Apocalypse
chapt 30


Weeks have went by now and we have all been getting along great. The ROOM
has been getting a lot of use by everyone in the house. Carry's belly has
gotten to a huge state and she looks ready to pop. I checked our supplies
yesterday and we are getting low on a few things and there are some things
we need to get that we never thought about before, like diapers, and baby
clothes, and things like that. Adrien, Gaige, AJ, and I are going to take
the space ship to the mainland and find a store to raid for supplies. I
decided to take Gaige since he didn't really have any clothes or anything
of his own here, not that he would wear clothes any ways. The little guy
has gotten quite use to being naked. He and Donny have struck up a
friendship, in the bedroom that is. I think Donny likes being the bigger
boy in the fun they have. We are low on a few essentials like toilet paper
and junk food. The guys and I put some clothes on and got ready to
go. Gaige borrowed some of Zack's clothes to wear while we were gone. We
got in the ship and Gaige's eyes widened at the marvel of it. "Wow is this
thing for real?" he asked looking around. "Sure is little dude." I told
him. Adrien got in his usual position running the ship and then it powered
up. The viewing wall showed us the outside and Gaige marveled at it. "Wow
that's lik e a huge TV." He said. Adrien made some chairs come form out of
the floor for the guys to sit in and I got in the other position next to
him to help operate the ship. "What do you want me to do?" I asked him. "I
believe I can do it all now. Let me try." He said. He closed his eyes and
the ship lifted off a lot easier than ever before and we were off to the US
again. "Hmm. That would explain why the ship was going as fast as it could
have potentially." Adrien observed. "What do you mean?" I inquired. "There
was a problem with the circuits of the engines. I have corrected it and we
now have full speed capabilities." He explained. "Ok so how long will it
take us to get back to land?" I asked him. "Not long at all. Everyone get
ready we are about to propel faster." Adrien warned us just before we were
planted in our seats by the sudden burst of acceleration. The ocean below
us seemed to flash by at an unbelievable speed. "Damn how fast are we
going?" AJ asked. "Roughly about 2 thousand miles per hour." Adrien said
calmly like it was nothing. "Holy shit! Is that the fastest this thing can
go?" Adam asked. "No. it is a space ship remember, it has the capability of
going fast enough for interstellar travel." Adrien said. AJ looked like he
didn't have a clue what Adrien said. "He means it can fly through space so
it has to be super fast." I explained. "Yes, if I had to approximate the
top speed it would be maybe 2 times the speed of light." Adrien said. "HOLY
SHIT!" AJ exclaimed. I couldn't believe we were going this fast right now,
let alone that we could go faster than the speed of light. "Look there's
the mainland." AJ said pointing ahead of us. It had taken us a few minutes
to get back to land where before it took us hours to get out to the island
we live on. "Ok lets slow down and start looking for a place t get
supplies." I suggested. Adrien slowed the ship way down so we could look
for what we were searching for.

About 20 minutes after we got over land a gai n we spotted a supper market
that was half demolished form the invasion. "Lets check in there." I said
pointing at it. We landed in the parking lot and before leaving the ship we
got the alien device we've ha d for a while and turned on the cloaking
field around us. "Why are we so close together?" Gaige asked. "Shh. Not so
loud. We're being cloaked so no one can see us with this thing." AJ said
pulling the gun he brought with him out of his waist band. I to had brought
one and had it ready as well, just incase. We entered the building and it
looked like it was ransacked. There were shelves overturned and the place
smelled terrible from rotten food. We had to pinch our noses to keep the
smell from making us gag. We checked the building out before collecting
what we needed. Once we felt like we were ok to shop we grabbed a few carts
and pushed them through the few lanes we could get down and loaded them
with what ever we could find that was still good. The bread was all moldy
and gross, the meat was all rotten and stunk badly, and all of the stuff in
the produce section was all rotten, except for some nuts. We gathered 3
carts of supplies and wheeled them out to the ship and secured them in the
cargo area. One cart was nothing but diapers and baby formula for the baby
coming, one cart was all toilet paper, and the third was what little bit of
food we could find. These meager few carts weren't going to be e nough so
we kept looking. We ended up finding a huge supermarket a few cities away
and it seemed to be the jackpot for us. The building structure its self was
relatively intact. The roof was damaged and the outside was mess ed up some
but it was still standing. We landed outside and made a cautious approach
inside like before. We checked the building out first then each got a cart
and went off in two teams to gather what we could find. We met back at the
entrance when we were done and saw what the others collected. Adrien got
lots of stuff for the baby, AJ got some food, I got odds and ends like
stuff for the house, and Gaige had a cart full of junk food. We loaded
those four carts and went back inside for more. This time we gathered up
all the soda pop there was, a lot of canned foods, more junk food, and we
even found an ice cream making machine and ice cream mixes to take with
us. With 8 carts of stuff on board form this place we went back inside to
see what else we could find. It was a store with a grocery part and a
retail part to so we checked all through it. Adrien found stuff for the
baby like clothes and a crib. AJ raided the electronics department and
grabbed all kinds of games and stuff that we didn't have before. Gaige and
I went to the boys dept. and got him so clothes of his own, not that he
would need them much. I headed to the toy department with Gaige after that
and filled my cart with what ever looked cool and what ever I thought the
guys at home might want. Again we met back at the entrance and went out to
the ship to stow our new stuff. "We're gonna have to remember this
place. It's got all kinds of shit we migh t need." AJ said. We loaded the
carts and noticed that the hold was getting full of stuff, and also
realized that we needed to get rid of the carts when we got the stuff
home. So before we left we dumped the carts out on the floor and just left
the carts behind. This way we wouldn't have to worry about carts congesting
our cargo room. Once we had the stuff in the ship and carts outside we went
back to the control room and got in our positions. "Hey Adrien I was
thinking, since the ship is way faster now and it's not that late in the
day lets look around and see if we find anything or anyone." I
suggested. The others thought that was a good idea so that's exactly what
we did. We flew around for a while and neither Adrien or I sense any signs
of human life. We then went north for a while and still nothing. After a
few hours of this we decided t head for home. "Where the hell are we
exactly?" AJ asked. "Just outside of Atlanta, Georgia." Adrien said. We had
traveled several hundred miles in only a few hours time in the ship.

