Chapter 7

The Strong Prey on the Weak Part 1

Running across a field in Montague, CA, a black wolf carries an
unconscious golden wolf on its back. The black wolf is focused and looking
for a place to rest and gather its strength. As it slows down, the golden
wolf is lifted off its back as a bright white glow shoots out of its eyes.
The light lasts maybe ten seconds before it ends and the golden wolf falls
to its paws finally awake. The black wolf instantly jumps into an
offensive stance ready to attack. The golden wolf shakes its head clean
before making eye contact with the growling black wolf. The golden wolf
takes a defensive stance trying not to growl or show any fangs in the form
of a challenge. The aggressor speaks firmly.

`What are you doing? I will give you one chance to be honest before I kill
you.' The black wolf say's in Alex's voice.

`Alex trust me. I'm not your enemy in this situation.' The golden wolf
answers in Titus's voice. Alex lets out another growl.

`What's going on? How do you sound like Titus?' Alex asks taking a step
forward.

`Because I am Titus. Darien is my twin brother. He took Gabriel and is
going to take him to Central. If my brother finishes his plan then we are
all in a lot of danger.' Titus says standing his ground. He doesn't fear
Alex because he knows that he is far stronger than the black wolf.

`How is this even possible? You're human.' Alex says standing up straight
and dropping his offensive stance, but still keeping up an aggressively
defensive one.

`Darien and I carry a wolf spirit in us. One of the abilities it grants us
is the control over all five of the instincts. Thus, I was able to appear
as Darien as well as human. It was a task that we mastered over the years.
I am trying to stop him and our father. You already know him as the enemy.
Alpha Raiden.' Titus explains as Alex takes a couple steps back processing
all that was just said.

`Wait, wait, and wait! If you are twins with Darien why don't you guys look
alike and how are you planning to stop him? Once he is in Central, its game
over. Have you thought...' Alex questions start building up and pouring
out. Titus cuts him off though.

`Look, I don't have time for the Q&A. It's either, you're gonna help me or
you're gonna get out of my way. I have to get to Central first. I am
already ahead of Darien. The longer we stall the faster he will catch up.
Let alone, I'm sure daddy dearest will have a welcoming party waiting
outside of the building to prevent anyone but Darien and Gabriel from
entering or exiting. Not to mention if he leaves his car and shifts he
will definitely catch up before we make it. So...' Titus pauses walking to
pass Alex, pausing his steps when their heads are aligned next to each
other. `...are you going to help me get Gabe back and stop my dad and
brother, or are you gonna back off and go home?' They engaged in a heavy
staring contest that thickens the atmosphere around them. Finally, Alex
nods his head.

`If you are lying though, I will kill you instantly with no hesitation.'
Alex says turning and taking off full speed. Titus shakes his head in a
chuckle.

`Cocky little punk.' He says under his breath as he takes off to catch up
with Alex.

I hear the car door open and close. I hear Darien sigh then slow
footsteps walking over to me. They stop just behind me. After a few
seconds I glance over my shoulder and see him reaching out to me. I drop my
arms to my sides which were folded across my chest. I reached out and
grabbed his hand. My eyes focused on our hands and slowly traveled up his
arms. They are so defined and strong, perfect for taking control. I know
he would be totally dominate in bed and a part of me wants to just push him
down on the hood of the car. I glance up finally meeting his eyes. I've
been staring at his body for way too long. Oh no, FUCK I'm getting hard.
Again a veil of red passes over my eyes. I drop his hand turning away and
looking up at the moon, which is almost full.

"We should ditch the car." He says walking over to the passenger side door
opening it.

"I agree." I reply not looking back at him. "I'm sure they have road blocks
set up on every entrance to Redding. Plus, they know what our car looks
like so it would be stupid continuing in it." I turn around and watch as
he starts taking off his clothes. I feel the heat in my face instantly as
his bare chest is revealed. A perfectly chiseled pair of pecs, a six-pack
guys would kill for with a light dusting of trimmed blond hair forming his
treasure trail that disappeared into his undergarments. "What are yo..."

"If I shift and carry you we can move far quicker than we have been. Trust
me. Titus is already close to Central. He passed us a couple of hours
ago." He said stepping behind the door and leaning over to drop trou. His
head disappeared and I could hear the sound of bones cracking. I slowly
walked closer. I heard a quick groan then a thud and a big blond wolf
rolled out. I just looked at him. It was the wolf from my dream. Pure
gold and filled with a light that almost made the night sky around us look
like day.

`Let's ride.' He says walking over to the passenger seat and pulling me out
by my shirt. In a swift motion, I watched as he tossed my body like a rag
doll onto his back. I just stood there mouth agape. Well that was
rude. `Be offended later get on and let's move. We're wasting time. We
will be there in about 45 minutes.'

"Yeah, yeah, yeah!" I said rolling my eyes as I walked over and got on his
back behind my body.

`Lean forward and keep your body stable so neither of you fall off.'

"Can you carry both of us? I mean, I'm by no means fat but, I am not a
feather either." I said leaning forward and grabbing some of his fur. He
just responded by taking off running.

