	Prologue

Chapter ten answered a few questions, like Liam's Dad seems to be
handling things okay, but we aren't so sure of his Mom. Lenny's Dad is
doing his best to make up for lost TIME spent with his son, and Jason's
folks are yet to know what's going on. So, let's plunge back in and see
what we can find out...shall we?

Chapter 10 Is it tomorrow yet?

I woke up on Monday morning and Mom was there instead of Dad. I
guess I was a bit apprehensive about her because of what all Dad and I
talked about the previous evening. The meds had kicked in and I got pretty
sleepy, so I wasn't awake when they switched places, and therefore had no
clue about what they may have talked to each other. I was going to have to
wing it. Actually, I think I was kinda used to that already. For example,
I always had to work Mom a certain way just to get to know if it was ok for
me and Jason to go do "stuff". I'd have to sort of feel her out...find out
what kind of mood she was in, and then I could try to figure out if it was
a good idea to spring our plans on her or not. She was usually VERY
strict...but if you caught her just right... You get the idea. So, here
we go.

I shuffled around a bit in the bed and Mom quickly roused and
leaned over to wish me a good morning with a kiss on the cheek. I blushed
just a little, but as no one was in the room...I let her get away with it
without a fuss.

"When do I get to go home?" I questioned.

"Honey, as soon as the Doctor comes in and makes his morning
rounds, and signs the release forms, we'll get you out of here. How's
that, Sweetie?" She seemed determined to always talk to me like I was
twelve instead of fourteen.

	"What time is that?"

"Now Honey, we mustn't be too impatient, we're not the only
patients he has to see this morning."

Good grief. I love my Mom...she really is a cool mom, but
sometimes she drives me straight over the cliff! I had to change the
subject...and quick.

"Where's Jason?" I asked as I preened around her to check the room.
No Jason.

"Sweetie, he went home last night after you went to sleep. We
convinced him that you would be fine, and would most likely sleep all
night. He rode hoe with your Father. They acted as if they had lot's to
talk about..." her mind seemed to wander off in pursuit of that thought.
Realizing she'd left me at mid sentence, she snapped her head back toward
me as if to break the trance she was in and continued, "Honey (always with
these sappy lovey-dovey words...GRRR), do you know what's going on with
Jason? He seems so distracted these past few days."

"Umm..." my mind began racing a thousand mile an hour tying to come
up with a plausible reply, "gee Mom...I dunno. Could be anything I
suppose." I looked up at her to see if she knew I was BS-ing her. "Guy's
our age are ALWAYS distracted." I added for extra measure. I suppose she
accepted that, or at least wasn't' going to pursue it right then any more.
She turned and started gathering up their things they had brought to occupy
themselves while they were sitting up with me, going through all the
closets and drawers that the room had just to ensure I hadn't left
anything...*Good grief* I hadn't even been out of the bed except to go pee
in the pot! If anything was left, it couldn't be blamed on me.

Just then there was a knock at the door and the handle moved as
someone was entering the room. I guess I was expecting the nurse, hoping
for the Doctor; but was surprised to see the WHOLE baseball team! All of
`em! Cool.

The room erupted in a cacophony of noises, cat-calls and revelries.
They were like a herd of buffalo's! I guess I hadn't realized what twelve
teenage boys could do to peace and quiet before that moment! It was fun.
They all had to hear every detail of what happened...blow by blow
reporting, replete with sound effects, theatrical re-enactments and all.
Mom was smiling in the background, letting the boys all have their fun. It
was obvious they came to cheer me up...and it worked fantastic. The nurse
came in shortly...of course...and made a show of not being able to get
around the bed to check on me, reminding the boys that only three guests at
a time were permitted in the rooms. Someone piped up, "There's three of
us!" That was Ray. His wisdom was met with a stern look by the nurse, so
he continued, "Look, three sets of four! We're a team!" Laughter spilled
out everywhere...even the nurse cracked a smile, and she looked over at Mom
for help.

"Okay boys," she set in with her motherly command voice, "Out you
go to the waiting room and play by the RULES...you DO know about
RULES...right?" She was smiling and they all laughed and gave their `sure
thing Mrs. N' responses and began shuffling out a couple at a time. Their
ruckus was heard all down the corridor, out into the waiting area. All I
could do was beam at them and their energy. It was a perfect break from
the stress I was beginning to build up.