When we got to the center of Atlanta all of the buildings were wrecked. It
seemed like this place was hit very hard in the invasion. This place was
totally devastated so we then turned southward towards home. In a matter of
minutes we were back in Florida and streaking home. "Hey let's go by Busch
Gardens, maybe there's some animals still alive there." Adam suggested. It
was only early afternoon so we did what he said. Minutes later we were
floating over the area and it looked to be deserted. The big animal pins
were empty, most of the buildings were collapsed, and there seemed to be no
life there. "Wait, I sense life. I think maybe some one is down there."
Adrien said. We found a place to land the ship and cloaked ourselves before
walking out. Adrien led us to an area and pointed. "There. I sense the life
in there." He was pointing at some kind of man made cave looking
structure. "Hello is any one there? " I asked. We took a risk and turned
the cloak off so if some one was there they could see us. "Hello?!" I
yelled again. A second later we were totally shocked. Some one did come out
of there then, only it wasn't human. "Holy shit cool!" AJ said. It was a
young chimpanzee that was hiding in the cave. I couldn't imagine how it has
evaded being killed by the monsters. I kneeled down on one knee and called
to the chimp. "Come here little guy we're not gonna hurt you." I said in a
calm voice. The chimp seemed to cower a bit then. "Let me try." Adrien
said. He looked at the ape and a minute later it walked over to him and
took his hand. "I used my thought ability to tell him it was ok and we were
friends." Adrien explained. It looked to be only a few years old to me, but
what would I know. Adrien turned then and the ape crawled up into his arms
so he was now holding it. "Aww look he's practicing." AJ said making a joke
about holding a baby. "You sense anything else?" I asked. "No he is all."
Adrien said. "Well not to be crude but let's get the fuck out of here." I
suggested. We went back to the ship as fast as possible and got back under
our cloaking cover. Adrien sat the monkey in one of the chairs and stra
pped him in. "Just sit comfortably. We will be home shortly and you can eat
what ever you like. " He told the ape. "He understands you?" Gaige
said. "Yes and I understand him. He says he is very hungry and he is glad
we found him." Adrien explained. "I bet Donny is gonna love talking with
him." AJ said referring to Donny's special ability to understand animals.

