The Homeroom Bunch

Chapter 4

He grabbed his bath towel and cleaned himself, then finished dressing and
went to watch some television before bedtime. At about 9:30, Colin said good
night to his parents and headed for his room to get some sleep.

Back over at the Maxwell's Shawn was telling his Dad about his day. Shawn
looked at his Dad and was saying, "This was about the best day at school I
have ever had. I met this new kid and it's like we have known each other for
ever." While Shawn was talking, he mother came over and sat beside him.
"Dad, can I say something honestly with out you getting all upset and
stuff?"

James Maxwell worked hard to provide well for his family. His stipend from
being of Scottish royalty was what allowed him to give his wife and son the
extras they wanted without having to work overtime or a second job. With all
that, he was very much aware of his son and his lack of a real friend.

James set the newspaper down and looked at his son. "Shawn, first off I
would never get mad or upset with you for anything you came and told me
yourself. Next, you are my son and I love and care for you unconditionally.
Now what is on your mind big boy?"

Shawn looked over at his Mother for a little moral support and said "Well
Dad, this new friend I met today he is just so cool. He's also very shy and
gets scared very easy. I have him in every one of my classes and I like him
a lot. I can't stop thinking about him."

James decided he would try to help Shawn out here. He knew he might scare
his son at first but with is Mother there it would go smooth. "Son, are you
trying to say this guy might be more that a friend? It sounds like me when I
met your mother in high school many years ago."

Now it was Shawn's turn to get scared. He couldn't believe he had said so
much in so few words. Suddenly he felt his Mother's soft hand on his arm and
he relaxed a little. "Dad, I'm not sure. He a neat kid and like I said
before he's real shy but not around me and he does like me too. He broke
down in the bathroom today and I just held him and let him cry it out of his
system. When I looked into his eyes, I knew I felt something more for him
than friendship. I also know what this means too Dad and this is what I hope
you don't go and blow a gasket over."

James looked right at his son and said, "I know it may seem that I am very
busy with work and I don't notice what is going on in your life. It's quite
to the contrary son; I see that over the past few years you have become
almost a hermit here in the house. You stopped bringing your friends here
after a few times and that worried me. I do remember the last friend you had
over. You and he had got so close then all of a sudden he quit coming over
and I know why. Something more was happening and you didn't know how to
handle or understand it. Maybe I should have gone to you, but the last thing
I wanted was to come across like I was trying to interfere in your life. Now
I am going to ask you a question and please just answer it honestly. Do you
love this boy?"

Shawn took a deep breath before speaking. "Yes Dad, I do. I love him with
all my heart. I even want to spend the rest of my life with him. Please
don't be angry with him. It wasn't his fault. I couldn't help it."

His Dad looked at him and smiled. "Be angry at him. How could I be angry
with someone my son loves? I know this is very new to us but you are our son
and we will support you and your friend all the way. I do have one question
son. What is this young man's name?"

When he heard that, Shawn started laughing. "Oops sorry Dad, his name is
Colin. You will love him. Mom does and she even called him another son. Dad,
I have checked a few things out on the Internet and I know there are a lot
of people who don't like gays. That's so sad. I just wish people could be
happy for us because we are. I do think it may be best if we just act like
friends except around those that know and support us."

That statement surprised him. James wondered how some people knew about his
son before him. "Shawn these people who know, are you comfortable with them
knowing? I don't want you and Colin getting hurt is all."

Shawn looked up and said, "Yeah Dad it's cool. I almost choked on my gum
when Bill said something but he and the rest of the bunch are totally cool
with it. Everyone does think though that it best if we just keep this among
ourselves."

James smiled at his son. "So when do I get to meet this person who has such
a tight hold on my son's heart?"

Shawn got up and went over to his Dad and gave him a hug and said "Colin's
having dinner here tomorrow and then he's spending the night."

James did something that he hadn't done in a long time and he totally
caught Shawn off guard. He reached out and pulled his son onto his lap and
held him like he did when he was much smaller. He cuddled his son and said,
"I hope the two of you are very happy together. I want you to know that I
love you very much son."

Shawn laid he head against his Dad's chest and said "I love you too Dad."
He got himself comfortable and the next thing he knew his Dad was carrying
him upstairs towards his bedroom.

Next morning his alarm was waking him up for school. Shawn rolled and
turned off the noise. He rubbed the sleep out of his eyes and his mind went
to the love of his life. He felt a stirring in his loins but he decided to
pass for right now. Shawn got up and took his morning leak then grabbed a
quick shower so he could eat before leaving to meet Colin and the rest of
the homeroom bunch.

Colin awoke on his own without the aid of his alarm clock. He got himself
dressed and went down to have breakfast. He just set his bowl in the sink
when he heard the doorbell ring. When he opened the door he saw Shawn
standing there. Colin pulled him inside and closed the door so he could hug
Shawn. "I have everything packed in my backpack. I slept very well so you
don't have to worry about me being tired tonight. Now come on so we won't be
late for school."