William Skyland was in his office looking at the stars that had
begun burning bright, when the phone rang. He turned around as his son
Michael picked it up.

"Hello." Michael said then paused. "You did... Where..."He pulled up a map
and made a circle. "Alright thanks." He said hanging up the phone. There
was a moment's pause while he thought. He again picked up the phone and
started to dial. "Koga... Hey bro its Michael... Yeah I know sorry about
that but hey, I am texting you guys some coordinates..." He said pulling
out his cell and typing some stuff then pressing send. "Let me know if you
find anything... Okay... I'll let him know... You too bro." Michael hung
up again. He turned to his father and walked over. "They found them an
hour or so outside of Redding at one of the check points that they have set
up. But, they pulled out and took an exit. They are going to see if they
can find them on the back roads." Michael got a ping on his phone
signaling a text. "Well they found the car but there was no one in it and
apparently there were clothes outside the car meaning that he shifted."
Michael said thinking again. "I don't get it why are they going to
Central. He must know that they would stop anything he's trying to do
right?" Michael asked looking at William.

"If they were aware of the situation then yes. However, they are unaware
of the situation. But now that I think about it, he is a spirit carrier.
Plus he has the ability to conceal his presence to appear human to a wide
range of people. Something seems off about this plan." William thought
about all the circumstances and all the factors that played into each thing
that happened so, far. What he told Michael about the witches rang out in
his head. `I have the feeling their return can't possibly be a good thing
for Central. After all that Central has done to countless witches over the
years. They have more right to take them out than any other.' That was it.
William thought about it all as he walked over and sat at his desk. He
pulled out a journal from the bottom drawer of his desk and flipped it open
halfway and searched for something. A few flips later he rested on a page
as he read through the information. He then, went back a halfway to the
beginning. After he read a few pages he went to the wall that was stacked
with books and other journals. His right index finger skimmed over a
number of books before he closed his eyes sighing trying to remember the
dates. Suddenly a book slid out a bit. Alistair and Danica were standing
on the other side of the room. Danica was smirking at Alistair.

"Cheater!" Danica said as they disappeared.

William grabbed the book and walked back to his desk. There was
something he had to know. He flipped to one of the dates.
`September 3, 1898, I have finally come to the conclusion why they
were kept around. Central has begun something that is going to change the
way we all live. They have been keeping three witches up until now. But,
they decided to change that. If a witch was to mate with a `were' of any
kind, there power would intensify to an unbelievable amount. It appears as
though my son, will be the first subject to do so. They said, this is so
we can keep the spirits in check as well as protect Central. Something in
the way they have chosen to handle such situations is beginning to arise
suspension of their motives. I do not object only because my son is in
love with said witch.'
William continues skipping a bunch of pages.
	`January 23, 1901,
They finally used their power. It was totally unconceivable. Such
power and they still almost wiped out the entire force of Central. The
wolf spirit carrier is a definite force to be reckoned with. She was able
to take on all that power but using that spirit is even more dangerous than
using the cat spirit. No wonder they want to lock it away. For a witch to
put this spirit into another carrier it, it would kill the witch. I am
still trying to figure out why they want to split the spirit amongst the
twins.'

There it was. William closed the book finally. He picked up the phone and
dialed waiting on the line.

"Hello Will, what do you need now my brother?" Asked Alpha Xerxes.

"Hey X, you remember that story your old man used to tell us before we went
to sleep?" Will asked.

"You mean the one about the witch and the were-lion?" Xerxes asked for
reassurance.

"Yeah, he said that their children were the first were-witch's right and
all but two with families were killed off by Central right?"

"No, there were four families up until the last two wolf spirit carriers
died. Now there are only two. The witch they have now is a were-witch."
Xerxes said. William finally got the point of all of this.

"Thanks X I gotta got." Will said hanging up. He looked over at Michael.
"Go get your brother and sisters." Michael nodded his head and left.
"This is going to be a fight we have to win or life as we know it will be
in danger." William said sitting back in his chair thinking.

Alex and Titus were getting close to Central. They had barely
spoken to each other this whole time. Alex was still processing what he
was told. He thought back to when the white light erupted from Titus.

`Hey, what was that white light that came out of your eyes?' Alex asked.
Titus seemed confused.

`What are you talking about?' Titus asked glancing over at him.

`When you were unconscious you lifted off me and white light came shooting
out of your eyes. You landed fully aware.' Alex said as he watched Titus
realize something.

`No.' Titus said coming to a stop. `That light appears once a spirit meets
a mate. That means that Darien and Gabriel are getting closer. That is a
big problem. I just hope Gabriel's will is stronger than Darien's.'

`But, why did your eye glow too?' Alex was confused.

`Darien and I are like the same being in Gabriel's eyes. We are both
carrying the same spirit within us so, we are both his mate in a sense.'
Titus said.

`Oh.' Alex said feeling a sudden rage. His ears peaked to the sound of a
loud howl. It was very close to them. He looked at Titus.