Jason, Ray, Daniel, and Will stayed behind and waited for the
others to filter out. I suppose the rest of the team all just knew and
accepted that the five of us were our own little band. We weren't
cliquish...all of us on the team were tight, but the five of us had all
just sort of grown up together and all hung out together. The rest were
cool, but we five were pretty tight. During the summer times, after
practice, we all managed to find a way to get to the beach together, or all
head out to the mall to hang out...or sometimes we'd all just crash at one
of our houses and raid the refrigerator and terrorize the cats or
something. Jason was the first to speak up.

"Hey Dufus!" he beamed as he punched me in the shoulder. I winced
a bit, which threw him into a fit of apologizing.

"Dang, Dufus!" I retorted, "I'm not even outta the hospital yet!
Think you can hold off on the violence for an hour or two?" We were all
giggling a bit again then. "You think I handled those two thugs pretty
good...wait `till I'm outta here and see what I can do to a wuss like you!"

Ray, Danny, and Will all goaded him on for a couple of seconds
before he could get back in control of the conversation.

"Look, Dufus," he said, starting over, "I was just gonna tell you
that Ray here..." he punched Ray in the shoulder which elicited an "OUCH"
and a rub from Ray, "called me this morning and wanted to know how you were
doing and if he could bring some of the guy's down to see you this morning.
I told him you were probably leaving this morning; so he beat-feet over and
picked me up. I called the rest of the gang and...we'll we all hitched
rides and got here as early as we could." He was beaming a bit at having
organized a rescue relief team. We figured out that there must be thirty
people in the waiting area, all waiting to see me when I got to leave the
hospital. Coach Fowler and his wife and two boys were out there, most of
the team's parents were there...at least one from each kid and even both
for a few of them. One of our regular Umpires came by, as well as the
Coach we all had from our Pee Wee league team! I suppose I had turned out
to be a regular celebrity!

"Oh!" Jason piped up, "Deputy Rose is out there too!"

"Now that's on damned BIG Deputy!" Ray exclaimed. He slapped his
hand over his mouth as he looked up and saw a big frown on Mom's face for
his choice of words. "Sorry Mrs. N. But he really is BIG!"

"Big or not...he won't be able to protect you from me if you don't
watch that language young man!" Mom scolded, shaking her finger at him. We
all busted out laughing at Ray's discomfiture.

Breaking up the banter, the nurse came in...this time in just a
little better humor as she could actually get TO me to check on me. "The
Doctor is on the floor now, and will be in just a few minutes to sign you
out." She was very helpful, and answered a ton of questions Mom had. Soon
the Doctor came in and talked directly to her for a bit.

He came over to me then and looked me over like I was a specimen,
or a lab rat. He poked, prodded, and gingerly touched me in lots of the
places I had forgotten was sore. Then, he had me sit up, listened to my
breathing and heart, making little noises of affirmation to himself as he
did so. Next, he put his stethoscope down and got his light out and looked
in my eyes, twisting the light quickly away from each of them one at a
time...that made my head swim! Then, he took both of his hands and started
feeling of my head, like it was a grapefruit! I was getting a little
embarrassed and uncomfortable...but at the same time it sort of made a
tingling in my groin. I groaned a little, surprising myself! He must have
thought he was hurting me, because he stopped immediately and looked me in
the face asking if I was okay? did he hurt me?...that kind of stuff. What
I COULDN'T tell him was that I was just afraid I'd get a full fledged BONER
if he didn't STOP! *Good Grief*

Finally he was satisfied and he gave Mom a full set of
instructions, and left the room. We all looked at one another and laughed
after the door closed. "I think he LIKES you!" Daniel quipped!

I threw my pillow at him. Damn! That hurt.

Mom shuffled them out the door and told them to go tell everybody
we were about to come out. Then she got her cell phone, called Dad, and
told him to pull the car around to the front door. I suppose in all the
commotion she had already called him and told him I was getting discharged.
She hung up and proceeded to get the rest of her things together...being
perfectly motherly...and the charge nurse came in pushing a wheel chair.

"Umm," I protested, "I can walk...I'm not crippled!"

"Hospital policy, Sweetie!" she beamed a fake smile at me. I
didn't budge. "Get in or I'll break your other arm!" HA! I thought she
was serious a second, she sounded so gruff! I must have had a panicked
expression on my face, `cause when I looked quickly over to Mom for
support, they both burst into fits of laughter.

