In Time

The flight home had been exhausting, due to the delays caused by the snow
storms. Jacob collapsed on his bed and finally got some much needed
rest. He looked around and realized something. It was the first time in a
long time that he'd truly been alone. Every other time he'd been alone, he
had Corey with him, but now he was truly alone. His thoughts seemed to mull
over and over again in his head, but the conversation he'd had when he was
sick, kept playing stuck on replay and wouldn't leave him alone. The
future. It truly held a plethora of fear and anxiety, and yet hope was
there too. The fact: He was so far in love, and yet unsure what he could do
to make it permanent, aside from a promise.

Jacob reached down and played with the pendent on his chest. He looked down
at it. The green and black pendent of flames that reminded him of those
emerald eyes. Those piercing pupils making naked his every thought and
fear. Yet it was something that made him feel only that much closer to
Corey. He took a breath and let it out as he remembered the more intimate
moments and felt himself let go of his fears for just a few moments. The
touch of their skin and warmth they exchanged. The taste of his lips as
their tongues danced. Jacob could feel the hormones and adrenaline already
coursing through his veins, as he began to harden.

He reached beneath the waist of his pants and began to hold himself and
started slowly stroking, as the thoughts continued to race through his
mind. Every image of Corey, every time he'd seen him partially naked,
naked, the various things they tried. It almost overwhelmed him, and he
began to move his hand faster. The room felt like it had heated up and a
sweat developed on his brow. He tried to keep focus, as his thoughts began
to drift away. A sense of anxiety and worry began to creep up on him that
he'd been feeling earlier. He continued to stroke faster and did his best
to focus on the images of him and Corey having sex, but they became
hazier. He could feel the blood begin to drain and he started going
soft. Jacob tried in vain to re-stimulate the feelings but they'd left him
at this point. Finally, Jacob threw his hand down on his bed in frustration
and tried to regain his breathe that'd left him moments earlier. Jacob lay
on his bed for a few minutes, as he came down from the hormonal high. He
picked up the remote for his stereo and turned it on. He looked at the
small screen to see what would play:

Seven Lions - Worlds Apart [feat. Kerli]

Jacob almost laughed to himself at the cruel irony he felt, that the song
betrayed about his feelings with himself and Corey. Again the anxiety and
fear crept into him, and he wondered what he could do at his age to seal
things against the inevitable future - and the possibilities it brought.
Yet nothing made sense at his age, and nothing came to mind. Jacob let out
a long sigh, as he turned on his side and let the song's lyrics and the
beautiful voice take him away.

"If you're so near, then why do you feel this far, why are we worlds
apart?"

Jacob let the line played over in his head. Indeed he did wonder why they
were worlds apart.

The paper lay on the counter unmoved. The title screamed out for
attention. It was the state news for Arizona. Mr. Olson re-read and re-read
the description and the information. He brought the paper over to Jack and
Caleb who were sitting watching television.

"You might want to turn off the television," Mr. Olson said as he handed
the paper to Caleb.

Jack switched off the television for them and looked at the headline:

Arizona Inmate dies under mysterious circumstances

Caleb read further down. He looked over each line. There was no known cause
for the death. He was found dead in his cell with nothing showing up in his
toxicology report, no heart attack, and no aneurysm. He simply died.
Mr. Stevens was dead. Caleb gently placed the paper down on the table and
leaned back into the couch. Jack immediately took him into an embrace.
Caleb continued to stare off into space and let the wall occupy his vision,
as his thoughts raced to the speed of light and beyond. He didn't even
realize he'd started crying until the tears had touched his lips. His
emotions began to flood out, as the memories continued to sting him. He
took deep breaths trying to control it, but it felt impossible to breathe
in this tidal wave of emotions that he was sinking into. Finally after ten
minutes, or so, he had gotten himself back under control. Caleb took a few
more deep breaths before standing up and composing himself.

"Dad, did we ever get those letters back from evidence?"

His dad looked at him strangely for a moment, before walking away to go to
his office. He returned a few moments later with a stack of envelopes in
his hand.

"They're right here," his dad stated plainly.