`The welcoming party is in position.' He said looking around. `We need to
take them out within the next 20 minutes. Darien shifted and is getting
very close. If there is even on person left conscious from the group my
father sent, then they will slip past us and get to Central.' Titus said
closing his eyes and preparing for the attack. The sound of yipping,
growls, and barks began getting closer. Alex jumped into a fighting stance
with his head low and fangs bared.

Darien had been running fiercely. We had been going for about
twenty minutes. I was keeping my body in position. My head was pretty
close to his and I could feel his breathing raging on but he seemed fine.
I looked up at the sky and watched the stars. There was a massive roar in
the distance that ricochet off the hills making it hard to determine the
whereabouts besides the fact that it was in front of us. Then, it came
again. I knew that voice. It was Koga. I knew he was a lion. He was one
of the only ones left on the west coast besides his father Alpha Xerxes.

"We have a problem. If Koga is blocking us we won't get to Central." I
told Darien.

`Don't worry we have help behind him.' Darien said. He then picked up
speed. `We have a little less than ten minutes before we get there. Hold
on tight. I'm about to blast through this place.'

A lion's roar came from behind Alex and Titus. Titus opened his
eyes and turned to the direction of the sound.

`No, no, no.' He said trying to think of what to do. `They are too early.'
Titus said getting nervous and agitated.

`Who is it?' Alex asked.

`It's Koga and the Skyland teams. I knew they were getting close but I
didn't think it would be this soon. Plus Darien is moving faster. I can
feel him. He's almost here. With this many people around us, it will be
almost impossible to see them.' Titus explained. Just then another roar
came. They were so caught up in the roar they didn't notice the wolves
went quiet. Alex turned back to the other direction and looked over at the
darkness. Glowing eyes began to appear with the shadows of the wolf
figures that started to move like an extension of the darkness.

`We have company.' Alex said.

`Yes.' Titus said as he watched as two yellow eyes opened and a black lion
walked out of the shadows. It was followed by multiple shadows of huge cat
figures. `This was what I wanted to avoid. We are stuck right in the
middle.' Alex turned seeing the huge lion for the first time.

`Holy Shit.' He said looking at each side and evaluating each force. `This
will definitely put up a challenge.' The lead wolf stepped out of the
shadows and growled loudly before lifting its head to the sky and releasing
a loud howl. The other wolves joined in. The lion jumped forward and
roared louder than before and its eyes stretched wide in fury, challenging
the wolves. The wolves started running forward. The lion jerked its head
back snorting, then licked its snout. He roars and jumped forward
running. His pack took off running as well. Alex and Titus stood side by
side in opposite directions. They looked at each other, nodding good luck,
and prepared for the impact from either side. The lead wolf targeted Alex
as the lion targeted Titus.

Just as they both jumped up, the air seemed to slow and spark with
light and electricity. Everyone stopped instantly looking around. Darien
carrying me on his back jumped down landing next to Alex on the opposite
side of Titus. They split running in between the two forces. Darien kept
going and we began to see Central. Imagine a castle from the middle ages
placed on a hill. That's what I was looking at right now.

"Do you know how to get in?" I asked Darien. We were getting closer. The
draw bridge opened. No you heard right. A freaking draw bridge. "This is
not what I was expecting. I don't know, I was expecting something a lot
more theatrical I guess."

`Trust me; that's not it. Most of it is hidden by witchcraft.' Darien said
as we ran across the draw bridge. As soon as we passed by the gate, the
scenery changed into a parking garage.

"I guess that should have been expected." I said looking around. My focus
landed on a woman standing with an IPad in her hand. She was steady with
her other hand tapping away on the screen. She was lovely. She looked to
be 25 years old. He skin was light like my own. She was definitely mixed
with African-American decent. She had these vibrant hazel brown eyes
accented with smoky eye makeup. Her hair was dark brown from the root to
about an inch and a half with the rest layered in a mix of dirty blond and
burgundy highlights. Her nose was thin and symmetrical placed perfectly in
the center of her face. Her lips were plump with an ombre from a red
outside to black on the inside. She was a thin girl but had a nice coke
bottle shape letting on that she kept herself in shape. She had on a pair
of red closed toe heels and skinny low cut black jeans that came just above
the heels. Her top was a white button up blouse with ruffles along the
buttons and a black woman's fitted a low cut suite jacket. Her diamond
earrings had red feathers hanging off of small black chains that barely
reached her shoulders. The outfit worked on her very well. Something about
her seemed familiar.

"Welcome to Central Headquarters Mr. Skyland." She says not looking at me
yet. "We have been expecting you for some time." She finally looks up
smiling at me. It falter's for about half a second with a look of
understanding and then disappears replaced with the smile again. "You are
quite earlier than we expected though." She looks down at Darien and her
smile fades instantly. "I was informed you would be escorted by a human
though. Who is this mongrel?" She says now staring at Darien. I could
literally see the venom dripping off her words. Darien snorts in amusement
sitting down so I can get down.

"He is..." I begin and not really sure what to call him. "I trust him."
Was all that came out. She looked at me and searched my eyes. "Wait a
minute how can you see me?" I asked and she just smiled.