"I take it YOU have teenagers too!" Mom said between fits of
giggles. Hardy-har-har...Glad I could provide the comic relief!

So, off I went, being whisked down the corridor to the big double
doors at the waiting area. As soon as she pushed the little button on the
wall that automatically opened the doors, the whole waiting area erupted
into cheers! There was confetti, streamers, banners, and laughter,
applause – all that was missing was the marching band! I couldn't
believe it! I had no idea this many folks would be there to greet me...it
was WAY more than thirty people. They were all around the room, down the
hallway, and out the door. I saw nearly all my class mates from school,
kids on the other teams, neighbors! Even our Pastor, and a few folks from
church (I know...you didn't think I went to church given my language
problem...but seriously, I DON'T cuss out loud...only in my head...most of
the time anyway). Damn. I was excited and overwhelmed at the same time.

Mom wheeled me past the first cluster, only to be overwhelmed by
round two, three, and four! Where did all these people come from!
Samantha Stroud, from my home room class pushed her way over too me and
leaned in and kissed me right on the cheek! She's pretty cute and all, has
long brunette curls that bounce and sway with her every move...and she
smelled REALLY good...but DAMN did that embarrass me! Right in front of my
MOM...as I was reeling from that...I looked and there was Dad, winking at
me, motioning at his cheek like he was wiping something from his face...I
blushed a thousand shades of crimson, realizing Samantha had left a big
splotch of lipstick on my face! OMG! I wiped at it, pulled my hand away
and saw her lipstick on my fingers. Everyone around me burst into fits of
laughter at my embarrassment. I quickly wiped it on my shorts and tried to
get the rest off my face.

Bewildered, I looked across the room to the covered carport where
Dad was standing beside the car waiting for us to get there. I begged for
rescue with my eyes. I could tell by his body language that he was
laughing at my dilemma, but he came on in and took hold of the chair and
began pushing me through the crowd to the car. Just at the door was Deputy
Rose. He sort of held folks back from the doorway with a simple nod of his
head. As Dad wheeled me past, Jim reached out a massive paw and shook my
hand.

"Anytime, anytime," was all he said...but I knew exactly what he
meant. I smiled up at him and he patted my shoulder as Dad pushed on past
him.

Jason was there to hold the door. He reached down and folded up the
feet thingys on the bottom of the chair and held out his hand to help me
up. I took his hand and looked up into his eyes. There was warmth there,
and sanity. He knew I wanted to get the hell out of there, and his eyes
told me he was coming with me. I began to relax. He held on to my arm and
shoulder, turned me, and helped me lower myself into the back seat. After
I got in, he leaned in and put my seatbelt around me and clasped it. As he
was pulling away, he placed his hand on my leg and gave me a squeeze. I
looked up at him, and he winked at me and shut the door. Running around
the car, he hopped in and situated himself on the other side, fastening his
own seat belt. By then Dad was in the car and ready to go...Mom wasn't in
yet. She was still talking to some of the people who came out to cheer me,
and eventually made her over to the car. When she climbed in, Jason
reached up and patted the back of Dad's seat and ordered, "Home, James!" as
if Dad was a chauffeur and he a tycoon of some sort. Jason and I both
burst into laughter, but Dad just smiled as he eye-balled us through the
rearview.

After pulling out away from a gathered crowd of well-wishers, Dad
lined us out and headed for home. I was relieved to be away from the
hospital and going home. My head itched from needing a washing, I itched
all over too. All in all though, I wasn't hurting this morning like I
thought I would be.

A block or two from the hospital, Mom turned in her seat and
looked back at me, then over to Jason. She reached back and rubbed my leg
in a motherly way. I was wearing basketball shorts and she had her hand
just under the edge of the shorts touching my bare leg. I reached out and
pulled the hem of my shorts, indicating I wasn't comfortable with her
touching me there. She curled her lip a bit, but honored my discomfort and
put her hand back on top of my shorts.

"Are you okay, Honey?" she asked.

	"Yea," I replied, "Geez...I didn't know I knew that many people!" a
grin all across my face.

"Yea!" Jason beamed. "There was at least what...two three people
there!" I took a swipe at him, which he dodged easily enough and smiled
brightly at me.

Dad was looking back at us in the rearview and chimed in, "I can't
believe THAT many people LIKE you!"