Without saying anything, Caleb took the letters into his hand and walked up
the stairs to his room. Jack began to follow, before Caleb stopped and gave
him a look that said: "don't follow!" Jack stayed behind. Caleb looked
through his drawers and found what he'd been looking for. He quickly went
down the stairs and went out to the back porch. Jack followed him this time
and watched him pull out a small black lighter.

"You were looking for a lighter?"

"It's helped me erase memories before..."

Caleb's mind raced as the memories came flooding back.

Breaking in hadn't been hard. He was gone and he'd seen him disarm his
alarm enough to know the passcode. He knew where the air-conditioning unit
and electric box were. He knew that they were in the same room in the
basement. He also knew enough basic chemistry on how to ensure the flame
didn't go out. Siphoning the gas over a two months period hadn't been
easy. But armed with quick thinking and an aquarium tank pump, he
managed. He looked over his work and the single stream that led out the
window to where he stood on the patio. He couldn't help but smile. He'd
threatened to do this on multiple occasions when he was being
'tutored'. But his threat hadn't been taken seriously. Maybe it would
now. Caleb took a deep breath in, before he leaned over and took out the
small black zippo lighter he'd bought. He placed it near the end of the
stream and watched the flame race inside. Moments later he heard a loud
bang as the pack of aerosol canisters went off. He watched as the rest of
the gasoline caught. The room was soon engulfed in flames. Caleb simply let
the orange flame dance in his eyes. Illuminate the symbol orange, and let
the ash rain joy. He turned around and ran to his go kart, parked a street
over. He got in and looked one last time as half the house went up in
flames. A smile came to his lips. It was finally over.

Caleb remembered those last few thoughts he had, and finally felt relief
knowing it was now truly over. He took out the black zippo lighter and lit
the letters from the end and let them catch before fanning them to help
spread the flames. He let them fall to the ground and watched them as they
became ash and crumple to blackness.

"I hope you're burning in hell," Caleb said under his breath.

Jack watched all of this happen and keenly watched Caleb's face. He'd
thought a few times he'd seen anger from his father, especially when he
came out, but that didn't compare to this. What he saw on Caleb's face was
true hatred and anger. It was a sincere desire to eliminate every trace of
this man's existence in the world. Jack reached over and placed his hand
lightly on Caleb's shoulder. Neither of them moved as the moment sank in.
"It's over now," Jack said aloud.

"It is," Caleb replied.

The two continued to sit there and watch the last bits of the letters burn
away into ash as the wind picked up and took the ash with it. Nothing was
left but a black mark on the patio, where some of the ash rest, and even
that would go away with the next rain. His existence was nearly gone,
except with painful memories and a small gravestone in a faraway cemetery.
"Where do you think they'll bury him?"

"They'll probably cremate him and dump his ashes in a grave somewhere,"
Jack replied.

"You think we could find out where?"

Jack turned and looked Caleb in the eyes. He could see the anger and hatred
there, but he knew better than to fall prey to it. He reached out and took
Caleb in an embrace.

"I know what you're doing, and it's time to let go. He can never hurt you
again Caleb, and I want to help you keep walking," Jack said.

Caleb held him tighter, as tears began to well up in his eyes and finally
made their way to his cheeks. They graced Jack's shoulder. The two held
each other while Caleb continued to let all of his emotions flow
freely. The battle had finally ended, and the struggle was over now. He
could get some rest and hopefully move onto a new life.

The landscape rolled by while the car moved swiftly down the backroads as
it headed towards its destination. Jacob looked out the window and watched
the trees come and go until he felt a hand on his shoulder. He looked over
to see Corey with a concerned but curious look on his face.

"You alright there?"

Jacob shook his head side to side. He leaned back into the seat and pulled
Corey in close.

"We'll talk about it at the mall," Jacob whispered to avoid his mom
overhearing what they'd said.

Corey gave a nod, and the two returned to silence as they allowed the trees
to pass them by and the landscape to change to a more developed and urban
setting. The car slowed and turned into the mall. They got out and began to
walk into the star.

"Boys, I'm going to the women's section to look at some of their
shoes. I'll leave you two to find something for yourselves," Jacob's mom
stated, as she turned left in the door and headed to the women's
department.