"My name is Bethany. I am special." It's all she said before turning. A
man walked around the corner holding some clothes and shoes. He walks over
towards us dropping the clothes and shoes then steps over to pick up my
body. Baring his fangs and ready to attack Darien growls at the man. I
look over at him and shake my head. He rolls his eyes. The man picks up my
body and walks to stand by Bethany. Darien picks up the clothes in his
muzzle then walks off.

"Beth..." The man finally speaks. His voice is normal of all things.
It's not too high or too low. It's just average but, somehow
familiar. "Alpha Matt is waiting." She nods.

"Hurry up mutt. We have a schedule to keep." She says annoyed. Darien
walks over wearing a pair of basketball shorts and a muscle shirt.

"Women hold your horses." He says putting his feet into the shoes. "God for
this being headquarters you couldn't give me anything better to wear. What
is this shit?" He says pulling on his shirt and shorts. "Why does this
shit itch?" He takes a closer look at the logo on his shorts. It is an S
with a star attached to it. "You're kidding right? Is this real life, you
gave me fucking Walmart brand shit to wear?" He says being overly
dramatic. The rest of us just rolled our eyes following Bethany.

"You'll be just fine princess. Let's go." She says walking us into an
elevator. I look over seeing that Darien is standing behind the guy
holding my body. I look at his face and he is cute. He has the typically
All-American boy next door charm. I look over at Bethany. She is looking
at her IPad.

"Bethany..." I ask getting her attention. She looks at me. "Who is
that?" I ask. She types something on her IPad. Using her eyes she tells
me to look at it. I step over looking at the screen, which spelled Jared.
That was why I remembered him. He was going to be my brother-in-law. I
smiled big and turned looking at him. He must be getting with Sophia.
"Sophia will definitely like him." I said looking him over. Darien
cleared his throat. He was staring at me obviously irate. Bethany
chuckled. Jared looks over at her giving her a questioning look. The
elevator sounds and the doors open. She steps off and we follow her down a
hall. The hall was about ten feet across with marble floors. The walls
were white with black columns along them every ten feet on both sides. We
walked to the end of the hall and walked into an office. The floors were
hard wood. The walls were book shelves. The far wall was a window with
the blinds closed. There was a couch placed off to the side and a couple
of chairs in front of a desk. A man with salt and pepper hair was typing
away at his computer and had yet to look up at us.

"Alpha Matt!" Bethany said getting his attention. "Gabriel Skyland is
here."

"Place him on the couch." The man said in a commanding tone. He typed a
few more things then stood. Jared placed me on the couch and stood back
behind Bethany. Darien walked over and stood behind the couch. Alpha Matt
stood over placing his thumb on my temple and index finger on the center of
my forehead. "Intra corpus redire naturalibus." He said with his eyes
closed. I felt my spiritual body getting pulled from my chest. I left the
floor and hover falling into my body. As soon as I fell on the couch my
body jumped up with me taking a breath. I stood stretching my tired
muscles. It felt good to be in my physical body. "Welcome back. Bethany,
take these two gentlemen to your quarters. Jared stay. I must speak with
you." Alpha Matt says walking back to his desk.

"Yes Alpha." Bethany says leading Darien and I out of the office. We walk
halfway down the hall then take a left into a side hall. We pass three
doors then enter one on the right side. We walk into a studio apartment.
"Welcome to my humble abode." She says motioning for us to take a seat on
a black leather couch. I take a seat on the far side and Darien sits right
next to me and put's his arm around me. I just look at him with a `what
the fuck' look and he just smiles winking at me.

"What the hell are you doing?" I ask looking at him still.

"You like it so shut up." He says looking over at Bethany. She is sitting
at her desk staring at us.

"So are you two..." She begins.

"NO!" I say cutting her off instantly. She smiles. "Anyways, where is
this witch? I need to call my family immediately."

"I have some business with her as well." Darien says squinting his eyes at
her like he was trying to figure something out.

"What business do you have with the witch mutt?" Bethany asks.

"She has something I need." He says shortly. She looks him over then gets
a look of confirmation.

"So, you want the spirit huh?" She says confidently with a smile.

"How do you..." He starts and then figures something out as well. He
stands pulling me up with him and puts me behind him.

"I see you haven't told him about it have you?" She says specifically to
Darien. I walk around him moving his arm away from me.

"What is she talking about?" I ask standing in front of him. He avoids my
eye contact. "Darien. Look at me and tell me whatever it is you're hiding."
I say more commanding this time. He looks over at her angry. Annoyed I
turnaround and approach her. He reaches out grabbing my arm but, I pull
away from him intent on finding out what I'm missing. "What is it?" I ask
her more pleading than commanding this time. Her face softens as she places
her hands on my shoulders pulling me into a quick hug.