"Stop it...both of you!" Mom came to my aide. "People started
calling yesterday afternoon asking about when to come see you, Sweetie. It
was Coach Fowler's idea to organize a big party. He called and got
everybody to show up this morning. He's the one who told Ray to get with
Jason." She looked over at Jason. "Honey, you've been so sweet through
all of this. You truly are a great friend. I want you to know I'll never
forget that you were here the whole time for Liam...and for us." She
looked over at Dad then and patted him on the shoulder. "We may both seem
like rocks of Gibraltar, but this was our baby boy who got hurt! I just
don't know what we'd have done if it was more serious."

Dad turned a corner, then pulled into a fast food driveway. He
turned to look at us a second, then turned to look in the rearview again,
adjusting it to look square at Jason who was sitting behind him. "She's
right Jason. You ARE a good friend; a RARE friend. Thank you, Son. It
means more to me than you know to have you there with us." He looked at
Jason, then over to me, his eyes full of unspoken dialogue. The air was
thick.

"T.t.thank you, Sir," Jason stammered...a rarity for him...never
ever had I known him to stammer so much as I had heard in the past two
days. "I was just doing what Liam would have d.done for me." He looked
down and fidgeted with his hands in his lap.

"Who wants ice-cream?" Dad asked, breaking the stillness.

"Me!" Jason and I both exclaimed immediately, smiles beaming. Mom
just turned back to face forward, dabbing at her eyes with her tissue. How
do moms ALWAYS seem to have a tissue when they need one?

We arrived at home and Jason popped out and helped me out of the
car and into the house. It smelled like home! The air was cool from the
air conditioner, and it felt good to be there. I shuttered a bit as I
walked in, though, as I had a flash of a thought of being kicked out and
never being allowed back...to MY home! Quickly I pushed that though aside,
not even wanting to entertain it a moment. Jason must have perceived
something because he stopped and looked at me, his arm was on my shoulder
in a sort of supportive, comraditive way.

"You okay?" he mouthed, nearly silently.

I shrugged and nodded communicating it was nothing. He looked at
me longer, as if he KNEW what flashed through my mind. He squeezed my
shoulder and then nodded and helped me over to the stairs. "Mom," I
hollered across the way to Mom who was already in the kitchen, "we're going
upstairs to my room!"

"Okay, Sweetie," she called back, causing me and Jason to both roll
our eyes, reading each other's minds. "I'll bring lunch up in a little
bit. Soup and Grilled Cheese sandwiches!"

"Cool!" I called back to her, and nodded for Jason to come on up
with me. I started negotiating the stairs, and for the first time that day
realized that even my LEGS got the shit kicked out of them! Damn. We
managed to make it all the way to my room and I got to my bed and sat down
abruptly, then plopped back on my back, with my feet hanging off the side.
Jason followed me and did the same thing, only he was trying to be careful
to not jar or hurt me as he sat down.

This was the first time we had really been alone since...since we'd
both realized what was between us...possibly between us. We remained still
and quiet a very long time...both of us awash in our own thoughts. Before
I fully knew what was happening, I felt Jason take my hand in his own. We
were holding hands. I felt an electricity feeling sweep through me. This
wasn't a chance touching of hands, a casual touch...this was intimate...on
purpose...he was communicating with me...telling me something...and I liked
it. I felt a tear trickling down my face, and wasn't even aware it was
about to fall. All I could focus on was the warmth of his hand, the
softness of his touch, and the love I felt because of it. I turned my head
to my right and we were shoulder to shoulder...I wasn't even aware he was
that close. Jason was looking at me intently...his eyes were alive,
darting back and forth, quick to detect any and every nuance I gave as
reaction to his closeness, his touch, the overpowering feeling he was
pulsing to be somehow. I felt my face scrunch up to cry, and saw his do
the same thing. I quickly swallowed, willing my tears to stop.

"Liam," Jason whispered, "I...I was so scared!" A tear dripped off
his face onto the bed. "When the Coach came and knocked on the door...I
just knew it was about you...I was so terrified in that instant that you
were...were..." he wiped tears from his eyes, and I rolled over on my side
to face him. He did the same, and also placed his hands upon my chest.

	"It's okay," I whispered, "I'm okay. I..I'm sorry I scared you
J.Jason." I studied his face. He was so vulnerable just then. This just
wasn't the same boy I knew a few days ago. He was so...solid before,
so...so strong. He never, ever showed ANYBODY vulnerability, not even me.
He wasn't mean, exactly opposite in fact. He was the nicest kid ever, to
anyone. EVERYBODY liked Jason. He isn't have to be mean, or a jerk, or
mouthy, or pushy, or anything. Jason was ...just Jason. But here he was,
we were in the most intimate embrace we had EVER been in and he was showing
me he was afraid.