The two walked into the jeans section with Jacob browsing through the dark
skinny jeans, before Corey placed his hand lightly on Jacob's shoulder.
"What's been up?"

Jacob took in a breath and let out a sigh:

"I'm still serious about what I said at Beaver Creek," Jacob said softly.

Corey looked at him strangely for a few moments, before remembering what
he'd said to him in the room. Corey looked around before taking Jacob into
a tight embrace from behind for a few moments.

"Why are you so worried about the future?"

"Because I've never been this happy before, Corey!" Jacob seemed frantic,
as he searched for the words to describe his feelings.

"It's almost like some kind of drug or something. I can't imagine being
without it," Jacob paused, before locking eyes with Corey: "I can't imagine
it without you."

Corey took a step back and tried to think of some way he could respond. He
let out a sigh and took a step closer again.

"I don't know how I can guarantee anything, but I know we'll both do our
best to stay together," Corey paused a moment and waited for his words to
sink in.

Jacob nodded to continue.

"If we don't appreciate now, then how are we going to appreciate the
future? We'll cross that bridge when we get there, but for now let's just
be happy that we're together, okay?"

Jacob took a breath and visibly relaxed. A small smile appeared on his
face, as he took Corey into an embrace, not caring who might've seen them.

"Okay, I love you," Jacob said softly.

"I love you too."

Jacob and Alex were sitting in the den as they relaxed and watched the
television. Basketball season was over, and both Corey and Martin were out
shopping for new clothes. They'd both grown and were needing new fitting
shirts and pants. Alex seemed half interested in whatever was playing on
the television, while Jacob continued to text on his phone.

"So who's the lucky guy receiving all the texts?"

"Do you even have to ask, Alex?"

"Nope, just making sure," Alex said, as he continue to halfheartedly watch
the show on television.

Their dad walked into the room and sat down on the couch next to their
sofa. He looked at the show for a moment and let out a light laugh.

"House Hunter International?"

Alex shrugged his shoulders, as he put the show on mute.

"It was that or something about people in Alaska, and honestly, this just
seemed better," Alex said, as he turned to face his dad.

Jacob put his phone down and turned to his dad.

"Is something up, dad?"

"You guys are way too good at reading people," their dad said with a small
smile.

His two boys watched him intently, their focus only on him.

"So I officially got a publishing contract signed for my book. We're
expecting books out by next year," their dad said with a smile.

"That's awesome dad!" Alex shouted and jumped up from the couch and
embraced his father.

"Seriously, dad, congratulations!" Jacob said, as he got up and also
embraced his dad.

"Thanks boys," Mr. Stewart said, taking his boys into a tight embrace.

"Wait, what about your job though?" Alex asked, taking a step back.

Mr. Stewart let out a sigh, and released his sons from his embrace.

"Next month will be my last month working for the company. I'm going to
become a full time author if the book sales do well."

"I thought you said the book goes on sale next year?" Jacob asked, as he
sat back down on the sofa.

"I got enough money from the upfront payment and from investments, that
we'll be fine until then. If the sales go well, it'll be my future job. If
not," his dad paused and let out a sigh, "then I'll go back to this job,
and we'll go back to normal."

"Is this some kind of experiment?" Jacob asked.

"No Jacob, this is because I want to be with you two more often,"
Mr. Stewart admitted.

The two sat there awkwardly, as they tried to think of the way to word the
next question they wanted to ask.

"And I know what you two want to ask, so here is why. After what happened
to you, Jacob, I couldn't think about that happening again. I can't
guarantee I'll be able to spot anything right away, but I want to be here
for you both. I don't want to see it happen again to either of you,"
Mr. Stewart said, as he got up and took his sons into an embrace.

He let his sons go after a few moments and watched for their
reactions. They both looked unsure, but a smile was on their faces.

"Thank you dad," Jacob said first.

"Really, dad, thanks!" Alex said directly following Jacob.

"Of course boys, you're both the most important things to me in my life,
and I don't want to risk anything again," their dad admitted.