"He is planning on using the witch to put the dire wolf spirit into his
body." She says and I nod in understanding. This much I already knew
about. "But, he didn't tell you that in doing so it will kill the witch and
a lot of people in this building as well." I look back glaring at him. He
still doesn't make eye contact with me. "But, what he really was trying to
hide was that fact that you are related to said witch." My eyes bulged and
I looked back at her. She was smiling. "Second cousin on your father's
side, Bethany Marie Skyland." No wonder she looked so familiar. I whip my
head around so quick my hair flies around my face.

"You were going to have me help you kill people?" I ask him walking
closer. Each step I grew more and more livid. "My fucking cousin." I say
pushing him hard enough to fall on the couch. He still won't look at
me. "You're unbelievable. I can't believe I trusted you. You're just as
bad as your father." I say watching him finally look at me. I see a spark
of fire in him as he shoots up looking down at me. Being inside Central we
can't use our powers but, I still have my hand to hand combat if he so
chooses to attack.

"Look everything I said was true even if I didn't tell you everything. You
act like I have a choice in the matter. This is going to happen with or
without me." He says raising his voice stepping closer to me. With each
step he takes forward, I take one back. Just in case he attacks. He
finally stops walking but, still looks angry. "Look, when I told you about
the plan I didn't know she was your cousin until, I saw her. As far as
your roll in this, you wouldn't have been a part of anyone's death." I
shake my head.

"That is totally beside the point. You should have told me. I would have
like to know all of this before you went through with it. And now I am
standing here feeling like Boo the Fool." I said feeling stupid now. "I'm
done helping you. I should have listened to my instincts instead of my
attraction to you. I am done." I said looking away. He reached out to
touch my arm but I stepped back.

"Look Gabe." He started but I turned around ignoring him. I heard him
exhale in aggression. As soon as I felt him lay his hand on my shoulder, a
mistake he shouldn't have made, I grabbed his wrist and pulled him into me
as I bend down elbowing him in the stomach knocking his breath away. I
then, slide under his arm pulling his wrist with me. I kick his knee in,
causing him to fall, and place my other hand tightly on the back of his
neck. I lean in close to his ear.

"Let me make myself very clear." I say pulling his arm back causing him to
take in a sharp breath. "Don't ever, EVER, put your hands on me in anger
again. I still need you for your father so I will be cordial. But, don't
for one second think that I won't take you out." I let him go. When he
stood up he looked me in the eye a bit surprised. When he saw the change
in my eyes I saw a flash of fear and he submitted a bit. Now, don't
misunderstand me. I am generally a very kindhearted person but, cross me
and trust, wolves don't compare to me and my vengeance. These guys keep
getting the impression that I am some damsel in destress. Well, that's
over with. This is my family and the lives of many others. I don't have
time for the bullshit any more. "Now." I walk passed him to Bethany. She
had an amused look. "Please direct me to the phone I may use to get in
contact with my family." It sounded like a question but, it was obviously
an order. She walked over to her desk and pulled out the bottom drawer.
She reached in and pulled out a cell phone.

"This is an emergency line. It's totally blocked from any tracing and
won't be picked up by any of the servers here in Central." She says
handing it over to me. "Cloaking spell." She winks. I take it smiling as
well.

"Darien." I say turning to him but, he is gone and the door is open.
"Fuck." I turn back to Bethany. "Take me to the Dire Wolf Spirit." She
nods her head and closes her eyes.

A purple flame flows out of her skin and reaches out to engulf me. I
cringe expecting it to be hot. The sensation makes me feel energized. It
burns brighter causing everything to turn purple. When it fades we are in
a warehouse. She starts walking over to a metal door. She types in a code
and the door opens. Inside, I see cages of animals. It was like being in
an indoor zoo for predators. I followed her as we bypassed all the cages
and hit a path that forks into two passages. We went right and came to a
room that was more of an observatory. As we got closer to the edge I saw a
mound of black fur that was speckled with silver making it look like a
night's sky.  Its ears perked up and went back looking at us.  He was huge;
far bigger than any wolf I had seen so far. He was just watching us. I
began walking around the observation deck. I finally figured out that he
wasn't looking at us, but me specifically. His eyes were a sharp grey.
Like looking into starry skies on a clear night. It was almost nerve
wrecking the way they responded to each of my movements. He stood and
walked over to me still out of my reach. I could feel his power. He was
an alpha. No, he was THE alpha. The alpha for all wolves. There was no
wolf more superior to him. I had to look away from him. His intensity was
causing my leopard to scream. She was responding to him as a leader. She
recognized him as her superior and she submitted. When I looked back at
him, I saw that his head was tilted to the side. As we made eye contact he
nodded his head and let out a snort. He was laughing at me. Something
about him annoyed me to no end. I swear I am only attracted to d-bags.

"This is the Dire Wolf Spirit." Bethany said. He glanced over at her. She
bows her head to him. "Alpha Adam." He nods his head at her in
acknowledgment.

"Is there an Eve." I asked looking over at Bethany.

"Yes." She said simply. "She is in the other path."

"What kind of spirit is she?" I was totally captivated now.

"I'll show you but first, make your call. This room is hidden and Alpha
Adam's power blocks out everything.