We laid there like that for a while, breathing the same air, and I
suppose we drifted to sleep. The next thing I knew there was a knock at my
bedroom door. The door wasn't closed, but someone was standing in the
doorway seeking permission to enter. I lifted my head slightly and saw a
smiling, brown face! Lenny!

"Hey, Bud" I said to him, "You don't have to knock." Jason rolled
back onto his back, as did I.

Lenny walked in, and the room warmed with the glow he carried in
with him. He was wearing the sexiest sheet linen white button-up shirt I
had ever in my whole life seen on a kid. I could see his dark tanned skin
clearly behind the cloth, and could even make out his nipples, and belly
button! Beneath them he had on sea-green swim shorts, made of a sort of
parachute type material...dunno what you call that stuff...but he was
drop-dead beautiful. His blonde hair framed his tanned face like a
dream. And, the shorts made the color of his already dazzling eyes just
seem to pop out! My dick twitched involuntarily, causing me a slight
blush...uncertain if either of them had noticed.

He walked over to us and stood close to the two of us, so close
that when we sat up, be bumped into him, causing him to sort of back-peddle
a step to keep from falling. He giggled at his misfortune and had a warm,
sweet smile on his face. His eyes were dancing with mischievous energy.
Some kids have ordinary eyes, some have dull, listless eyes, but Lenny's
eyes were afire with the inner brilliance and cunning of the lad behind
them.

"Hi!" he said in his unique husky voice, a bit of brogue accent
coming out of it. Hearing his sexy voice made me smile instantly. I cocked
my head slightly as he spoke. "Your Mom said I could come up. She's
nice." He turned to look back, as if looking for her to confirm what just
said. He turned back to me, put his hands in mine, and I held them in my
lap. He has a real sheepish look on his face.

"Yea," I said, "Think I'll keep her for a while." I smiled even
more at him, and Jason just punched my shoulder with his forearm...

"Geez!" he laughed at us, "get a room you two!"

I blushed. Lenny didn't. Jason laughed at the two of us.

"What are you two doing?" Lenny asked, turning to sit on my left
side, pulling my casted left hand over to his lap, playing with my fingers
and touching the cast. He looked up suddenly, "Hey? Can I sign it? No
one's signed it yet! YEA! I get to be first!" He jumped up in one
stealth move, landing out in the floor, causing Jason and I to giggle at
his exuberance. "Where's the markers! I wanna sign it! Can I sign it
first? I wanna sign it NOW!" He emphasized the last word by lowering his
voice to an even lower tone. I nearly sprang a boner just listening to him
talk!

"Over there," I pointed at my desk, "top drawer."

He rummaged through the drawer like a hyper kid, and finally came
up wielding it like a light saber! He came over and scribbled his name in
a little kid writing in great big letters right in the middle. No one
could mistake that he had staked out his territory.

We managed to find out that his Dad had brought him by the hospital
to see me, and they only got to see the crowd breaking up. Evidentially no
one thought to call him, but I'm sure no one KNEW to call him. We assured
him that he hadn't missed anything...but proceeded to tell him all the news
of the past days that he had missed out on. Finally, we managed to settle
back down after the excitement Lenny brought into the room.

Jason was now sitting in my desk chair, turned to face Lenny and
me, who were sitting side by side on the bed. Lenny was practically in my
lap, and I've no doubt WOULD'VE been had Jason not been sitting right
there. There was a new tension in the air, as we all seemed to perceive
that things had changed between us all, and there were things that needed
to be said. Neither of us were tripping over the other to jump in first.
The silence continued until Lenny couldn't stand it any longer and he began
to giggle at the absurdity of it all, soon enough all three of us were
laughing uncontrollable. I was holding my sides, as the laughter was
incredibly painful, and yet that caused me to laugh all the harder.

Dad appeared in the doorway, leaning against the doorpost. Once we
recognized he was there we tried...vainly...to stop laughing. He grinned
at our boyish behavior and said, "There's soup, sandwiches, and milk,
downstairs for any hungry munchkins who may be interested."