Minutes later we arrived back at the island and landed softly under our
island cloaking umbrella. Adrien turned the ship cloak off and we were now
visible to the others. "Hey look they're home!" Nathan cheered. The guys
all c ame runn ing ou t to greet us as Carry crept close behind. The hatch
opened and AJ and Gaige walked outside. AJ told everyone we had a surprise
and that we found another survivor. Everyone's mouth almost hit the ground
when Adrien and I walked out of the ship with Adrien carrying the
chimp. "Cool a monkey!" Zack cheered. The boys all ran to Adrien to see the
little ape. They were cheering and talking loudly which agitated the little
ape. "Guys stop screaming you're scaring him." Donny told them all. "Hey
quiet!" I said then making them all shut up. "He's right you're scaring the
little guy. He's just a baby look at him." I told them. "How old are you?"
Donny asked him. The monkey made some sounds and noises and the boys all
thought it was cute. "He said he's 3." Donny explained. "What's your name?"
he asked then, and again the chimp made sounds. "He said the people that
fed him called him Bongo." Donny explained. "Well come on Bongo I'll be
your buddy." Donny said taking the little apes hand. The others were all
petting and touching him to see what he was like. "Guys the cargo area has
a lot of stuff in it. Go ahead and start getting the stuff inside. Me and
Don Don are gonna go get Bongo something to eat he's really hungry." I told
them. Carry then walked to Adrien and gave him a big hug, wel l as big as
her belly would allow. "I missed you." She said as she kissed him. Max saw
that and just sighed a deep breath of frustration and went on unloading the
supplies. He really did like her, but I was sure it was more because she
was the only female around and she was Adrien's. As the guys unloaded the
ship Josiah made a discovery that made him happy. "Cool you guys found a
volley ball set. Now we can play it on the beach." He said
happily. Progress unloading the ship was fast since the boys each took as
much as they could carry in. It took them about 4 trips each but it went
quick. Once we had all the stuff in the house Carry and I went through it
sorting it out so it could go to the right locations. Gaige couldn't wait
to get naked again so he stripped down I my room and came back down to get
the new clothes and stuff we got for him. The rest of the guys were plenty
happy when they saw all the video games and toys we had brought back with
us. Carry was pleased when she saw that we thought of her to and brought
back some things for the baby and also a few personal things for her. After
about an hour we had all the stuff put away and everyone was either playing
with the monkey or with the new games or toys we brought back. I hadn't
noticed it but Adam had snuck off to the bathroom and locked himself in. I
only knew it when Nathan came and told me he couldn't get in and he needed
to go real bad. I beat on the door and no one answered it at first. "Dammit
one of you g uys locked this thing and forgot about it then shut the door."
I complained. I was just about to try to break the lock when it clicked. I
turned the handle and walked in. I nearly lost it as I saw a hilarious
sight inside. "What in the fuck did you do?" I said laughing my ass off. AJ
had apparently snuck a boy of hair dye back with him and had dyed his hair
red and spiked it into a short mohawk. He looked like a rooster from the
way he did it. "Ha ha CLUCK CLUCK!" Nathan said laughing as he ran to the
toilet and sat down real fast. "What you guys don't like it?" AJ asked. "I
don't know dude. It's definitely....different I guess." I said thinking of
a way to describe it. He smiled and jumped I the shower then to wash away
the excess dye like the instructions on the box told him to. I just shook
my head and laughed as I walked out of the room. As I walked in the kitchen
Donny, Carry, Josiah, and Phillip were sitting there with the chimp. "I'm
glad you two are the ones related to AJ." I said pointing to Joey and
Donny. "Why?" Josiah asked. "You'll see." I told them grinning.

As time went by we had fun just conversing and playing with Bongo in the
kitchen then the inevitable happened. AJ walked in the room and the
laughter roared. "I can't believe you actually did it." Josiah said
laughing his ass off. "You look like a chicken." Carry said laughing to the
point of tears. "Damn I didn't know I was going to be such a joke." AJ said
getting depressed and angry because everyone was laughing at him. He walked
out of the room and it took a minute for everyone to stop laughing. "You
guys know he's mad now." Josiah warned us. "Yeah I know. I'll talk to him
in a little bit, give him time to cool off." I said. "He told me he wanted
to do it but I didn't think he was serious about it." Joey said. "Why on
earth would he want to do that to his hair?" Carry asked. "To be
different. Bubby don't like being like everybody else, he's always been
that way." Donny said. "That is true he did always try to stand out. I
guess that might be why he's got such a temper sometimes." Josiah
explained. "You might be right. Maybe we shou ld tell him we're sorry for
laughing, that we didn't mean to it to like he took it." I said. They all
agreed with me. "I'll be back." Donny said as he left us. The chimp crawled
up in my lap and I gave him some thing to eat. Up in their room Donny found
AJ laying on the bed sulking. "Hi bubby. Sorry I laughed at you." I told
him. "It's ok bub I'm not mad at you. I kinda knew it was gonna happen, but
I guess I didn't handle it the right way. Donny sat down on the bed next to
where AJ was laying. He reached his hand over and started to rub his