"Right." I dial my father's office number. The phone rings and I walk
over to lean on the railing. I watch Alpha Adam come closer and sniff the
air under me. He snorts in annoyance and starts pissing on the wall in
front of me. The scent hits me hard and I stand up straight stepping back.
Bethany busts out laughing. "Did he really just..."

"Skyland Residence." I here Damien's voice. I felt so happy just hearing
his voice. "This is Damien how..."

"It's Gabe, Damien. Put me on speaker phone. You all need to hear this."
I said interrupting him. I hear a beep. I look at the phone and the
battery is almost dead.

"Gabriel, are you okay? What's going on?" I hear my father say. He
sounded really worried.

"Dad I'm fine. But, everyone needs to listen. I talked to Raiden and we
have come to an agreement. If we pledge our loyalty to taking down and
reforming Central no one has to die. But if we don't, he is going to kill
all of you except Samantha unless she has finished her mating." I said to
them and they all were silent in thought. "I have agreed to help them." I
said looking at Bethany. She had this look that I couldn't read.

"Gabriel, you need to know something. The witches are working with them.
The head Alpha's have been abusing their power for their own personal game
and are about to be punished. They are planning to unleash the Dire Wolf
Spirit to do so. His power is unmatched." My father said. I stared hard at
Bethany.

"But that would kill a witch. Why would they unleash it knowing that it
would kill them?" I asked directing it more to Bethany. She just smiled.

"That's the thing. It won't." My father says. "A witch with the blood of
a `were' has an almost limitless power capacity. If they are well versed
in the craft, they are stronger than even you." The phone beeped again. I
looked at the screen that read ten percent battery.

"Father I need to let Raiden know your decision before the phone dies. I
only have ten percent left." I told him. I heard them talking for a
second then, my father sighed.

"We decline. Raiden is going to slaughter the witches plus the heads and
we have family in there. We won't be a part of that on any level. You
need to make sure that you are on the right side. With a clear head." My
father told me. The way he said it I knew there was no way I would be
changing his mind. He is very set in his ways. Once he makes a decision,
it is law.

"Daddy what are you guys going to do?" I asked falling to my knees.

"Don't worry about us. As long, as you are okay we will be fine. Protect
yourself first. As long as you are still behind the barrier you are safe.
We will hold our own. Te amo sanguine meo sanguine." I felt his warmth
wrap around me like a blanket.

"Te amo sanguine meo sanguine." I heard my siblings say simultaneously.
The warmth around me grew and I felt scared but completely safe at the same
time. Alpha Adam started growling and barking. I looked over and saw him
walking in circles staring at me. He looked frustrated. I heard the phone
beep and the call ended.

"You knew that you wouldn't die didn't you?" I asked Bethany. She simply
nodded. I was holding my composure because I was no match for her. At the
moment.

"I only said that so you realized that you can't trust the mutt and his
pack. They are not working the way we originally planned. They are
totally going on revenge. We are fueled on justice. The heads need to be
stripped of their power. But, now that Raiden has signed a contract with a
demon we can no longer trust him." She replied.

"Oh no. He is going to kill my family." I said beginning to panic again.
The situation was getting out of hand. Defeat was beginning to set in and
I was getting weaker.

"Don't worry. He won't kill them. Your family has always been loyal and
helpful to witches. I have already pledged loyalties to the cat spirit and
her lineage." Her word gave me a bit of comfort. I felt my mind race and
everything exploded like a sun size light bulb.

"What is your plan?"

"What was already told to you. Alpha Adam is going to be released and
claim his right as head wolf. Then, Eve will be released to take her new
form." I was a bit confused. I hadn't heard anything about Eve being
released.

"Wait who is Eve going to take?" I asked. She just tilted he head and
smirked.

"Come now. Did you really have to guess? You're the perfect candidate for
this. Your leopard would just grow more powerful. She is far too strong
to change her appearance. I think." She said thinking about it. I was
thinking as well and felt her staring. "How about we go see her." She
said turning to leave.

I started to follow her out and then stopped when Alpha Adam
yipped. I looked back nodding at him. He nodded his head back and laid
his head down closing his eyes. I turned jogging to catch up with Bethany.
She looked over her should at me. It was kind of funny to her I guess.
She opened her mouth to say something but turned around instead. We walked
out of the hall and into the left side of the fork.

"I just want you to know that Eve can be a bit temperamental. She is the
original queen bee. We had to separate her because when she goes in heat,
the males, especially Alpha Adam, get very rowdy for a lack of better
words." She says smirking.

We walked into another observation desk that had the same zoo type
set up as Alpha Adam. Eve was just as powerful if not more fierce. She
was a saber tooth. Her fur was white with black stripes around her face
and the rest of her body was filled with larger than normal leopard spots.
As we got closer to the railing she started to wake up. Her eyes started
to flutter open. I stopped in my tracks as they focused directly on me
when they fully opened. They were blue but so bright they almost looked
white. I leaned on the railing as we got close to it, leaning over it to
get a closer look. Eve stretched and stood stalking over to me like the
vicious predator she is. She walked right up to me and stood against the
wall. I looked down at her wonder in amazement. Our eyes met and all time
stopped. I felt peaceful and calm. Then, she stood back looking up at me.
Soon, I heard a voice that sounded like a choir of angels singing.