The three sat in silence, as they let the words they just heard resonate
and sink in. They wondered exactly what the future held for all of them,
and what they could do about it. Mr. Stewart broke the silence and spoke
up for a moment:

"How about we go get some lunch, if you guys are up to it?" Mr. Stewart
wanted to know, as he swung his keys around his fingers.

"Sure, dad!" Jacob said, while he got up from the couch with his brother.

They walked out to the garage together. The three piled into the Land Rover
and headed off towards town. The conversation was kept light, with Alex and
Jacob choosing to sit together in the back seat. The conversation continued
until they pulled into the small parking lot of the Italian restaurant on
the other side of two. They got out and sat down to place their order.

"Dad, are you sure this is going to work?" Jacob asked, the anxiety and
fear clearly underlying the tone of his voice.

Mr. Stewart reached out and placed his hands on both Alex's and Jacob's
shoulders. He took a deep breath in and let it out.

"I'm going to do my absolute best. I can't guarantee anything, but if
things aren't working out, I'll make sure that they do work out in the
end," Mr. Stewart said reassuringly.

Alex and Jacob visually relaxed, as they let out a breath.

"I just don't wanna have to move," Alex said softly.

Mr. Stewart leaned back and nodded slowly.

"I know you don't, and we won't, boys. We're staying here no matter what
happens. You won't lose Corey and Martin," Mr. Stewart tried to say with a
smile.

His boys looked at him and returned his smile lightly. Their food arrived,
and the plates were placed out, as they began to eat the food. Just as he
was about to take another bite, a thought came to Jacob's mind. He placed
his silverware down and looked back up at his father.

"Dad," Jacob said.

"Yes son?"

"Thanks Dad, I love you," Jacob said with a smile.

"Of course son."

"Seriously, dad, thank you," Alex replied afterwards.

"I just want to make sure, you're both happy," Mr. Stewart admitted.

"We are, dad. We are, thanks to you!" Jacob said with a large smile.

Alan leaned further back into the couch, and pulled Wyatt into him
more. Wyatt let out a content sigh, while the television play the science
channel. Wyatt took Alan's hand in his own and rubbed his thumb over the
top of it. Alan let out a relaxed sigh, as he took Wyatt's hand up to his
lips and placed a soft kiss on it.

"We got so lucky," Wyatt said softly.

"I'd like to think it was fate," Alan said, a hint of a smile in his voice.

The two let silence fill the void, as their breaths and the soft sound of
the heating unit occupied the soundscape they left vacant. The warm blanket
that covered them, provided them with a sense of privacy, as the beanie bag
chair beneath them moved around. Alan began to move his hand up to Wyatt's
cheek and slowly moved it across his cheek. He moved his hand further south
towards his chest and leaned in. Alan slowly moved Wyatt's head so as to
allow their lips to meet and interlock. Their tongues danced for a few
moments, while Alan's hand continued to move south. He took a hold of the
bottom of Wyatt's t-shirt and pulled it up slowly. He let their lips
momentarily separate, and brought his t-shirt over his head. Alan let Wyatt
do the same to him, and soon their bare chests were rubbing against each
other as they let their tongues continue to dance. Alan leaned back and
pulled Wyatt closer to him, their heat causing a mild sweat to form on them
despite it being frigid outside. They separated momentarily, as they gazed
into each other's eyes. They could see the lust there. The teenage hormones
rushing through their veins, while their hearts raced as fast as they
could. Their breath came in short pants, and the heat consume them even
further. Alan couldn't handle it anymore and reached down to Wyatt's
shorts. He grabbed the waist band and pulled them down to his ankles in one
consecutive action. It just left Wyatt in his tight boxer briefs. Alan
looked up at Wyatt, who wasn't quite sure what was next.

"Maybe we could try," Alan paused, nervous about what he was going to say
next... "our mouths?"

Wyatt pulled him into an embrace and whispered softly into his
ear. "Anything you want, Alan."