do it for real." Adrien said nervously. "Well you know we're all here for
you and Carry." I said patting him on the shoulder. He smiled then and sort
of laughed for some reason. "What was that about?" I asked. "I was just
reading through the others thoughts a little and, well Chris, Josiah, and
the twins are sort of having a...group session I guess you can call it." He
said with a laugh. "Figures. Those guys stay horny." I said rolling my eyes
and smiling at the thought of a foursome. Changing the subject I asked him
about the ROOM. "Hey you made any progress on making the ROOM work like a
VR set up? You know like something we want to do instead of it making
something random from our past?" "I have been working on the problem, but I
have had limited success with it. I tested it on myself this time and I
guess you all were right about the realism of it." He replied. "Well let me
know when its ready and I'll try it out again. The memories it makes come
true are great but I think it would be better if it can make fantasies come
true." I replied. "Oh I was tapping into the satellite system around earth,
well what is left of them, and I noticed something that may be a threat to
us. I didn't want to say anything in front of the others because I didn't
want to alarm them." Adrien said. "Ok what?" I asked having my interest
peaked. He brought up a hologram display and showed me what he had
seen. "Damn that's all we need right now." I said felling a lump form in my
throat. "I think it is heading right for us. I have been tracking it for a
few days now and it seems to be heading this way." He said. The display was
showing a big storm heading right for our island, and when I say big I mean
hurricane big. "How bad is it?" I asked. "So far from what I can tell with
the information I can gather the winds are around 120 mph near the
center. I believe we may need to make preparations for this soon." Adrien
said. "How long do we have?" I asked. "Two days maybe three. After that we
will be well into the storm boundaries." He explained. "Fucking great. How
are supposed to get this place ready in 2 days for a storm like that?" I
said feeling frustrated. "Well the outer windows have the hurricane
shutters to secure them, but I feel the worst thing for us to fear may be
the storm surge, it's a big wall of ocean waves that get pushed up by the
strong winds." He explained. "So are we going to get flooded out or washed
away?" I asked. "I don't believe it is as bad as you are thinking, but it
will definitely do damage. I don't think that the boat house will be I very
good shape once the storm is passed. He said. "Well that's the least of our
worries. As long as the house and the ship are ok then we can deal with
it." I said feeling a little better now. "Keep an eye on it ok." I asked
him. "Already ahead of you. I have modified this ipod to remotely display
information from the systems here." He said. "Ok well lets get some the
others rounded up and let them know what's going on." I said then we did
just that.

"Hey every one....everybody....HEY SHUT THE HELL UP!!" I screamed at the
others to get them to quiet down so I could talk. "Damn you guys we're
trying to tell you something important." I complained. I told Adrien to go
ahead and he began to explain what was happening. "We have a rather large
storm heading towards us and it will be here in a few days. It is a
hurricane and it will do damage I will not lie about that. So far the winds
are around 120 mph and they could lessen or increase by the time it gets
here. We need to make preparations before it does get here." He told
them. Some of the guys got a little freaked out by that. "Is it going to
blow us away?" Zack asked. "No buddy this house is mostly built in the side
of the hill, most of it is under ground. The part that is out side might
get some damage but that's what we have to get ready for." I said. "Yes the
windows have the storm shutters to protect them, but the roof may suffer
some damage. The trees will su rely be damages from the winds, and I
believe the boat house will be damaged severely." Adrien explained. While
we were making the announcement about the hurricane a bright light poured
through the window. It was now evening and the sun was setting, but this
light was brighter than the brightest day. Everyone shielded their eyes
from the intense light. "What the fuck is that?!" AJ s aid covering his
face. A few seconds later the light subsided and we could see again. "Oh no
look." Phillip said pointing out the window. In the sky many miles away was
something none of us figured we would ever see in our lives. It was a
mushroom cloud stretching from the earth into the sky. "Is that what I
think it is?" I asked Adrien. "Yes and no." he replied. "Ok..." I said
giving him a questioning look. "Yes it's a mushroom cloud, and no its not a
nuclear bomb, I don't think an way." He said. "Then what the hell is it
MR. Wizard?" AJ asked still hiding his black eyes. "It came from
orbit. It's the after affects of their weapon." Adrien said. "You mean the
monsters just blasted something from space and that's what happens when
they do?" Cole asked getting scared. "Afraid so." Adrien answered. "What if
they see us and blast us?" Cody said. "Don't worry buddy we have the shield
to hide us from them." I said squeezing20the little guys shoulders. "If
they were going to blast us then they would have done it by now. You think
they would have waited to blast us this long after doing that island they
just did?" I said trying to put everyone at ease. The truth was I didn't
know myself. "Come on every body lets just settle down and stay inside the
rest of the night. Tomorrow we'll start getting things ready for the
storm." I told them. "He's right there's nothing we can do about that
island. All we can do now is get our's ready for the storm." Carry
said. She put her hands on her brothers shoulders and guided the scared
boys to their room. Once everyone was out of the room I asked Adrien a
serious question. "Are you sure that the shield is going to protect us? I
mean if you aren't and I mean even a little bit not sure then tell me
now. You all have put me in charge and its not technically a position I
want to be in but I am, so if you aren't sure tell me so I can make sure we
all live." "I can not say 100 percent yes we are safe, but I have put every
ounce of my abilities into making sure it does it's best. I mean we are
still alive aren't we.?" He said making a point. "That's not exactly the
answer I was looking for. Lets just go get some rest we're gonna have a
long couple days ahead of us." I suggested. We both went to our rooms and
settled down for a nights rest before starting the tasks of getting the
island ready for the hurricane tomorrow.