`Hello Nefertiti. It has been quite a long time since I have seen you
daughter.' The voice said. I focused on the voice and something in me
changed. I knew it. Her face popped into my mind. A beautiful woman that
looked just like a female version of myself.

"Mother it has been quite some time. Why are you still letting these
vermin keep you caged like an animal? This is beneath you." I heard my
voice say. That was unexpected to tell you the truth. It's like a meeting
with my long lost parent. At least, that's what I was getting from the
feeling I had.

`My dear I have been waiting for you lovely. I have always been waiting
for you. I allow these people to remain in control until you returned to
me my dear. You were always going to be the one to continue on our
lineage. You will be queen my dear. I see that soon this world is going
to change. Nothing will be as it was, but things will definitely be as
they should. As long as everything goes according to plan.' Eve said
walking closer. She had a focused stare but, it wasn't on me. I turned to
see Darien.

"Well if it isn't Eve. How have you been my dear?" He asked talking as
himself but different. It wasn't him, but the wolf spirit speaking. Eve
smirked.

`I assure you I am well Caesar.' She looked him up and down. `Far better
than you appear to be. How does it work having your spirit split?' Eve
asked in a patronizing tone. Darien looked annoyed.

"For a bitch held in a cage so long, I wouldn't cast stones." His tone was
filled with distain.

`Child I could be held in here a million more years and I would still be
your superior.' She said chuckling. I liked her.

"As soon as I have my father's power you will be of little importance to
me. Nefertiti I apologize for such hostility." He said bowing down
slightly at the waist. I blushed a bit, but was thankful when he just
stood turning around appearing to disappear. I looked over and Eve was
also gone. I looked over at Bethany.

"Are you seriously going to be putting Alpha Adam in Darien?" I asked
grasping at straws as I tried to figure out what was going on exactly. I
glanced over my shoulder to see him still standing behind me. "You did say
you were going to release him." I kept eye contact with him. He was
searching for something in my eyes. I remained expressionless.

"I am going to release Adam, however I never said what vessel he would be
occupying." She said walking by me to leave. "Actually..." She paused
looking up as if she was looking at something. She looked back smiling at
me. "... He is about to arrive." She finished. Purple flames engulfed us
and then disappeared again. Once they faded we were back in Bethany's
studio. "Stay here." She said looking at Darien. "I have to go get the
others before the heads realize they are here." She said disappearing in
the purple flames. I walked over and sat on the couch with my head falling
back over the pillow behind me. I heard movement and saw Darien standing
in front of me.

"What is your deal?" He asks looking down at me. He sniffs and his eyes
grow angry. "Really? You let him mark you?" He had a look of total
hatred. Something about that look pissed me off.

"A, my deal is that you used me." I said standing up as well. "And B, as
far as that being marked bullshit. I was not marked by my own intention.
He walked over and did it." I reached in my pocket and pulled out the
phone. "Call your father." I said pushing it into his chest. Once he
took it I walked over to the window wall. Looking up in the sky I watched
the stars twinkle bright.

"I am guessing this is you my son." I heard Raiden say behind me. Darien
put him on speaker phone.

"Yes Alpha it is I." He said looking at me.

"Have we heard any word from my daughter-in-law's family?" Raiden askes.

"Do not call me that. The answer is no. They refuse to aid in the murder
of anyone." I said sighing.

"Well, hello my dear." He has a joking tone that I found quite vexing.
"Not to take light of the situation but, I wasn't expecting any other type
of outcome. Which is why I was intending on attacking tonight, when the
full moon rises." He says as if it were a joke. The phone beeps. Darien
lifts his hand showing five fingers.

"Look, you and the witches want the same thing. We can still work this out
and no one has to die." I said in a pleading tone. He started laughing.
"DON'T PATRONIZE ME!" I yelled instantly stopping his laughter.

"Let me make myself very clear." His voice sounded different. It was the
voice I heard in my room.

"You." I said before he spoke again.

"My name is Ra. But, as I was saying, the attack will happen weather you
want it to or not. We still need the telepathy. So, I suggest you think of
your next move." The phone went completely silent. Darien pressed a
button but the screen remained black. The battery died.

"And you still think your father didn't sign a contract?" I asked
rhetorically looking back out the window.

"I keep telling you it's not what you think but, you are so intent on
seeing the worst in him." He says walking over. His tone is serious. I
spun around to meet him as he came close.

"No. You are just stupidly holding your loyalty to a demon that is taking
advantage of your father. He may have given him power but, he has an
ulterior motive. You need to stop being stuck on stupid and get with the
program." I said moving to walk past him. He moved blocking me.

"If I stop being loyal to my father then I will be desecrating my mother's
memory and ignoring her last wish." He said looking sad. He was afraid of
losing his mother. I shook my head closing my eyes inhaling a breath.
Looking up at him, I could feel how scared he was. I placed my hand on his
cheek.