In a flash we were all up and rambling down the hall in fits of
giggles and laughter. Dad followed us down the hallway, and noticed I was
still staggering and not to steady on my feet. "Don't try to over do it,
Son. Here, let me help." He placed an arm around me, helping me hobble
down the stairs. At the bottom, I decided I might take a nap on the couch
downstairs before I tried to take those stairs again. Still, we made it to
the table where Mom had lunch all set out, milk poured in glasses, and food
set before each of us. Dad said grace, and we dove n...I was surprised at
how ravenous I was...but it looked like Jason and Lenny were too! I
suppose it could have something to do with Mom's good cooking!

We ate, and ate, and ate. Eventually sated, we began to slow, then
stop. I was absolutely sure there was no way in the world I could make the
stairs again. I looked over at Jason with sleepy eyes. "I can't believe
how sleepy I am."

	"Me too!" he added.

"Me three!" chirped in little Lenny, with a giggle.

"Well," Mom said, having just returned from clearing all the
dishes. "Lenny's Dad has gone to get things cleared away so he can take
the next few days off." She looked over at Lenny and said, "By the way
Lenny, you have such a sweetheart for a Daddy!"

	"Thanks!" Lenny mumbled in response.

"Anyway, Leslie won' be back until dinner time, I've already
invited him to come over to have dinner with us. So, Lenny," she looked
back to him, "you can just stay here with us and we'll all take a nap and
see what comes of the afternoon when we wake up." We all looked from one
to the other. How do parents think so far ahead?

"I guess I'll just walk home then," Jason said in a slightly
dejected tone. It was if he had just been kicked out of the playhouse. It
was a sad look, and it made me giggle a bit at his theatrics, as I KNEW
what he was up to.

"Nonsense, " Mom interjected, "You'll do no such thing young man.
It's too hot out there for man, nor beast. I've already called you
parents, they're coming for dinner as well, then you are staying the night
here. You can see to Liam, and take care of him if he needs help in the
night." I nearly choked on my milk! Lenny and Jason were equally taken
back by her choice of words, and we all broke out in a fit of hilarity,
even Dad couldn't help but contribute a couple of chuckles as well.

"Alright, boys!" Mom finally said, getting us all back under
control. "Jason, you give Liam a piggy back ride up the stairs, I'm sure
he's not in shape to make that trip again this afternoon. Lenny, you come
with me and I'll give you some extra linens and pillows so the three of you
can nap up on Liam's bed." Again, we all stared at each other wide eyed in
disbelief at what we were hearing.

"Please!" Mother said in a half exasperated voice. "It's not like
neither of you have slept together before...and THIS time you'll ALL have
on your clothes!" She raised her eyebrows and me and Lenny...who both
turned respectfully scarlet in a flash. "Don't think I don't know what
goes on in my own house," she said matter-of-factly. "Move!" We all
instantaneously jumped up and scrambled to do as we were assigned!

Dad was left sitting at the table sipping his coffee (how could you
drink that crap when it's 100 degrees F. outside and near that much
humidity?). I looked over to him as Jason situated himself in front of me
and I put my arms around his neck. Dad shrugged his shoulders, and gave me
the classic "WTF" look and then winked at me. He motioned for us to go on
upstairs, so Jason leaned forward and off we went.

Don't be so surprised at Jason carrying me piggy-back. I told you
before that we'd wrestled and played every kind of mortal combat game we
could connive. One of the things Jason's dad taught us is how to carry
wounded soldiers off the battlefield. Seems there are dozens of ways they
teach in the military, and as he was a Tech Sergeant in the Army before he
got out...he knew quite a few "tricks." Allot of which he taught us. This
particular method was for a wounded soldier who could still carry a weapon.
The carrier would sling his weapon over his shoulder, the wounded man would
put his arms over the shoulders of the carrier and use is weapon to shoot
as necessary. In fact, it was such a good position, both men could use a
side arm if necessary. It sounds easy enough, but if you throw in running,
bouncing (and giggling), it gets harder to do, and Jason and I stained a
few knees of our britches falling in the grass in fits of laughter trying
to perfect our carries. By the way, our favorite was the over the shoulder
Fireman's Carry. The carrier stands up the wounded man, takes one of the
wounded guy's arms, pulls it across his shoulder, leans down and then grabs
the guy's leg and hoists him up on his shoulder. When you get the
mechanics of it down, you can learn to take one hand to hold the arm and
leg in front of you, and wield a weapon in the other! Pretty cool stuff.