The two boys headed out and the rest of the homeroom bunch was heading up
Colin's driveway to see where he and Shawn were. They all said their hellos
and left to go to school.

The morning block of classes flew by for the boys. It seemed they just got
there when it was lunchtime. The six kids sat together eating and discussing
what they wanted to do over the weekend. Lance looked at Colin and asked
"Hey dude, what are you going to be doing this weekend?"

Colin swallowed his mouthful of pizza and said, "Well I'm having dinner at
Shawn's then spending the night. What are you guy's doing?"

Lance looked back and replied; "Maggie and Bill are going to a movie so Ray
and I were just going to maybe watch a DVD or something."

Shawn spoke up saying, "Well, we weren't sure what we would do so you think
you two could come over and we all could do something together?"

Ray and Lance just looked at each other and smiled. Ray spoke saying "Cool
idea. We'd love to."

The group looked at the clock and got ready to head back to class. The rest
of the day flew by as fast as the morning and soon they were all back at
Colin's locker getting ready for the walk home.

The group talked about what they wanted to do. Maggie and Bill had decided
they were going to see the Matrix 2. When Lance heard this he started
moaning. "Oh man, I so want to see that movie. Keyaneu Reeves is so hot. He
could do anything to me."

Ray looked at him and said, "Well babe, anytime you think you can do better
somewhere else, go for it."

As soon as he heard those words Lance spoke "I've heard you say so and so
was hot. Did I ever say that to you? No I never did."

Suddenly Maggie broke out into a loud laugh. "God Lance did you ever fall
for that. Do you think Ray would ever leave you or want you to leave him?
Score one for Ray."

Lance got very red in the face. He started to hang his head until he felt
Ray's hand slip into his and saw him smiling. The walk home seems to take
less time today. When they all got to Shawn's house the homeroom bunch said
their good byes and Shawn and Colin went inside.

The boys went inside and Shawn said, "Mom, we're home."

Mrs. Maxwell came out of the kitchen and said, "How are my boys this
afternoon? Did you have a good day at school?"

Colin spoke first. "Yes mam, the day flew by for us. I wish the rest of the
year would do that."

Mrs. Maxwell said "Why don't you boys get out of your school clothes then
come back down here and I will have a snack for you. When you two have
finished that, you can go and play until your Dad comes home Shawn. He said
he can't wait to meet Colin."

The boys changed and had their snack and went out to play until Shawn's Dad
came home from work. Shawn and Colin met the rest of their friends and they
all went off bike riding. During this excursion, Lance and Ray said their
respective Mother's had given each of them permission to come over after
dinner.

The gang returned to their houses about quarter to six and Shawn noticed
his Dad was indeed home from work. Shawn and Colin said their goodbyes to
everyone and headed to the house.

Shawn led Colin into the living room so he could make the introduction to
his Dad. "Hi Dad, how was your day? I would like you to meet my best friend
Colin."

Mr. Maxwell lowered his paper and gazed at Colin. Reaching his hand towards
the boy he said, "So this is the boy that has my son's heart tied up like a
Christmas present? It is so nice to meet you."

Colin tensed up and said, "Yes...yes...yes sir. It is very nice to meet you
too, sir."

Mr. Maxwell looked at Colin and in a gentle fatherly voice said, "It's
alright son. I know all about you and its fine. We support you and Shawn
totally. In this house you two can be yourselves and no one will ever say
anything against you." When he finished those words, he gave Colin a hug
like he had Shawn when he learned his son was gay.

Colin relaxed in Mr. Maxwell's arms. He whispered "Thank you sir. I do love
Shawn and he makes me very happy. I'm really glad I met him. Thank you for
inviting me to dinner and to spend the night. It was really nice of you."

Mr. Maxwell looked at Shawn and said, "I guess your mother is right. We do
have ourselves another son here. Now why don't you two get cleaned up and
ready for dinner."

Colin had a smile that occupied his entire face. He turned and took Shawn
by the hand and went upstairs to get washed for dinner. "How did your Dad
know about us? Did you tell him?"

Shawn dried his hands and handed the towel to Colin saying, "Yeah, I did
babe but would you believe it if I told you he suspected something? Didn't
you hear him when he said he was totally behind us? I have a great idea when
Ray and Lance get here. Let's you and me go and let them in and then hold
hands in front of my Mom and Dad."

Colin started laughing when he heard that. "I like that. Ray will crap a
brick. Let's do it then."

The boys continued laughing as they came down the stairs. With each
additional step they took going down, they laughed harder and harder so by
the time they were on the ground floor, they were in hysterics.

The boys were still in a fit of hysterics when they reached the table. Try
as they might, they just couldn't stop the giggles. Shawn's Dad enjoyed a
good laugh as much as the next person but this was getting out of control.
"Alright boys, that's just enough." Mr. Maxwell said.

Just the sound of him in that stern 'Dad' voice quickly silenced the two
laughing teens. "Sorry Dad," Shawn said with a grin on his face. "Colin and
I just came up with a way to get Lance and Ray. When they come inside, we
were going to hold hands as we walked into the living room. They haven't a
clue that you and Mom know about us. We just want them to know its ok too."