Alan felt his own excitement grow even harder than before. He leaned down
and placed his mouth over the fabric of Wyatt's crotch and began to lick
and suck on Wyatt's hardness. Wyatt let out a soft moan of pleasure, as
Alan increased his vigor and eventually let Wyatt have a break when he
pulled away for a moment. He quickly went back to making out with
Wyatt. Alan pressed himself up against Wyatt, as he removed his jeans and
was down to his underware. He grabbed Wyatt's boxer briefs and pulled them
down hard past his ankles. He couldn't handle this amount of heat and
looked down at Wyatt's exposed excitement. He lay void of all clothes.
Wyatt's excitement quivered, and Alan went in. He wrapped his mouth around
it and used his tongue to make the feelings even more intense for
Wyatt. Wyatt in response grabbed Alan's head and held him close, almost
keeping him from coming up for air entirely. Alan kept Wyatt all the way in
and continued to swirl him around with his tongue. Finally he could feel
Wyatt's balls retract, and the little liquid he could produce fall onto his
tongue. Alan pulled off and grabbed a tissue. He spit into it and threw the
tissue away. Alan lay back down next to Wyatt who looked as if he'd just
run a marathon. Both boys had a gleam of sweat on their bodies. Wyatt
looked over at Alan with a wicked smile.

Without saying anything, Wyatt took Alan's underware and drug it down and
off his legs. He moved his face to be level with Alan's crotch. He studied
him for a few moments and reached out to play with his hardness for a few
seconds. Finally he leaned in, sniffed for a second, and took him into his
mouth. Alan immediately responded and arched his back at the electric shock
like feeling, which coursed through his body upon Wyatt's tongue contact
his hardness. Wyatt imitated Alan and used his tongue on him; swirling,
pushing, and pulling. Alan almost found it impossible to handle, and was
doing his best to keep from cumming right away. He grabbed Wyatt and pulled
him up to him and began making out, so he could make the feeling last a
little longer. Wyatt went along with it for a few moments, before reaching
down and grabbing Alan himself. Alan knew he was getting very close at this
point, so he gave up. Wyatt went back with his mouth and heard Alan moan in
pleasure, as his balls retracted. The little amounts of liquid shot into
Wyatt's mouth - and with that he was finished.

Wyatt spread out on top of Alan who stretched out and wrapped an arm around
his boyfriend. The two let the heat dissipate. A shiver went up Wyatt's
spine from the chill that was setting in due to the sweat and cold
air. Alan grabbed a blanket and wrapped it around them as he settled into
the beanie bag chair more. His bare skin sticking to the fabric. Wyatt
slowly began to drift off to sleep. Alan held him closer and let the warmth
of the blanket engulf them as he let Wyatt fall asleep on his chest. Soon
he heard soft breaths and their soundscape returned back to the silent void
filled only with soft breaths and the sound of the heater. Alan felt sleep
taking its hold in his eyes and soon joined Wyatt as they rest.

Corey seemed distant as he walked into the den and sat down on the
couch. At first Martin assumed he was just watching the television drone
on. But then he noticed that he didn't seem to stare away even during the
commercials. Martin reached over and placed his hand lightly on Corey's
shoulder. Corey jumped a bit at first but quickly regained his composure at
realizing it was just Martin.

"What's been up Corey?"

Corey leaned back against the couch again and took a deep breath in before
letting it out as a sigh.

"Jacob's being weird lately," Corey said, sounding a little exasperated.

"What'd you mean by weird?"

"I mean," Corey paused a moment trying to think of how to explain it, "he
keeps acting afraid that we're too young to make anything permanent, and
that he loves me too much. Or something like that," Corey tried to explain,
though sounding confused himself.

"I mean he's kind of got a point," Martin replied.

"What?"

Corey turned to his brother for an explanation. Martin set down his tablet
and turned to face his brother.

"I mean you're both only 15, you can't really move in or get married yet."

"But why is he almost freaking out about it? It's just something understood
when dating at our age!" Corey said sounding further exasperated.

"Maybe he's just really afraid of what'd it'd be like to lose you," Martin
tried, wondering if it was a valid reason.

"He did say he loved me so much that he was afraid of what it'd be if I
wasn't there," Corey said, thinking back to the conversation.

"Then that's it," Martin stated, as if they'd found the answer and was
about to turn back to his tablet.