Anyway, Jason started up the stairs with me, and I could hear Mom
rummaging around for more pillows with Lenny giggling at her antics. I was
pre-occupied by the sensation of being carried up the stairs with my arms
around Jason's neck. I could smell his hair, and my face was right beside
his. His arms reached behind him as he reached to encircle my legs. At
first, he kept his hands at his sides, but after only a few steps he was
wobbling, so he used all his resources to keep from dropping me. THAT
wouldn't have been fun. I wrapped my legs around his waist in an effort to
be more contributive to the effort, resulting in my dick being forced into
tighter contact. There was just no way I could conceal the boner that was
coming to life in my basketball shorts. Damn.

He turned his head slightly towards mine and said, "Dude!"in a
hushed tone. I knew what he was talking about without further revelations.

"S.sorry," I pleaded, equally quiet, "what am I gonna do about it
though? Not like I can just hop down!" We banged heads slightly. I
cursed under my bed, he started laughing we fell on the bed just as he was
loosing complete control. We made it, but barely. *Whew*

We were laying there giggling when Mom and Lenny appeared in the
door way. Somehow, my erection had managed to go down...mostly. Still, I
scooted up and into the middle of the bed as the other two quarreled
teasingly about which side they were to take. Jason, being the oldest and
strongest insisted that gave him right to choose. Lenny said he was
youngest and prettiest so HE could choose. I had to choose for them. As
we all settled in, Mom flipped out he light, but left the door open. She
had us leave the blankets all made up, and threw an extra sheet over us.
It felt cool, and comfortable. I was not sure what all was going on...but
I believed everything was going to work itself out. I hoped so anyway.

Before she left the room, Mom looked back at the three of us and said, "You
boys look cute all in a row there. Try to get some rest. Jason, Honey,
your medicine will make you sleepy. Boys," speaking now to Lenny and
Jason, "if you wake later and he is still asleep, just come on down and
don't wake him. He'll need lots of sleep to get over his injuries. The
body heals while you sleep." She smiled warmly at us and left us quite,
and alone together. Each of us knew that we couldn't talk about stuff
right now, and we certainly couldn't DO anything together as Mom was going
to be just down the hall. But seriously, I'm not sure we WANTED to be
sexual with each other...well...LENNY might have...but me and Jason had a
lot of shit to talk about...so did me and Lenny come to think of it. But
right then, it was so perfect to have these two beside me.

I wondered just what Mom meant by "...don't think I don't know what
goes on in my own house..." Was she talking about seeing me and Lenny nude,
together, in the same bed? Or...did she know more? Or, was she just
putting two and two together? Had she figured out about me and Jason...and
now Lenny? If so...why did she put us all up here together and not
freaking out? *Good grief* How could I figure all this shit out? I
guessed Dad hadn't really had a chance to talk to her...or he would have
told me. He was easier to figure out than she was. It was all too
confusing to me.

I was getting pretty sleepy, and noticed that little Lenny had
already snuggled up and glombed onto my right arm, his face half on the
meaty part of my shoulder as a pillow. I could feel his rhythmic breathing
and knew he was asleep already, or nearly. I decided Lenny should be on my
right side, unless he forgot about my left and made me hurt myself. I
figured Jason was less likely to forget something like that...so I guess
the sleeping arrangements weren't completely without some forethought
afterall.

I looked over at Jason, and he was staring at me. It kinda spooked
me a bit, and I guess I jerked slightly. " I love you," he mouthed at me,
and I smiled in return.

"Me too," I mouthed back. We looked into each other's eyes for a
long, long time. He was telling me something with them...I couldn't figure
it out...for sure...but I knew his eyes were kind, and warm...and at that
moment, I knew in my heart that we would find away to be together. We were
going to make it through this together.

Under the sheet, Jason turned on his side to face me; I was on my
back. He reached across my midriff where my arm was propped, and snuggled
in on my left side, interlacing his fingers with mine. It took a couple of
seconds for us to get comfortable with the cast and all, but we found our
comfort zone and drifted off to sleep. Whatever else was going to
happen...we had this moment...it was perfect. It turned out to be the only
time we three were ever in the bed together again. Me in the middle, the
two most perfect friends in the universe on either side of me, all snuggled
in together, all at ease, and content to be just as we were. Neither of us
had a boner, I could tell THEY didn't by the way they were snuggled up to
me! I didn't. It wouldn't have been right just then I suppose. Right at
that moment, we weren't lovers, we were friends. It was perfect.