The rest of the dinner went without much fanfare. Shawn and Colin helped
Mrs. Maxwell clear the dishes off the table. The dishes just got finished
when the doorbell rang. Colin and Shawn decided that it was time to put
their plan in motion. They opened the door and Lance and Ray came inside.
The four boys greeted each other then they headed to the living room. About
half way there, Colin took Shawn's hand and the Maxwell's were standing to
greet Ray and Lance.

Ray stopped and whispered to Shawn. "Hey Shawn, are you crazy?" Shawn
looked at Ray and kept walking towards his parents.

Lance finally figured it out and took Ray's hand. He reached out and
slapped Shawn on the back saying, "You're parents are real cool Shawn. You
are so lucky dude."

Shawn made the introductions. Afterward, the four boys headed up to Shawn's
room and they spent about 45 minutes on the computer reading some of the
teen's stories from that gay web site. At 8:30, the group came down to watch
the second Harry Potter movie.

Before the movie started Mrs. Maxwell fixed four large bowls of popcorn and
sodas for each of the boys to munch on while watching the movie. As soon as
it started, the boys paired up and snuggled together so they watch the movie
in comfort.

The Maxwell's saw them cuddled together and just smiled. The movie ended at
11:00 and Ray and Lance had to go back home. Shawn's parents retired to
their room so the boys could have some privacy when saying good night.

Each boy exchanged a hug with the others along with a kiss on the cheek.
These four boys had formed a strong bond and it seemed saying goodbye was
hard on them. Shawn looked at Ray and Lance and said, "Hey guys we can have
a big sleep over during spring break or when school gets out. Does that
sound cool with you?"

They all looked at each other and smiled having a group hug. Ray broke the
hug and said "Sounds good guys. We better get going before our Moms will
have our hides."

Shawn and Colin held hands going up the steps and down the hall to Shawn's
room. As they past Shawn's parent's room his Dad called out his name.
Opening the door, Shawn stuck his head inside and said, "Yes sir? You called
us?"

The boys stepped inside and saw the adults with smiles on their faces. Mr.
Maxwell said to the boys, "You have two very nice friends there. They also
appear to be very much in love as you are. I hope they know that they can be
themselves when they are over here?"

Colin looked at Mr. Maxwell and said, "Oh that they do sir. I think they
were surprised when we walked in the living room holding hands but Lance
sure got the message quick. I'm glad you both like them."

Mrs. Maxwell said, "We just want you all to be happy with who you all are.
That's what's important to us. Well it's getting late and I know you boys
must be getting sleepy. Sleep well and we will see you both in the morning."
The Maxwell's held their arms out and gave each boy a hug and kiss before
sending them down to their room.

When Shawn closed his door, Colin wrapped his arms around his love and gave
him a very passionate kiss. "I love you Shawn," Colin whispered. After a few
minutes of hugs and kisses, the boys got themselves ready for bed. They did
the usual nightly routines then Shawn led Colin to his bed. When Colin was
in, Shawn turned off the light and they wrapped themselves in each others
arms. Each boy kissed the other good night and they slipped off to a very
peaceful sleep.

Both boys woke in the same position in the morning. This time no words were
exchanged between them instead they gave each other a good morning kiss.
Shawn pulled Colin close for a hug and when his hand pressed against his
bladder, Colin's eyes got big and he had to quickly head for the bathroom to
empty his bladder.

Shawn was right on his heels and Colin slid over a little so the boys could
have a sword fight in the toilet bowl. Shawn apologized saying, "I'm sorry
babe. I didn't mean to make you need to run in here."

Colin finished his business and said, "That's alright. This is the first
thing I have to do every morning any way. Did you sleep well? I know I sure
did, you're soft to cuddle next to."

Shawn kissed Colin on the cheek then the smells of breakfast arrived at
both boys' noses. They got dressed in what seemed like record time and went
to see what smelled so good in the kitchen.

The Maxwell's were preparing a breakfast of waffles, sausage, hash brown
potatoes and toast. The boys' mouths' were watering but they didn't have
long to wait. Each boy carried a plate to the table then dove into a feast.
When the meal was finished, they were told to go and play and have a good
time.

Saturday flew by for the boys and soon it was time for Colin to go back to
his home. Colin said, "I will miss you babe. I will never forget last night.
Everything was just so perfect. I can't thank your parents enough for
inviting me to stay."

Shawn looked into his loves eyes and said, "Colin, you made last night so
special for me. I am so happy we met and I know there will be many more
nights we spend together just like we did last night. I love you. Tomorrow
will go by fast then we will be together again." Then Shawn kissed Colin
gently on the lips.

Colin returned the kiss and waved goodbye to his friend as he left to go to
his house. Sunday flew by for Colin and the next thing he knew it was time
to get dressed and ready for school and to meet the rest of the homeroom
bunch.
