Chapter 1

Sitting alone, once again, in the library, in his usual spot. The lonely
little spot in the corner where he sat daily. His excuse to his friends
was that he had homework to get done. Of course he knew in his own mind
the real reason: He was scared, scared of the swarming mob of sounds and
eyes that seemed to plague his mind when he exited the library doors out
into the Atrium. Staring out the windows that surrounded his corner he
thought, "Why can't I just be like all those other kids out there? I used
to be friend's with a lot of them, what happened??"

The boy sighed deeply and looked back down at the work he was doing for the
next day that truthfully, could have waited. Soon his mind wandered back
to the windows. To everyone around it looked like he was just
procrastinating and staring out into nowhere. But in his own mind he knew
he had a purpose. Just as he was about to pry his gaze from the outside
world, he saw what he had been secretly waiting for; the short brown haired
boy walked around the corner of the hallway leading to the cafeteria. The
younger boy passed by, unaware of the eyes that followed him from the other
side of the window.

Within 10 seconds the beautiful brown haired boy was gone, down into the
middle school area of the school once more. Sighing, the lonely boy behind
the glass went back to his work, not having and reason to stare out the
window anymore. The sight he waited to see every day was gone for another
24 hours.

"Hey Charlie."

Startled by the voice, the boy turned to see who had come into the small
world he had created for himself in the library. Alison was standing there
looking happy as ever, just like she had been ever since they had started
going out a few months earlier. "God! Why can't she make me as happy as I
make her?" Charlie thought as she neared. Hiding his true state of mind
he smiled brightly and greeted Alison warmly. As they talked thoughts of
the boy that had just left Charlie's world until the next day swam about
inside his mind.

It had been six months since that day in the library, summer had passed and
school had started once again. Alison and Charlie were no longer together
as of about a month earlier. Many things had brought the end of their
relationship, but most of all it was Charlie thinking that he was gay. It
had been something that had been in his thoughts for years but he never
really realized it or accepted it, until he had ended up hurting someone he
cared for, Alison. But that was all over now and there was nothing he
could do. Over the summer the boy from school had wandered through his
thoughts many times. Now that he was back at school, Charlie found that he
had gym class with the boy.

Quickly, he came to look forward every day to his gym class. While in the
class Charlie found out the boy's name was Jonas.  How beautiful he was;
everything from his short cut brown hair to his small 4 foot 11 inch frame
mesmerized Charlie.

Feelings swiftly surged throughout his body and took him from this world
into one where the most primitive of human instincts take over. His body
shook with convulsions while wave after wave of untainted pleasure flowed
through his veins controlling his body. The haze now slowly dissipating
and his mind starting to process things clearly again, Charlie looked down
at the sticky mess that lay on his stomach. He sighed and got out of bed
to go to the bathroom down the hall. Once he was cleaned up and back in
bed he drifted off to sleep with thoughts of Jonas floating about in his
head.

Charlie woke up in the morning and felt a familiar wetness under him. "God
damn!! Can I really be that attracted to the kid??" he thought as he
crawled bleary-eyed out of bed to get something to clean up his nighttime
mess.

Looking at the clock as he stumbled sleepily back into his room,"6:50" he
thought. It was 10 minutes before he usually woke up, "I guess I'll take a
shower." He said, his voice echoing through the empty bedroom.

Making his way down the hall, the peaceful slowness of morning still
resonated in his movements. Quietly Charlie closed the bathroom door,
which had a tendency to creak loudly. He turned on the shower, and when
the water was warm, he slipped behind the curtain. The warm stream
cascading down over the boy's made him sigh in content pleasure.

When he shut off the water and stepped out to dry off his mind yet again
went to Jonas. Eyes closed as he dried himself, he thought about pressing
his lips into those of the younger boy, rubbing his hands over the small
boy's body. A loud rap at the door struck into Charlie's thoughts and
shattered his fantasy. Quickly he wrapped the towel around his waist and
opened the door.

"Taking long enough in there?" his brother joked.

Charlie merely grunted a reply and made his way to his room. The stillness
had all but dissipated from the hall, with the stirrings of the rest of
Charlie's family throughout the house, just as it eventually did every
other day.

Within minutes Charlie was caught up in the morning rush, and was soon out
the door and what seemed like mere minutes after was in the school
hallways. His eyes scanned the people inconspicuously looking for Jonas.
Not seeing him, he went back to getting his things out of his backpack.