Corey thought about it for a few moments, but realized that wasn't the
answer he was looking for.

"But why is he afraid though? I mean, I know he loves me, but what's making
him think he'll lose me?"

Martin put his tablet back down and let out a small sigh, as he tried to
think of a way to reason through this. Yet it didn't seem to make much
sense - aside from possible paranoia.

"Do you think something happened that made him start thinking like that?"

Corey leaned into his seat for a few moments, trying to think of any event
that'd have made him recently start thinking like that. Then suddenly
something popped into mind.

"When that asshole was bullying him. He told me about the stuff he did. It
was so fucked up," Corey paused and face palmed, "why didn't I see it
earlier. He's having paranoia because of what happened."

"So what are ya gonna do about it?"

"I think I'm going to tell him he might need to consider therapy," Corey
said as he started to pull out his phone.

Martin's face turned to one that was a mix of confusion and shock.

"That's a bit of a bomb shell to drop, Corey, are you sure?"

"I'm going to be careful about it," Corey said, as he waited for his text
message to send.

"So when are you going to tell him?"

Corey waited a few moments before his phone made a ping noise, and he saw
that he'd gotten a text in response.

"Right now," Corey said, as he got up from the couch.

"You'll be home for dinner?"

Corey gave a nod, and with that he was out the door.

Corey walked into the house and took Jacob into an embrace.

"Hey babe," Jacob responded, with a light kiss on his cheek.

"Where's everyone at?"

"Dad's in the office, mom's at work, and Alex is hanging out with Caleb,"
Jacob explained, as he walked into the den.

"Actually wanna go to your room?"

Jacob looked at him for a moment and gave a knowing smile, before Corey had
time to explain. He was already off and waiting in his room. By the time
Corey had gotten there, he was removing his shirt. Corey reached out and
placed his hands on Jacob's arms.

"I'm not here for that today, babe. Though we could later, I guess," Corey
said, letting his hormones get the better of him.

"Oh, umm," Jacob said in embarrassment, his cheeks turning red.

Corey sensed this and decided to remove his own shirt and softly bring
Jacob down onto his bed. Jacob visibly relaxed, but still seemed somewhat
embarrassed.

"Sorry, I didn't know," but Jacob was cut off before he could continue.

"Don't worry about it. It's what we do ninety percent of the time up here
anyway," Corey said lightly as he leaned in and kissed Jacob on the cheek.

"So what's up then?"

Corey let out a sigh, as he pulled in Jacob close, and lightly pressed him
against his chest.

"You've been acting strange lately," Corey said, feeling Jacob flinch
lightly.

"I've said."

"I know what you've said, Jakey," Corey mentioned, cutting Jacob off.

"But I also know that you've dealt with some really fucked up stuff. Like
what happened with Terry," again Corey felt Jacob shiver at the mentioning
of it.

"I think you might want to consider talking to someone about it."

"You mean, like a shrink?"

"I think it might help, Jacob," Corey said, holding Jacob from getting up.

"But why, I'm not messed up like that," Jacob expressed, trying to pull
away, but Corey wouldn't let him go.

"Jacob, just stop for a second!" Corey said with more force.

Jacob stopped and relaxed against Corey again.

"I think that you got afraid you'd lose me and that you never dealt with
that fear. I think you need to face it and deal with it, now! I don't want
to lose you, Jakey, and I won't. But I don't want you to be afraid all the
time," Corey said softly.

Jacob let the words sink in for a few moments and saw the truth to them. He
let out a sigh, before leaning back against Corey. He pulled his hand up to
his lips and gave him a light kiss on the top of his hand.

"Okay, I'll do it for you," Jacob said softly.

"You're amazing, babe," Corey said softly, as he leaned in to nuzzle his
nose through Jacob's hair.

"Maybe we could now do, umm..." Jacob trembled, fumbling through the words.

A smile came to Corey's lips as he reached down and placed his hand on
Jacob's stomach and began rubbing in small circles, moving southward.

"Yes now we can," Corey said as the two soon became intertwined and spent
the afternoon allowing themselves to burn up the evening sun.