"Your mother is not gone. She's still inside of you. You are a carrier of
a spirit, so you are able to go into the Realm of the Afterlife. It would
take you and your brother but, you would be able to see her again. I'm a
little surprised you haven't been there yet. Stop looking at it as if you
can never see her again. If you turn into this man that you are becoming
you won't be able to enter that realm. There you have to be at peace with
yourself to enter. Look at everything that your father is doing. Is any
of that peaceful to you in anyway?" I asked. His head dropped. "I mean
do you really think that your mother would want her son to be helping kill
people? I mean you said she was amazing and she was a spirit carrier. I
highly doubt she would be proud of this. It's not too late though. You
can help stop this." I said honestly trusting my words.

"How can you have so much faith about all this when you know so little
about our world?" He asked catching me off guard a bit. I thought for a
second and then looked directly into his eyes finding my answer.

"I know that I have a lot of people that rely on me. I have to do what's
right. Nefertiti was a queen and I have to carry on her lineage. That
mean's being strong enough to do what I have to do and not what I want to
do. I hope that you are able to do the same. Otherwise, the outcome will
not be very pleasant for you. As well as you will never be able to see you
mother again." I tell him hoping he understands. He lifted his hand trying
to caress my face. I step back against the window. "Bro are you serious?" I
ask taken by surprise. "Is there anything that has happened in the last
hour that would make you think I want you touching me? Don't let what I
said make you think I do. I am still highly upset." I said walking past him
to go sit on the couch. Plopping down I sigh. I hear him chuckle as he
comes over and sits next to me.

"Do you think your family will be okay?" He asks driving my little bit of
calm and inner peace back into the depths of despair. I look at him.

"Has anyone ever told you how bad you suck at reading people and
atmospheres?" I asked really wanting to know.

"It's been mentioned to me once or twice." He says dispassionately. I sigh
shaking my head.

"Your apathy is tiring. I have my concerns but, as soon as I figure out how
to leave here I am going to fight with my family." I say ending the
conversation at that. We sit quietly for a little while. I begin falling
asleep. I lean over resting my head on his shoulder. He instantly wraps his
arm around my shoulder. At that precise moment Bethany walks into the room.
I stand when I see the look of panic on her face. "What's wrong?"

"We have to free Eve now. Adam isn't ready yet. With eve free she will be
able to keep the alphas as well as the guardians at bay." She said walking
over towards us.

Flames begin to engulf me and Darien grabs me holding me close, as if
to protect me from getting burned. It was sweet, so I allow it. I appear at
the front of the door to the cages. It is already open and I can see a man
standing in the pathway. He has looks like some type of Special Forces
member in the combat gear he has on. He has a serious faces as he steps
closer to us.

"Bethany. You are ordered to stand down." He says taking up an
authoritative stance.

"Dallas, step aside." Bethany says just as commanding. He lifts his hands
in a defensive position. "Sleep." Bethany waves a hand and Dallas falls to
the floor.

"What's going on?" I ask.

"The heads know what is going on. We must be quick. Soon, the heads
themselves will be here. I can hold my own against a couple of alphas but,
not as many as will be here momentarily. Enough chit chat." She says taking
off towards Eve.

As we enter, I see Eve sitting patiently. She appears to know what's
happening. She cocks her head to the side and I see Titus standing along a
far walk.

"Titus." I saw taking a step towards him, only I am stopped as Darien steps
between us and growls at his twin. This growl wasn't anything other than an
animalistic warning to stay back. "Darien don't be stupid." I say trying to
walk around him. Again, he blocks my advance. I take note that Titus looks
emotionless as he stares into my eyes. He shakes his head and focuses his
gaze on eve. Talk about the cold shoulder. I was utterly confused at this
point.

"Gabriel, stand in the center of the window facing Eve." Bethany tells
me. I do as she instructs and wait. "You to need to leave us. Go take to
other path and make sure the heads don't take Alpha Adam." I hear their
footsteps as the leave closing the door behind them. "Okay, I am going to
start the process. It should only take a couple of minutes."

"Have you done this before?" I ask glancing at her over my shoulder.

"Not of this magnitude." She says closing her eyes. I see her flames come
out of her body and radiate around her. "From the beginning of time the all
space created. Elements of the earth and sky blend and show us your
strength." I began to feel prickly. "In the aura of the blood lighting of
the moon. Let you power touch the chosen and begin the fuse." I see the
flames stretch around Eve. "Lift the veil and remove the blind. Linger in
the ethos before crashing into your new form." I soon only see the flames
that take over my vision. "Fox igne tigris, remissionis et habitatorem
locutus fuerit homo devorabitur. Burb ibti nigt et relinquam in unum."

I felt my eyes burn as the fire sunk into my body. I fell to the floor
unconscious but, still knowing and feeling everything going on around me. I
soon felt another mind attaching itself to my own. I'm notice the flames
are starting to engulf me whole. I look over right as they completely take
over my vision. But in that second I see Alex standing next to Bethany. I
feel a snap and black out.
