouth. I look up at her and see tears forming in her eyes.

"What's the deal mom?" I ask growing concerned.

"Think about it Gabriel." She says to me. "Alistair was right." I
started to think about it.

"I found it. I hacked into one of his mobile devices. Raiden has three
children. He has a daughter that lives in Europe and is married to a next
in line alpha, and a set of fraternal twin boys." Sophia says clicking
something on the screen causing a picture to pop up. She sets down her
laptop. She looks up to her father. "This is bad. I know how we were
hacked." She says walking over to the desk and grabbing the remote and
hitting the lights. The projector starts to turns on.

"The vision of your mate is never wrong." My mother says.

"So what you're telling me is..." I felt my stomach drop.

"This is a recent picture of Raiden and his family. They say that his wife
died during child birth. Ring any bells?" Sophia says pressing a button.
"Meet the McCoy Family." On the screen in front of them, is a picture of
Titus and Darian standing on either side of a matured man. The air around
William began to spark.

"The microchip I injected is offline." Damien said looking at his tablet.

"I need to get back to my body." I said standing with my mother. Alistair
came over and took my hand.

"Good luck." He says as I disappear.