"Hey." Charlie turned slow to face the quiet, feminine voice that had
addressed him. Heather, his friend from halfway through the prior year.
He knew it was her just from the way she had said hey.

"Hey." He replied casually. They talked for a minute or two when Charlie
spotted, over her shoulder the boy he had dreamed about the night before.
Charlie lost all focus on their conversation and stared openly in the
direction of the boy. Jonas wandered down the hallway, drawing all of
Charlie's attention. He looked up and his and Charlie's eyes met for a
brief moment. Charlie quickly turned his gaze back to Heather. Blood
rushed quickly to his face. Heather laughed at him knowing exactly what he
was looking at. She knew of his strong attraction for the younger boy.

"Yeah yeah quiet down." Charlie said not truly mad at her. "I've gotta go
to class but I'll talk with you later." She said her goodbye and he walked
to his first class feeling embarrassed about the boy of his dreams finding
him staring. "I guess it was bound to happen one of the times." He thought
just before the bell rang and he hurried to get to class.

The day drearily dragged on. Charlie's classes never seemed to interest
him. His mind was never stayed on the subjects long. His teacher's words
slowly faded out of conscious thought and became like a dull hum only
registering in the back of his brain. A glazed look fell over his eyes.
His surroundings, the people, voices, the school, all faded away and were
replaced by the quiet stillness of the morning that had passed only an hour
or so before. Except this time things were different, instead of waking to
a sticky wetness on him, he felt a warm heat radiating from another body
that lay beside him. Opening his eyes Charlie saw the small boy sleeping
next to him, his head sweetly resting on Charlie's shoulder. He looked so
beautiful and innocent lying there asleep. Charlie ran his fingertips ever
so lightly over his cheek, and down his neck. The younger boy's eyes
opened slow, heavy with the shrouds of sleep. He made a small sound of
approval, and pushed closer into Charlie's body. Charlie lay his head back
down onto the pillow just above Jonas's head.

Charlie jerked his head up quickly, looking around confused. School
flooded his sight and all the things he had just left came back. He had
been ripped out of his perfect dream, too quickly. "Fuck!!" He thought,
"Why did it have to be a dream." He looked around, his vision slightly
blurry, and saw Kat.

"Is class over?"

"Yeah." She said laughing a little, "I guess you were pretty tired."

"I guess so..." He left the class rather quickly so as not to be late for
the next. As with the first the class moved slowly. When it was finally
over, Charlie remembered that gym was next. His mood immediately rose. He
knew for the next hour he'd be able to be near and maybe have the chance to
talk with Jonas.

Footsteps resonated off the walls of the empty hall as Charlie made his way
towards the gym early, hoping to see Jonas for just a few moments longer.
When he entered the gym, Charlie was surprised to see Jonas standing by the
door taking off his backpack. He quickly turned his eyes away from the boy
not wanting to get caught staring at him again. Still catching slight
glimpses of the younger boy from the corner of his eye, Charlie went to sit
on the bleachers. Sitting down, he breathed heavily trying to clear the
nervousness from his body. Whenever he was near Jonas, he was always held
back by his fears and insecurities that would well up in him. He hated his
shyness. It had always bothered him. Charlie was shaken from his thoughts
when he felt a thump on the row of bleachers he was on. He looked over; he
was met with the large innocent brown eyes of the small boy he had such
strong feelings for. Charlie looked down at his feet quickly. "Damn me
for being shy!!" he thought.

He thought about talking to the boy, but just as words reached the tip of
his tongue, they were beaten back, back down the throat into the deepest
parts of his body. There they couldn't make their escape lost in the
darkness of Charlie's soul. His will to talk to the boy diminished every
time his words were misplaced. Finally he just slumped down in his seat,
mad at himself, and wishing he wasn't the way he was.

The bell rang and kids started to file in. Nothing else happened that day.
Charlie left the class still angry with himself for not being able to just
say Hi. The rest of the time dragged with what was left of the school day,
and homework. Charlie went to bed fairly early, but didn't end up falling
asleep for a few hours. Thoughts raced through his head. Mostly they were
fixated on why he had to like boys, and wishing he could change it.
Depressed and lonely he fell asleep hoping for things to look up the next
morning.
